  1. Everybody does that though (enemy to friend trope with Sonny) and what drives me nuts about it is Sonny really isn't that charming. He never was much for social graces so I don't get why the show pulls this Donnie Brasco crap every time. With a more likeable, palatable character like Lorenzo Alcazar or Johnny Zacharra I'd see it. Hell even crazy Anthony what he lacked in social graces he made up for in sheer entertainment but Sonny? I don't get the appeal. It would be lovely if he reverse Uno'd Carly and Michael and took down Sonny in one fell swoop. However, I think we're more likely to see Barry Allen reverse the timeline and catapult us to a wolrd without shrimp.
  2. The sheer volume of characters being hurled in front of buses to try to salvage and prop the character of Esme Prince makes me realize how lucky they are to be set in a hospital.
  3. I do wonder about this because the lack of diversity in 2023 is really really odd. And I do think that nowadays people erroneously equate diversity with "adding Black people" but it is so much more than that and encompasses all BIPOC, sexualities, gender identities and abilities. It's strange to see GH hanging on so tightly to such a small target audience when it's clear that many diversities enjoy soap operas and many don't engage in them as a result of the lack of inclusion. Lucas being a legacy character and gay and NOT on the show is a perfect example of how nonsensical it is. We seemingly have time for another Himbo of the month but no room for Lucas? Someone upthread mentioned Kristina, is she bisexual or did you mean from the perspective of having a half-Latino father?
  4. Sooo true! And what's insane is there is heaps and heaps of data to support the fact that diversity and addressing social/topical issues on shows boosts ratings. It just makes zero sense. But I guess since they killed off or sent to prison most of their doctors, nurses and hospital staff they didn't bother.
  5. I can see this as well. It still strikes me as so odd that the soap medium that used to lead the charge on social issues has become so fearful and backwards compared to the rest of society. I have often wondered myself if FV is just "running out the clock" on NAC's contract so he won't have to do an interracial romance as the "big teen story" which strikes me as so wild give the popularity of Michonne on TWD, John and Evangeline on TVD, Gia and Nik on GH back in the day and MJ and Peter in the Spiderman franchise now (although colourism comes into play there). And although Spencer himself is written as technically White the actor is himself is Latino as is MC and the original actor playing his Dad is Indigenous, so it's not the massive roll of the dice that FV may think it is, if that's where his head is at. It's just so baffling that soaps like GH fell behind like this. But I guess as a poster upthread said we'll see how they handle Sprina sex and/or if they just wait for NAC's clock to run out first with impromptu, inexplicable faux dad hijinx and/or "daddy issues" clogging the drain instead of a romance many fans have been waiting almost two years for.
  6. Thank you for this thoughtful and introspective response. This makes total sense and I agree. And there are certainly a lot of variables involved (even though the show often doesn't acknowledge them) you're probably right that how they go about Spencer and Trina's first time will give us a clearer picture how they are treating the character and thank you for thr notes regarding colourism, a dark (no pun intended) facet of racism I think is often (unfortunately) under-estimated and overlooked.
