The book skipped over their first year and a half or so living in America in the present day and caught up with them back in Scotland in 1980.

I followed the Bree and Roger storyline.  My question, just to clarify, was about Jamie and Claire returning to Scotland?

  2. So in the books, do they really go back to Scotland?  I thought that they never did...  I only read up to half of Book 5, but I thought that I'd read elsewhere that they never made it back and stayed in America.

As a non book reader the practical side of me wonders how Roger and Bri expect to jump through the stones and get medical care with no insurance, no address, no birth certificate or social security number for Amanda but with a lot of stuff on this show I have to suspend reality and just go with it :)

Claire said that she knows someone who could help them.  So somehow they will make it to Boston with no money or modern clothes, and find her friend who will just help with no questions asked.  Right?  Seems to be this show's MO...

I need someone to tell me who thought this season’s theme song sounded good.  It honestly sounds like Sinead is in pain singing it.  The more I hear it the worst it sounds.

And the end where the singer whispers is the absolute worst!!

Roger is in training to be an ordained minister. He can't get that certification at Fraser's Ridge. He's studying with the reverend and other pupils we saw, and Bree is hanging out with their wives.

    Where is their son?

Such a terrific portrayal of Tom Christie still makes me wish the show hadn't cast an actor of such similar appearance to be Richard Brown because looking away for even a second could have you wondering why Jamie is lurking in Tom's room after that sendoff.

Phew, I'm glad that I wasn't the only one!  I was so confused for longer than I'd care to admit...

I also am not nearly as invested in this show as I was in the first few seasons, so I actually forgot how last season ended.  I couldn't finish Book 5, and unfortunately the show hasn't been much better, IMO.  I still watch it - I guess just because why not? - but I have more complaints than praises lately.

I share the complaints about too much Bree and Roger (and not enough Rollo!).  I also have no idea why no one is at Fraser's Ridge?  I can figure out Claire and Jamie, sure, but Bree and Roger are just wandering about, "ministering" to people?  It's not that believable...

And finally, all the bitching about Grogu is mind-boggling. He's always been an integral part of the show. To harp on his presence is kind of annoying. If he bugs you that much (universal you) and puts a massive ding in your enjoyment of the show, maybe you should find something else to watch. Just saying.

I agree with everything that you said, but especially this part.  Grogu has been the star/co-star since the first episode.  If a viewer doesn't like him, why are they watching?

I disliked Boone in S1 and I disliked him in the holiday special.  He's annoying and so OTT.  And his singing is terrible.

Would it anger you even more to know that now Boone works for Lego?  They hired him after season 1.  So he's an insider and never should have come back for the holiday special, IMO.

So Casey, upon hearing of Sylvia’s breakup, just plops down on one knee and proposes???  Not even some conversations with her about trying to resume their relationship?  Has he even once seen the baby she is trying to adopt?

I don't think he cares, he's always wanted children.  People blame Gabby for the Louie storyline, but Casey wanted a kid just as much as she did.

Reading about these budget issues and the predictions (or knowledge, not trying to say anyone is wrong) about next season is pretty disappointing.  This was the original show for One Chicago, and it's always been the best, IMO.  (Except PD was just as good for about 3-4 seasons before it went downhill.)  Why don't they just get rid of Med and PD and throw more money at the original?

If people have to leave the show, and one is Severide, then Kidd needs to go too.  They can say that Severide got an opportunity that he couldn't pass up, and there is an opening for her too so they can leave together for a happily ever after.  If they can't afford to get Jesse Spencer back, then Sylvie can go too.  At this point, Cruz, Hermann, Gallo, Ritter, Violet, and Carter can carry the show, with Boden and Mouch as support, depending on what happens to him.  Maybe Mouch needs to become the new Kylie and be on desk duty.  If both Kidd and Sylvie were to leave in my example, however, I'm sure they could get a no-name decent actress to round out more women with Violet for a lot less money than they're paying Kara or Miranda; they could also keep Kylie.

I really don't want to watch a show that has Kidd without Severide.  Sylvie without Casey was bad enough.  (And Upton without Halstead was so much worse... though Halstead without Lindsey was the worst and started that downward spiral... but I digress.) Once they've established the relationships, they are not good at figuring out what to do when they're done.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ acting was as expected, but I thought Richard Madden would be much better than he was (I am familiar with him but haven’t really watched anything he was in).

