  1. I like Marty but I'm really glad his runaway was derailed. I wouldn't have minded Dom winning but the woman on the end bugged. She had solid knowledge but I'm weary of this phenomenon of grown women who sound like 13 year olds. FJ was an instaget.
  2. I like Marty and I'm glad he won again. Not a fan of runaways though, so I hope he gets some competition on Monday. I had no clue on Fri's FJ and guessed Johns Hopkins the day before (I forgot about the CDC being in Atlanta - doh!)
  3. In yesterday's game instead of "bereavement" I said "death of a spouse" because I thought the statistics pointed to that moreso than the death of any loved one. Not a great game for me today because although I got the missed resolution DD I didn't get any TS and had no clue on FJ. Sean's OK with me so far. Maybe he over-enunciates to keep Alex from correcting him LOL
  4. Ouch indeed. I bet those twig arms were pretty sore during the first break. But he's gone now and didn't become a 5x winner so he'll never be back and I can enjoy my show again so that's all that matters! For TS I got Fujimori, Van Halen, Metallica, and Xavier. FJ was an instaget. I liked Caitlin but I just knew she was going to blow FJ because she had a few weird answers. I wouldn't call them guesses since she seemed pretty confident she was right. I'm surprised Jenny missed it though since she was strong throughout the game.
  5. How much longer must we suffer? That woman was too good to lose to the likes of The Fenster, and I liked Justin too. A picture of Ray Charles and the clue is about blindness. *sigh* For TS I got Lawrence of Arabia, tabbouleh, all the football clues except "option play" (never heard of that), Althea Gibson, Matthew Henson, and non-partisan, and the missed Ugly Betty DD while chanting "Missitmissitmissitmissit" to The Fenster. I guessed Langston Hughes as well. Forgot all about the Beats.
  6. Yesterday I considered that my dislike for Ryan might be Irrational Hate because I couldn't put my finger on what exactly bugged me about him. Well it was crystal clear tonight: for the luckiest guy on earth he's awfully smug. Congratulating himself for getting the easiest DD ever -- only after a long a** pause -- that saved him from a string of bad wild guesses... Annoying little twerp can't get off my TV fast enough. And on top of all that the leather jacket... I can't. As for the rest of the show, for TS I got Rubik, Shining Star (my favorite song of all time), and Little Foxes (because it's the only Lillian Hellman play I can name), and I got the missed Pirates of Penzance and Jay Pharoah DDs. I'll admit FJ wasn't exactly an instaget. I had to say "on the border of Oregon and Idaho..." out loud before it came to me!
  7. Dammit Brandy - you lose money when you guess incorrectly! And don't buzz in if you have no clue! I was rooting for her but no, Ryan lives to play another day. I'm not exactly sure why he bugs me so much so maybe he's one for the Irrational Hate List. I couldn't even understand the wording of FJ so not even a guess there.
  8. If I were Ryan I wouldn't be too thrilled with that win. He had virtually no competition and still spent a good amount of the Jeopardy round in the red. I hope he's a one and done. Same here. I figured I came up with it too quickly to be right but had no clue about when draft cards came out. High point of an otherwise tedious game -- Haruki Murakami made Jeopardy! I didn't even mind it was a TS.
  9. oh i got they were likes, just don't understand the new color scheme
  10. Yay Rachel's reign of cutesy terror has come to an end! I'm sure Alex's heart soared when she did her Gump accent but now his lady love is gone. The new champ's OK with me for now. I'll give her a pass on the into because she chilled out as the game went on and also got that calling out the full category name + please under control. For TS I got The Mary Tyler Moore Show, calico, and Cuba, and I got the usury DD (which seemed so easy I wondered if I was wrong). FJ was an instaget, not because I remember that long name but because Pippi Longstocking stands out as a real weirdo in children's lit for me. I remember seeing reruns of the Swedish TV show (dubbed in english) as a kid and being fascinated by how strange the show was, not only because Pippi was an odd character having odd adventures but because she was played by an actress who looked to me like a 35 year old in a child's body. That plus the fact the words weren't matching with the movement of her mouth was like the TV version of an acid trip to little me. p.s. on Chrome, I'm now seeing these weird green blocks next to the hearts. Hoping it's a bug that will disappear...
  11. I didn't notice Rachel's hair pulling because the giggling. #icant FJ was an instaget. For TS I got Lizzie Borden, Mohammed, and Australia. When Rachel answered "Oceania" all I could think was "...is at war with Eastasia." Wasn't the Fisher cat question asking for a verb anyway?
  12. Lots of TS tonight because I got a bunch and I Don't think it was even half of them: giraffe, l'chaim, en flagrante delicto, What's Love Got to Do with It, What's New Pussycat, and Itzak Perlman. And the fret missed DD. Yup. And I see what you did there LOL When that reversal happened my eyes rolled down the hallway and into the elevator before I could catch them. Were you gagging with me during the "Luigi?" "Yeah hee hee hee hee" exchange at FJ? I said I would reserve judgment on Rachel until Alex' crush became sickening. OK, it's sickening. Begone Rachel. I will say that it's impressive (and unnerving) how she seems to accumulate thousands in a matter of seconds. I missed the category for FJ so only seeing the clue my mind went to Sherlock Holmes but figured that was wrong and just gave up. I read a great book about Mycroft Holmes whose title i unfortunately can't recall at the moment...
