  1. Are you my long lost cousin?? Our dads must be brothers. I went to college wanting to major in French and work as an interpreter at the UN but by the end of the first semester my dad convinced me I would be destitute on the streets of NYC unless I majored in Economics. I hated every.single.class. and took the minimum requirements for the degree so I could also study French, anthropology, drawing and astronomy. I'll be tuning back in on Monday; sounds like Rebecca is worth watching. I'm very thankful I missed a contestant who boasted having 40K pictures of herself.
  2. @Clanstarling and @Mondrianyone, hear hear!!
  3. I stopped watching for the same reason and have been relying on you guys for any highlights and snark! The college students I engage with act like they already know 99% of all there is to know in the universe, so I may tune in for the final just to see the heads of the two runners up explode.
  4. I scrambled to this board to see if Andrews' behind-the-back-hands thing was wack. His jacket was altogether too ill-fitting for him to be such a pompous tool. And Lindbergh?? LINDBERGH??????????? God I was so happy he lost. I was rooting for Dominic. He seemed sweet. It just wasn't his day but he was a good sport and he beat Andrews. I got one TS - Valentino - and two missed DDs, Stoics and Sudan Plan. Poor Dominic looked so nervous on that last one I thought he might cry. FJ was Jeopardy! round-level easy. <--- The Fugitive one, that is. I had no clue for Lake Nicaragua
  5. NYC's broadcast was preempted by ABC's special coverage of the bell ringing to commemorate MLK's assassination. It was really jarring to go from such a somber occasion to the middle of a category. It took me a couple minutes to get into the game. But yay for Jack. I only got 2 TS: Conrad and Lust for Life. FJ was an instaget because French + Polish + Composer = Chopin, but I didn't know his father taught French so that part was interesting.
  6. He worked my nerves by proclaiming "Magazines are going out of style". Digital magazine content remains popular; it's the print format that's in decline, Smarty Pants. I only got one TS today - CD-ROM. FJ was an instaget. I wonder why they felt the need to add the hint about alliteration for a FJ clue?? I liked all 3 contestants. I was rooting for Ashley but the champ whose name I can't remember made a great comeback.
  7. Nope right there with you. She grates my nerves. For TS I got chicano, mortgage, Continental army, The Lone Ranger, and lynching. FJ was an instaget. It would have been nice if the category were something like "Government Agencies" or "Scientific Pioneers". Her achievements transcend racial boundaries -- she's freakin' brilliant.
  8. I immediately thought of Motown when Alex made that dumb comment. On top of that the emphasis on "work" in the clue immediately triggered "Working my way back to you" which unfortunately has nothing to do with work and isn't from the 60s anyway. So I just totally blew it. For today's TS I got PASCAL, Javitz, mother, and Last Temptation of Christ. FJ was an instaget, even though I didn't know The Bodyguard is on Bway. It was so weird to see my local news presented as "local news" on a national stage; they always feel like big celebs to me. I hope Sullen Suzy is a one-and-done.
  9. That's so funny because my mom was also born & raised in Arkansas and she's the only one in my immediate family who says "dressing" (I grew up in Rhode Island). Maybe they're from different regions of AR; the culture there does seem to vary from east to west in particular. For TS I got 409, bellicose and potbelly. FJ was a lucky guess; for me Captain Kidd = pirate = Treasure Island. I've never actually read the book. I'm not a fan of Tristan's and hope he's a one and done.
  10. Bravo Lynne, for perfect FJ betting strategy! I'm kind of glad to see Rebecca go. She seemed kind of snotty. I can't even with giggles in the middle, blowing both DDs. I only got 2 TS -- high C and Bernadette -- and blew FJ because I knew it wasn't Italy but couldn't think of anything else.
  11. THIS. Maybe I didn't notice it yesterday but the faces and movements were downright distracting to me today. Ugh. I got the NY Post and Ishiguro TS and the Saturn missed DD. FJ was super easy. Hopefully Rebecca won't be a one-and-done so bringing her back was worth it.
  12. I might have to pay to go to LA and be in the studio audience to witness this! LOL
  13. I was Team Lisa yesterday and though I'm not opposed to her, tonight I was Team John. What a great comeback in DJ, and he really know his presidents. The only TS I got was North Korea, and had not a single clue for FJ.
