The episode was lame, but on an interesting note the pinup girl in Jackson's trunk was Mark Harmon's mom, Elyse Knox.

Me too! I remember that too. They've used the married man has secret girlfriend with baby before, too. The first time it was a cop who was killed in the line of duty and had two families. Hawaii Five-0 also did the exact same story a few seasons ago, but it was the daughter who had her boyfriend kill her cheating father. All cop shows recycle the same stories I guess.

Good question. It feels like he's barely been seen this season. I like Danny and I thought this episode was pretty good. The "who dun it" was obvious, and the Frank story was kind of meh; but at least they avoided politics for an entire episode! Woo Who!
-
LOL! My beef with it is that it didn't make any sense. The guy spoke english with no foreign accent so there was no reason for her to suspect he was an immigrant (legal or otherwise). And claustrophobia is common, but they acted like he's the only claustrophobic person to ever get arrested. And how was Frank going to handle the backlash from the rank and file who supported her? The Nikki story was stupid as usual, but the last name issue is beyond stupid. Her name is Boyle! It's like this show is being written by 7th graders for a 7th grade audience.

Ugh..another nonsensical immigration story. WTF happened to this show?
-
I thought this one was ok, but nothing special. The Erin story was something we haven't seen before so I give them credit for mixing it up a little. The principal holding the class hostage was pretty far-fetched, but why were Danny and Baez on this case in the first place? They're homicide detectives, but no one was murdered.
-
If we're getting rid of characters, I vote to ditch Eddie and bring Vinny Cruz back from the dead. They could also ditch Baez (she's so blah) and bring back Jackie, too.

I think it's become less conservative over the last couple of seasons, but I think the real difference is something else. In recent seasons, they have tried to cram in every political buzzword and issue imaginable and it's gotten sort of ridiculous. In the real world, every crime or police action is not political. Sometimes, crime just happens and cops just figure out who dun it and catch them. Why can't they get back to some of those kind of stories?

S01.E12: A Computer, a Plastic Pony and a Case of Beer
Magnumfangirl replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Young Sheldon
Me too. Missy and Georgie are stealing the show! They're hilarious. I like the show better than TBBT, but Young Sheldon's version of Sheldon is not funny. He just stands around looking bewildered at everyone's reactions to him. -
What is the Explorer program? If it's for kids who are interested in being cops, why did nobody raise their hand when Frank asked "Who wants to be a cop?"

April? At least Monday night is a better night than Sundays. I guess it will run til mid-September.

The Queen Mum is almost always portrayed as kind of snob in movies and TV, but when you read about her that doesn't seem to be the case. I didn't like that scene either and I didn't like her criticizing Billy Graham either. According to Graham's biography she was always warm and friendly to him.
-
I watched this documentary and was struck by how much Sarah Chatto looks like George VI. I don't think any of it is a fairytale, when you read up on the extended family it's more convoluted than the daytime soaps! I just wish the show would portray the Queen and the rest of them having a little fun once in a while.
-
Yes that's what it was because I lol'd and said "just wait a few years, your grandson is going to show you what naked really looks like!"
-
The audio issues are worse on on new style TVs because there's no space for decent speakers. The sound on almost all current TV shows is awful. I have no problems with old stuff on MeTV or old movies on TCM, but every modern drama has the mumbling issue across all networks and platforms. I think it's supposed to be some kind of artistic style or some other nonsense excuse.
-
Yes, they should put some of that sort of thing in the show. As it is, they aren't doing much to humanize the queen or any of them.
-
I just finished series 2 and I have to agree with others here that it was not as good as series 1. Series 2 just made everybody seem so miserable. By the end, the Queen was the only one left with any likeablity; and she was unhappy most of the time. When you look at pictures from this era, they all have big smiles on their faces and look like they are having fun. I know a lot of that was for PR purposes, but some of the pics are candid shots! This show just wants us to see them as a bunch of pathetic sad sacks. Even at 91, when the Queen is seen in public she looks like a happy upbeat person. It's always been said that the Queen has a wicked sense of humor and laughs a lot, but we've seen none of that on the show. They've made it all so dreary, the last 4 episodes were boring.

Anyone else feel different about Friends now...
Magnumfangirl replied to neverclearone's topic in Friends [V]
If that's true, it would have been strange. Outside of Monica & Rachel, Chandler had the longest history with the group. The 6 were all lead characters, but I always thought the show was based around Ross & Monica and then how the others connected to them. I remember them saying that too. In the flashback episode where Joey and Chandler become roommates, Monica was interested in Joey; but at the same time there were hints in the early seasons that Monica and Chandler were going to be together. -
Best episode of the season. The dinner scene was stupid, but the rest of it was good.
-
Finally, some news about the show's return! If they start on Jan 7th and run for 21 straight weeks that would put the finale at the end of May.
-
The writing used to be good. They understood nuance and subtlety, but no more. The writers have gotten lazy so they just slam the audience over the head with a sermon every week.
-
Worst. Episode. Ever. Comically bad.

There's a lot of shows I don't watch because of political agendas. Blue Bloods has done 3 episodes (that I can remember) since January with an illegal immigrant story. They need to get off of this topic because this show is not going to sway public opinion. I just wish they would get back to a little more of a crime drama format and scrap the politics for a while. Politics is consuming every aspect of everything right now. Besides how did Jamie and Eddie know they were illegal? It's supposedly NYPD policy not to ask about immigration status and I don't think the woman was going to volunteer that info to a couple of cops. This why it comes across as a "political agenda" because there was no reason for Jamie and Eddie to look into the woman's background. It was just written to give Jamie and Eddie another "bleeding heart" story and that's gotten boring. So how about they do some crime prevention or catch some bad guys for a change?
-
I agree. Hitting on your rescuer's wife! How stupid can the guy be? Plus, he looks like he's 15. Ugh..
-
I didn't get that either, but I think some of this is handled differently in NYC/state than it is in other states. I thought of that episode, too. The show seems to constantly repeat the Jamie plots; they need to let him take the sergeant's exam for a fresh storyline.
