  1. It seems like the planned story was going to be Whit eventually breaking up with him because he wouldn't move, which wouldn't be that bad for his reputation (even with TLC's bad guy edit he still comes off more reasonable) plus he could advertise the bar. However when the baby news broke, they had to incorporate that as "cheating" or blow their cover this was all fake. I hope he got paid more for going along with the "cheating" story though.
  2. The shirtless poster of Glenn is back. I know everyone has different standards for normal but I still say it's super weird to have a poster sized photo of your shirtless father just hanging out on the wall. It's not like it's a family beach trip scene, it's just him and her focus on it is creepy.
  3. TLC can't even come up with a plausible script for this. Why should we, the viewers, side with Whit on this? Given what we were shown about each of them, it makes much more sense for her to move rather than him. Her "resentment" just comes off a super petty and selfish. I get they showed Babs maybe needing help but it's just a few hours away. Not to mention she was willing to move to Charlotte for the once a week videos with Ryan, but not Wilmington for a fiancee?
  4. TLC is terrible at their writing for this show. Last season when they went to Paris they chose to portray them as all sharing a hotel room too, when the obvious thing people would do in real life is have the "couple" have their own space. This isn't college kids at a tournament cramming everyone in a room to save money, it's a romantic proposal in Paris. Even if TLC didn't want to shell out the actual money for more rooms, they easily could have just pretended there were more in the talking segments and shown them going in one together. It's not like they film 24/7 so we'd discover where everyone actually slept. I don't know why TLC doesn't put an ounce of logic in their plots. It's so logic defying that it's distracting, and you're right that viewers are going to be on Chase's side for this.
  5. The "Chase not wanting to have kids" storyline always seemed like a TLC backstory setting up the inevitable split for irreconcilable differences. Sow the seeds of doubt and at the end have him pull an attitude for a few episodes, then Whit could break up with him and seem empowered. I think the girlfriend getting unexpectedly pregnant was just an ironic twist of timing.
  6. Is calling people older than you Mr./Mrs. still a necessary sign of respect post-adolescence? I'm 30, and it seems very weird to have to call 45 year olds Mr./Mrs. unless it is a professional environment or they have some kind of power/influence I'm showing deference to. For casual acquaintances I wouldn't think twice about using their first name if they were introduced with a full name (i.e, "This is John Smith. Hi John"). For a potential mother/father-in-law, I'd probably use it just to be safe, although it seems more likely that partners my age would tell me not to as it would seem awkwardly formal. If I introduced someone to my parents I wouldn't expect them to call them Mr./Mrs, although my family is pretty casual overall.
  7. The whole hotel in Paris this was so weird, like TLC wasn't even trying. They could have easily booked 3 rooms, filmed in 2 (presenting 1 for Whit/Chase, 1 for Ryan), then once the cameras were off everyone go back to their own spaces. It's not like the hotel was crawling with paparazzi watching their every move.
  8. I don't know who Chase is with but I wouldn't be out parading a newborn around in this pandemic.
  9. I was just happy to see she was wearing actual clothes, until I noticed the third pic. She has a lot of sports bras that she wears as tops, but really needs one to wear under actual clothes too. As a top heavy girl myself it's not just for a sense of modesty, that lack of support is going to hurt even just walking around.
  10. One thing I still don't get is how this whole leak started. Chase has been living his own life offline while keeping up appearances with Whit. It seems like it wouldn't have been difficult to keep his secret girlfriend still a secret (from the public at least), even while pregnant. No one knew who she is or that it's Chase's baby. Did she not want to keep things on the down-low anymore? Maybe Chase decided he didn't want to keep up this double life? I'm curious how the cat got out of the bag. It seems like TLC would want to keep it under wraps if they could since it kind of kills their season and exposes the fake relationship.
