  1. I'm more than a bit confused here. The bicycle courier, having been beaten up by Noah, just disappears from the scene? He doesn't go and tell his boss that someone just assaulted him and took the satchel of money? Very curious. Augustus has to be the most dense person in Ontario. He seems to have this child-like mentality of 'What I am doing is right, so keep on with it.' At least until the last five minutes of the episode, anyway. Noah isn't far behind with his 'I am nobody. He will say whatever I want him to say' idea of getting Mackay on the wire. Why the questions about the building that Julius owned? I would think it obvious that it was purchased with, and maintained with, drug money. What am I missing here?
  2. That was my thinking, also. At the very least, Jeananne would have leveled some charge of grand theft against him if they had arrested him. It's possible that she even knows or suspects that Pete got Maria pregnant and that there is another branch of the family out there.
  3. (Ep.3) In case anyone is interested, Holder v HLP, as cited in this episode, is an actual case. A short description: The Supreme Court ruled against the Humanitarian Law Project, which sought to help the Kurdistan Workers' Party in Turkey and Sri Lanka's Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam learn how to peacefully resolve conflicts. It concluded that Congress had intended to prevent aid to such groups, even if for the purpose of facilitating peace negotiations or United Nations processes, because that assistance did fit the law's definition of material aid as “training”, “expert advice or assistance”, “service”, and “personnel”. The finding was based on the principle that any assistance could help to "legitimate" the terrorist organization, and free up its resources for terrorist activities. The decision has been widely rebuked by many international groups. On another note, could anyone tell what was on the Schtup list?
  4. I'm not sure what Ulysses had planned by his appearance at the gala. He had that pistol on his person. Was he planning on shooting her, or is the pistol (a McCullough heirloom) some piece of evidence of Eli's bad behavior? Either way, if they had caught him at the ballroom, he would likely be in deep shit.
  5. GhostKiller wants to get out of the "InBetween" and get on with his fate. He thinks Cassie can help him do this. Cassie must be some kind of eternity broker.
  6. I was thinking that because he told the captain "I know their routes, their campsites, etc." It seemed like he was setting himself up to be the Army's guide in rounding up or killing off the band later on. Yeah, him too. That bear's got some work to do. I was referring to the last scene in Legends of the Fall. It was almost a direct copy of the action and the logic.
  7. Well, it looks like things are winding down. It sounds like Eli might have betrayed the Commanche clan to ingratiate himself with the soldiers, which is right up his wheelhouse in the future. Jeananne knows well the adage 'When the legend meets the truth, print the legend." She's glossing over Eli's actual history by making a big donation to some historical library. I hope Ulysses manages to bring out the truth before he goes down, if that's to be. Eli, Brad Pitt called. He wants his bear back.
  8. The Cartwrights? No, say it ain't so!
  9. Davis is going to be the Judge's weak spot that Teresa is looking for. With the proper planning, she could have him working for her in the end run. Sure sign of impending doom: Claiming that "this is my town." That trip out to Bourcher's farm was a bit contrived, but I guess it served the expository purpose. I was halfway expecting to see Erikya Badhu and Dan Aykroyd out there. If Mr. Kaplan was lucky enough to be swept downstream from that bridge, perhaps she made it all the way to New Orleans. There's an awful lot of clean up to do there.
  10. Maybe, but the way the show is written the entire Ranch can do whatever they want, to whomever they want, and the locals just seem to roll over for it.
  11. Props to Penn for his shout out to the old Firesign Theater - "Mr. Smartypants Communist!"
  12. His stated intent is to get back the Yellowstone Ranch, so my guess is that he is going to leverage the hotel/casino action into driving the Duttons out. I was kind of surprised they used the Chumash Casino as a model. It's clear over in California, near Solvang. Meanwhile, Beth is hard at work, being her usual self, with her own plan to own this half of Montana. I didn't try to actually figure out the numbers, but they seemed stratospherically high to be believable, except maybe to Daddy Newbucks. Cowboy poker is a real deal, but mostly at prisons where they raise livestock. Inmates think differently than we do. Okay, Jimmy. You've spent a few months on the ranch, got yourself a real hat. Now it's time to talk shit in the barrooms. Good luck walking down the street by yourself after this. I would have laughed if one of those barroom clowns had pulled a gun and dropped the bull right there in the bar. Now to explain that to Dutton.
  13. Probably the real books for the apartments and the other money laundering schemes, as opposed to the show books.
  14. She's identified as 'Esther Dunkel'. I can't remember the character by name. Poor Noah. His timing is as bad as a third rate drummer. He walks in on Anna in the warehouse, he walks up to Isaac in a drug deal, and he walks up to Anna again as she's being hit on by Augustus. That'll drive a man to drink, I tell you. Speaking of Isaac, that poor kid. He is in so deep...I hope he has better luck with a Patty Hearst style defense than she actually did. That is, if he even makes it to a trial.
