  1. I'm just pleased it wasn't Justin! Kind of sad Kishwa didn't win - her dessert sounded amazing. Elise can just go home any time now 'Traditional Italian with a Twist' stops being that when every single time you stuff your pasta with 'Native Australian Ingredients'. Did the ad say no episode until Sunday? What shall I do tomorrow?
  2. I was really sad to see Sabina go - I thought she might be the underdog! However, now I am convinced all the girls will go home one after another just so they can have their 'sick bro-finale' Nothing against Pete or Justin (one of which I really like) but sometimes the reviews of the food are a bit unbelievable! I would also strongly recommend to Elise to look at her wardrobe choice - peter pan collar with berries on it was the least of the sartorial eye-bashing! Kind of underwhelmed to be honest!
  3. Dear Lord, I hope not! I want them to say this for every single episode. I am really, really sad that Elise got the first immunity, but I will live with that. Super sad Minoli was sent home - I think she is so much better than so many contestants still here. However, totally relieved that Pete and Kishwar survived! I know I stayed up late and put up the with Tenplay ad inclusion to watch but still not convinced it was worth it. So many lesser cooks still there!
  4. I totally agree. Depinder was so damn smug about it too! However, Mr Bloody Scott at one point taking a minute and a half to simply cut a prawn in half and bend each side back is a joke (I did the math) but the look on Elise's face when she realised that '80 prawns done' only meant cut in half and not actually cleaned was priceless! She was a terrible captain! I'm wondering if the 'write your own pressure test' means that as the 'twist' they will hand off their recipes to each other and not actually cook their own. Which would be super funny if you wrote a really simple one for yourself! I'm pleased I didn't decide to participate - I'd be dead! LOL
  5. Just the fact that Justin is the first into the top 10 has me shaking my head! You totally called it! I'm crossing my fingers for Aaron or Elise to exit stage left on Sunday. I also fully believe they are going to keep Depinder around until the final and then have her crushed by Tommy! Both dishes tonight sounded disgusting - so very happy not be be a judge at that point!
  6. I totally agree. He and Elise seem to be shown a great deal but don't seem to be very good cooks. Both can go next!
  7. I was thinking the same thing! Chunks of caramelized macadamia may have hidden the slight graininess. I am SO HAPPY that Conor didn't make it through and is finally out of chances to return. He was making it really hard to watch the show. He always looks kind of 'grubby' and I wouldn't want to eat anything he made because of that. Fingers and toes crossed tonight for Tom!!!!!
  8. I'm with you - everything about Aaron annoys the crap out of me. Him and Elise can just disappear and I'd be perfectly happy!
  9. I agree! Olive ice-cream should go in the bin! I was so relieved they didn't invent a sudden fondness for olive ice-cream just to keep Conor (which is what I was expecting) but the rest of the dishes sounded delicious (drama aside). Curtis Stone being made to stand full length in the video chat with the added knife belt was all sorts of disturbing. Kind of Knightish, kind of Butcherish, kind of tool! LOL
  10. At the point Wynona decided to make a granita I'm pretty sure they said 13 people were making granita so that would make 14. Plus, cucumber granita is the worst! I also agree about just how disgusting black olive ice cream would be. However, maybe if he made it savoury (at gunpoint) and added some fetta and some sort of oniony/tomato element it could have been a mad take on a greek salad and he could have said it was a starter!
  11. I totally agree - just because you love cooking dessert doesn't mean there are not better dishes you could make. My brain immediately went to that gorgeous charred Mexican corn with blue cheese instead of the Mexican cheese we cannot get out here in the country. I make a blue cheese sauce to dip it in.
  12. Sorry - I used the wrong thread earlier! Have we ever seen Menoli before? WTF was Scott doing baking a cake that has never worked before? Yay that two pins are gone! Weird episode - loved seeing Poh and Callum again but as usual, all attention was on Reynold!
  13. Nigella said it a few months ago in her new series and broke the internet! So, yes we will be hearing it all season! I have an issue with Aaron - he was a crap captain for the team challenge, then he admitted to stealing Jock's porky mac and cheese - which I could live with. However, tonight he makes the cornflake icecream that he totally stole from Larissa (who possibly stole it from Billie???). He has no inventiveness but they all act like he made up these dishes. *sigh*
  14. Having just watched Wednesday night's episode I had to chuckle at what you said Dippydee - as so many made ice cream! I love watching Tim! He is so calm and focused but has the driest of wit!
  15. I totally agree it was his time - he was fun to watch but what a lot of faffing about! There are so many people we still have barely seen on the screen. I spent a good few minutes trying to remember if I actually knew a person called Yo Yo was on the show! Some of the food looked amazing and I get really jealous of the judges just because they can taste it. Welcome back Masterchef!
