  1. I agree! I got so cranky watching Rose fling those rice ball things in and out of the pot - despite Poh pleading with her to be gentle. This on top of when Poh first said she wanted to make the dish and described it Rose nearly snarled at her about would it be good!! Still laughing at just how bad their mains seemed to be! It seems Italian specialist Laura/Lara??? is not the person to put in charge of Larb! Most of my favourites were on the orange team - I just hope Poh and Simon survive tomorrow night! Especially as they were in charge of the two entrees that were judged just as good as the other team! Kudos to Khan though! Really rose to the occasion and knew exactly what was going on and tasted all the dishes! Is it wrong that when the promo showed that boring suburban house and said it contained some sort of surprising mystery that I thought it was going to be revealed as a brothel? 😂😂 I totally agree Katisha - it was gorgeous! As was tonight's frock!
  2. That sounds like a really disappointing experience. Although I laughed at Andy spilling food and needing to change his clothes several times! Baffled by talks of 'helpers' etc - seems a bit weird! The pie looked quite thin when they showed the side on shot (out of the dish, which I was surprised about - it certainly held its shape!). She did crank the heat up and her pastry was fairly thin so it might have worked. Gosh, I hope so! Quite looking forward to that - although it looks like Jessie (????? young dessert girl) is putting everything in a sweet dish - shocker! Last nights episode: I just want Sarah's sweet and sour pork dish to appear in front of me immediately - that looks SO DELICIOUS!!!!!! Poh's pie and sides are going to be made in my kitchen very, very soon! Love that sort of food and as we are having a kind of cooler snap and we are all stuck at home that is what I will do! After I cook the Osso Bucco that is currently sitting in my fridge! Actually, I might adapt that for her pie! Amina's dessert looked so yum! Sick of Laura cooking pasta every time - but i wish the judges had cut one of them open so we could see what they looked like. I also didn't really hear her description of the sauce (if she gave us one) so if the judges had said why they liked it so much it would have been a huge help! Haydn tried - but as soon as he crushed that honeycomb I shuddered and turned away. Poor Harry - it looked spectacular but as soon as he ran around at the end and grabbed anything 'seafood or fishy' I knew he was in trouble! Not a bad episode though - cannot wait for tonight though!
  3. I totally agree but the other Ben can go home as well. More bloody icecream! So over it! Also Rose can get off my TV. I was originally excited to see past contestants back but don't agree at all with some of them (some came 10th in their season!!! Looking at you Rose!!!) For the amount of time this episode took it was actually really boring! I was hoping for another two rounder!
  4. Goodness - don't give him any ideas!
  5. Poh's face when he described his dish was beyond priceless! (Not savvy enough to get a screenshot to show you!). Ben can just go home right now! Please!!!! I was impressed that the new format is clearly based on the fans all wanting to see EVERY mystery box cook tasted - so that was refreshing! Random thoughts: I felt really bad for Brendan to miss out by so little - his dish looked amazing. I loved how excited Sarah T was from start to finish. I also loved how crispy and delicious her dish looked. Much as I love Khan his broth looked muddy - but that could have been the choice of bowls. It was all a bit unfortunate looking. Super pleased Rose's cake was too dense! I wish they would do more mystery boxes where you simply cannot make a dessert. Whoever made the custard tarts (which we were not shown a tasting of) must have used all the staples to make pastry and custard and then possibly waved a bit of chinese five spice over it? Not quite the spirit of the mystery box. So SICK of Ben and his bloody ice creams! Not a bad episode and we got lots of Simon - even though his dish fell flat!
  6. Not for a minute did I think Poh was in any danger. The ads were on every 2 minutes so knew it was a misdirect. As for tonight - I am gutted that Lynton was first out - and over bloody Rose! Although - I'd rather have a dish that lacked seasoning (ie blah!) that I could add salt etc to than something that was described as too much garlic etc. Clearly, this year, the judges are all about colourful plates etc. Not the most enjoyable episode for me - I don't think Rose can cook very well, and certainly not much out of her 'middle eastern' comfort zone. Meh, will see what happens going forward (although super happy Simon, Poh, Khan etc were safe!)
  7. No, Rose wasn't top 4 - she came 10th in her season and I don't understand why she is back. I agree! I'm also happy to be in the minority here but I have always like Poh. I don't see her facial expressions as contrived - I think she just has a very expressive face. I am really enjoying this season so far - I like the new judges, really liked Gordon all week and there are enough contestants there for me to have a few I can actively yell at the TV that I want them to stuff up and go home - and yet some of my all time favourites have returned! Fingers crossed for Lynton, Callum, Simon, Khan, Poh, Hayden and a couple of others. Ben can leave really, really soon! Looking forward to much snark from you all in the upcoming weeks!
  8. I'm really excited for some of the returning contestants (Poh, Callum, Khanh, 'meat guy' etc) but there are definitely some I will be happy to see gone (Rose, mexican 'expert' Ben etc). I do think having returning, known people is a clever way to launch the 'new' Masterchef. Can't wait! Especially as there will be actual cooking shown (unlike wretched MKR this year which is now a total travesty and rivals MAFS!!!!!).
  9. Something very similar to this was on 9-1-1 the other day - it looked kind of fun!
  10. I agree on the tanking early on. They said the components of his beet dish were delicious and just needed a little more of the vinegar yet he got 7's (I think). Then the look of disgust on George's face as soon as his main was put down was a bit offputting. As for desert they seemed not at all pleased that he had used pumpkin (even though it is often used in a sweet application) yet went into raptures over Larissa using 'unusual' ingredients. I knew he wouldn't win but I don't think he deserved 7's when the others also had issues yet got 9's and 10's. He was beyond gracious until the end, never stopped smiling and just had fun. I really hope he goes far!
