  1. I'm always pleased to hear the ads, because I want ya to getcha coinz so you can keep making podcasts forever. But Miller Light did take me by surprise. You haven't even had a Casper Mattress phase yet!
  2. It's interesting that they bleep it now. I get the impression (mostly from reddit, so who knows) younger gays are way more likely to call each other that these days. No one used that word affectionately back in the 90s.
  3. All my thumbs are up for Mo Ryan! She was the perfect guest to bring in for that conversation.
  4. To weigh in on the Gays at the Gym issue with the perspective of middle age. . . when this episode would have aired, I was living on Portland. There were just two gyms that were known for being popular among the gays. One was the sort of place that played club music and had a reputation for shower hookups. The other was an upscale gym in downtown that was also popular among young professionals. At the Princeton Athletic Club, in 1999, in Portland, Oregon, you could be kicked out, and ultimately have your membership revoked, for acting or dressing "too gay." It was a different time.
  5. That's funny, because Happy Endings was my guess too, but not for Damon Wayans Jr. I thought I heard Adam Pally in there.
  6. I hope it was worth the wait!
  7. I've been meaning to ask this for weeks: did people think Vincent Young was cute? I'm only going by the visual aids, but he gets a big NOPE from me.
  8. I knew it would come to this. The moment I heard the question, I knew. I'm just glad I wasn't the one who did it. Good luck with the move!
  9. I love the recurring LHOTP theme of cropping header images so it looks like someone is taking someone else from behind.
  10. Absolute best. What you're missing is Gus Fring's death, just to troll Tara. But Salamanca's little bell going off probably doesn't pack the same aural punch as Haley Joel Osment saying,"Walker told me I have AIDS."
  11. When I was a kid, my problem with Lost in Space was that it completely misunderstood the purpose of escapist entertainment. A show about a boy having space adventures with a big robot? Perfect. Add in his parents, siblings, and a leering amoral pedophile? No, that's the shit I was trying to escape from, not into.
  12. I haven't commented since AS3, but this season is breathing the love of the show back into me. So I'll just comment to say this: last night was the best Raven's makeup has ever looked on Ru.
  13. A "psychic" once told me that I'm E.M. Forsters reincarnation. So with that very special credential, I'll say I can't imagine a less necessary re-adaptation than Howards End. The novel is lovely but slight; the 1992 film is lovely and the perfect size to fit the thin material. Does the Starz adaptation devote an entire episode to how snugly all the furniture fits into the new house? (It was a ballsy cold read on the part of the psychic. Forester didn't die so many years before I was born that it was even a safe guess chronologically.)
  14. It troubles me that Dave was allowed to use the phrase "Scandinavian red herring" without setting off any kind of tangent about pickled fish and other Nordic delicacies.
  15. I did a research paper on the kidnapping in college, but most of my memory of the case have fallen out of my brain. But there were still a few SLA-adjacent figures around Berkeley at the time who were willing to say a few vague things about it to an annoying undergraduate. I got the sense that they were offended (on a personal level) by the idea that Hearst had been coerced or brainwashed. I like Sarah's "middle path" take on the case, because I'm sure it was all very complicated, and confusing, because everything is when you're that age.
  16. Surely any thumbnail sketch of Patty Hearst's post-SLA life needs to include mention of the era when she was a John Waters muse.
  17. I just went through a brief IMDB rabbit hole that started with"Oh, Lindsay Price, television tried so hard for you" and ended with the realization that she's in 71 episodes of this nonsense. How can you still have so many episodes in front of you?!?! Be brave.
  18. I think I like "Meathead" for her.
  19. I had the EXACT same imdb spoiler experience Sarah had on Janet McTeer's character. I feel like there was a time when a character like that would have been credited as "The Monster" until the episode the reveal is made. But I guess peak TV eh?
  20. I hope everyone in Hawaii feels better soon! Dave had me very concerned when he tweeted out that selfie last weekend. As much for the resigned-martyr expression on his face as the splotches on his bosom.
  21. B.A.G. just needs a chin shirt and a Segway and he's Mr. Bananagrabber from Arrested Development.
  22. I never shook the belief they would give the win to Trixie, to promote their rising star. What Ben did just paves the way for that, in my mind. I actually think this is a very strong top 5, if you go by things the queens have accomplished outside the season. Based entirely on what they've done in the past few weeks, it's a top 5 that isn't worthy of a regular season, let alone All Stars. Except for Morgan, I'm not counting her, she can take her weird Maleficent face back to the Unseelie Court.
  23. I don't know how I'm supposed to keep watching without Dela. We can just skip to Season 10 for all I care.
  24. It's short for "Look at my eyes, not my breasts," and she's as sick of it as you are.
  25. If they were just going to have Steve not be the father anyway, why not take the opportunity to have him behave in an honorable way? it sounds like he just dug into the manbaby thing deeper and deeper until finally being released from the storyline.
