I also had lost track of who had sons by who and how many. I can't remember how many children Uhtred has had over the course of the series. There was one son who became a monk (the one that Brida castrated) and then there was another son in this movie - I think the one he had with Hild?

Uhtred had 4 children total, one by his first wife when he was very young in the first season, and then 3 with Gisela.  The first child died as an infant.  He didn't have any children with Hild, but she took Osbert as a newborn and hid him.  Gisela died in childbirth with him, but he survived.  He's never mentioned again after his birth, so we don't learn what Hild did until the very end of the finale of Season 5.

After Sigtryggr’s death, Stiorra leaves with what is left of their Danish followers because she will not live under Edward.

Hild would most likely have returned to her Holy Life.
Eadyth was a travelling healer so may have moved on. When asked, Uthred said he “had no woman.”

Sithric’s family wasn’t seen or mentioned. No explanation given.

In the season finale of the show, Stiorra is last seen hugging her family in Bebbanburg.  A comment or two about when/why she left would have been nice for us non-book readers.  But I also know that in the books, Eadith doesn't necessarily move on...

Also, Finan's and Sihtric's sons (assuming they had some and not all daughters) should have been old enough to fight with them, and there was no mention at all.

There were just a few "holes" that I would have liked to see explained.  It would have only added a few minutes.

I was searching Netflix for that season and couldn't find it??? all I got when I clicked on the series was 1-4.Was it in a special cell?

I enjoyed most of it. The final battle must have taken them more than a week to film.

Loved the ending but have one question--did Brida die with her sword--I didn't think she did, but there she was laughing with Ragnar in Valhalla?

I'm not sure what country you are in, but in the US, I can find all 5 seasons in the same place on Netflix.

I don't know about Brida, but I would have liked to have seen Gisela in the final scene.  She wasn't a warrior, but couldn't she have been there too?

Wouldn't the biggest gut punch with no clear motives be Din himself? It would make no sense but I do wonder why Gideon captured him instead of just killing him.

Definitely would be!  But I think it can be presumed that we know Din's whereabouts and who he talks to since the action of the show mostly follows him.  It wouldn't make much sense for there to be flashbacks or retroactive stories to explain that he's been a spy all along.  He risked his life and livelihood in season 1 for the green space baby... I don't think that was as a spy.

  4. I watched the movie last night, and while it was mostly very good, I was slightly confused.  Either I zoned out a few times and missed things, or the editing was poor.  I'm guessing a mix of both, but at least there was enough description later to fill in the blanks.

Where was Stiorra?  Where was Hild?  Where was Eadith?  Where was Sihtric's family?  Where was Aelfwynn and her husband?  I understand that Aelswith probably died, but no explanations for all of the other missing characters??

  5. The YouTube guy that I've been watching lately thinks that the title just refers to Elia (and whoever she's been working with), and how she's been a spy for Moff Gideon and infiltrated the Republic.  She prevented Tim Meadows' character from aiding Nevarro, she mind-flayed Dr. Pershing, etc.  I hope he's right and the Armorer, Axe Woves, and the refugee Mandalorians are all on the up-and-up.

I think we'll see if Axe made it to get back-up in next week's finale.  They have to have backup and more ships to be able to come to the rescue... right?  Right?!

I'm also wondering if our annual helmet-less scene will be for Grogu to use the force to heal Din of injuries.

  6. I was getting deja vu during the episode and just realized the name I was looking for... Anyone else get Krang from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vibes? 🤣

I just saw a post on Tumblr that made me sad:  Gideon said at the end to take Din to interrogation, and the “previously on” referenced the mind flayer, so maybe this means Din will get scrambled brains.  ☹️  But on the upside, I guess that is a way to get our annual helmet off scene.

Actually, he called it the "debriefing room."  I'm now more scared...

Yes, why was this episode called "Spies"? Who is the traitor? I don't want it to be the Armourer.

Yes, I too want to know!  I was suspicious of everyone the entire episode!  I thought it was the 3 surviving Mandalorians, and then I thought it was the "sick" ones just pretending to be sick who would infiltrate after the Armorer took them to the main ship.  And then I had no idea because the stormtroopers weren't really spies, just soldiers.  Maybe next week's episode will reveal the secret to this week's title.

As for the rest of the episode, I literally laughed and nearly cried all in one episode, so that must mean it was really good.  Just... devastatingly good in a bittersweet way.  Ugh.

I never thought of the mindflayer, and if Moff Gideon does that to Din, I may never watch this show again.  The saving grace is that there are still all of the other Mandalorians in the sky and on Nevarro (or did they all abandon Nevarro already, including the kids?), so I think there will be a dramatic rescue.  Maybe Grogu can summon Luke and Ahsoka?  I obviously have no idea what will happen next week, but it better not be brainwashing.  That would be a step or two too far.

I’ve come to except that the droids are sentient in Star Wars. It’s impossible to explain some things otherwise.

IMO, the Anzellans confirmed this when Din asked if they could fix IG-11 without the part they need.  "Yes, but IG no think."