  11. The way he phrased it sounds like announcing a business deal that fell through. Oddly positive despite delivering unfavorable news, while still somehow being generic toned. Definitely not someone feeling sadness or guilt over a serious relationship ending. I'm sure this is awkward for Whit, whose no doubt scripted ending to all this was a lot more "empowering". It also really gives more credence to people's theory he was just hired to fill the role given the lack of emotion tied to this, and their overall chemistry all season. It would be really embarrassing to have to admit this was fake and lose the plausible deniability TLC was angling for, and this kind of just laid it all out there. Everyone knows things get fudged but an entire fake relationship is a whopper to try and pass off.
  12. Wow Buddy's looking rough. I mean, he's always looked rough, but he easily looks late middle aged there. Maybe it's the "dad doing chores" outfit or hairline but I would have easily said 50+.
  13. Is anyone going to ask why she's doing this with Buddy instead of her fiance? Lol
  14. I'm still in the camp Whit knows this is a fake story. She's just not that good of an actress to pull a relationship off this calmly. If she really thought they were in love she'd be way more obsessive, like she was with her other relationships. There's zero passion when talking with/interacting/posting about Chase. But even with it fake, it must sting to A- have a network buy you a boyfriend for a story, and B- have that fake boyfriend not even stay in character and go off to knock up someone else. Although there's still option C- this is fake too and just the pre-planned end to their story.
  15. I think it makes sense she wouldn't go out, because at her size she's definitely high risk. However having Buddy drive 2 hours each way to come deliver food himself is just dumb. He's not exactly a slim guy himself so his risk is high too, plus he's going to be exposed getting gas so often too. Just use a local delivery service like everyone else. A one time drop off for an emergency if they had trouble getting a spot might be ok but as a habit it's super wasteful and risky. Also where is Glenn? He's high risk too and shouldn't be going out to work daily, but why would he be isolating separate from Babs?
  16. It seems like it's been years since they broke up. Plenty of time to go from hurt to angry to disgust. TLC's been dragging this out forever.
  17. I've said it before, but that group dynamic is so creepily incestous. Greensboro is not a small town of 100 people with no other options. It's frankly weird how they've all dated/slept with each other and keep circling around it. Honestly I'm so thankful I left my hometown for college and never looked back. Living in the same area, with the same friend group, has clearly stunted these people well into adulthood.
  18. The editing and overall effort this season is so low. Why do they bother showing them asking for alone time then calling her dad? Why the obviously dumb room arrangement? Why put the kids argument right before the proposal? So much dumb scenarios even from TLC. Chase and Whit have zero chemistry and it's so obvious.
  19. Anyone see this post? What a weird group dynamic.
  20. You'd think they'd at least have her change between scenes to make it look less obvious. That's like video production 101.
  21. Got to agree with Chase, not a super flattering photo (for either of them). When your hairline is receding, a tight pulled back bun only highlights it. And I'm not sure what's going on with her knee but it looks like she's popping out of her socks/tights.
  22. Back when BGDC was her thing, I thought that could really become a solid franchising business- kind of like Curves but for younger women, and this show would be a great way to raise market awareness. I bet a lot of gyms could see a solid niche of young overweight women wanting a fun way to workout and meet up as a group. But she didn't do anything with it and it's faded way. It's sad she doesn't seem to have either the ambition or a good agent because she's not got much else as a financial back-up other than living off her parents.
  23. It's definitely one of the higher priced vacation options for Americans and not just a quick getaway. Chicago-Paris is at least $500 per person roundtrip, and more in summer. Add in hotels/food/local transport and sightseeing (which are more expensive given it's such a destination and people are trying to have fun) and it's easily several thousand for just a couple. And if you live in small town you have to add a stopover and travel fees to the closest airport. Not to mention it's an 8+ hour flight so add another 2 vacation days just for flights. Flying 1/4 around the world is a big privilege and event for a lot of people. Lots of international people want to see glitzy Las Vegas or LA too but lots of businessmen groan when they get sent to corporate conferences there too. It's all about what's different and foreign to you.
  24. There's probably some contract clause preventing it, but once this show is done for good I hope Heather, Todd, or anyone else clearly letting themselves be dragged through the dirt for money finally lets loose and posts a long rant about what they really think about her. You know they have stories that would scar.
