  1. They think you do. They have also always said that they don’t know for sure how it works and that you need to focus (can’t be drunk, etc.) It could be that Brianna wasn’t focussing on anyone or anything so didn’t travel. As for Claire’s first time, she had Jack Randall on her mind from Frank’s stories. Not surprising he was the first person she encountered. We just don’t know for certain how it works. I can’t remember, did Claire have a gem when she inadvertently went through the stones the first time? Seems she was pretty bare essentials in a dress and shawl.
  2. Whoa, I don’t think you got that most of my comment was just a joke! (running to see Mama and Da, not being as smart as her mother). Guess I’d better get the heavy sarcasm smiley out next time. But I stand by my opinion that she should have suspected. You hear that kind of buzzing and feel the dread, after you’ve been through it a few times and you should know, whatever circumstances you’re in.
  3. lol I had a chuckle at that. I think an American would be hard pressed to know it, let alone a Brit. 😄
  4. Probably true about the gemstone, though not a given that you absolutely need one. It might just help navigate better. Either way, I sure wouldn’t take the chance! Yes, they don’t talk about things far too often. The writers need to step up their game! And I appreciate your opinion, but I think she should have at least suspected right away. Buzz, buzz, buzz… “Is there a bee in here?” Duh…
  5. There we go. Bree finally figured it out. About time. A little little slow on the uptake, but got there eventually. 😄 Ian will probably always be my favourite, but I’m quickly warming to William. Any scenes with both of them are a bonus. How many times has Claire been abducted now? I’m tired of seeing that plot point. I’m waiting for the day Jamie gets fed up and stops going to the trouble of saving her. “Dinna bother, she’ll only be getting herself caught again tomorrow.” Well that ending was a major disappointment… who in the world is the time traveller? I can’t see it being Jemmy, why would Roger punch Jemmy (“I told you, no Gaelic!”)? Seems it was supposed to be a great reveal, but ended up a damp squib because it’s someone we haven’t seen before. I thought it was Rupert for a split second! 😀 But I rarely forget a face and I’m pretty sure we’ve never seen this guy before. Why end the episode with the reveal of someone we don’t know?
  6. By the buzzing sound, and that feeling of chaos they get. Brianna clearly felt that, given her reaction. It’s not a matter of knowing, but figuring it out. Wouldn’t be difficult to put two and two together. Claire suspected right away that the water in the cave in the Caribbean was a portal. Guess she’s smarter than her daughter. 😁 If I’d gone through that experience even once before (and they’ve now done it what, three times?) and heard and felt it again, anywhere, I’d stay well away from it, not jump right into/through it!
  7. I had the same look on my face as the workers when Boss Bree showed up at work. The worst part about Bree in that job is that Sophie can’t carry it off. Yeah what happened with the lights in the cave? I thought Brianna was going to end up in Claire’s lap while Claire was stitching someone up! It was quite the scene and I thought that was what Brianna had on her mind when she was about to talk to Roger, then she just rambled on about how the men disrespected her. Not a mention of a portal at all. You’d think she’d at least tell Roger about it even if she didn’t travel anywhere. Unless she didn’t realize. Would she really not clue in to what it was? I thought she did when she ran into it in hopes of seeing Mama and Da again, and I was wondering why she’d run through without telling anyone beforehand! Stupid spontaneous move, I figured. I guess I shouldn’t have thought about it so much. Bree certainly hasn’t. Wonder who the traveller is and when Roger will finally do a proper search and find them.
  8. Or on another part of herself. Although she has said that Jamie is based on her husband, so you may be right. Does she have a son? Is he anything like Fergus? 😄
  9. I think you’re right. Female authors tend to write themselves the heroine as beautiful and accomplished whereas male authors tend to make their protagonists damaged and brooding (but still have every woman falling all over them!). 😄
  10. Absolutely. Even as far as becoming a surgeon, doctor wasn’t enough. I would find her boring if it wasn’t for the healer aspect of the character which holds my interest (in the past, not doctor Claire in her own time).
