  1. 'The mine and you broke it' angle would align well with psycopathy. Ward has an edge of narcissim and he seems to think of himself as a victim of circumstance (my family did me wrong, Skye shot me, and so on), and Kara's death will be something else he lays at Shield's feet.
  2. I thought the implication was that he cut the power and broke in the back way. Liv and the police lieutenant didn't bleed much either when they were shot.
  3. I think Coulson said he had the highest marks since Romanoff. I'm not sure that puts him in her league, though. Someone may have already confirmed, but yes, Hal sings "Daisy, Daisy" in 2001: A Space Odyseey. Despite the sentient computer part, Hal and Cal have plenty in common. I am onboard with the idea that the something in the cage was waiting for a chance to snatch someone and picked Simmons. Maybe it's a portal.
  4. I kept thinking with Oscar just lying there that Sherlock had killed him. He just kept kicking him. Oscar said himself that he was in poor physical condition.
  5. Drat, I did like Lowell. I give the show credit for giving him his grave digging monologue. It was sad and sincere, and it's good they acknowledged beyond Baline's descriptions what it would be like to have to fend for yourself as a zombie. I hope the mood doesn't get reset to neutral and upbeat immediately next episode, because this should take some getting over. Glad Ravi isn't a zombie. Major is a really terrible investigator. It's time he and Liv and Ravi sit down and have a talk. ETA: With Lowell putting his hand over his heart and Blaine's Cobain obsession, did anybody else think about Eddie Vedder appearing on SNL with a K over his heart?
  6. More like returning to its Nazi roots to regroup.
  7. They can probably grow Coulson a new hand if they have the tech to build . That's our Cal, B team material to the last. ETA: Maybe Simmons will be an anti-Inhuman.
  8. Noooo! Simmons! I didn’t expect Jaiying to be a … succubus? Cal sacrificed a village to bring her back to life. Yikes. And then crushed her. I’ll miss Cal. A magical place… He was my favorite part of the season, but this is a good spot if his arc ends here. Did May intend Ward to kill Agent 33? That was cold and calculated, but I wanted May to shoot him instead. Mack in down-to-business mode is a force to be reckoned with. I was waiting for the fire axe to see service, and he didn’t disappoint, but eegah, I did not see the final use coming! Good decision to put a practical person in charge of alien artifacts, and he got Lola back together. Hope Bobbie, Mack and Hunter stick around. Sorry to lose Raina. I wasn't always a fan of hers but she did make things interesting. No Koenigs? :-(
  9. I'm still thrown by the idea that Selina goes from pushing Reggie out the window to working for Fish. Kat from earlier this season was way too smart to get involved with someone as unstable as Fish. She certainly didn't fall for Barbara's theories. This is a girl who broke into an apartment to get Ivy somewhere dry to sleep. She's tough and harsh when necessary, but she was never interested in power and cruelty for their own sake.
  10. Saw this and thought I'd link it here.
  11. Watching Anne walk to the gallows, and seeing her blind folded and shaking in terror also made me forget how much I disliked the character. This was such a stark episode, and to have that five minutes from the end was crushing. And then the aftermath of the execution...Francis Bryan was a piece of work. I thought for a moment Gregory Cromwell was going to be sick. I agree with other posters, Cromwell's complicity in all this, even if it was to save himself, goes way beyond what can be justified. He should have retired to Italy, post haste.
  12. It doesn't. However, this was the Middle Ages, and might made right. Anne certainly had the better execution compared to Mary, Queen of Scots or the Duke of Monmouth. If the executioners in Henry's era were anything like Jack Ketch, then the sword was a mercy. Here is a link on the Tower Green executions.
  13. I think Steve recognizes them as individuals, and respects their differences and abilities. In the first Avengers he assigned everyone a role based on what they could do. He does focus on what the team can accomplish, but that's his role. Steve is also unique in that he would rather lose the right way than win the wrong way. That is why he's Captain America. It is his calling to lead by example and he is irritated when people try to take shortcuts because he knows what the end result may be. It is unfortunate that Falcon wasn't at the final battle, but I'm going with the idea that Rhodey was on hand because he's still active military, and Sam couldn't be called up in time. I get more nervous with every casting announcement. CA:TWS is the perfect example of why characters need side projects to grow and develop, rather than serving only as appendages to the main narrative. Both Cap movies have had the chance to explore the range of comic characters, first in a period war movie and then in a modern spy thriller. I hope that all these characters keep to the background, and let the core trio from CA:TWS continue their narrative. Steve, Natasha, and Sam made a great team. Maria Hill and Bucky can be in it too. So, so true. But I also support the no-cinematic-love-triangles motion.
  14. In the absence of the spinoff, has there been any confirmation that characters slated for the spinoff will stick around AoS?
