  1. I wonder how you know its a hatchet job and not an edit reflective of her personality? I'm just curious, has another contestant come out and said something about her getting an unfair edit? Have Kini, Sean, or Amanda said that their TH were taken out of context? I know Fade made a comment about the Sandaya "hate", but I've seen nothing from anyone else about Korina. Have you?* I, personally, think it was exactly as I said. They picked certain personalities to bring drama, they weren't sure which one would. It ended up being Korina. They used the TH to support the narrative of what she actually did. I don't see any sort of conspiracy since everyone got the same treatment. Hernan's worst moment was shown, and supported by TH, Carrie's worst moment was shown and supported by TH, as was Angela's, as was Sandaya's. Everyone was treated fairly, if you had a shitty moment, or behaved like a brat on camera, that was used and supported by the TH. Unless presented with evidence otherwise, that seems the most logical thing to me. Many other designers have had hate thrown their way and have not chosen to call fans "misled sheep" or other names or to post condescendingly to FB. And no producer controlled that, she did. And the entire Sandaya episode she decided she wanted to talk about on FB was one that showed her in a positive light. So even when she is shown in a positive light, she is still condescending and negative. She chose to post on FB in response to a post from Fade defending Sandaya, so I don't think its fair to say thats emblematic of the hate being thrown Korina's way, since the "hate" Fade was referring to was being aimed at Sandaya and not Korina. To me, if when you're shown as a hero you still maintain bad behavior thats on you. I don't think that asking what she did before her meltdown is really important at all. The way she behaved, when given total freedom, was in line with her edit. I expect that fictional shows, reality shows and documentaries will all have an element of character development to them. In reality shows that character development comes in part from the TH of the designer and others. But where she was given the total freedom, and where producers couldn't put words in her mouth, her behavior mirrored the same character the producers "edited" all season. And thats being exceedingly generous, because I think that her TH may have simply been much worse and more snarky than everyone else's regardless. But even giving her the benefit of the doubt there, even assuming all designers, including Fade and Emily had bitchy TH, it doesn't matter, because when given the power to act all on her own, her actions mirrored the edit she had received up until her own bad behavior during her elimination episode -- all of which she controlled. I think its fair for a show to "develop" her character in line with the behavior she undertook of her own free volition. Most of the show tapes, and then is edited. I think its more than reasonable for a show to see who had the biggest asshole moment and then edit the time up until that asshole moment to "develop" the character. She gave them plenty of material in her TH to do that and support that. I don't expect PR to show the moment in a vacuum. That doesn't make sense to me anymore than it would make sense for the first scene of 16 Candles to be the scene with Molly Ringwald sitting with Jake on the table with the cake. Or for the first scene of the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead to be a fit guy working at the YMCA and throwing a football around with his kid. * - I don't necessarily know that I would take the after the fact/after the episode airing comments of the other contestants as gospel truth, or real proof of anything because I think they all have a vested interest in getting along, protecting their image (if positive), and they may just feel bad that another designer, fairly or unfairly is on the receiving end of negative attention. But it would be something.
  2. I can tell you from personal experience, the remote control doesn't work. But the clapper is out there saving people and thwarting bandits with scruffy facial hair! Clapper Plus!
  3. Yeah...but people name their kids after Camilla. You know, the thing is I really want to like Rocky, and I'm going to try harder. I do think she is a badass competitor, so good on her for that. I wonder whatever happened to Shannon? And whats with all these women being on BGC and then announcing they are lesbians....something in the Ciroq they give them in the party bus/limo? Something in the rarefied air of the VIP section in the club? I don't have a problem with lesbians, but I just think its odd that you made it 20+ years in life being one way, got on a reality show and are suddenly into the ladies. I'm just rooting for Natalie to stop wearing that particular bikini.
