I really think the Doug thing has run it’s course. I really hope they don’t continue with that. Its like the only inside joke in Supernatural that i thought was stupid. I find pretty much verything else hysterical. Even Lucifer cracks me up. I think they need to make Donna less cartoonish and this episode was the beginning of that (i hope). They toned down her accent and she used so much less of the gee wiz, holy moly expressions. She seemed more believable as a hunter. Making her like this romantically needy , only able to attract a certain type of male, women will be at odds with her new role as surrogate mom to the WS girls. They really don’t need to make both Jody and Donna so dorky with men, imo.

You Know You Watch Too Much Supernatural When....

Someone asks you what your favorite song is. You want to say your real answer “The Weight” by The Band but you end up saying “it’s a tie between Zeps Ramble on and Traveling riverside blues.” -
Man, I just love when you look at the rating sheet and your aged out of every category except Adults 50+ ( they should just call it theGeezer category). I'm only 55, but i guess i'm irrelevant to tv. I thought 50 plus year old men (or women) are able to buy stuff so their attractive to advertisers. I feel like their telling me to sign up for AARP and join Donatello in Boca. Not happening. Anyway, 1.9 mil seems like a good showing but its really the first ep back for the boys full time.

I think they have to do a foreign exchange, cash for Dwarven gold, so they can buy evil stuff at the next god of greed (Plutus) auction. Nothing like three quarters of a virgin dripping out of a paper bag for those guys.

I wasn't totally psyched about the episode but I did like that Donna toned down her accent and acted appropriately and cool. Personally, I think she could do better than new Doug although he seems like a good guy. Maybe if he shaved that moustache. I thought Sam's depression was either over his mom or losing Kaia. Otherwise, it didn't make sense. And we've heard that same speech from him a few too many times. I usually completely relate to Dean but I related to the way Sam dealt with his depression, by sleeping too much and laying in bed. If that were Dean being depressed, He would've drank way too much whiskey. The biggest thing that I heard was the bad guy saying that there were many more monsters than we thought, that we had to had a zero or two. That's a lot of monsters. I don't know if that was hyperbole or if the show was trying to tell us something? Also, there was kind of a weird, non human looking monster that i've never seen before. They do seem to be slightly tweaking old scripts as this reminded a little of the Doc Benton thing (although that episode was way cooler). Is that a siren in the next episode? I hate sirens. Sirens and ghouls are the only monsters that scare me and gross me out.

Does anyone but me find Donna's accent as annoying as me? I think the actress Brianna is a great actress and really attractive but the hokey (northern minnesota or canadian?) accent feels over the top for me. Is that a normal accent for that area of the country? Bob freaking Dylan was from Hibbing Minnesota and he didn't talk like that. That's my only reference for that area of the country. It feels to me like the Wayward show is toning down the sex appeal of the two older leads, Jody and Donna to accentuate the younger girls or make Jody and Donna Mom figures. The police uniforms aren't flattering for them and Jody could probably dye the grey out of her hair and wear better makeup, imo. Not trying to be overly critical but the show can throw us older guys a bone and make the two older leads a little more attractive. They are both beautiful women and i really hope this is not offensive to anyone. It isn't meant to be.

When he’s in the hospital and Cass. Is telling him how they laid waste to hell to get to him, Dean says ,”why didnt you just leave me there.” It’s just the best acting, imo. Then when Dean finds out that the angels want him to stop the apocalypse, he says, “Lucifer, The apocalypse. It’s too big. Find someone else. I guess I’m not the man either of our dads want me to be. “ (Paraphrasing). Heartbreaking. Great Dean moment among so many.
-
Those are two of my favorite moments too. Another one I love is when Cass asks Dean to Swear allegiance to the angels. Dean turns around, gives him a wtf look. It'l like he's going against every instinct he's ever had to obey them but he does it anyway. Then, he sees Bobby who asks him if he "willingly signed up to be the angels bitch." God, so great from Ackles. Any scene where Dean prays is always great.

Your kids challenge you to play rock, paper, scissors to decide something and you always choose scissors. Then your mystified as to how you always lose. -
The big difference between what John did to Sam and what James did to Patience is that Sam was going to college, had been hunting since he was nine and could take care of himself. Patience is a High School girl (what year is confusing), has never been away from home before (as far as I know). If I was James, i'd be texting my daughter frantically every 5 minutes to see if she was okay and would drive to see where she was. You just don't give your high school age daughter that kind of ultimatum. Especially, if she's your only family like she appears to be for James. I know Supernatural treats fathers poorly (except Bobby) but that was pretty uncool just for the symmetry.

I think you must be right about Dean being in a different dimension and not having to do human things. A whole year of eating headless monsters (and they don't taste very good, precious), pooping without toilet paper, not taking a shower or being able to properly clean yourself and you'd get pretty sick and really skinny Maybe since Dean was human and didn't belong there, his body was in some kind of stasis. Ackles doesn't grow a full beard like Misha does, anyway. Dude doesn't seem like he has to shave that much anyway. Purgatory always confused me too. But Dean really enjoyed his cheeseburger when he got back.

