Eh, I think Kelli is great at marketing the team. The problem is that her role is to be both the director and the coach. They should let her run the operations, but she’s definitely not a good coach. Separate the 2 roles and have the coach choosing the girls and support them and then let Kelli make the money. To be fair, the UK is the prime example of a European country trying the same approach as the US, so I get that many people will break the rules precisely because their own prime minister initially told them they should. But in general, their approach to the lockdown was much better and it’s not fair to compare the few cases here in Europe with whatever is going on in the US. Mainly, because we got good instructions here, we had to suffer through a much longer lockdown and the few countries that got the most deaths still did better than the US. You need to rely mainly on the citizens’ goodwill and critical thinking, so for me someone who chose to be on the spotlight and be a “local celebrity” should absolutely be held on a higher standard.

Why is Savannah a contender for GL? This isn’t supposed to be just about seniority and she’s one of the softest dancers they have. Considering that there’s no chance they will demote a 2GL if she chooses to return (Heather was a very specific case), if she stays for a 5th year they will have to make her a GL. She’s not fit to lead a group as their point. I’d rather see the true standouts get their shot at triangle and leadership without factoring in seniority. We already lost Bridget too soon, we have a really strong 3rd years group and I want them to get their shot before they resign.

I think that’s the case to be honest... I have slight hearing loss too (and fwiw, sounds like she has a bigger problem than me) and I’ve had people think I ignored them when I couldn’t really hear they were talking to me/about me. And when you’re not hearing well, most talk sounds like gibberish and annoying noises if you don’t concentrate so I kinda get it. That being said, I’m not sure that’s the case with her so I’ll refrain from criticizing (for once!)

I personally think she is good enough for triangle, but what we can all agree on is that compared to the triangle we actually got, Heather deserved to be point. They put all GLs in the triangle and apart from the fact that Tess isn’t triangle material, it was SO off balance. Why put one if your tallest IN the triangle and then put a ‘short’ girl behind point? What the hell?

Well, anyone who had to postpone or cancel an important milestone has the right to be upset. But honestly, I’m not going to feel sad when thousands are dying daily. And that’s without mentioning the economic impact this has had to millions. I know dcc are always tone deaf and on their own little world, but responding to a valid criticism with “it was hard to cut down the numbers” is just on a whole different level. I was never a fan and it’s purely because Yuko had no place in the team and she was basically used to promote Kelli’s vision. She couldn’t speak English at all so she wasn’t a great ambassador and she wasn’t a good dancer. Seems like a sweetheart, but that’s not really the point.

Right, because Kelli in general is known for not choosing ratings & drama over having a stable team. I’m curious how we got girls that are still in college outside of Dallas? I supposed they’ll be attending online or something.

I know this isn’t the place, but for me, given that the US has almost 115.000 deaths, the whole “lockdown is over, let’s move on” mentality doesn’t impress me. You don’t need the government to force you to stay home, or keep a safe distance and take the appropriate steps to keep a freaking pandemic. The lockdown was a necessary step because people can’t take reasonable steps on their own. Unless you want to be forced into your homes again, yes you do need to take some steps yourself. Spending a summer with minimal contact with other people isn’t going to kill you, coronavirus might.

Yes exactly! They were so many good options for GL and all “honors”. Now, you’re pretty much guaranteed to take a GL position just because you stayed, but the best girls leave early. There’s no chance a girl like Amy or Tess would’ve ended up as a GL or point/triangle just a few seasons back. It’s sad that they have SO many good options within the rising 3rd years, but we will repeat last season’s triangle which is probably the worst triangle they’ve had since the beginning of the show. I don’t blame Amy or Tess for sticking around though; I think even they can tell they got lucky. Aaand they lost me the moment they bumped Maddie, a scared little girl, straight to GL just to say f u to Heather. She wasn’t ready for the job, she was completely out of her element and she still can’t take the lead. Not everyone has to be a leader so I’m not trying to hate on Maddie, but I’m certainly judging kelli. Yeah I’m sad to see them go, but I definitely get it... I’m still pissed they treated Heather so poorly and condemned us to this snoozefest for 2 years.

I don’t know if Texas allows you to have weddings with guests -if not, then Lacey is indeed an idiot, if yes, then I’d blame the governor or whomever makes these decisions. But in any case, she’s been engaged for 6 months, she could wait a little longer to get married. My best friend had been planning her wedding for a year and a half and had to postpone and wait one more year. She was devastated mainly because of the planning that went into it, but who would risk harming their loved ones just to have their “dream wedding” during a pandemic?

They would essentially have to demote Tess though... that’s why I assume they will keep the rotation for at least this year, but the change will be that Tess will start in the triangle for “Amy’s” small section and then move behind point where she should have been all along.

