Glad to see Kylie is thriving as a candidate. In a way I'd have liked to see her get assigned to E51 to keep her on the show, but I guess cast budget issues put paid to that. They could have gotten a lot of mileage out of having her stick around.

Also going to miss Gallo, but he's been more comic relief/Greek Chorus with Cruz than anything else lately. So now we're going to need a new truckee to replace him, and a new paramedic to replace Brett, the downsides being a lot of character development episodes to come, which can really throw off the momentum of a show. Not a good thing when hoping for decent ratings in old/expensive shows.

*SWMBO: She Who Must Be Obeyed. </rumpole>

Don't we think that SWMBO will get Kylie as the new truckee?  I don't mind if we don't, I thought that Boden's line about her making her own way away from 51 is a good thing, but it just seems to "perfect"...

This was painful. The whole episode felt so awkward and stilted. It’s like the actors all forgot how to be their characters, and they got writers that are completely unfamiliar with everything. Either that or something seriously went down behind the scenes, and nobody can stand each other anymore. I’m honestly not sure which.

I think it was VERY rushed.  The writing, the acting, the production to get it on air.  This happened the last time that there was a writers' strike, and entire seasons of shows basically just became a wash.  I think NBC wanted new content as fast as possible for viewers and this was the result.

I'm not surprised that they are also glossing over the extra-long hiatus.  Friday Night Lights comes to mind as a show that really suffered the last time from a strike.  Wrapping up cliffhangers with even worse explanations is not what viewers want to see, but I think that they are just trying to move on and get back to "normal" as fast as possible.

That said, is anyone else besides Sylvie going to leave?  Cruz?  Herrmann?  We could still get some surprises.

Why does Severide look different? I can’t put my finger on it.

I think he lost a little bit of weight?  His face looks thinner.  But, all people age and change, so it could be nothing - we just haven't seen him for awhile.

The Mandalorian Season 4 Reportedly "Not A Given" After Movie Announcement

According to this article, whether or not there will be a Season 4 of The Mandalorian on Disney+ will most likely be determined by how successful the movie is.

I am speculating that if the movie is a big success, they will continue making movies and if it is not that successful they will continue to run it as a TV Series. Either way, it seems like they will not start making Season 4 until after the movie has been released in theaters.

Ugh... well then they better get on it.  We shouldn't have to wait until 2026 for anything new.

  4. I love this.  LOVE it.  All of it!

This show is what made me a Star Wars fan.  Did I watch one of the originals at some point in my life?  Maybe.  It didn't stick with me, though, I guess.  Then they make this show during a pandemic, and I must watch all Star Wars!

Give me Season 4.  Give me The Mandalorian and Grogu.  Give me the next Mando-universe movie.  I'm here for it.  Take my money, please and thank you.

  5. If she leaves because she goes to join Jay in Bolivia... 🤮🤮🤮

ETA:  I should clarify that she needs to just leave because she's a horrible detective/cop and a sullen, depressing character.

  6. I vaguely recall that Jon Favreau or Dave Filoni said that season 4 is already written?  Plus I think that the movie is still in the works, so they need another season of a few shows to lead up to the movie.  As long as Pedro will do the voiceover work, this show is probably here for awhile.  The harsh critics are in the very small minority; most people like it.

ETA:  Pedro is basically popular and in demand because of this show.  Yes, he was fantastic in GoT, but this put him on the map.  He seems like a guy that isn't going to bite the hand that fed/feeds him.

  7. I agree with everyone as well!  As an adult Lego collector, the only one that would buy would be Paul and Nealita's.  That plane was boring and doesn't interest me at all.  So what that it was big?  And I already have the Lego treehouse; Sam, next time don't build something that Lego has already done!  I'm sure that was a factor in their judging.  They can't turn a model into a real set that's already a real set...

I think Christopher and Robert are probably nice people in real life, but I didn't like their "villain" schtick, and why is Lego now telling us that evil wins?

Quite a few bad choices were made in this episode.

I'm still finding Christopher really annoying.  He is always "on" and always mugging for the camera.  Like when all the teams were looking at the Pink Ladies exiting.  Then Will says something, and Christopher does this overly dramatic superhero turn and pose.  Why?