  7. I'm eagerly awaiting future Sprina scenes next week. I hope to get some kisses but I also hope that, while supporting Spencer, Trina can reiterate what Laura and Cam have repeatedly told him, to stop leaping without looking. It was heartbreaking to see him blame himself for his father's disappearance but in a way he was partly to blame. His goal was to get rid of his father and now (only temporarily thank god) he has succeeded and he's wailing about it. I love the kid but you asked for this. You can't keep making foolish choices without thinking them through then wailing about the consequences. He did the same when he (through no influence but his own) chose that stupid plan to fool Trina and Joss and everyone else into believing he took Esme's side. The plan didn't work, it blew up in his face and he ended up back in an even worse prison, physically and mentally. Cam begged him to see reason and to simply come clean to everyone and go about things another way. Cam told him what Trina later echoed, that Trina would be more comforted and supported if she knew he believed in her, but instead Spencer went forward with his boneheaded plan breaking Trina's heart and emotionally blindsiding her and his friends and family in the process. When Cam tried desperately to thwart the ill-thought out, ridiculous plan it landed them both in jail. This kind of reckless behaviour is really dangerous for others to be around and I loved that Laura tried to tell him to think before he acts in the future (for all the good it will do her.) When Spencer was blackmailing his father Laura told him he'd regret it, she knew deep down he still really loved him and his actions came from a place of pain. But Spencer, a true Pisces, swore up and down that he didn't care about his father anymore and now Spencer has gone ahead and broken his own heart (with Ava's help). And it would be even worse had Trina not cleverly called his bluff on turning his father in especially since Nik only "confessed" to protect Ava to begin with. I know Nik isn't father of the year, he's a damn mess, but compared to some others (I'm looking at you Sonny and Frisco) he's not as bad as he could be and yes I understand he's an adult but what those Sonnys and Carlys who judge him fail to remember is that he has generational childhood trauma too. Abandoned, as far as he knew, by his mother and taunted by Lucky that he was a child of r*pe and who knows what other lies Stavros and Helena told him, he hasn't exactly had a dream childhood. Yeah he was rich, but I hate the way the show uses that to negate both Nik and Spencer's pain. I don't think anyone (but Laura) truly understands the burden of being a Cassadine child.
  8. Just to confirm (and reiterate) it was Adam Huss birthday yesterday he thanked all for the bday love and alluded to the fact that the scene was filmed at the end of his run as he mentioned it was a pleasant surprise that it dropped on his birthday.
  9. Ah that's a bummer! Sad to hear he fumbled the bag, although to be fair many of the actors on this show seem to do that quite frequently. How about this for a fix? Dex is AJ's son, he's recast with Drew Garrett and his mother is none other than Julia, Brenda's sister and subject of the hot affair her and AJ had. That would make Brenda his aunt and Dex a Quartermaine and DG would have the chance to play the son of AJ we all deserve.
  10. Wendy Riche happened. Wendy Riche was there to keep him in check and he came off the wonderful seeds that Claire Labine had planted. It wasn't until he returned without her that I realized what a massive impact an EP has on a show because all that good stuff was her and Claire before him. I tend to give Scott wide birth in terms of forgiveness given all his dead children and the fact that he never got absolution for what Sonny did to Karen. I'm still not over them killing off (the perfectly cast) Logan just to give JMB something to do. Logan and Maxie were it. Maxie and Logan and Maxie and Johnny. It wasn't the actor's fault him and JMB didn't have chemistry. I'll never get over that one and thus I've always looked at Scott as the dotty, drunk uncle ever since. I just want him to have his kids back.
  11. I don't see it because Drew was very intense, if they were going to write Michael as vengeful, independent and/or finally turning on Carly and Jason and becoming his own man, I'd see it but Michael has been written for years as a patsy and I don't see Drew believabley playing a patsy. He just doesn't look like someone easily duped to me but Chad (no offense to him) does. Guza must have been watching The Wire, Oz or Prison Break when he broke that story with his very clear insert Jason in mind. Gah, I despise Robert Guza! That's one thing I am so thankful to be free of. I agree that they really made a mistake with Dex, in some cases casting is bang-on (all the YA actors) but when it comes to the adults sometimes, damn.
  12. A) I tried to watch a few scenes with Josslyn and EH's Dex and yikes. Agreed. EM is doing all the heavy lifting and he seems to be giving nothing which is a shame. B)I have a theory ™️ (the only good Willow) and it's that they have the same problem with CD as they have with LW. I personally think Chad is a fine actor however I don't feel his wheelhouse is romance, it's family drama. When they brought on Drew (Garrett) as the recast back in the day he wasn't really the right fit for a confused, manipulated teen that was volleyed between Carly and whomever her new Daddy of the week was at random. It worked for the plot and emotionally that Chad was recast to handle the (superdepressing and wholly umnecessary) Pentonville storyline. IMO when you need insecure, hurt and manipulated Chad is the guy. However, now as the years progressed and they tried to move him out of that category into leading man material he never made the jump IMO. None of the pairings I've ever seen him in have worked. He doesn't seem to have a sexual bone in his body (no pun intended). I feel the same way about Laura Wright, where Sarah Brown and Tamara Braun had chemistry with anything that moved both CD and LW seem to have anti-chemistry. Thus the show puts LW in Granny Wars and they butcher and massacre female character's in order to try to fit them into a mold with CD's Michael and as far as I've seen, it never ever works. And this is why I feel they have the plot of a grown-ass man trying to bring down his father over Mommy issues (which should really be issues over AJ's murder as MB helpfully pointed out). I think the fact that that is his A storyline is almost entirely due to his limitations in romance. I tend to find with soaps that the writers write to what they think the actor's strengths are and unfortunately CD's strength doesn't appear to be romance.