  11. A betting agency, Neds, is currently running an advertisement on Facebook about their market and the odds for the Masterchef finale. Their blurb about this reads: "Unlike George, if your winner gets up in our MasterChef market we'll actually pay out what you're owed." 😂😂
  12. I agree that Larissa is totally getting a winner's edit - with food that sounds horrible to me (and I eat all the things but hers just seem to sound 'weird' for the sake of it!). I thought Tim did well in the pressure test and his prawns looked amazing but he was never going to beat whatever combination of dessert Larissa put up! I wonder if Nichole would have won had she shown more confidence and put more sauce and oil on her plate originally? I am so not looking forward to Larissa with yet another advantage tonight - as that inevitably means that she gets to talk even more!
  13. I'm fairly sure there was an extra head lying on its side at the other end of the plate, kind of under the prawns themselves. That dish looked amazing!
  14. This was a disappointing result! As much as I love Tim and have stood up for him there is no way he (or Anushka) should be here over Christina! I'm beyond pleased that Simon survived but am not happy about who made it to finals week. Has to be the weakest season ever! I will also admit to grinding my teeth every single time Larissa shouted 'you can do it' or 'go for it'. At least nobody (that I noticed said 'push it'!!!!!)
  15. Poor Simon is on the losing team again! Not sure how you miss serving 12 plates of food and then have no pumpkin left! You still cannot convince me Larissa wasn't 'kind of' stitching up Simon and Christina (who I think are better cooks than Tim and Anoushka) so she had Tim and Anoushka in finals week with her. She was the one to mention Jerusalem artichokes but gave no advice on how to cook them (I NEVER peel them!), then spent hours 'smoking' her cream (which turned out to be over-smoked) all the time talking about using her pin to save herself. Maybe she would rather be in finals week with Tim and Anoushka! Not the most exciting episode ever - not sure they got the bang for their buck they were expecting from WA!
  16. I apologise for my sooky post - it has been a hard couple of months and this was my vent! Katisha and akr wasn't you! I just reached peak 'not happy' and the posts of one or two people did my head in - I will try to do better!
  17. I'm still here but not commenting as every time I say something it seems to annoy people and they post things that make me sad! I have my opinions on all of the people and they are allowed to have theirs but I'm not interested in being made to feel bad just because I post my take on a show. Still watching though!
  18. I actually yelled out 'Yes' when Simon was safe! I feel so bad for Derek - as much as I like Tim I do think he was the weaker cook. I am also cranky that the show even gave me a second of thinking Tessa was going home as I was not a fan of hers tonight. Also, still gobsmacked that Anoushka is still there! I think Derek was a much better cook than her. I also think the 'other two blondes' should have been in elimination over Derek and Simon given they had more spoken complaints from the judges - which is all we have to go on as we can't taste the food! I will never understand why they used fig leaves and not actual figs to bump up the fig flavour in that cream! Nigella has a recipe for the most spectacular fig ice cream (that she made with Nigel Slater) that I make that is to die for. Of course, it uses Marsala and they may not have had that but it is very figgy and they could have adapted! https://witches-kitchen.livejournal.com/31887.html
  19. I'm really sad Tati went home! I do not like these over complicated dessert challenges (especially for fabulous cooks that don't do technical desserts!). Was kind of hoping Anoushka went home - but she lives to fight another day. Know most of you don't like him but I am pleased that Tim is still there - didn't think he would cope with the 9 page recipe but he did. Just to let you all know, my Tim love is that he teaches the tiny humans to grow stuff, then cook stuff, then love food and I think that is just amazing!
  20. Did anyone else see the amount of wasted food jammed under Anoushkas bench when she was having a sob? I saw at least bread and what looked like lettuce. Was willing the judges not to tell Ben any early he had stuffed the brief (they only left him 14 minutes before they pointed this out). After his inspirational talk on the way out about moving into food and getting internships etc the pop up says he is opening a taco stall at the markets - seriously Ben stick with being a pharmacist after all the study you have put into it! One of the blondes had flesh coloured pants on and, whilst she was on the gantry, it legit looked like she was wearing none - it was very off-putting! I'm so glad Simon had a stellar dish - and that Tati did well (including those poor forlorn green bananas). The Larissa love continues! Simon and Tati both used more of the wasted ingredients - Larissa just cooked a good dessert (there were no passionfruits, chocolate, hazelnuts, Tia Maria, eggs, cream etc in the 'wasted ingredients').
  21. It is the equivalent of your ketchup.
  22. Totally willing to trade anything in the world for maple syrup!!
  23. Given that a parfait is nearly a frozen pannacotta I was yelling at my TV! Ben looked horrified when he didn't meet the actual brief for his idol! So many weird dishes tonight and I am also pleased Tessa won! Not sure how I feel about taking time out for a touchy feely George moment calming down Derek who wasn't going home! Weird episode again!
  24. Yay that Simon won!!! His cauliflower looked amazing. The banana tart looked good, except my OCD kicked in when some of them fell out when she flipped it and she put just one back upside down so it had no caramel on it and just kept featuring in shots in all its pale glory. Derek's doughnuts looked so yum! I am so over pannacotta! Does no pressure test tomorrow mean no eliminations this week? Or will there be one at the end so they start next week with 9 people, get rid of one on Monday and go back to even numbers for a team challenge on Wednesday?