You start most sentences when your talking to your friends with, “Look, Man,” in honor of Dean. -
Good list Wayward. It’s so hard to do. It’s like trying to pick out Led Zeppelin or Dylan’s top 10 songs. It’s almost impossible. I’d probably add Lazarus Rising and take out Swan song. I’m not a Swan song hater, just love Lazarus more. And I’d try and add Point of no return (sorry Catrox, i know you hate it but you gotta love the scene where Dean stabs Zachariah at least?) but i wouldn’t know which ones to take out. I don’t watch a lot of other tv shows. Which shows do you guys watch that are better written than Supernatural. The only other shows that i thought compete with Supernatural for writing are Deadwood, GOT and Stargate sg1. But. Like i said, i don’t watch a lot of tv shows

I don’t know man. I really liked Patience and thought she was the most attractive of the 4 girls (they’re all attractive). She was like a Deer on the headlights, which is pretty normal for an 18 year old girl facing monsters. Claire was over the top and she better get a bigger knife. A 2 inch knife isn’t going to cut it. I thought the issue with the dad was more racist. The guy kicks his mother out of his life when she makes a mistake. Then, he’s like this super single dad but tells his daughter not to come back. I know they were going for symmetry with John Winchester or even Dean when he tells Sammy after they fight in season 4 if he leaves, not to come back, but they made the dad look like a total dick.

I was just listening to that Jason Mann’s album the cast is in recovering with Friends. It’s actually really good. They do 2 really hard Dylan songs I shall be released and knocking on heavens door. Rob Benedict sings Released and Kim Rhodes Knocking. They’re pretty good, i mean they’re not The Band but pretty good. Speaking of The Band, they do Up on cripple creek. Pretty good job also. Ackles is great on The James gang Funk 49 and i think he does Steve Miller’s The Joker. All in all, it’s a really good cover album of classic rock/Dylan if your into that sort of thing.
-
That was some terrible writing about patience’s father. No father, especially a single dad (speaking with experience), would tell his daughter not to come home no matter what they wanted to do. Of course her father would take her back. I’m sure they’ll explore that in the wayward show and have the father back on. I felt bad for Patience. Not all the girls have to be instant badasses. I like her character and the not evil Kaia (if she’s not dead).

Hey, i hope your right and it continues but i don’t think so. What’s the point of supporting a one season show if that’s the case? Just to say Supernatural is now a girl power show. I think it’s strictly pandering to the most vocal segment of their audience, very young girls. What has always surprised me about Supernatural is that no one ever talks about how the television show practically glorifies alcoholism. Bobby was an alcoholic, maybe Rufus, Ellen, Crowley and Dean. I think it’s because the guys are so good looking, so it’s oveerlooked. But it seems like a bigger negative than some made up misogyny.
-
Except they’re not continuing Supernatural. The show has a max of one, maybe two years and it’s done.
-
It’s pretty clear Wayward will be picked up no matter what i think. The way i see it is that Supernatural was/is a special show and Wayward is just a totally different show with a few familiar faces. I feel like Supernatural just gave the finger to its older, male audience, like me. No classic rock, no men in the cast at all, a really juvenile script. If Supernatural was misogynistic to its female characters , why go 100 percent in the opposite direction? You’ll just alienate the other segment of your fans and end up with the opposite problem. I still would’ve watched the show if they had good music, but a big no to generic rock. If you need to have female rock, why not use Chrissy’s Hynde or if it has to be modern, Soraia. Either way, they have to tweak the show if it’s goung to be successful imo.
-
Does anyone know if Wayward is going to be dealing with those blue bleeding Orc like monsters and other new monsters from The Bad Place solely or are they going to also hunt the normal supernatural monsters like Angels, Demons, vamps, werewolves etc also.? It seems like the "Big Bad" of that show is that giant Orc like monster and they will have to go kill it (or it could be evil Kaia who can apparently kick both Sam and Deans ass, lol?). You can't really have a conversation with that creature. Like Metatron says, , every Hero is defined by his or her villain and if they don't have cool villains who provide some comic relief, it will be a problem for me. I mean, if it's just a girl power badass monster killing tv show without all the other things that make supernatural so great, I can't see it lasting long. But there are thousands of young girls on twitter who think its the greatest thing ever. I don't watch any of the other cw shows, strictly Supernatural for me since the pilot in 2005 Also, the boys and Misha were heavily promoting the show so i believe next year might be the end. .
-
Supernatural was made by its villains. You can’t like Supernatural without liking the villains and most of them are hysterical. Yed, Meg, Gordon, Lilith, Alastair, Ruby, My favorite, Zachariah, Crowley, Dick Roman, Lucifer, Abadddon., Trickster, it goes on. I can see Wayward being a Lord of the rings show but then you need a Sauron type evil, not just a monster who stands up and asks to be shot. I mean Claire killed one of those monsters with literally a 3 inch knife, maybe. Not exactly the demon killing knife of the Kurds or an angel blade. I was expecting more.
-
Hey i really agree with you about everything but I’m not sure why you liked it. The thing that makes supernatural work for me is the incorporation od humor into the story. You need great villains for that. I’m not sure there’s anything remotely funny about gross monsters that don’t speak. Not exactly a Crowley if you know what i mean. Plus they basically just stand up and ask to be shot. Serious monster problem.
-
Dean really Had the same problem when he was in purgatory. There didn’t seem to be a great food selection there and he was there for a whole year. Low carb, maybe eat a dead leviathan. He would’ve gotten pretty skinny. Also, it always bothered me how they would go to the bathroom or cleaned themselves up. The boys looked pretty good for not showering for a few days. And why would they leave the fire going.
-
It’s just a really bad idea to have monsters that don’t talk. The orcs just kind of stand up and wait to be shot. I went on the wayward web site and all the young women thought Kaia was dead and out of the show. I was like, Do you people actually watch Supernatural? The girl is one of the stars of the show, they can’t just kill her off in episode one. They have a lot of tweaking to do if that shows going to work. I’m all for girl power but please don’t dumb down the show. I’ve been watching too long.
-
Jeez, that was so bad. The monsters were even bad. Orcs with red eyes??. Really and a giant Orc At least they’re easy to kill. Just a gun shot. The girls were good and their interaction was cool but the episode was really juvenile. They really could’ve done s better job. Just disappointed with Supernatural.
