  1. I'm with teebax on last night's lack of ham, although it looks like there will be plenty of that tonight, on top of which I don't recognize anybody. We were trying to remember if CJ was like a regular tournament with semifinals and wild cards and such, but couldn't. Is it?
  2. I'm sure she's got mad skillz, but her competition all does too, and they've been running restaurants and developing menus while she's been concentrating on TV shows.
  3. I did hear it, Hyacinth, but it was Julia introducing the Italian eggplant dish from a couple weeks back. Even though hers was a simplifoed version, watching that one I just knew it would all fall apart and be a gloppy horrible mess if I tried it.
  4. Did she have a recent disastrous one other than "Worst Chefs"? That's a disaster from the mentally grown viewer's perspective but seems to do well for the network, they keep bringing it back.
  5. A side effect of them dropping judging for the early rounds is that we get very little discussion to refer back to when they make their choices. I don't know anything about Burrell's private life as mentioned above but it sure felt like she had some (presumably FN) thumb on the scale, since she walked in there obviously the least accomplished of the four contestants and walked out the same, but with a place in the finals.
  6. I liked this much better than the Curtis Stone version on FN.
  7. That's just what I did. Which is why I said Stravinsky.
  8. My brother's cat, no kidding, has a credit card. Issued to his first name (Boomer) followed by my brother's last name. You forgot Frida Kahlo to round out the complete history of women in art.
  9. The wire looks like the one on our cat's near favorite, the Cat Dancer. That online price is extra cheap, I think we've usually paid $4-5 - still cheap enough that I could buy one every three years or so and come out ahead.
  10. Sadly, they don't. They sold an exact replica of Converse Chuck Taylors (indispensable for old punx who are too aged to change, of which I am one) for half the Converse price, and nice all-cotton no logo T-shirts, too.
  11. I did, but mostly I was sad because for say a modest 10% share of the product placement money they spent just on Jeopardy I would have told them making a Puss In Boots movie is a dumb idea, and saved them millions.
  12. You don't watch enough Hell's Kitchen :)
  13. Yeah, I thought it would be like a cartoon with smoke shooting from his ears. And the gals would be all for it, too.
  14. Fred's has some difficulties in the past few years which are well documented elsewhere, so actually bringing him on to appear as a "celebrity" was nice of them. And my wife squee'd a bit at Urkel growing up cute. My only regret about Bret's leaving is that we won't get to see him switched to the women's team.
  15. I only know Penn and Mo, but I don't watch sports or get around much.
  16. My feeling is that that department is probably the same one tasked with coming up with theme shows in general, and they should all be sacked.
  17. My first thought was Instagram but I thought a billion sounded like too much. Then I was trying to summon up that Asian texting app that Facebook bought because I knew it sounded like a stupid amount of money on the news when I heard about it and all I could come up with was "Wassup". It turns out it was WhatsUp, and sold for $19 billion. I bought shrimp on sale last week and felt good 'cause I saved 4 bucks.
  18. The Shrimp Fra Diavolo came out pretty great despite not including the pepperoncini, but unless you've got a very hot burner be prepared for it to take twice as long as they predict.
  19. I'm going after the Shrimp Fra Diavolo from this season tonight, but I won't be adding the final ingredient - because I don't have any pepperoncini lying around and damned if I'll go buy a jar to put 1.5 teaspoons in this recipe.
  20. I saw a list of ratings for all the major shows on all networks a couple of years back, and remember being surprised that while it was no 60 Minutes ratings-wise, HK decisively smoked critical favorites like Parks and Rec and Community - I mean leaving them way behind in the dust.
  21. You won't be seeing me on Jeopardy! any time soon.
  22. I'm sorry, but contestant Alex is driving me nuts with the board hopping and stalling (I don't care about the fidgeting, I'd do that), and every time he gets a bet clue we're rooting for him to bet it all and choke. And for the producers to put the bets in the $200/400 row.
  23. It was, if the judge weren't a local celebrity who had never been to the celebrated restaurant where the chef served the region's signature dish. Oops.
  24. So (supposedly) is Milly, and he was moaning about having enough experience. Of course, he might have been put on the spot and couldn't really say what was bothering him (like "Jeezum Pete, I can't believe I signed up for this total bullshit") and had to come up with something quick. 10,000 black mustard seeds says it's Bret who is the first to cross the gender line, and soon too.
  25. You're so famous we don't care if you're dumb.