  15. Some day Lexi will be channel surfing and come across the first Raiders movie, and she's going to have a 'Wait, what?' expression on her face for two hours straight. So I assume they're going to Casablanca next? Will there be a Rick's Cafe American? If so, they better have some quotes.
  16. Not to mention that if you hang a 'hazardous materials' sign on a truck, it's required to have a placard (the diamond shaped ones with a number) on all four sides of the truck. Absent that, and the PD or CHP will pull you over for sure. Game over. And those security guys should get fired, too. Your job is to watch out for things that could go wrong. You're going down the road and a random biker guy sitting all by himself on his motorcycle looks directly at you, puts on a helmet, and pulls in behind your car, and then pulls around and blocks you out of the caravan. Situational awareness, gentlemen! What was the relevance of the cat named Tank to this same named episode? There was one brief mention, unless I missed anything else, and then it was forgotten. What was the substance the J cut loose in the truck? Was it supposed to destroy everything inside? I think the police are the last people J would want in his apartment.
  17. (Ep. 2 on CBS-TV) I find it interesting that the firm went to a financier to bankroll the class action suit. I presume this is a somewhat common practice, is it not? A firm would have to pick its financial backer wisely, as I could see conflicts of interest arising, depending on the type of case. Anyway, I hope the other class action plaintiffs take up with another firm and continue their suit. Seems to have some merit.
  18. Seeing as how the Spanish were making inroads in the Southwest in the early 1600's, that would have given the two groups ample time by the late 1800's to adapt languages. That being said, neither the Commanche or Apache tribes (as portrayed here) would have anything to do with European communities if they could avoid it. So, in line with previous discussions about Ulysses's parentage, anyone want to take a guess about the possibility of Mariah having a daughter, now that she's coupled with Pete in the cabin? Maybe Ulysses has some McCullough heritage in him. Poor Jeananne - "I grew up in a family of liars."
  19. You don't think the aliens that built the pyramids didn't include that technology?
  20. I wonder if the community knows just what is in store for them down the line. Either they stand up to the cartel and all get killed, or so many of them go to jail for major drug offenses. There's no way any judge/jury is going to buy into a story about how they were forced into it. They are going to be destroyed. What happens when the equipment salesman gets home and his wife says "I didn't call the motel about you"? Yeah, Anna is no Corleone. That Colombian soldado needs to get a serious headache.
  21. So Pope wanted to be a bouncer at Deran's bar. I don't think the B rating would matter for very long after that. Craig definitely has the right idea; get someone else to move the sculpture. However, they only have a short time to plan where they're going to take the hijacked truck, and what to do after they have it hidden. And who says they're getting paid after all is said and done? Mia did blurt something like that out as soon as she got back in the car. It looks like she is trying to set J up for death, as her "foster brother" swears revenge on him. Unfortunately, if Lencho's grandmother did see the murder, she might go directly to Pete, and Mia is toast. I think the deal with the security guards was that they saw the CC footage, went all the way to the garage to go after Craig, while Deran only took a minute or two to complete his destruction, more than enough to get away before they could get back to the lobby.
  22. I think that either the locals did some research on her and found her name all over the DEA lists, or they automatically suspect her because she's Latina. Either way, rather than bust her, they figure to make bank on her earnings without having too much trouble.
  23. Ol' Eli seems to be losing it in his obsession to keep his empire going. Although that massacre was pretty scary, I gotta lay some blame on the Standard Oil team for going into the lion's den without so much as a chair and a whip. And of course his kids picked the acre with the hardest ground in Texas to dig their graves. Obviously Ingrid escapes death; the only question is how. I fear it does not look good for the remaining band of Comanches that stayed behind. I tend to think of conspiracies when a show involves powerful groups of men. The look that Eli gave to Pete when he demanded his clothes after the burial suggests he might be willing to throw him to the wolves when the cops get there.
  24. He was pretty damn Raylan Givens accurate with that Colt, too. That turd on the balcony never had a chance. I was kind of wondering while watching if they were going to throw in a cameo from Teddy Roosevelt, who Bullock had become good friends with by this time. Of course, it wasn't necessary, but it might have been cool. With all the dancing, lyrical, dialogue throughout the movie, what's going to stick with me is "I heard you singing the other day. I thought you stabbed a frog." Don't ever change, Al. Of course, I guess you won't, now. Let's hope Alma has the good sense to manage that property well. Build a railroad station, like Bullock did in real life. If you haven't read the Wikipedia article on him, he lived a real life.