  4. But I don't wanna be a pirate!
  5. I feel like he was an impersonation, but I also think that was probably the real young Nucky. He was from a very poor family, trying to woo this rich girl, desperate to move up in the world, he probably acted the way he either saw people acting, or the way he thought people wanted him to act, and because he wasn't skilled yet, his acting probably came off as just that.....acting. The laugh was a little too loud, the smile a little too big, the nonchalance, a little too studied. those teeth...woof! I'm not sure when Al Capone contracted syphilis, but I think mental problems are a complication from the disease. So...maybe?? As far as Sigrid, I see it as her getting what she thought she wanted, and realizing its not that great and the anger that comes with it. She was an immigrant, and probably thought that if she married an American man, with a solid job (was he a prohibition agent when they met?) and had some children and a home she would be happy. She was probably taught that it would make her happy....and it doesn't. But I do remember the cool Sigrid selling her moonshine at some point...that lady was pretty cool
  6. There are three things I can point to: 1) her own facebook post, which I find to be the height of condescension and arrogance 2) her behavior towards Char during judging/after judging/during the sew off/post elimination and 3) her behavior when brought back to help Char. No one can make up any of those things, and thats not her being a victim of editing, those are all things she did. People have often thought they have gone home to a less talented designer and have managed to hold it together. And the most recently eliminated designer is almost always brought back to "help," her inability to suck it up when other people, in the normal world have sucked up worse says something about her, and its nothing I think is positive. The fact that she couldn't suck it up, to me, gives her the qualities of a child who didn't get her way, and therefore no longer wants to play the game she agreed to play. This is the game she agreed to play, she agreed to play in the PR sandbox. I don't blame PR for looking at all the footage, seeing who behaved the very worst and creating their narrative around that. They used her TH, which, I don't know were any better or any worse than anyone else's. You can't know that, and I can't know that. I don't think that can be known, unless you've heard people from this season saying otherwise. But I wouldn't expect a show like this to simply show Korina's meltdown in a vacuum. Reality TV has an element of storytelling, even shows like Big Brother which are pretty much just about taping people 24 hours a day. Heck even a documentary has an element of storytelling. And almost everyone who had some sort of drama was shown in a negative light, through TH and other devices. Sandaya, Hernan, and even Carrie. So again, to me, it seems like the rules of editing/production were applied fairly. The only difference between Korina and everyone else is 1) it happened towards the end of the season and 2) it was a bigger meltdown than anyone else had as far as I could see. Part of the storytelling process is developing the characters. I think they used Korina's TH to develop her as a character that they developed around her actions. Things 1-3 above are things that she had total control over, but also showcase the character traits the producers showcased. So, from where I sit, I don't see how the narrative was that far off the mark, since she displayed the same character traits even when the producers weren't in control. For the record, I was never an ardent fan of Korina (my favorite was Fade). But I did call shenanigans on the whole Korina/Char vs. Amanda thing, and I thought her TH about Sandaya at the Mood cutting table was on point. So, I don't think her TH up until that point ruined her for me. Note - I also don't know how to move posts, so if someone who understands better than me can move Kimber's and my post that would be boss.
  7. I can agree that the Korina/Char vs. Amanda thing was very suspect, and was mostly created out of thin air and Amanda's TH and her conversation with Fade. But I think thats as far as editing can go, and I will say that a lot of people in this forum questioned the editing behind that. So I don't think people are so easily led by editing and TH. I think the references to her "storming out" are based on the attitude she had when she was in the room before being asked to leave. Just because you've been asked to leave doesn't mean you can't storm out, or that you can't leave a room angrily. At least not as far as I've seen. I don't think a rational human being who had a melt down of her caliber two days ago, towards the end of a pretty uneventful season wouldn't realize that their anger episode wouldn't be featured on PR. I think it would have been naive of her to think that the producers weren't going to use that. If she has ever seen PR, she should have known better. Even in the lifetime years, a blow up like that is going to be a featured moment. She shouldn't have been any more shocked than Sandro or Ken to see their bad behavior shown on screen. She made the decision to be on a reality show, and in reality, and on reality shows people are going to judge your behavior, good or bad. She had a rare opportunity to actually mitigate the damages, a lot of people don't get that opportunity. You have a blow up like that at work, you are kindly shown the door and asked never to return, while everyone inside talks about you being insane. And I don't think its reasonable to call helping Char for a day the equivalent of being Gandhi. I think people put up with way worse every day, and for periods much longer than a day. Deserving people get passed up for a promotion only to see it handed to some jackass they hate, and they have to smile and bear working for that person who probably knows less than them for years. And thats in almost every industry, so it can be done, and its not superhuman to be disappointed, frustrated and even infuriated and to be able to hold it together. And saying its just an unfair edit is not really fair either. She said/did all of these things. Maybe at the reunion we'll hear that Samantha or Hernan had a big blow up upon getting eliminated, and it was edited out, but I doubt it. The producers seem to have shown any sort of blow up or workroom drama. To me that seems very fair, everyones worst moments are shown. If it was only Korina, I may question it. But they didn't hide the Sandaya/Carrie/Hernan drama, they didn't hide the Korina/Sandaya drama, they really tried to highlight the Char/Korina vs. Amanda drama. the only reason Korina's is any worse than anyone elses is because she gave them so much to work with. If you take her TH out of the equation, there is still plenty about Korina to paint her in a negative light, IMO. Things that she has done all on her own.
