I loved how Holt's and Amy's response to Rosa using the flies to frighten the suspect was to ring Yee and celebrate the good news, delighted that they would be able to cheer him up after he was caught deceiving him. It felt very true to fan culture.

I'm kind of hoping that whilst the main plot of missing silver polish takes the forefront, we see the Bates in the background dragging off dead bodies and returning covered in soil. Plot Twist, Baby Bates is the antichrist and has been murdering villagers for their own amusement (and has been stealing the silver polish.)

Tinfoil hat on! Mary's plot is going to be about preparing for the Royal Visit, with an overrunning arc of remaining at Downton. That's been spelled out by the interviews and the trailer. What's interesting is that she exchanges that smile with the Dowager Countess, and in the poster Mary's pose is echoing the Dowager's quite strongly. They are even both wearing blue. Matthew Goode mentioned he will only be in at the end, so I reckon him running up the stairs is him coming home and he will be back in time for the dance. Thomas has a love interest! Please, please let him be happy. That smile on his face during the dance is adorable. Tom has a love interest too. It looks like it's the new maid character. It will be fun to see him do the class difference romance with him on the other side. That dance on the balcony is gorgeous. Edith looks gorgeous, but somewhat nervous in that scene in the gardens. In Laura Carmichael's interviews she mentioned Edith and Bertie having to adjust to their new ranks, which is something neither of them expected. A visit from the royals will probably exacerbate that which should be fun to see. (Or Edith has just discovered she's Rosamund's daughter.) Looking forward to seeing my favourite Magazine owner and the sweetest Marquess ever again.

I've seen some arguments that Brienne is almost certain to die next episode because her arc completed with her knighthood, because becoming a knight is the only things she wants. But remember the scene in Season 4 where she tells Podrick of how happy she was dancing with those boys at her ball. Think of how it was her love for Renly that drove her to becoming a Kingsguard, and how much Jaime means to her. Romantic love means a great deal to Brienne and her character, and just as it was important for her accepted as a knight who is a woman, it is also important for her be accepted (and accept herself) as someone worthy of love and romance on her own terms. Brienne's belief that a woman such as her could not hope to be in a loving relationship with a man she truly wants shouldn't be vindicated anymore than her belief that she cannot be a knight because she is a woman. There is another vital aspect of Brienne's character that needs to be realised before her arc is complete (and that won't be from Tormund dribbling milk down himself). True, the writers may decide to cut her arc short for the sake of tragedy, but if the main argument is 'There's nowhere left for her to go', then that's false. Also, if Westeros does survive the White Walkers then it will need to be rebuilt, and considering how vile Westeros is there will need to be great changes. And one of those changes needs to be in the lives of the women, a change that Brienne; as the first female knight of Westeros, could contribute greatly to.

Tyrion was at his best when he was Hand of the King. Although technically he was under Cersei and Joffrey's authority, he clearly didn't respect it and was happy to undermine them. Now he is somebody's subordinate and , and whereas his skills was suited for the political shenanigans of the Red Keep, everyone on Team Dany is pretty blunt and straightforward in their actions and there is less room for political manoeuvring, so his skills are no longer applicable to the situation he is in. Throw in his conflict over his sister and brother and the considerable trauma he suffered in season 4, it's understandable he is no longer the man he was. In an interview, Peter mentioned sharing some good, intimate scenes with Jaime. Hopefully there will be some specific dialogue there to explain what's going on with him.

Jon and Dany have no use for Jaime. All the armies have effective commanders. Maybe there are some noncombatants and Northern peasants he can protect. Jaime has only one real use: the potential to get close to Cersei and kill her. Fingers crossed he can get that done. They do, but none of whom are known to the audience. The command of the soldiers against the White Walkers is a big deal and dramatically it makes more sense for the role to go to a character the audience has an investment in.

Jon and Dany may have multiple soldiers who could serve as Generals, but Jaime is the only one known to the audience, and last season made of a point of showing Jaime's skills as a commander, probably to build up to this moment.

Didn't Robb once set Grey Wind on a lord who was disrespecting him, resulting in said lord losing his fingers? And was hailed as a strong, badass leader.

Remember Tyrion's book quote about how Jaime made men want to follow him? And Tyrion did a good job of inspiring the troops at the Battle of Blackwater, whilst being a dwarf in an extremely ableist society.

I think my issue with Sansa's characterisation is that I'm having trouble reconciling her being a political savant/ 'smartest person I know' with her putting a woman with a giant army and two dragons on her defensive. Either Daenerys is Sansa's ally, in which case she should endeavour to keep good relations and set an example for the fickle, xenophobic Northern Lords, or Daenerys is a potential enemy/threat, in which case marking herself out as a opponent to Dany isn't a smart move. Whereas offering the olive branch could lower Dany's defences and give Sansa a upper hand. As a rule of thumb, making the woman with two dragons and an army dislike you is a bad idea.

Considering NCW's enthusiasm with Jaime's end (compared to his clear lack of enthusiasm last season) and his negative feelings about Jaime/Cersei (so negative that if given the choice to write Cersei's story, Jaime would have rejected Cersei at fourteenhttps://entertainment.inquirer.net/323014/tears-and-standing-ovation-on-the-game-of-thrones-set-in-ireland-conclusion ) , I don't think they will be dying together. Especially as Cersei is convinced they will be and Cersei is wrong about pretty much everything. Jaime has been with Cersei since they were children and their relationship has formed a great deal of who he is, but the trajectory of his story has had him growing disillusioned with her, going from believing they were one and the same to seeing they were deeply different people and that a lot of his preconceptions were false. But outgrowing his relationship with Cersei doesn't equate to this massive part of his life no long being a major influence on who he is or where he will go. In regards to the 'core' of Jaime's character, that was in reference to how in general Jaime is motivated by love, as shown by the rest of the article. http://anyflip.com/gtfj/heti/

I reckon the intimate scenes between Tyrion and Jaime are going to be partially about Jaime talking about his conflicted feelings towards Cersei (and probably Brienne as well) with Tyrion offering him some guidance. NCW has done a great job so far of showing his conflict facially, I'm hoping he will have a chance to let it all out, like he did with Brienne and the bath.

Considering Nik's excitement over the final season, I suspect he will be a part of the last major battle.

There was a second page to that contract that showed Nik was paid for six episodes, however the main actors are paid for all the episodes in the season. The lawsuit tells us nothing about how many episodes Jaime is in. I reckon they are saving Jaime's arrival until episode 2 because they don't want to overshadow his arrival at Winterfell with Dany's arrival and vice versa.

He did mention it was shot in a beautiful location. That doesn't sound like a battlefield.

I think Gwen's scene is Brienne getting knighted at last.
