  1. ALL. OF. THIS. I would have appreciated Donna's gutsy wagers if she wasn't so damn extra. I guessed expel for the lungs clue. For TS I got Nantucket (funny someone didn't guess that after Martha's Vineyard had been eliminated) and "on fire". FJ was an instaget.
  2. Yay Johnny!! The woman in the middle had me worried for a minute but good thing she's not big on commercials. Speaking of which, FJ was an instaget. One of my favorite campaigns of all time.
  3. I only got the Shirley Jackson and hooey TS. I incorrectly guessed FJ would be a Scandinavian country and therefore incorrectly guessed Sweden. Unfortunately Justin blew his big lead with a couple of bad guesses. I was rooting for him not only because I liked him but because Kate and Remy had to read every word in the category name -- including when there was only one category left on the board -- and Remy adopted a strangely snooty pose and delivery in the DJ round.
  4. The judges were pretty slow to react on both of Lisa beth's corrections. I didn't know "Forever" was part of the song title but it was clear to me she left the "d" off of "Scrooged". I got the "Our Town" DD, and for TS, Nelson and Vonnegut. That's at least the 2nd time I've seen Vonnegut be a TS. He's one of my faves so that's a bummer. Same here. And now I know it has a volcano! #myJeopardyeducation
  5. Kate was such a pill throughout this game, IMO. Hope she's gone soon. Add me to the perennial vs. evergreen train. For TS I got poppies, Gunter Gräss(sp?), and camera obscura. FJ was an instaget; I didn't remember the window in the painting but somehow got there from Sears+farmhouse. THIS. The only thing I'll give Ben credit for was he matched Alex' "you're in a distant third" snark with "yeah I know" snark. I wish more contestants had the presence of mind to do that.
  6. Yay Denise! I love her because she's calm, cool, and collected but also capable of a genuine smile. I only got one TS - It's the real thing - and the missed DD, Arthur Miller (a wild guess because I'm not familiar with the play). FJ took me a couple of seconds because my mind jumped to Jumanji for some bizarre reason. My folks were similar, but even moreso about the Little Rascals. I wasn't allowed to watch it and when I was old enough to watch in my own home, as you say, it's stuck with me and that show makes me really uncomfortable. It's interesting how our parents can both teach and condition us to such a degree.
  7. LaKedra's time with us was much too short but I'm not sorry to see Bryce go. Congrats to the champ for that major comeback. The only TS I got was capricious. FJ was a close to instaget and redemption from yesterday, when I had no clue even though 100 Years of Solitude is one of my favorite books.
  8. I think the only person who could be happier than I that Ben is gone is Jeopardy's propmaster. Yay LaKedra! Charlie gave it a good try but she dominated throughout. I never watch the interviews but wanted to hear her story - and loved it. I lucky guessed FJ because yin & yang are the only pair of ancient symbols I could think of. I don't think I've ever seen them in orange and blue though.
  9. I felt the same. I don't know WTF Alex was thinking by asking whether he graduated. I hope he wasn't trying to imply that Joe's acceptances weren't legitimately earned. Angela Merkel and Mariska Hargitay were both instagets for me. Even though L&O: SVU jumped the shark years ago, I think Mariska Hargitay is pretty cool. Poor Kyle... I really really hope Ben is a one and done. Glad you're feeling better, Carpe!
  10. The TS I got were all in the Hitchcock category: Brian DePalma, editor, and Vertigo. I was so close on FJ but couldn't remember who's Rules of Order they were ao I guess they would have dinged me for that. Yay Kyle!
  11. Yay Kyle! For TS I got Adriatic Sea, Japan, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Melissa Gilbert, reflexes, and Erykah Badu. Love huh and it was a shame no one knew her but I wasn't surprised. I had no clue on FJ.
  12. Good for Kyle. I think he’s adorably nerdy plus I was super annoyed Lisa and Alice left all those damn clues on the board with their "I’ll take+full category name + please" nonsense. Lisa knew better because she stopped doing it toward the end of DJ. I liked her in previous games but if that was a delay tactic on her part, that's shady. For TS I got Calm before the storm, quarterback, running back, The Russians are Coming!, Chuck Yeager (whenever a clue is about speed, I default to him), and TWA. FJ was an instaguess but I felt unsure because for some reason I thought it was a TV show rather than a series of books. Think I was mixing that up with Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego...