  8. I feel this may be her best venture yet. Do they still have the gorgeous ladies of GLOW? I totally think she could bring that back.
  9. After seeing the trailer, season 7 can't start soon enough for me. Oh the shade of it all!!!!
  10. I actually enjoyed the commercial where the Clapper saves the old lady from a band of masked bandits! Maybe I should buy another clapper, I would love to thwart masked bandits. What if you don't like the Dart? I've seen it, its not my first choice.
  11. I can't get Sean's white dress. I don't know how there wasn't a vagina joke made about the slit up the front. Or some joke about making a woman look wider than she actually is from the front. Fashion is subjective and a lot of the things the judges adore I just don't get....
  12. I guess when you live in the Hamptons you get really personalized service, I remember stories about how it takes an hour to get emergency services to people in the poorer areas of Detroit. I thought Jack's cop buddy was gay? Or maybe I'm only thinking that because Nolan thought he was cute, and I want to see Nolan happy
  13. If getting to fashion week was all that mattered to Korina she is a moron, and I don't think she is a moron. Most designers look at it as a chance to showcase their work to a national audience, and to gain exposure to a national audience. In the future she is going to want to be a designer and sell her clothing in some outlet, or work for a fashion house. If she has a reputation for being a black hole of a personality, without the talent to back it up, she puts herself at a disadvantage. Even if she did have the talent to back it up. She herself said on her exit interview that she hoped the world at least got to see who she is. Well, this is who the world saw. If what even 80% of people think is that she is awful, then thats not going to help her career. And while editing can be strong, it can't make things up. As someone quoted before, editing isn't Pixar, it can't make you do things you haven't done. Production needed an event from her to milk for drama. There is no way one wayward look was going to support the "Korina is a black hole of a personality" narrative, and I think anyone who feels that way gives editing way too much credit. They aren't actually magic elves. A lot of people have called out editing for the Amanda vs. Char/Korina situation as well, and that was actually supported by a TH by Korina. No matter what editing may have wanted they can't have it unless Korina gives it to them, which she did. And they were able to support a good portion of the episode to "Korina is a black hole of a personality and no one likes her" based on what she gave them. I think Char would have been fine, I don't think it would have been fun, but I think she would have done what she could to get to fashion week. Because she is a grown up, and sometimes grown ups have to suck it up for the greater good. Char would suck it up to get to fashion week, and Korina could have sucked it up to help repair her own reputation. A wayward look, without a bitchy TH from Korina is nothing to build an episode around, whatever narrative they wanted to build for Korina would require more than an accidental look. She gave them that. And while it would have been painful for Korina, it would have been best for her to help bandage and repair her reputation. Because she had to know that no matter what, they were using her blowup from being eliminated and that was not going to cast her in a positive light, she had a chance to repair that. To me, she gave in to her worst impluses right there on camera and played directly into the producers hands. And she didn't have to.