Because the producers have asked him too, and he has an outgoing personality enough to do what they asked and pull it off.  That's my guess, at least.

  9. I think the correct team went home tonight, based on the season as a whole if not just tonight's rollercoaster.  Plus, we never have to hear the ridiculously annoying woman shriek "Christopher!" over and over again.  They should have gone home last week just for that, now that I think about it... but I did like the woman with the short hair.

I'm getting really tired of Christopher's villain shtick. I suspect his team is winning this thing, though.

When we can finally see the glimpses of his true personality, he actually seems like a nice person.  I'm definitely sick of his act too, and I don't understand why he can't just be himself.

I think it'll be between them and Neena and Sam.  I just love that she's an older woman out there holding her own!  (I know, Sam seems to be the brains behind it all, but he wouldn't be able to do it alone if she was truly dead weight.  She's awesome.)

Ukuleles are more skilled than Pink Ladies and Brother/Sister.  Thankfully they didn't sing this week.

I want so much to like Christopher and Robert but I've decided they really turn me off with their arrogance and their theatrical booming presentations.  The one that speaks more and is always on the left (I assume that's Christopher, the one with the basement of thousands of Lego sets) is nowhere near as funny or witty as he thinks he is.

Yes, they didn't sing!  They weren't nearly as annoying this week as they were in the first few episodes.

No, he's not funny at all (or even very likable).  But unfortunately, Will eggs him on.

Again, I liked all of these builds.  The weakest ones, however were more obvious, unlike the volcanoes last week.  The Pink Ladies know that they are outmatched because they said they chose the blocky robots on purpose.

I liked Tim and Tim, and I didn't think that theirs was the worst, but it wasn't great.  Tough decision this week.

I don't begin to understand why the losing team opted to ignore the very clear requirement to make a volcano.  They seemed like nice guys but they deserved to lose for not fulfilling the assignment.

I came to say the same thing.  The judges said, "we want a volcano and you're not building a volcano" so they decide to... still not build a volcano?  Right.  Even if it had worked, they deserved to go home.  It not even working just sealed their fate; there was no question.

That said, all of the builds were very good this week.  I was impressed with all of them, even the ones that didn't work and the one that wasn't a volcano.  It was still a decent build... just not fulfilling the assignment.

  13. The entrepreneurs annoy me the most.  Their whole business approach isn't funny or entertaining, and they called the kitten a prototype.  They beta tested a kitten?  No.

Did the show check to make sure all of the contestants had no allergies?  The kittens were adorable, but I would have been miserable.

I've been underwhelmed by the actual Lego building so far.  The themes have been fine, I guess, but nothing has truly impressed me like in some previous years.

But his friend is the one who said that building MOCs is not their strength, so it seems like neither of them might have it?  Will be interesting to see how long they last.  I would assume that if the collector guy has built 7,000 sets, he's probably familiar with the mechanics of Lego and what works and what wouldn't.  I can imagine that if he's asked to build a mountain castle, he might be able to say something like "oh, this is just like the one in set 76432, the Lord of the Rings Dwarven Kingdom, I can replicate that!".  Or use the skills that were applied in one of his many sets, like a bridge building task.

I think if they really aren't comfortable with MOC then they could struggle coming up with original ideas.

Also, if they truly aren't comfortable with MOC, I would hope that they wouldn't be on the show - even with money and influence.  I bet that they are downplaying their abilities to only seem like underdogs.

Whichever team it was that mentioned MOCs, then said specifically that that's not their strength... ummm why are you here then because literally creating MOCs is the entire activity of the show???? I didn't catch which creation was that team's, so can't speak to if they were being modest or not.

Money.  I've seen a video of that guy on social media - he has, or at least his goal is to have, one of every Lego set ever made.  He has a huge basement full of thousands of Lego sets.  He's a collector, and probably influenced his way onto the show.  Maybe his friend has MOC talent...

And, and, and……. Mel's sister got divorced, Mel got engaged, Lilly had postpartum depression, Mel & Jack broke up and got back together....

Don't forget that Hope had a heart attack in the first season, too.  So a heart attack and a traumatic brain injury all in 5 months... and she's perfectly fine now!  If only that happened in real life!!