  13. I got my office's version of the "super flu" on Fri so I got two eps of Jeopardy! today. I was sorry to see Lee go. That class he's teaching sounds amazing. Too bad he was unseated by Alex' new "young lady" crush. I'll hold on judging Rachel until I see how sickening the crush gets. I am however happy she held off Adrienne for the win. From their first responses I knew the combo of Adrianne and Gerard wouldn’t clear both boards. For today's TS I got Perfume (one of my fave books) and vichychoisse. Seriously! What was with that convoluted mess of a question? And why is it sometimes a full name is required and sometimes it's not? I'm thinking of Marilyn Horne. I'd prefer full names for all but they just aren't consistent.
  14. Aww, I was rooting for Marilyn. But with that snarky “Let’s end the misery for 2” – now Lee and I can totally be friends. I named every cracker I thought I’d ever seen but forgot about Triscuit.
  15. UGH I'm gonna miss Gilbert - calm, cool and collected man with the wry smile. Lee’s knowledge is certainly impressive but his kind of rapid-fire response gets boring for me after a while. It's like he's competing against himself on his phone or something. I'm willing to admit I'm just a hater to judge him so quickly. For TS I got Death in Venice (I feel like this is the 2nd or 3rd time in recent memory that it’s been a TS!), and Reaper just as an educated guess. FJ was an instaget. Yes I was thinking the same. It would be hard to give a sponsor a makegood for not exposing all of their clues, no matter how riveting the video! ;-)
  16. I'll join you if I can have the window seat. For TS I got eddy, Foo Fighters, and P!nk, and the Bourbon Street DD. Tyler was merely annoying to me in the first segment but when he said he was too young to know a song from the 80s, he was dead to me. I blew FJ because I knew which play it was, but not the name of the play. Now I'll never forget it #myjeopardyeducation. But yay Gilbert! It was slow on the uptake there also because those weren't actors from La La Land, were they (I haven't seen it)? Sometimes I'm too literal for my own good.
  17. The only reason I got the Howard Carter DD is because I've missed it on Jeopardy about a dozen times. It's now burned into my brain that Tut=Carter. I also got the Fulbright DD. For TS I got Volkswagen but mistook The Waitresses for The Motels. Both had a brunette leas and maybe their videos were similar to me back in the day. FJ was an instaget, though I did wonder about Algeria for a moment. Yay Gilbert! but I blame him for us not seeing that last clue (“I Used to Make That Car for X” when "Car for X" would have sufficed). I liked Alex too but the lady on the end was putting me to sleep.
  18. Jamie was extra but overall I thought they were a nice trio. They really enjoyed playing, and each other. FJ was an instaget. I thought it was so easy Nixon might be wrong and momentarily ventured into Missouri=Truman territory but ultimately stuck with Nixon. I felt badly for Dave for missing it. He had played so impressively throughout! Edited to add my keyhole and heresy TS and the in effigy and elephant DDs.
  19. Yay Brandon! I don't think I got any TS, but loved that they had an entire category for Tesla and I got the De Sade DD. No clue on FJ even though I LOVED Archie comics. That Claudia...oy.
  20. Yep, I recognize the trope, similar to "Florida Man" (which became a Twitter account as well). I think it would have been clear if they had only put the word "local" in quotes. Sean's pointing and sway and slow picking bugged, but Alex bugged me more with his fawning over Steph. Every so often he falls for a particular "young lady" and gets goofy. It was interesting how he didn’t call this game out as a runaway like he typically does. He probably would have if it were Steph rather than Sean. Renault was my first guess as well, then I went with Peugeot. ETA: and now that I hear he's had an accident, I feel badly about dragging Alex. Well, only a little bad. I do hope he gets better soon!
  21. That area code clue totally went over my head. The "telephone code" was easy, but even reading the clue now, I still don't get the part about The Onion.
  22. Yay, finally caught up on this week's games! Strange to see both Henry and Nick flame out so quickly. I liked them both. For today's TS I got Libya, 27, and Wonder Boys (loved that book), FJ was an instaget, and thank goodness Saralee is gone!
  23. Yay Henry! He worried me at first with his nerves but he seemed settled in for DJ. I never listen to the stories so can anyone tell me what Henry is studying? The only TS I got were corresponding and Pompidou. My guess was worse: Penguin Publishing, because I was thinking of "The Curious Incident..." and just made up the idea that Penguin published that book. I was 1000 miles left of wrong!
  24. Thanks for the heads up about other places to watch the Christmas Day game. I was in the middle of dinner and thought DVR would catch it but nope. I wasn't at all impressed with the current champ. She didn't seem confident in her answers. I thought Cary was talking unnecessarily loudly but he had good knowledge and I was cheering for him. New champ Amy can't get off my TV fast enough. So glad I'm not the only one annoyed by her. The only TS I remember getting is the more the merrier, and FJ was an instaget; I only said "the Yukon".
  25. I agree. The second part of the clue was something about putting/forcing/keeping something out, unrelated to respiration, so I think "expel" was the better answer.