  14. Yay! Smug Rahul has to go through life as a one-and-done. And yay Lisa! Not only is she my namesake but I found her nervousness at the end endearing. Hopefully she'll relax a little tomorrow. And yay for me, finally again able to watch episodes on the day they air! I had no idea about that 4th amendment t-shirt -- very creative! #myjeopardyeducation For TS I got goat and Pirelli. FJ was an instaget.
  15. Ah got it. My reasoning was clouded by board jumping inspired hate.
  16. I was rooting for Dan too and am not a fan of new champ Rahul. I don't get his $1 bet. Was he trying to be funny? What would have been really funny is if Dan had gotten FJ right and beaten Rahul by that dollar. Hope he's a one and done. For TS I got pineapple and was bummed Octavia Butler was a TS; Kindred is an amazing book. I had no clue for FJ.
  17. Ha, I saw that and thought about this board too! For today's FJ I thought Apple had to be too easy but glad I stuck with that answer. In contrast, I had no clue on Jurassic Park because I've never seen the movies (and have no desire to). Indeed!
  18. Very similar story for me except it was ESPN and some time ago. I was so pleased with myself for making the connection I ignored the pity (and then shade) in my boyfriend's reaction!
  19. BUH BYE JACK! [yes I'm shouting] I really liked that FJ clue even though I missed Jordan. Total facepalm since I scanned the globe in my mind and hit Jerusalem (obv not a country) but still didn't get Jordan immediately afterward. For TS I got Prevention and grapefruit league. There were a bunch in the Double Jeopardy round but I forgot the category and just couldn't follow. Anyone else taking the Jeopardy online quiz tonight? I always crash and burn but it’s fun to try.
  20. FJ was an instaget but then I spent the rest of the music debating whether Orwell was British or American and how badly I should feel about not knowing... Anyway with Welles yesterday I'm on an FJ instaget roll of 2 whole days! Northeastern is the only TS I recall. Please let Jack be a one and done.
  21. Ugh too many late work nights and missing Jeopardy! I had to binge watch Fri, Mon & Tues tonight but one plus is it got me through the Alan games rather quickly. The new champ seems nice. The only TS I got today were Alexandria and vis-a-vis. FJ was an instaget. I feel like FJ this season has been either super easy for me or impossible to get.
  22. The long weekend threw me off so I had to binge watch all 3 of this week's shows and I find myself triply(??) annoyed. First this. There must be something in the fine print that says "no matter how we rule, you will deal" because otherwise the affected players should be raising hell on social at very least. And THIS. Rude af. Especially since, with the amount he wagered, if Rob hadn't been correct, she would've won. I would pay money to see the look on Alex's face then. And Rob. Tired of him and his runaways and the way too easy DDs that get him there. I FF through the interviews so I only heard him singing "Ayyyyyy" and not the whole alphabet. I had no idea what he was doing but Alex's reaction confirmed it was something pretty corny. It's sad no one knew Medgar Evers with the mention of his wife's name AND a photo. FJ was an instaget. I met a group of Australians at Gallipoli and got an intense but very informative WW 1 tutorial I'll never forget. Fingers crossed tomorrow Alex will tone down the nasty and Rob will get the boot!
  23. Aw man, I liked Vijay and thought it was nice of him to give his co-worker a shout out for covering his shift. I most certainly was. It's top of mind since it was just featured in "The Big House" docuseries. #truecrimenerd @Miss Chevious beat me to the FFA controversy. I agree "occupation" is what sealed it. I had no clue on FJ. My very wild guess was Village of the Damned. Somehow my mind leapt from a reference I didn't get about abandoned baby carriages to that.
  24. I liked Rob and think he'll be fine without that fool Frank in the room. The biggest problem I have with the comparisons to Austin is that Austin actually got the answers right. As an unapologetic member of Team Austin so I'm going to draw a distinction between charming eccentricity and cloying parody. I realize I'm now dead to some of you. FJ was an instaget.
  25. Oy, enough with the time sucking celebrity segments! Not only because we basically lost an entire category, but those fools lost all the money they had gained after listening to those clues -- two of 'em at $0 and one at -$1000. GAH! I was so peeved about that and Frank's scenery chewing I don't remember if I got any TS or DD. FJ was an instaget. I usually skip the stories but I could hear in Alex's voice the eyes he could not roll. Based on what you guys are saying, I was lucky to hit mute before Marty's awful rendition. I can't stand Frank.