  17. So my guess is that the showrunners have heard a lot of complaints from the book enthusiasts, and they are trying to "fix" some things.

    In the books:

    Spoiler

Jack and Mel have at least 2 kids of their own naturally, and then become background characters.  They only live in Hope's cabin for a short time; Jack buys land from a farmer and builds them a big house with a great view on the side of a mountain.  So is buying the farm the show's way of fixing this?

Brie and Mike get together and are the ones to live happily ever after from the start.  There isn't even a character named Brady.

Lizzie is younger (16, I think?) and she gets pregnant right away, but with Ricky's baby.

Paige and Preacher have their happily every after with Christopher, who is 3 years old, not 10, when they meet.  I assume that the actress playing Paige couldn't stay?

Hope is such a minor character that she barely says a word.

I quit reading after about 4 or 5 books I think, because each book focuses on a new character and love story, and they are all just lather, rinse, repeat. Jack's buddies from the marines are all these perfect men who can't find love until they come to Virgin River...  ::eyeroll::

The show is so extremely different from the books that they shouldn't even share a title.  But I get the impression that there have been complaints, and on more than just the horrid pacing of the show. ::shrug::

Also, I still cannot get behind this relationship it's been what maybe a year since they met? Which isn't in itself problematic but add in all Mel's unresolved baggage and Jack's and I can't believe Mel's sister didn't once raise some concerns.

    ...

Yep, the show is still annoying, but the scenery is nice and honestly Netflix doesn't have much to watch so yeah, I'll be watching and snarking.

I don't know if it was in this episode or later, but they say it's been 5 months.  Hope complains that Mel still owes her 7 months under her year-long contract.

The timing on this show is the ABSOLUTE WORST!!!  It's my #1 with a * complaint!!

Love the scenery!  I'll be right there with you.

Ok so here is my question- who is chloes father? I assumed it was buck, but googles a few times and it said jack? Is that possible??

Chloe's father is Lilly's husband.  I can't recall his name, but Buck sounds right.  It is not Jack.  Buck died recently before Chloe was born, which is one of the reasons why Lilly was so depressed and gave Chloe up.

I realize Graham McTavish has enough other irons in the fire he probably wasn't interested in resuming playing Buck, but the Buck reveal at the end of the episode kind of falls flat when he's played by an actor no one has seen before and thus has no idea who he's supposed to be.

Thank you!  Everyone in the non-book readers thread is extremely confused, myself included.  It meant nothing to us.

  21. So Ian just has a kid that he never knew about?

And Bree goes through a time portal thingy but doesn't time travel?  Or that wasn't a time portal thingy?

I feel really stupid, like this episode was really confusing to follow, but I think it wasn't just me, so...  Maybe there will be more explanation later, at least about the time portal thingy.

Bree and Roger are in 1980  not 1960.  No one treated me in 1980 the way Bree’s potential employer did.  Seriously - asking someone who doesn’t even work for you yet to get you coffee?   Women routinely worked in 1980.   I became a computer  programmer in 1981 and no one thought it odd

In my field, we've actually done some research and taken surveys on this.  It's still happening to this day, and more prevalent than most people realize or care to admit.  Women are still being mistaken for the secretary or paralegal all the time... but no, we're the lawyers now.

  23. I quit reading the books halfway through Book 5, but I still visit both threads because I don't care about being spoiled.  The tone of the two threads is starting to be vastly different when it comes to viewers' satisfaction.  Personally, the show has lost me.  It jumped the shark somewhere around season 3/4.

Why does everyone have to be in love with Claire?  That whole storyline was ridiculous.  I figured from the start that the obituary was fake, though I thought it would have been Fergus who got wrong information and published it to honor his adoptive parents.

Speaking of Fergus, why have he and his family vanished?  He was one of my favorite characters from the time they introduced him as a boy.  I feel like both the author and the writers of the show must just get to a point where they can't figure out where to go with a character anymore, so they just write them out and forget about them - and hope the audience will too.

Is it sad that I've come to be more interested in the story of Bree and Roger in the 1980s than I am with Jamie and Claire?