I really like him in the few things that I've seen him in - I recommend Bodyguard and Rocketman, or the first 2 seasons of Game of Thrones (he has a smaller role in that, but still good).  Klondike wasn't bad either, and Eternals is better than the reviews, IMO.  I have yet to check out Medici and 1917, but I hear they are pretty good too.

  10. This must have released early?  Because I watched both it and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Thursday night...

That said, I have no idea what I just watched.  Or why.  Not that I'm actually confused by the plot, but by how this show got made and aired in the first place.  It had huge potential, and then... oh well.  At least Richard Madden is still pretty.

  11. If Hannah Waddingham doesn't win her third* Emmy from this episode alone, then there is definitely something wrong with those Emmy people.

*Edit:  She has only won one Emmy for Ted Lasso, and that's a travesty, too.  I didn't realize she was nominated last year but didn't win.  So she must win her second this year.

At one time, each week of shows represented approximately a day, but I don't know if that is true anymore. Since wardrobe and exterior shots are all over the map, it's difficult to put a time stamp on anything.

Actually, in thinking about it further, I think Kayla said that she was with Bo for about a month.  Like Kate had been "dead" for a month?  I think that's the storyline someone tried to put a timeline on...

  13. How much do we think people really age in ten years?  With a good diet and skin care routine, I wouldn't expect any of these spies to look significantly different 8-10 years later.

It's not like time is all that linear on this show. They can be celebrating Thanksgiving one day, and it's Christmas the next. We don't know how long it's been that they slept together unless they specify it.

I feel like someone said it's been nearly a month since the biscuit incident?  But I don't know how that can be true, so maybe I made it up...

Well, after reading a bunch of the comments, I’m not the only one that realizes that this series is absolutely ridiculous, and are only watching it for the scenery and as entertainment pure entertainment, because it makes no sense 😆

Oh yeah, count me on this too.  Plus maybe I'm still watching because I'd like to see all the horrible people get what they deserve in the end?

Second plus, some of the ranch hands are hot.

THe jetpacks are confounding as hell. It's like when the Jedi forget they have command of the force. The problem you point out is just an unforced error by the writers. If you don't make running out of fuel a plot point in an earlier episode, no one cares about how much fuel a jet pack carries. Once you bring it into the equation, a certain segment of viewers (AKA hardcore fans like me) there's a giant ripple effect. Where do they get the fuel? The Mandos on The Land Before Time planet have no problem using their jetpacks to fight a space turtle, so there must be a SOURCE of the fuel on that planet, no? Where do they STORE the fuel, both on the planet and on their person (suddenly getting shot at while wearing a jetpack seems 100X more dangerous, since the fuel is volatile enough to apparently make a space filght from the surface)? Is there something inside the helmet that displays remaining fuel? Nothing would be a dumber way to die than to start a flight without enough fuel to finish it, right? If fuel isn't really an issue, then why use Gauntlets at all, can't you just drop out of orbit?

I refuse to believe I'm the problem here.

This is similar to my question of how is the Armorer always able to set up a new forge everywhere she goes?  Her forges aren't just fires or ovens that presumably could be built anywhere, and what fuels the forge?  I guess that doesn't matter... let's just build them in sewers and caves and anywhere we please...

OK, serious - for me - post.  But how happy are you all with the resurrection of Bo so far?  And Bo's reunion with Hope?

I thought KA did a really great job today, coming face to face with Bo.  Her emotions felt real and heartfelt.  Peter Reckell, on the other hand..... not so much.  I didn't expect a lot from him when he first came on screen after all these years of being off the show but IMO he hasn't delivered much at all, at least so far and it's been a while.

I really hate to say it, but so far I'm very disappointed in Bo's resurrection.

ETA - oh yeah, what bonehead in the writers room seems to have forgotten that BO HAS BEEN A GRANDFATHER for one helluva long time, even before he died, and that kid's name is CLAIRE.

    Lood Glord.,,,,

I can't tell if Peter Reckell forgot how to act, or if he's doing it on purpose because Bo is brainwashed? I guess we'll see now, presuming he's had that "breakthrough."