So what, did she confirm essentially that normally she would take girls to TC she wouldn’t “see on the team”? I guess point and GLs are known already, unless they rotate point again so we’ll have to wait and see who will replace Amy. Triangle too as sadly, none of them retired so we’re in for snoozefest vol.2

Savannah is a lovely girl, but I’d be surprised if she was chosen as a GL... she is always one of the weaker dancers in her group even as a vet. Even as a 2nd, you need to be one of the best in order to lead the group, as well as to catch they eye. Brennan I could see as a 2nd, but I feel like this will be her last year. On one hand I think it’s great that they are giving leadership opportunities to the girls they feel are up to the standards, but on the other hand it seems like they give these positions to girls who end up retiring, which is why they are lacking in leadership. I mean, Maddie got 1Gl without ever being a 2nd and it showed. But in any case, if they put Alexis and Miranda in leadership positions, Brennan would be an improvement for sure.

Well he is concerned, but it’s also realistic for a teenage boy. Meanwhile, he’s super protective of his sister, he is always publicly supporting Devi and didn’t deny her rumor, which any popular guy would have done just to preserve his reputation. I like that he seems more layered than that. I think her endgame would be leaving for Prinston as a single college freshman to be honest. They might go for the “Ben ended up at Prinston too” or “going long distance with Paxton”, but I think I’d rather see her work on herself and realize that she has more to aim for in a sense. And I think that’s what they are building towards since the therapist kept trying to get her to work on herself, her friends told her pretty much the same thing and so on. We’ll see! I could SO get behind this! These scenes would be hilarious, all 3 actresses are amazing. THAT’S IT. I couldn’t pinpoint it but you’re so right. Now all I can picture is Chad during his OTH/Cinderella Story years. Thank you for this. Honestly, this show is probably the most inclusive/diverse we’ve ever seen, yet somehow they slipped in the “fat guy” joke? I can’t say i appreciated the “joke” with the Greek student who of course stole from them and tried to seduce the mom. These two almost made me regret watching the show, but it really is good for a teen show.

Honestly, I was certain they were going with Devi blaming her mother for her dad’s heart attack, but I think the actual storyline was much better. As for Paxton, I do think it was unfair. He has shown to be nothing but kind. Definitely not what I accepted out of this character.

Normally I don’t mind Kat’s “extraness” so much, but dear god that was so over the top. Maddie was cringe-y again, she really can’t do public speaking. Bridget, we all love you and that was so well deserved 🙂 Did she move to Arizona? Or was Heather back just for the call?

Exactly! I mean, from the current GLs only Maddie was definitely going to get GL. Heather too, but she had one year in the doghouse so honestly, i’m not sure if she would have been forgiven if Kelli had any other options for GL. the GL announcement used to be exciting, but nowadays we already know who’s going to be 1GL. I’d love for PBC to finally go to someone who isn’t the point or even GL, otherwise we already know it’s going to Maddie.

Looks like Heather is a top notch boot buddy and leader 🙂 That’s because these awards are given by the team. I’m sure Kelli would interfere if she could do so without the girls figuring it out, but I assume words get around and they all know who voted for whom. She probably expected it since for the past few years all honors were going to the same few people. I for one I’m glad that at least voty went to someone else. I miss the old days when we had multiple upper vets and it was hard to guess who would get which honors. Now if you’re willing to put up with this for more than 3 years, you already know you will get GL, PB, apparently even triangle and most probably VOTY.

I’m not surprised and I think it makes more sense than hiring Sam for example. All I’m saying is that it’s best to gain some experience first or bringing in non-relative once in a while. And no need to suddenly push her into the spotlight, unless Charlotte is resigning or something. She went from college student stopping by for auditions, to first round judge and is always included in the podcasts -that’s actually the most baffling choice. I’d rather hear from current and past dccs that Hayley.

Exactly! Not only because it’s great content (or at least something new for a change), but if they want to keep the show going, people need to be kept in the loop in a sense. You can’t spend 15 seasons with 2 “characters” and then suddenly tune in to VK as director (kidding, kidding!) and JenK as choreographer.

Are we sure she’s retiring and it’s not a usual “anniversary” gift? i’m just assuming that for both Kelli and Judy there is some sort of clause that they need to give adequate notice and that they would bring in the replacement as soon as possible?

And that’s fine. But her future in the organization is pretty much a given. She should either start from a low position both to show that she earned it in a sense and to actually gain some experience, or work outside of the company for a little while. Someone right out of college without real-life experience won’t be able to bring in new ideas.

Yeah because God forbid they bring in someone with experience and qualifications other than being related to JJ to replace ber. I feel like 15 is too low for the merged finals/TC round though. Plus, they will need to film more episodes as I don’t think they will “film” anything for prelims and semis, so I’d rather see a big number in TC and keep the cuts coming. Otherwise they will just drag the process even more than the previous years. I mean, if your mom can secure you office positions with a guaranteed career stability, would you choose to go for dcc instead?
