  1. I can't believe I've missed 2 weeks on my fave board because the new season just happened to sync w/ super crazy days at work. My main takeaways after a binge watch over the weekend were that I liked Alex's beard and Kyle seemed nice. Anyway, YAY Vincent is off my TV for good now. He earned way too much money w/ easy clues (the Falklands in 1982 as a DD?) and I don't think he needed to be brought back anyway since the other two contestants saw the same board he did and weren't confused but that dead horse has already been beaten. Wish I could have seen the look on his face when Nancy ruined his comeback. I had no clue on FJ myself but got three TS: Adam Lambert, Hell's Canyon and escalator.
  2. I was sad to see Diane Arbus as a TS. Hers was a compelling voice in the word of photography. I also got the ration and Shirley Chisholm TSs but drew a blank on FJ because it called for a specific battle. I like Rick and am happy to see him pull off another win. I'm not down for a rerun of The Buzzy Show so I won't be watching a repeat of TOC so I guess my Jeopardy withdrawal starts now...
  3. Right?? I wondered whether he explained that in his story (I always FF through them). Sounds like I was fortunate to miss Ian's. For TS I got New Zealand (lucky guess), Philip II (thanks to Jeopardy), and confidentiality. I had no clue on FJ but that's an interesting fact #myjeopardyeducation
  4. I'm usually easily annoyed so the only reason I can think I wasn't too bugged by Ron was he seemed genuinely happy to be there and I thought his FJ answer was funny (and also referenced my Imaginary Hollywood Boyfriend). He also balanced the hyper-intensity emanating from the other two. That was an impressive comeback for Burt who looked as though he was going to pass out the whole match. For TS I got an early one I can't remember, Arles, tightrope walker, and Freetown, and the missed DD "way", but totally blanked on FJ (other than figuring it was in Asia). I wanted to kick myself when it was revealed.
  5. For TS I got Total Recall, Bull Mastiff and coronet. It was ridiculous to me that Alex gave her a flat No for Mastiff but a BMS for Batting Helmet. If it weren't a runaway, I wonder whether she'd make a case to be invited back. I had no idea on FJ -- even after they revealed the answer because I didn't consider the front and back of the bottom to be 2 pieces. Sigh. I'm not a fan of runaways but at least Dave's not smug about it. And yeah I'd like to see him bet something for FJ too.
  6. Hey Ryan, NOW's the time to sing: Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbyeeeeee! Something tells me that Ryan spent most of his school years either getting beaten up or ignored, so I don't think his teammates would be too bothered. FJ was an instathought, but I wasn't sure since I didn't realize it was written in 1932. I liked both Emily (super cute style) and Dave the Ryan Slayer and would have been happy with either one as champ.
  7. No Ryan, even you don’t get 2 shots at a DD. His mild freak out over that, and looks of quiet indignation when he's called wrong, leads me to believe he threatened something if they didn't bring him back. For TS I got dilate, Can’t Buy Me Love, Rocco DiSpirito, John Landis, and Anthony Kiedis, and the Cliff Notes DD. I was rooting for Kyle to win. I think I can take maybe one more game with Ryan before I have to excuse myself from watching.
  8. That. Little. Twerp. Now I remember that smug expression, and he is in fact the puppy killer. Please God let him be a one and done. I won't even try to understand Michelle's wager. I was beginning to like her but then she left us with... him. I was expecting someone named Bunny Miller to be a lot more fun! No TS for me but FJ was an instaget.
  9. That bugged me too. Ziggy, Stephen, and Damian all have successful music careers and those 3 are only the ones I'm personally aware of. I'm glad the dude handled it well. Shut up, Alex. I unfortunately went with Magellan. For TS I got boot camp, Richard the Lionheart, and Booker T Washington and the missed easy-peasy Nutcracker (and I only say that because I never get the ballet clues but I got that one). I don't remember Ryan. Praying he wasn't annoying... Wait, he's not the puppy abandoner, is he??
  10. Maybe because he was so gassed up from getting that DD that he was already envisioning his victory lap around the studio? I'm not a fan of Michelle's but I appreciate her getting Vincent off my TV. Right?? That's exactly how I got it. As it was for others above, FJ was an instaget for me. Also got the pagoda associates and Intl Space Station TS.
  11. I totally misinterpreted "mill" and answered "paper". Yes, I do feel dumb. For missed DD and TS I got drive drunk, Norman Bates, Trojan War, and Tenderness (wow a General Public clue on Jeopardy?!). I pre-guessed The Exorcist but once they showed the clue it was an instaget. I also pre-guessed "Sid" for "Killed Nancy" until Alex got to "Oliver Twist". I thought the Slayer category was clever. When it was first revealed I wondered how jeopardy! would pull off an entire category about the band. My mind was really racing tonight...