  13. To be fair it was a twist to me because I absolutely believed them insane and stupid enough to kill off Nikolas Mikhail Stavrosovich Cassadine and turn it into a damn slapstick comedy. So I was thanking my lucky stars for the ending. I know Tyler Christopher is hit or miss for many on here but I'll share why his return would mean so much to me and why I'm strangely appreciating Uncle Victor. I'm a parallel girl, nothing I love more than a good parallel and I've been getting a lot of them with Spencer and Trina for Nik (CS's) and Gia I personally think they should have mined that story with Taggert instead of the paternity with boring Curtis but I digress. What has also really struck me is just how much NAC reminds me of TC when he was younger, in the same way William Lipton reminds me of younger Becky Herbst. NAC being a Virgo I wouldn't be surprised if he studied old TC stuff because he is just too much like him for it to not be planned. The way he carries himself, the way he delivers his lines and at this point the show is trolling me in the way they dress him and even the olive and tan colour scheme. The other day when Spencer returned home from Pentonville and Uncle Victor took him out to dinner and he ran into Trina it reminded me so much of when Uncle Stefan was Nik's ward and Laura was forbidden (by Luke ugh) contact with him. TC played Nik as this lost unloved child desperate for the love of a mother who he believed never wanted him and it's a similar well that NAC draws from. The mother hunger was palpable and I need to see these actors collide. Baby (teenage) Nik came into the Hospital his first scene and saved Lulu's life with a transplant (or stem cell) and we saw Stefan ushering him away at the hospital and he just stared at Laura as he walked by and it was such a big moment and the energy NAC gives with Charles is so similar that it's absolutely nuts. I NEED to see NAC and TC in scenes together. I crave it. I do.
  14. Not to be deranged about it but I remember this day, it was Wednesday, April 20th (or 19th) 1999. Either the day Columbine happened or the day before. I remember because I had acting class that night and I was raw from crying all day because I had thought Lucky was dead until the end of the show.
  15. I can relate. I wasn't a massive fan of Nik although I loved TC's Nik and enjoyed CS's Nik quite a bit. I wasn't around for his last few "deaths" but I recall GH in the 90s as like a second home to me and Nikolas and his family were a big part of that. To see him or any legacy character casually "killed off" and dragged around the estate made me sick to my stomach as these characters feel like old friends (or enemies) to me. If it were up to me there would be a no-death clause on the show and presumed dead only for legacy characters. You never know where the plot could go at any point and it's just so nonsensical to write yourself into a corner by killing off characters that have been tied to the canvas for decades. Especially after losing all the Quartermaines like Alan, AJ Justus and characters like Georgie needlessly it just turns my stomach to watch them be massacred for plot points. I think they probably prefilmed the scene before Adam left but I here say today is his birthday so it's a fitting present. It's Maurice's birthday too. Big Pisces energy.
  16. I'm so grateful. I can't even describe. If they keep him offscreen for a while and resurface with the real Nik while claiming these last few years were an imposter or brainwashing or a tumour I'm fine. He's had a tumour before..I'm just happy he's alive. That's all I need.
  17. The watch was cheap! I'm going to use this to further my delusion that that man was an imposter!
  18. I was hoping to see Liesl confront Heather and Joss. I'm disappointed we won't be seeing that. I think all 3 actors could carry those scenes well. More of Michael and another basic girlfriend. Has he ever had a good one?So disappointed that Michael is alive and Morgan is dead. Never imagined Carly would have a kid I liked nevermind it be the one she had with Sonny but there it is. Nuture vs Nature I guess. IMO the wrong son went clink boom.