  15. Maybe after killing Jackie Blaine scratched the aesthetician so he could keep his perks. Part of me thinks Blaine is going to sell Meat Cute, move to another city, and start another zombie franchise.
  16. I was so proud of Ravi for thinking of chain gloves, and then the links were loose enough to allow a rat bite. Drat. And I'm sorry the rat that tried to escape got eaten anyway. Ravi was drawing blood from the rat, so I don't think he's started on a vaccine/antidote yet. He made a comment about introns in DNA potentially activated, so hopefully there are not enough genes in common between humans and rats to let the zombieism to be transferred. I did love Liv's reaction to the zombrat. I hope they call it Dr. Oppenheimer now. I agree the mystery of the weak was basic, but I enjoyed the rest of the episode. I like Lowell but I could see it going either way. If he is knowingly buying murder victim brains off Blaine, he's on the wrong side. He referenced visions in this episode, and I'm pretty sure Blaine mentioned them in his first conversation with Liv. Major really is spiraling. I still think he's hampered by his ridiculous name, but I like that he wasn't persuaded that he was wrong about the brain. His decision making is getting worse and worse. I'm not surprised his job suffered because he is supposed to be setting a positive example for at risk kids, and breaking into a car and getting into fights are the opposite. I'm starting to think he's going to be Blaine's leverage instead of Liv's brother, or maybe along with. I did like the fight club joke. Ravi working the anagrams in the kid's magazine was fun. It was a bit sad that his moment was so one sided, but I did like that he called Liv out for her criticism. I hope he isn't a zombie by the time the date rolls around. ETA: Did not recognize Erica Cerra, but good to see her.
  17. Yes, it was an underwhelming play for common ground. I'm still happy Gonzles made an attempt to find common ground, though, especially with the gift. Not unless Gonzales has a basement lab and is experimenting on Inhuman children. Gonzales is scared of them and biased, but he can be persuaded not to act on his biases by attacking first. The call was made before the quinjets landed. Cal was already juiced up and ready to be handed off, smiling like the crazy person he is.
  18. This very much. Lanyards and badges in every color, and even triangular ID badges! Somebody's been having fun with their label maker. Two small moments I enjoyed: Fitz and Simmons joking with Skye about the hula dancer because it shakes Hunter drawing spines on Raina's file photo
  19. Nice, and yep. On the evening's Agents of Shield His actions ought to have some sort of repurcussion. Perhaps a shift in public opinion regarding him and his maverick ways. ETA: :-)
  20. Let's give Simmons another crack at Ward. I thought sombody'd start a war, but never figured on Jiaying. Cal is just so happy right now. Right before he goes off the deep end.
  21. I'm not sure I would trust Karen right now. She's the one who led Ben into danger. I could see her egging Matt on to something more reckless than usual. And they've only known her for what, three months? Nessun Dorma was a little over the top, and things did seem a little quick, but I liked the episode and where it leaves things.
  22. I thought Ben's arc worked well, and he was martyred for his cause. I will miss his steady, clever, dedicated viewpoint. Fisk sitting beside Wesley's body for a vigil and the kiss were very affecting. Fisk intermittently reminds me of Lenny in "Of Mice and Men," and I really shouldn't identify him with a character who is so much more innocent, but it keeps coming back to me.
  23. I was really hoping Wesley would be with the show for a while, and am shocked he was killed. It seems appropriate that it was his instinct to answer Fisk that beat self-preservation for a moment too long. I really liked the character, and his scenes with Fisk at the hospital were touching. Fisk even trusted Wesley with his mother. There were some great unspoken moments between the two of them. I love how grounded this show is compared to other Marvel efforts, but it is hard not to want the rules to be broken here. I waver between liking and disliking Karen. I didn't like her leading Ben on about a care facility, and not warning him what they were up to.
  24. Mrs. Cardenas told Karen that Foggy liked her and Karen hadn't realized it, and it seemed like she didn't want him to be interested. Foggy has an outsized personality but he isn't too obnoxious in his behavior to others, and I'm glad he hasn't been a stereotypical clown character. The flashbacks were sweet, and cheesy as it was I liked avocados at law. It was already emotional between Foggy and Matt, but when they started crying I about lost it. Sorry we didn't get to see Claire.
  25. I think the manner of Nobu's death was an accident, but only one - if either - was going to survive unless someone ran. This was the most brutal fight to date and was hard to watch in places. I'm often not a fan of split time episodes, but this diluted some of the brutality. Fisk's attack on an already wounded Matt was bad too. I was surprised that Fisk asked Wesley to kill Matt, and that he wasn't angry with Wesley when Matt jumped out the window. I also keep thinking about the DNA evidence Matt is leaving behind. I would think that his fingerprints might be on file as a legal professional.