  11. He just won’t leave! I half expect him to pop up again, maybe from under the bed when Claire and Jamie are having a tumble. 😄
  12. Just saw on imdb that it says first episode of season 4 airs today. I take it that’s wrong?
  13. The diagram he drew is a bit misleading. The bullet the girl found was rounded but the tip also had slits. Real bullets apparently have smooth tips. The one they showed in the hijacker’s hand (when the girl dropped it into his hand) looked more like this:
  14. Ha, you should see her in Keeping Faith! She was good in We Hunt Together too. It depends what she is in.
  15. I think the thing is that the first time they tried to go back they didn’t have a good enough reason for returning. Their hearts were more with staying in the past. This time they had a strong reason to go… their daughters life. As Claire said to Donner, you have to focus on something or someone on the other side. I’m glad they did make it this time. It should be interesting. I guess we’ll be seeing Bree and fam living in the 20th century. I always liked Bree and Roger better in that time. Bree at least never seemed to fit in the past to me, like Claire and Roger did. I hope they don’t rush back to the past once the baby is better. When Jemmy was frolicking about near the stones after they successfully got through, I wanted to shout at Bree and Roger to grab the tot before he inadvertently toppled back through the stones! Hi Grannie and Grandda! 😄 A good episode but certain parts sure were rushed, like with Allan… the scene’s only purpose was to wrap up that storyline. He confesses he was the killer, Young Ian pops an arrow into him, and we’re done.
  16. I didn’t think he did. It seemed to me he was lying about it. Whether because he wanted to save Claire or to protect someone else (his son maybe?) or possibly both, kill two birds with one stone.
  17. I did too. My favourite parts are always with Claire, and these scenes were some of the best. I thought it was a good episode. Though I can still do without Bree. I’ve even warmed to Roger (still not crazy about the character, but do like Richard Rankin). But I never liked Brianna as a character and like Sophie Skelton even less. I was surprised (can’t go as far as to say impressed 😄 ) by Sam’s acting right at the end. I’ve never thought he’s a very good actor but he did look fierce at the end. He actually had a different expression on his face for once! Not the usual filling his pants look that he uses for every situation. Though I wasn’t very fond of the Christies storyline, I’m sorry to see Mark Lewis Jones go, great actor. Now it looks like Richard Brown’s days are limited. Another good actor, Chris Larkin (Maggie Smith’s son, Toby Stephenson’s brother, for those that didn’t know). Just a glimpse of Ian, but I’m sure we’ll see more of him. So happy to have the show back and I already can’t wait for next week!
  18. I hope they’re right. Imdb shows 12 episodes, not that they‘re never wrong. They should make it 20 to add to the confusion. 😄
  19. I would actually like to see Jamie’s parents’ story, as long as they keep it interesting. At least the prequels would bring it back to Scotland. I wasn’t crazy about the change to America. I much preferred the foreign locations of Scotland and France.
  20. Is there a Countdown to the Return of Young Ian thread? 😉 He makes the show, these days. Almost there. Can’t wait!
  21. You’re not crossing off the days on your calendar?! Clearly you’re not well. 😁
  22. I’m loving it. It’s definitely tongue-in-cheek. Giddy nonchalantly telling his wife he might be arrested when she asked how his day was at work, and his line… “Now where are those little soaps I took from the Watergate? They may be used as evidence.” Or the scene where the lot of them are being booked and the lawyer pretends he doesn’t understand English (like the others did) and speaks Spanish, in a bad accent. 🤣
  23. Guess I’m the only one bummed about this. If the books are still being written, I want to see them adapted! If Sam and Cait want out, I wouldn’t care if they recast (was never crazy about Sam anyway). Weren’t there supposed to be only two more books anyway, or am I wrong about that?
  24. Anyone for a snide Julian angel spin-off? 😆
  25. She’s def in on it. Her “I’ll make sure to get you everything you deserve,” to Roger was a giveaway.