  12. Oh I totally agree the inconsistency is maddening. I was just saying I agreed with the specificity of that one.
  13. I agree, and to give Stel I think $6K for that was absurd. It could have determined the game but thankfully didn't. For TS I got 3 little kittens, Pope Benedict, and Denzel Washington Monument. FJ was an instaget. I think the judges were right insisting on cornrows because cornrows are one of many types of braids, and they were referring to a specific military regulation that doesn't apply to other types of braids. I was happy to see a Zadie Smith clue; I loved both White Teeth and NW. Only one poster called Becky arrogant but regardless, mileage varies.
  14. My eyes rolled all the way to the back of my head. I FF through the stories but it didn't seem as though he told a goofy one, and he played well so shame on me! I'm sorry Lauren lost but I liked all 3 players. I got the World of Dance and ketchup TS and, thanks to a wild guess, the missed DD Delaware. I had no clue on FJ but thought maybe Teddy Roosevelt since he's a frequent Jeopardy clue.
  15. Lauren was awesome and I think Alex is smitten, esp. after she aced the French category. Beth was impressive as well. I figured Marilyn would be a one and done but she didn’t show up today at all. For TS I got Baltimore, Joe Louis, the Gang of Four, and Ithaca. I had no clue for FJ; it would have taken me 100 years to get QVC.
  16. I don't think that's why he said it that way though. He only went on when Alex prompted him to. ETA, Re: the comments about breasts: I've been on this board for a while and TWoP for a long time before that and neither has ever been a place that encourages or tolerates misogyny or sexual violence. This is, however, a space for snark and those who get all in their feelings because contestants are occasionally made fun of won't be happy here. There's been some wickedly smart and funny snark here and I for one hope that continues.
  17. I couldn't believe he was a TS. I watch a lot of MSNBC as well but I think these days, Flynn is just one of those folks Americans need to be aware of. The other TS I got were Breakin' and dry cleaner. No clue on FJ; I wild guessed Alcott. Forgot all about Uncle Tom's Cabin. We were shouting in stereo. That really bugged me! I didn't notice Suzanne's boobs before reading about them here. Maybe I just know a lot of big breasted women so I didn't notice?? LOL Anyway, I'm sorry to see her go. I suspect the new champ will be a one and done.
  18. I'm glad I wasn't the only one psyched he did that. Shut up, Alex. For TS I got aloof and jetty. For TS I started with Poland, switched to Austria then back to Poland. Damn. I think "Cox" and "Williams" should have both gotten a BMS. Similarly, on Monday Adam got two lucky breaks w/ "batboy" (should've just been "bat" and "Queens College" only until Alex prompted him to add "Kings"; luckily it didn't affect the outcome. I'm glad Suzanne won.
  19. I have been consumed with the World Cup so I spent this evening binging on a week of games and about 10 pages of this board :-) So getting back into the swing of things... for TS I got chili/chile (I thought that Kitchen Confusion category was a lot of fun), hypertension, and Russia. I had no clue on FJ and wild guessed Richard III. A picture clue of Elvis is just too ridiculous for words. I'm glad Kate didn't win.
  20. I'm in the corner right there with you guys. I wouldn't have ever called that thing in the Magic Eight Ball a "die" because I thought it was triangular, rather than cube-shaped. I had yelled Alabama and then had to rewind a couple of times because I forgot the category. For TS I got Hoboken (used to live there and heard all the Sinatra lore), It Was A Very Good Year, and Yale, and the missed DD: Dakota. I thought FJ was an instaget until... My reasoning exactly. Yeah i have to think that had more to do with being from Bahrain than Canada...
  21. I like the new champ. Buh-bye, Di. For TS I got Edward Albee; he's been a clue several times. I guessed Madagascar for FJ, figuring it was wrong but having no alternatives.
  22. I agree. It goes against my notion of good sportsmanship and is dismissive of the two contestants. They deserve Alex's unbiased support for all contestants through the bitter end.
  23. I can’t stand smarty pants Diana either. I really hope Diana continues to win, wink-wink. Damn that John Travolta -- I couldn't remember the woman's name in time because of his foolishness! For TS I got armed and Springsteen, and like others above thought FJ was Libra. I remember Totie Fields being on the Merv Griffin Show (or maybe Mike Douglas?) when I was a kid. When I learned her leg was amputated I was freaked out. It seemed so strange that such a happy lady would have no leg.
  24. Aw, I was rooting for Nick to win. That missed Bach DD had to hurt but he didn't seem to have ever heard "Borscht Belt". For TS I got Deepak Chopra, Mitchell (sans "David" because I couldn't remember), and Sebastian Cabot. and the missed DD Borscht Belt. FJ was an instaget, even though I've never seen The Lion King. I just remembered there was a core father/son theme.
