  1. Long Island HH.  Another person who wanted to live very close to her parent's house.  Think you cut those ties when you get married or in their case thinking about getting engaged.  If I were him, I would put some distance between her overbearing parents and the female home buyer herself.  The looks she was giving him were anything but loving.

Young couple moving away from the beach in L.A.: It was obvious which one they'd choose, since she talked at the beginning about a white and black farmhouse. Also, since he kept talking about resale there was no point in even thinking about the two places on busy streets.

She was right to keep saying that the first thought should be how the house would work for them NOW. He made no sense with his yammering about resale. In the first house he said the floors were too old because they were "last year." So how could any changes he wanted right away work when they sell in a few years, as he kept saying?

Eta and WHAT was his constant use of the word "connectivity" all about??? As in, he loved the connectivity between the first kitchen and the yard. Must be a UCLA MBA term.

He harped on about the missing towel ring in the first house but didn't make mention about the missing refrigerator in the kitchen or the heated towels racks in the bathroom.  They did end up buying the home anyway.  A lot of foolish drama.

Principals in WA:  Do they even like each other?  If that was supposed to be playful banter between the two, it was incredibly awkward.  Surely they have agreed to have a child because if she was unsure or didn’t want one, why would her fiancé keep needling her about it on national television?!?

Because he's probably on an ego trip to produce a male heir.

These are two professional Asst Principals.  I would suspect they are in their late 30's or early 40's.  He already has 3 children from a previous marriage.  They are buying an expensive home.  If she leaves her job to parent a newborn that might impact their ability to manage their finances.  Even after she returns to work, they would have to consider the cost of childcare AND he still has financial responsibility for at least one of his children.

Wouldn't a reasonable person assume that they would have decided between them BEFORE MAKING WEDDING PLANS  whether or not they wanted to have children together???  She referred to "negotiating" the subject.

I always feel sorry for children being born under a "coerced" situation where one parent isn't 100% IN for the prospect of being a parent.

My belief is DON'T HAVE CHILDREN if you're not 10000% committed to the role of parenthood.  That includes THE COST of raising a child.

You can divorce a spouse but children are a LIFETIME responsibility that can NEVER be severed (regardless of how dysfunctional the relationship may be there's always a connection)!

Think the upcoming marriage might be on shaky footing.

A lot of the hype you read about military salaries being low is BS.  Those that make a career out of it are set for life. Never mind all the government & local benefits. Meanwhile seniors who actually need it, get squat unless you are destitute. Same for teachers in certain areas. I know an art teacher who has students  that can barely speak English , so what are they really getting from her class and she makes 6 figures a year.

But he isn't getting full salary now, at the most 50% of his naval aviator salary.  That's a little hard to swing a $2,500,000 house on unless he is supplementing his retirement with working full time now out in the corporate world.

Colorado newlyweds - I liked them and just incidentally I appreciate how long they spent together before they got married. It's so important with kids not to rush in.

I can't believe they didn't go for House #1 if it was available when they were looking. House #2 was so crowded with neighbors. it's not like they were moving to the area and needed to find friends for Tripp. They threw me off by taking off their shoes. I'm losing my edge!

Still, I liked them both and I'm glad they found something they liked.

Learned a new word from that show "grody".  Guess she thought she was "kool".

Am I the only one who was confused about last night's HH's reason for buying a vacation house in the Naples, FL area?  First it was for the large family, all of whom would seldom be there all at once, then it was for the parents who spend 2 months in Florida every year, then it was for rental purposes.  That woman was all over the map.  What did she do to be able to afford that as a second home, which by the way she stated she was the buyer many, many times.  I think even her twin sister got a little tired of hearing it.  And did I hear correctly that her parents have been spending $20,000 to $30,000 a year rented houses in Florida and hosting the family while they are there?  I really should not have erased that video so quickly.

As for the houses, I wasn't over impressed, especially when the realtor showed them a 1,000 sf house which would have been OK for a couple of people, but not the sister who has 5 children, and definitely not for 16 or 17 people that the family included.  That was an obvious decoy.  Anyone want to tell her that a screened pool area will not keep out a determined alligator or snake?

That is one close family for sure!!  Not my cup of tea.

I stopped watching Florida Vacation home in the first few minutes. Her voice was so grating! Plus I have zero interest in Florida. I did see the very end when she was screeching about buying the biggest and most expensive home. Good for her 🙄

She was over the top IMO.

  8. Scottsdale's house hunters.  Have to wonder where they are getting all of their monies to send him to commercial flight school and buy a house at the same without having a job.  Not sure her job pays enough to do that.  And just because he gets his license doesn't mean that he will be based there or even have a job there.  But then again, he boasted he doesn't bother watching their finances.

04-11-23, Miseducation of Metcalf 2" 4.17, I'm sorry I'm behind on it, but DVR still holding, also gives me something to watch over the summer. I don't want to pay extra to see Criminal Minds just to see Rossi swear.

My big question is how did press hear one girl might be pregnant? Only Kristian and Ray were in the motel room.