  19. Cam deserves all the good things! Rewatching old Lucky/Liz clips I am still so struck at just how much WL resembles BH and CB tbh. The resemblance is uncanny. They really said copy paste with Liz' child. Perfect casting.
  20. Omg its such a rich history!! Thanks for sharing that. I too, have ignored the retcon of the retcon, in my mind Stefan is Nik's father, they are both alive and that's that.
  21. I've felt he was quite a profound actor since I started watching again but these past few days he was asked to go from jubilation (the Sprina Kiss) to fear (discovering Esme, Ryan and Heather were on Spoon Island) to euphoria and excitement (Rosemary's baby' birth) to desolation and devastation (discovering he was Esme and Ryan's mark) in the span of a few days. The last two in the span of an episode, that's a Shakrespearean level of range in terms of narrative and it is NOT easy to pull off going from jubilation to absolute heartache in the span of minutes. What an incredible feat! That must have been a very exhausting week for him. I agree, it's such a pleasure to see Genie in scenes with young actors like NAC and JJ who really give her something in the scene and she has always been such a powerhouse so it was quite special to watch the recent scenes. I join you in despising RC unearned beats and frankly his obsession with DiD storylines and villains for the sake of villainy.
  22. I took the time to answer thoughtfully and clearly and I don't feel like you read or made any attempt to understand my post so I'll leave it at that. In other news I was watching some scenes of the trial with Molly assistant to the DA and some of the current ones as DA and I must agree it was strange to see her in that role. The Davis Girls fan in me was excited and certainly because I grew up watching NLG as a lawyer on Santa Barbara and then GH so the heir apparent idea is exciting to me but she does seem a little young for that position. I suppose her size doesn't help which may be a bias on my end as there are a lot of actresses these days that look much younger than they are but it was strange. I hope they find a rhythm with it though because I support the idea. I do really miss NLG in court room scenes though but I can see why they wouldn't want a double (triple?) murderer representing people.
  23. I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say here but I'm not sure I'm overly fond of it. My point is White Supremacy exists in every facet of society because it's institutional and that is more than the case for tv shows and soap operas like GH in particular. This is by no means a "diverse" show in light of that wrt Trina the show will walk a tough line in how they treat her, which certainly wouldn't been as tough if they had more Black characters, Indigenous characters and/or Characters of Colour integrated in the thread of the show now or sooner. One can only opine they are trying to be mindful of the depiction of the Black families on the show (in a way Y and R certainly never has been) however, they will inevitably run into tropes and biases and a lot of that is due to the lack of diversity on the canvas. It's simply odd to drag out a love story for over a year and a half with young actors such as these. On B&B (sadly) they would be married and divorced by now. As @statsgirl helpfully pointed out upthread, Trina is the only BIPOC person of her age group on the show and as such she bears the burden of representing all BIPOC groups much like Bonnie on TVD. And similarly to Bonnie on TVD they are giving Trina the same semi-precious treatment. Do I think they are consciously aware of that treatment? Maybe not, but the fact remains it's anomalous in a soap opera landscape, especially with young actors on 3 year contracts where for one, 2 years has already expired and even more so given that soap operas are, these days, a ticking time bomb anyway. They simply don't have this kind of time to waste, narratively or financially. ETA: I certainly don't think Trina would be seen as "promiscuous" to have sex with someone she clearly loves and has loved for over a year, nor would she be seen as promiscuous to have sex with Rory (a guy she was dating). I do in fact hope that even outside of that a young woman enjoying sex with a guy she likes wouldn't be seen as promiscuous. Joss is getting heat because she cheated on Cam with a henchman then gaslight him and Spencer about it while asking Cam to cover up her actions.
  24. I really think the viewers pay more attention than the writers do at times. I am choosing to believe this is so the body is gone but I'm also choosing to believe this is an ImposterNik and like, Faison's distant evil relative or Connor or something. This delusion keeps me sane.