If your friends are discussing Clone Wars and Rebels, those events are in the past [relative to this show] so not technically spoilers - more like educated guesses

Good point.  I suppose I should say that it's their speculations based on their knowledge that are the spoilers.  For example, they are convinced that they know what happened to Moff Gideon (as I'm sure many others are as well).  But I'm going to watch to find out!  Except that now I know what they predict...

Huh. I’ll maybe look. Explains why he really isn’‘t doing it for me. I respond to kermit as if he is fully a person. Grogu seems like a doll. And he is!  He would still likely fall over a lot. Velcro still makes sense.

From Wikipedia:  "The puppet cost about $5 million to make, and is relatively heavy due to the amount of wires and animatronic technology inside it.  It is controlled by two technicians, one who operates the eyes and mouth and another who controls other facial expressions."  I think if he wants to sit or stand, he's heavy enough that he can do that on his own.

I assume that when they carry it the actors have a hand up the puppets butt.  I doubt it walks on its own, because it is a puppet. Someone works a puppet. The flips are done on wires. There are a variety of ways people do this and their may be one that is animatronic, but mostly they pick him up and move him from one place to another and someone sticks his hand up his butt. Elmo too.

Sorry, but he's not that type of puppet.  There are behind the scenes videos and explanations of how he works.  He's all remote controlled.  If I'm remembering correctly, there are 2 people who operate his facial expressions and one who does at least his arms, but I think legs too.  Pedro, or whoever is in the suit or holding him for that scene, is not also the puppeteer.

He may have been velcroed to it so the puppet can stand up.

The puppet can stand and walk on its own, can't it?  That's why we never see his feet.

Also, are you saying that he's only still a toddler because he has PTSD?  Did you see the episode where he understood exactly what Din needed, knew how to get back to the ship, told the R5 unit where to pilot, and then led Bo back to Din?  Not many 3-year-old humans could do that.  Grogu is smart, he just can't talk yet to show us all what he knows.  He's no pet.

I agree with you on the way the series changed. I loved the first season and the first half of season 2, because you didn't have to know anything beyond the movies to enjoy it and apperciate it. While they were may have been references to expanded universe/legends/other things, they were not critical to the plot. If you recognized the thing it was a fun bonus, but if you didn't, you didn't feel like you were missing something. That changed in season 2.

Yes.  I don't watch all the Star Wars shows and really only care about the original 3 movies.  I don't want to have to do homework to understand a nice little evening diversion.

Could be why ratings are down.  The casual fan is checking out.

I agree too.  I've seen all 9 movies, and only the shows that have come after this one (Obi Wan and Boba Fett).  I'm still okay with the fact that I don't know who some of these characters are, because I think this show alone tells us enough of what we need to know.  Bo has told us her background, Ahsoka has told us enough too.  I know that there are easter eggs and other characters from other shows, but I'm okay with not immediately recognizing them.  I have friends who put me in a group chat and they are all "Star Wars nerds" who recognize all of these people and things and then discuss - and I feel like they are spoiling it for me.  I don't honestly care, but they are definitely discussing spoilers.

All will be revealed to us in due time.  I'm okay with that.

  13. I've binge watched seasons 1-3 in the past 5 days or so, and when starting season 4 I realized what every episode should be called: "Who are they murdering today and why?"

  14. I guess if Din is going to let Grogu stay with anyone all day, it's gotta be Lizzo.  Who wouldn't want to hang out with Lizzo all day!?

I re-watched last week's episode before this one, and I caught the nod that Din gave to Bo at the end when the Armorer was announcing Bo's mission.  I just knew that the nod meant, "yeah, sure, we'll go with you" rather than just a nod of approval.  Glad that I was right!

I don't know if we should trust Jack Black's character or not, but I don't get the impression that they'll be back.  I think this was just a cute side-story to get to the main point of the episode when Bo reunited with her group again.  It's about damn time!  We know that Star Wars is nothing without fan service, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's all this ends up to be, but it could be more.  Who knows.

What's the significance of Grogu becoming a knight of that planet though?

  15. If the Mandalorians want to continue to hide, they could go back to their home planet - they can't communicate with the outside world.  All of Din's communications were going haywire and he said that they were on their own, unable to call for help to anyone.  Plus, there were all of those lightning storms.  If they are really turning over a new leaf and going to live among others, Nevarro is the best option, at least for now.

  16. This episode had a lot of faults, as already mentioned, but one thing that bothered me was when Jake said that no one supported him.  Umm... they all spent the entire episode trying to solve the mystery and prove that it was NOT him, rather than fight the fire.  How is that not supporting him?  He refused to talk about where he was and why, but everyone else proved his innocence for him.  I get that he was angry that he was accused in the first place, but he seemed a bit ungrateful that they all did go bat for him.

Since Brandon Beemer was Cook's direct replacement, it seems the writers just don't care for him. Which, okay. Then recast with someone they will write for, is the way I see it.

But to just shove the character aside altogether for his annoying sister just seems wrong, to me.

Shawn should be the Police Commissioner and a main focus of the show.  There's no reason why a legacy character should play second (or third or fourth) fiddle to a "newbie" like Rafe.  I know Rafe isn't new anymore and he's now established, but it's still just wrong, IMO.  They can re-cast if necessary; I'm sure there's a half-decent, dark-haired 40-year-old actor in Hollywood who would take a full-time role on a soap opera.