I liked Hana taking Graham down, but theoretically,  soon to be alone, he could do it again.

I also thought maybe the tobacco less smoke that Patrick blew in Mayas face, was making her and Bethany cult followers.

Thought the same thing about the press.  This episode was like a throw back to Patty Hearst.  Thoroughly enjoyed it.

They call it that so they can overcharge everyone!

Last time I had luxury vinyl floors was in the 1970's in my kitchen when everyone was buying Armstrong Congroleum? vinyl flooring for their kitchens.  Glad that trend didn't last.  Hated that floor.

Depending on his exact job, there are huge bonuses for staying active duty.   I believe he said he's a pilot, so if he was smart with saving, and investing, then he's fine paying that much for a house.

Still question the source of the money.  Had/have many retired USAF/USN flight officers friends and this just doesn't jive.

Corpus Christie, TX: the military should really promote military pensions in their recruitment ads. A $2.5M budget on their retirement home after recently launching three kids? Yowza.

I thought for sure that they'd pick the one under construction. Seemed to fit their needs much better. Where's his boat going to go in the $2.7M home with no boat dock that still looked to be a half mile walk to the beach?

The money had to be coming from some place else.  His retirement wouldn't cover that type of mortgage.

Yes, years ago there was an episode, I think near San Francisco, but I could be wrong.  Butters the labradoodle (or something like that) had to approve the house and yard, and was allowed all through the three prospective homes.    There have been others who had their dogs in prospective homes too.

While I am a big dog lover, would draw the line at prospective buyers bringing their dog into my home.

Frankly I thought the Indiana HH was making a poor decision by buying a huge family house when it appears that her family is almost grown and on the way out.

Besides the cost of purchasing a home, it also costs more for utilities and I would assume property tax as well as maintenance in general.

And for what purpose - if the kids are launched as adults parents shouldn't want them to remain at home unless there are unusual circumstances.

If the kids remain in the area, why would she need bedrooms for them to say in? When I moved out I stayed in the same general vicinity, and so almost never would have stayed overnight at my parents house.

Indiana is a relatively low cost of living area so I assume that apartments are affordable unlike some areas like Long Island where apartments are so expensive that it is an economic necessity for some new graduates to move back home.

I also thought there might have been an unhealthy dynamic with the girl who was on the hunt - between saying how much she relied on her AND the girl coming back twice a month to visit. I went to college a bit further away than that but it was drivable for a weekend theoretically - but I went back for Thanksgiving, Spring Break and Winter Break. I had zero desire to go back home on the weekend when I could have fun at college and I think my parents were probably relieved to have the house to themselves :-)

    My thoughts exactly.

Possible but not probable that he would stay 20 years as an enlisted man.  Not a lot of forty year old corporals out there.

There are a number of insurance agencies pulling out of hurricane-prone areas.

A lot of military personnel start their service as enlisted and retire that way especially if they don't have a college degree. Nothing wrong with that.

Topsail Beach episode, the wife must make a very good salary, and I'm wondering what rank the husband was when he left the Marines after 20 years.  The entire time I was watching the episode, I kept wondering how much property insurance was going to be on any of those houses.  It only take one strong hurricane to wipe them out.  With their oldest child being 18, there are college expenses to think about with that one, and the other 6 behind him or her.  So many questions! Re the back up generator, if the house is severely damaged, that elevator will be of no use even with a generator.  The generator (if there was one) and AC units weren't visible in any of the photos, but they would definitely be elevated to avoid flooding, but wind doesn't care how high anything is.  South Louisiana here, and we hold our breaths every storm season.

In their wedding picture, he was wearing an enlisted uniform.  Unless they sent him to OCS, he retired as an enlisted marine.

SEven children from 18 to less than a year.    I'm wondering if they will be able to build under the house for her office?   I've heard that the stilt houses aren't allowed to have permanent living areas under the house.     I hope there's a back up generator for that elevator.    At the price point for the house they bought, is there really budget left for the big pool the wife demanded?

That 18 year old  has to be really mortified that he has a 7 month sibling.  They really should stop cranking out those kids.

I thought the bungalow was a steal for all that land, especially compared to what she got for the same price range off island and in the townhome. The shared bedroom wall in the townhome would have been a deal breaker for me.

In the bungalow, during the reveal, the barn door in the living room was open to what appeared to be a small dining room.  It was kept closed during the initial walk through and they specified that the island was the only option for dining.  I really wanted to see that room.

Found the house and that little room is an indoor laundry room with washer and dryer.

    It's numbered S237 E 8: A Showdown in Cincinnati

I rewatched the end and his name is Grant Taylor and here's his FB page: https://www.facebook.com/granttaylorrealestate/

He's based in Columbus, not Cincinnati. I couldn't make it past the top of his page where he said "Award winning Real Estate Agent whom has been featured on HGTV, serving Columbus & surrounding areas!" As Glark used to say, Good Grammar Costs Nothing!

Whole thing seemed phony.  Columbus isn't anywhere near Cincinnati.  Wonder if he is even licensed to sell there.