  14. But she didn't frustrate them at all, IMO. They were able to use designer TH, and the conversation at dinner, and her own actions to create the narrative that she is an overall black hole of a personality. Her own behavior was the center for that. I think she could have stayed and been reasonable, even if she had shown disappointment. All she would have had to have done is stay and be cooperative. I don't think anyone would expect backflips from her, but for her to stay and do her best to be helpful would have been enough. I don't think the producers could have done much if Korina had said nothing, been helpful, and even had a few awkward looks. The awkward looks are normally supported by a TH of Korina saying something mean. If Korina is not giving them a TH, but just random looks, meh. And everyone's looks were getting hacked to bits, so....suck it up buttercup (to Korina, not to you). But I also don't think honesty is always the best policy. I think many times honesty is not the best policy, especially in Korina's position.
  15. I do think its a contractual obligation, which is why it seems odd she didn't see this coming. Part of the reason I would think they make you sign a contract is so they can make you do things that you don't want to do, and every year it seems like they have previous contestants "help" the final 5 or 4. If they have a "drama" couple they definitely capitalize on that. I don't know how she didn't see it coming.
  16. If anyone is on a redemption arc this season, its Tim Gunn after that UTG debacle. Him trying to be nice and understanding towards Korina in this episode, IMO was part of his redemption arc. But he wouldn't have been able to use her for his own gain if she hadn't made it so easy in this episode.
  17. Actually, in my lifetime I have gotten both a Chia pet AND a Clapper. The Chia pet was too much work, and someone else in the office took it over. But the Clapper was awesome. And I used to relish clapping my hands like that old lady (and you really have to clap hard, and with purpose for it to work).
  18. I think that if Korina stayed, and had behaved positively there would have not been much the producers could have done. They need to have a narrative for the episode, IMO, they knew they were going to focus on Korina/Char drama, and if Korina wouldn't give them anything to work with (in TH or on the show) then they either need to make the episode about Korina being nice, or even maybe about Char being hurt/mean. In the real world, sometimes you have to work with people you actively dislike. And you have to put forward your best foot for them, even though you don't like them. I had to work for a guy when I was in my mid 20's who drove me batty, because he was always loud about his political opinions which I disagreed with (just to give you a flavor, he doesn't think people who don't own property should be allowed to vote), and was always right there on the line of saying something racist. I mean, right on the line. He never crossed it, but he was right there. And every conversation we had would be prefaced with his various political commentary, and he would generally talk about it a lot. But I was working my way through school, and this job was very flexible and paid well so I smiled over my gritted teeth. People have worked for awful bosses for a period of more than a day and have managed to suck it up. Sometimes in life, honesty is not the best policy, a la Dave Chapelle's "when keeping it real goes wrong" Her actions on camera mostly made her look bad. Her ultimate fuck off for the producers would have been to have accepted, kept her head down and did the work. No negative TH's. That would have driven the producers nuts....absolutely bonkers. Because they wanted a "korina is a big bitch" storyline, and they only needed one act from her to achieve that. With her walking off like that, they were able to use the conversation from the dinner the night before to support that she is a nightmare, they were able to put in other various designer TH after her departure about her being a black hole. But all of that would have failed if she had simply come to the workroom and behaved even reasonably. They needed an act from her to center all of that around, and they got her to do it. I get suspicious of editing when they show designers "exchanging snarky looks" because I think that sort of thing can be edited together. If there was a single frame of the two of them looking at each other, I think thats real, but one shot of Korina's snarky look, and then a