  16. I scared the cat I screamed so loudly when I saw it was George! Loved the ending with Richard and Bailey also on the beach. I can't believe a doctor, knowing the guy had Covid didn't at least demand to see him and hang around until she did! Talk about lack of duty of care!
  17. In Australia quiche was definitely big in the 1980's. I had a job at a cafe that specialised in quiche (around 1985??) and I spent hours serving 'Chicken and Chablis Quice' and 'Crab and Camembert Quiche' and 'Chicken, Leek and Spring Pea Quiche'! Also, where I grew up in Australia (Canberra and New South Wales) we don't call them 'finger doughnuts' but rather 'Long Johns'. I think they were just a way of adding more toppings (cream and jam, custard and caramel, cream and caramel etc) by splitting them like a hot dog bun and piping the goodness into them. Whereas, a jam doughnut was round and just had some jam piped into its interior. Some of our Long Johns were also iced and then had cream etc piped into them. We loved them as you got more doughnut AND more filling!
  18. Those tacos looked crazy good! These kids are so cute and the judges all seem to having so much fun interacting with them. The puns just keep on coming! The dining scene has improved dramatically. I live in Wagga Wagga an hour and a half away and a very similar type of town and there are now some fabulous hidden gems in both compared to 15 - 25 years ago (although Wagga is in SERIOUS need of a really, really good deli). Can's wait to see how the kids go with doughnuts tonight! But not looking forward to any of them going home. 😭
  19. The internet does seem to love him! I cracked up when he was so enthusiastic about going out for dinner in Albury! Much like my town, not exactly the food capital of Australia. But Albury is pleased! https://www.popsugar.com.au/celebrity/ben-shouts-out-albury-bao-buns-on-junior-masterchef-47880786 I was expecting two to go (as I'm fairly sure that is what they did on the last one) so it wasn't just one worst person in the challenge but three seems a bit much. That jar of oysters looked so horrible! And I love oysters! All the kids did really well in their guesses - it is much harder than you think. The judges are super fun in this kid version, although Mel looks like she is about to cry for quite a lot of the time. Excellent show!
  20. I just finished watching last nights episode and thought it was lovely! I do think they tugged the heartstrings a few times but it seems that WOW these kids can cook! Ben's oft heard lament about not yet having his Cub Scout cooking badge was really funny! It was nice to see Sashi again too and for them to mention who he was but not make a huge fuss! I hope some of the kids we didn't see much of do get a turn (even if they are not doing fancy desserts that could rival the 'Snow Egg') that lamb rack looked particularly Yum! Dev's indian platter (but with a big pile of garlic naan or roti) would be my pick to be eating right this minute! The last Junior MC I watched I seem to remember that the one's who didn't do the Reynold style desserts were not that disadvantaged - as long as the food had 'flavour'! I do remember all the comments being very, very kind! I'm sure the new judges will be the same. I'm in!
  21. I didn't even remember him until I saw that clip! Could he have found a bigger 'gangster' coat? A few thoughts: Why was carrot lady dressed as a 1950's flight attendant? Gorgeous vege boy looked a little porky! So happy Emelia won! Plus, Jock in a kilt with a scottish accent has to be a bonus!
  22. I came here to see if anyone else was as relieved as me that Reynold was sent home. He didn't follow the recipe as 'he knew better' and his apple was a joke. He cracked out the crying, sob story for the judges. Then topped it all the the least gracious exit ever! Everyone else in their 'going home speech' at least acknowledges the other contestants but his didn't! Smug is as smug does! Go Emilia for the win! Reynold only wandered over after Emilia had sorted it!
  23. I totally agree! I missed watching it in real time and wretched TenPlay still hadn't put it up by 11pm last night (and had a worrying 'placeholder - watch Callum' notice) so I decided I'd give it up for the night and watch first thing this morning but logged into Face Book and saw the result! This didn't make watching him go any easier - and it made it all the more obvious that his first dish was far better than Reynold's dish with that really watery looking sauce and only cooked on one side fish! He really should have been in the gantry for round 2! I shall now simply soldier on until Sunday where I too will be ABR (per Katisha's post) and be cheering on Emilia as now I really, really want to see her win (although I must admit to liking Laura more now than I did in the beginning). Reynold always looks so bloody smug all the time (reminds me of our prime minister!!) which is really off putting! Don't look at Face Book comments - some really deranged conspiracy theory nutters there! After Poh left they directed their hatred to everyone who wasn't Reynold! Weird! Will the murder hornets be cooking or cooked by Emilia? 😀😀
  24. Ours used to come in a bag and you would scoop it up on a piece of liquorice or a tiny spoon. But that was 30-40 years ago when I first had it! Chefs these days seem to just sprinkle it onto the food.
  25. It is usually a lolly (like Wizz Fizz) and is a powder that fizzes on your tongue.
