Not an episode comment, but I just watched Claudia Christian on NCIS.
-
Probably not a lot of difference, but he may always refer to it that way so as to avoid confusion in the kitchen. In which case, if he is in the habit of calling it that, he would automatically do it when he is under pressure in the competition.

I think Marcel might have driven me to do something to him (okay, I probably would just have shorted sheeted his bed, but that's because I am not a violent person). Tom and I have a similar hate for Okra, so that would be interesting to have tried a dish that even Tom liked. I'm rooting for Brooke. And Jim. "I am having Paula Deen flashbacks with the exaggerated "y'alls" and all the talk about cooking with love. " I didn't notice any exaggerated y'all's. Of course, I live in the South.

Loved Boxleitner, hated O'Hare. I don't know if I could have stayed with the show if he had remained. I don't get gravitas from O'Hare. I get wooden. As to the rest of the cast, the chemistry they created was among the best in television. I need to do a rewatch. Season's 2-5 ;-) Although I do love the Season 1 episode (Believers) that focused strongly on Franklin.

He is the guy who wore his glasses on his head. My friend thought it was pretentious. Speaking of which ... shouldn't an elimination final involving an oyster roast have ... say ... roasted oysters? Tesar's oysters never came near the fire. Did they forget it was an oyster roast challenge? I was rooting for John Tesar to get the boot.

I like them, too. Having them in makes the show more layered - and not having all the drama that most of the writers seem to think important is a plus. It's a refreshing change from all the dysfunctional ones that litter the television landscape.

She may have already been contracted for those episodes.

I believe he was talking about Vivica A. Fox. There was some chatter about it around the time of her guest appearance in Season three (Episode was After Six).
-
I never saw the animosity that other kept saying was happening. Some the most perforative were clearly edits. "Shut up, Isaac", was clearly a good natured tease, and Isaac did not seem to dislike her.
-
Okay, thanks. I missed what he did with the grapes. Then I can totally live with Jeremy being in the final.
-
Ha - I kept thinking why is Padma wearing her negligee . Do any of the judges eat at normal places? Grapes with chicken was a revelation? Hello - people have been putting them in chicken salad for years. I'm sad that Marjorie is not in the final. They were really whipping up the poor Isaac fan base - it was clear with one cut when Marjorie said something about each of them, but they cut the bit about Isaac out.

Top Chef Bio- "She has served in many top-rated restaurants and worked for an impressive list of chefs including Thomas Keller, Jose Andres and Marcus Samuelsson. She was a semifinalist for both James Beard Foundation awards for "Rising Star" nominee and Food & Wine awards for Best New Chef in 2013 and 2014. Marjorie is a member of Les Dames d'Escoffier and the Women Chefs & Restaurateurs organizations." Looks like she is more versatile than Isaac.

It was a dish that could so easily have failed. That being said, none of the concepts were original. As to the Pasta Mama's concept, we have Italio, which is based on the Chipotle model., where you have choices of noodles and sauces. I liked Marjorie's menu better than Italio's. The judges seemed favorable to Isaac's concept, too. I was a bit surprised when Carl won, as I didn't think they were that effusive over his dish. It was an overwhelming favorite with the diners, but perhaps influenced by a very healthy foods clientele?

Marjorie used her advantage wisely - you should try to take at one of the stronger competitors. Someone was going to get Phillip. I heard a lot of the other chefs say hoping she wouldn't pair them. Turns out Marjorie didn't need the advantage. Kwame sunk himself. The minute frozen waffles left his mouth, I said goodbye Kwame, good luck in LCK. I don't know why she is all fired up about Angelina, but apparently it worked for Marjorie. But okay for a man, I guess????

Marjorie looks larger than what is normally found at those stores. Plus, do they even have time to go shopping? I got the impression that there is very little down time for them. If the hotel isn't in a downtown area, then she'd also need transportation. Should she have planned for the possibility of doing FOH? Maybe, however the shirt was clean and the jeans were clean. Perhaps not dressy, but serviceable - especially for a pop up peopled by 'guests' who were there to be diners. If I had to choose the really bad service with Kwame and his suit, and the great service by the jeans and white shirt of Marjorie - I choose Marjorie.
-
It's easy for a guy to throw on a shirt and a jacket. My guess is Marjorie didn't bring anything for FOH - not all women are interested in clothes and fashion. She may not own anything more formal. I gather being a chef doesn't mean you make a ton of money, and buying larger size 'dressy' clothes is expensive. I don't know what size she wears, but I'm guessing you won't find it at Kohl's or TJ Maxx. I wouldn't call Karen's dress casual. I saw someone out for a Valentine's dinner wearing something very similar. If she was thin, I don't think anyone would have said anything about the dress. I went to a fancy and trendy restaurant where everyone was dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, including the host. I imagine California is even more casual.

I'm with you on this. Phillip and Kwame didn't look any better. As to Marjorie - she admitted she was wrong about Isaac. She trained the staff for both services, and I think her dessert suffered by adding the champagne - but the judges did tell them to bring their dishes up a notch. 'Champagne' is usually considered classy.

Fewer commercials? I think Jason is kinda dorky cute. I will give him a pass on his interjecting commenting regarding the gummy potatoes, since I smell the editing monkey's unscrupulous juxtapositioning of comments in that segment.

Ha ha - I guess I wasn't the only one. So was I the only one that thought

Your insight on Irina is spot on, Queasy-bo. Therein lies my frustration with the finale. They built up Irina as someone who really did love her husband and daughter, then changed gears. Plus I hated that they had to

I liked Will and Sydney as a couple. In fact, I preferred Will and Sydney as a couple. Also, I didn't have a problem with Melissa George's acting ability.

lol - I think there is a pretty good consensus that agrees with this ^ assessment. The sympathetic ones are the hardest. The old lady who locked the guy in her safe - I wanted her to get away with it.

Interesting take on the show. I suppose because I watched Alias before Nikita, I could never get into that show. Your comments about Irina are bang on. The writers killed Jack off because it made them cry. It made me cry, too, but they were tears of anger. It was unnecessary. There were rumors of a different type of ending, and it sounded a bit more promising. The story goes that Jack and Vaughn's life were held in balance, but in saving one the other would die. I could see Irina swooping to save Jack as he tries to sacrifice himself for his daughter's happiness. As to Bradley Cooper, I always thought he was terrific. He really shone in every scene. I'm glad to see that he is getting the accolades he deserves. It shocked me that the writers listened to a small group of fans (who surely had to be 10) he didn't him because he was putting Sydney in danger. The Sydney, Jack, Sloane dynamic was the core of the series. I loved the 'story' of Irina, and I think they could have appeased a part of the fan base by getting them together. They could have passed the evil torch to Sark. In the booklet that came with my complete set of DVD's, Goddard says Irina loved Jack, "Absolutely. 100%." Had they gone that route, I wouldn't still have that bitter taste in my mouth when I think of the finale. Sixty Minutes did a feature on him tonight. I hope he wins the Tony.

For me it was the commercial advertising the pilot. She's in the garage, fighting the bad guys. A car pulls up, she aims her gun - then says 'Daddy?".

As a chef, Stephanie would be used to working in kitchens that would have shellfish, as would any chef with an allergy. I imagine proper medical staff is at hand for emergencies.