frame of Char's snarky look is too easy to paste together. And that entire Amanda fight seemed suspicious to me because it wasn't on tape, and it was mostly, as another poster put it "self reported from Amanda" to the cameras, and to Fade, so its hard to know what exactly happened or how bad it was, or who said what, or the tone, or anything. As for the golf clap, I didn't quite see it the same way. From my perspective the clap looked like she was trying to communicate to Korina that she was still open to working with her without being able to say anything to her. Both Char and Korina had to know when Tim said that the helper would be paired with the designer that got their outfit that they were going to be stuck with each other, and Korina's eye rolls and angry looks don't seem much open to interpretation, at least to me. But I certainly don't think Char was excited to be working with Korina, and I don't think Korina was excited to be working with her. But I think Korina could have really handed the producers a big bucket of "fuck you" and have helped her own reputation if she had worked with Char. Knowing that recently eliminated designers often have to help towards the end, Korina should have known that no matter what, there was a good chance she would be helping Char. I think the producers got lucky that Char chose Korina's outfit, but I think that even if Char hadn't, they would have trotted out the button bag to ensure Korina and Char were together. I don't know, she is almost 30. I don't know at what age we should expect adult behavior from her? And the show has no special duty to protect her feelings, if she didn't want to be center to a dramatic situation, she should have stayed home. But some expectation from her that the show is going to protect her precious feelings seems silly to me. Her feelings are no more important than any other recently eliminated designer that has to come back and help a contestant. See? Thats the interesting thing about fashion, there is no objective thing that is right. Its all subjective. I liked Char's you think it looks like a streetwalker. I think I've seen streetwalkers, and thats not even in the ballpark. I can also understand the appeal of Amanda's for someone in New York, if I saw a young person wearing that I would think "whats going on there?" and not necessarily in a bad way. I think it could, in the right hands, and with the right person, it could look effortless and interesting. If fashion was only a matter of "how not to get dirty" no one would wear Kini's either, in fact, I think there would be a bigger market for coveralls. And I don't remember Amanda's hem touching the ground so I think you could navigate a city in it without it getting too dirty, and given the colors I don't see dirt being a huge issue, certainly not any more than any other maxi dress a person would wear.
  19. I just saw it today at Sprouts, and apparently they now have BLK+ which is black water with the alluring taste of tropical punch. Blerf. Oh, I can easily see them making the jump from Bravo to Investigation Discovery. Nightmare Next Door, Snapped: Women who Kill, Swamp Murders. The possibilities are endless.
  20. Thats the thing, whether or not the producers intended for it to be an opportunity, it still was one. Personally, I think the producers were hoping for her to behave poorly. How much would she have accomplished in terms of redeeming her image and sticking it to the producers if she would have just been helpful and gracious. Even if she was hurt and it was raw. In light of her feelings, if she had done that I would have had gained respect for her. I think the last designer eliminated will always feel hurt and raw, but if they can behave professionally in spite of it, I think thats commendable. I do remember her saying that she wanted to do a darker look, something black. Not the usual bright colors she goes for, so maybe choosing the sort of fabric she doesn't normally choose in colors she doesn't normally choose was part of her thought process. And the more fabric you have, the more options you have. And it was a series of separate pieces versus a dress. So, if her initial design didn't work out, she could have gone for something with the skirt, that fails, try something with the vinyl shirt. I think your scenario is possible too, but I could see the logic in going for Korina's. LMAO. I would have died laughing if she did that. It would have been a good death, but then sad, because I wouldn't get to read all of your snark. Unless they have snark in heaven?