  13. I had to do a binge watch of this week's episodes so I didn't become invested in any player until Lisa, who I like a lot. I would have been OK with Tal winning too. That’s one of my favorite books but I didn't realize a movie had been made. It must have been difficult to capture all of the adventure in it, kind of like adapting Cloud Atlas.
  14. #JusticeforWilbur indeed! It was an instaget for me but only because coincidentally last week, to settle a bet with a fellow music nerd, I Googled "best James Taylor album" and came upon the fact that Sgt. Pepper's is widely considered to be the greatest album ever. I'm not sure I would have come up with it otherwise. I would definitely choose the Beatles but maybe the White Album instead. Anyway, even as an instaget I don't think I would have been able to write Sgt Pepper's full name in time. I think they should invite Wilbur back to play another game and added that plea to the uproar on Twitter. I thought the same thing. I love Pink Floyd but The Wall is definitely too dark to be considered the greatest of all time. For TS I got Torah and Netherlands, and the missed DD installation. Picture clues for Pope Francis and Qaddafi? *Sigh* That Cyrillic translation was fun - thanks for sharing!
  15. I was super aggravated by that, and Alex didn't even say Morgan, just "Yes, Jeffrey Dean"!
  16. The game had a significantly more methodical feel to me, which makes sense since the tournament champs have a much higher comfort level with being on TV, the buzzer, etc. but I did enjoy returning to starting at the tops of categories and not hunting for the DDs. FJ was an instaget for me because of the quote. I had no idea Mother Teresa was Albanian. #myJeopardyeducation I wasn't a fan of the champ and would have been happy with Eric or the woman to the right of him winning.
  17. Another fun open! Those guys showed great camaraderie both days, which was really enjoyable to watch. Man it hurt when Alan missed that true DD. Buzzy's rally must have completely freaked him out. And speaking of Buzzy, he was even less annoying tonight, not smug at all, and I actually congratulated him out loud. I'm glad the TOC is over so I don't start actually liking him LOL I can't believe FJ was an instaget for me while none of those great players got it - yay me. I have to thank Miss O'Connor, my 2nd grade teacher who made us memorize all the state capitals and pronounced "Montpelier" so beautifully that it became my favorite state capital, and the first one I ever think of when that category is mentioned on Jeopardy!
  18. I had the same thing happen, but for Buzzy rather than Austin. Somehow he didn't seem as smug as usual to me. I LOVED how they all did the robot together for the open. It was a tough game for me. The only TS i got was Jane Fonda, and though I'm brand loyal to all things Apple I had no clue on FJ. I must be entirely too stressed from work to have missed the connection between X and the 10th anniversary!
  19. Yaaaaay Alan! I find his awkwardness endearing. And good for Tim for having a sense of humor and going out gracefully. For TS I got auxiliary, Joan Allen, Herbert Hoover, and guitar. No clue on FJ but I looked it up immediately afterward. #myJeopardyeducation
  20. Exactly. Actually it does. Not in the context of trivia games, but to elaborate would be off topic.
  21. Poor Jason. And poor me for having to endure another 2 days of Buzzy. I only got 2 TS: McCloud (my parents LOVED ABC's Sunday Night Mystery) and tense. I didn't feel sorry for Lisa. First she slumped and pouted, then she was almost hyperventilating, then she was on the brink of tears. I get that she really really wanted to win but no game in the world should take that much of a toll on your psyche, and making the TOC and walking away with 10 grand ain't losing in my book.
  22. Same here. Jeopardy! seems to ask about VPs a lot so maybe I'll study up. For TS I got magnet school and Megadeth. I'm so bummed Andrew blew it with that hefty DD wager. I was hoping he, Austin and Jason would make it to the final, then I'd be happy whoever won.
  23. Great to see Andrew win again, and I'm pretty happy with the final everyone-but-Buzzy. For TS I got Frank Herbert, Triffids and Fantastic Voyage. Not a clue for FJ.
  24. I cannot tell you how happy I am someone else noticed that! It was so distracting AND uncomfortable.
  25. I liked Austin, Alan and David when they became champs, so I would have been happy with any of them winning. I got the Sasquatch DD and I think the 3 TS I got could have been easy with an educated guess: Speak, Land, and Alibi. Whether dabbing or bolting, my loathing of Buzzy is unchanged.