  21. Alright, pelt me with your snark, but I really liked Char's street look. I thought the color mixed with the print was hip, I thought the fit of the skirt was much better than anything she has ever done. I thought the pocket was dumb, and she should have listened to Tim. I like a cool pocket as much as the next girl, but you don't have to put a pocket in everything. But without the pocket, the skirt had such an...architectural feel, or artistic feel to it. Just the way her cutouts didn't go straight up the skirt, and the way they seemed to be different sizes created such an interesting effect, and with the fit of the skirt being so good, it didn't make her just look fat, and the placement of the petals was cool. I also loved the graphic of the top, and the way the top was made. I just really liked that look. The re-constructed look, sadly, was a mess. I guess Korina got her revenge. I guess I'm not fashionable, because Sean's looked like a mess to me. The whole white look just looked weird, I mean its different, but it felt like Sandaya different, where maybe no one is doing that, because its not cool. And no one wanted to say a word a giant slit up the front? In this season where hip cutouts get a side eye for being too "vaginacentric?" really? But he seems like a nice enough person so I'm glad he is through I love, love, love both of Kini's looks. I even liked the skirt, I felt like it needed a little tweaking somewhere, but the idea of the ruffle on the dark demin crisp skirt was cool. But I also loved it before the ruffle. The trench was wonderful. The red dress.....stunning. I'm not a fan of Amanda's but I can see how it represents what I think of as that new york street style. Like you're hip and sexy without really trying at all. Poor Emily, she truly did handle her elimination with style and grace. She seemed truly happy when she found out that Sean, Char, and Amanda were moving forward. Thats an honest to goodness good person, a person that can be happy for you in the face of their failure. I wished she hadn't made a hoodie, and I laughed when, in one TH, she was like "I've been waiting to make a hoodie and now I can!" I feel like she has made a few hoodies this season! I really didn't like either of her looks. Her street style looked way pajama to me, although I loved the print in the front of the womans face. And last, but not least - oh Korina.....she had over a day before she was in the workroom again. Char said, on day one, that Korina had been eliminated "yesterday", so they went an entire 24 hour cycle with her gone (their first day of work). Then, the next day, after they found out they would get a new design challenge, and after they went to mood is when she went back. So she had at least a day to cool down. She should have behaved better than that. She played directly into the producers hands.
  22. Awww, I'm feeling some Craig Robinson disgust in your comment. Now whenever you hear that Dart Ad just replace it with this little ditty. http://youtu.be/ARRyNFoPeyM You know who I don't need a guilt trip from when I'm stuffing my face with chips? A red cow with cheese earrings. Maybe I ought to pull up a chair, sit down and really taste a steak....how about that cow, or would you prefer I just stick with my box of Cheez-It's?
  23. Please do. And please be sure to tell Camilla about it, because she is really a role model, and she needs to know that :). She is from LA, and I wonder if she isn't the breadwinner in her family, so random cousins name their kids after her, so they can get some money. Or maybe she just met someone who named her kid Camilla and she assumed it was after her. I am starting to wonder about Judi. because sober Judi seems the tiniest bit manipulative, and happy to run back to the excuse of "well I was drunk when I did that, you can't count that against me!" But if you know you get nutty when you're drunk, why start drinking at breakfast? And then why be mad when people don't want to be around you when you are drinking at 9am, when the night before you acted like an ass while you were being drunk. The comment made on the show was in her confessional. I'm gonna try to link to a clip. You can decide for yourself, I know there can be shennanigans and editing, especially with confessionals, but this sort of sounds like her view of the world. http://youtu.be/qrV1_OA7TLs?t=1m34s I don't know about Judi, I like Judi, but I'm starting to feel like she may be manipulative. I mean, the day after you've caused all sorts of drama with your drinking, you're back to drinking in the morning? This sounds strange to me. and then you're upset with people for being upset with you because you were acting like a drunk ass? Of course, I think Danni and Julie were basically trying to get camera time, but I don't know if Judi is as innocent as I thought before. If Danni still thinks she is the prettiest bitch on the face of the each with all those Sponge Bob Square Pants insults people threw her way, more power to her, I wish I had her confidence. Totally agree about Redd and Natalie. True, but I'm not sure if she is one of those women that is like "well, I said what I said when I was drunk, and you can't be mad at me for that because I was drunk!" and I'm totally down with that if someone gets drunk every once in a while and acts out, but when you're doing it all the time, it starts to look like you just want to say shit and not be held accountable.
  24. But people name their children after Camilla!
  25. I too had an intense dislike for Leyana. I smiled with all of my teeth when she was booted, I think she may have cried and I was unreasonably happy about it. If Michelle hadn't had such a sour attitude about getting a second chance/winning, Leyana would have remained my least favorite....but then there was Helen...ugh. But Leyana is in my top three of hated of that season. And at least I got to see Leyana get her comeuppance when she got booted, I never got that joy with Michelle. I didn't like Patricia's designs, but I have an appreciation for her. Her ability to rise above what had to have been shade/pettiness thrown her way was admirable.
