They always remind me of the Sloth victim from Se7en. I need to get over it before next week. You're right. I think my mind has suppressed memories of DickJaime from S1. Both Jon and Daenerys are trying to accept new information about facts they have always believed about themselves. Their current identities are both deeply rooted in their origins, which seemed to be 100% established but are now peppered with question marks. It makes sense that neither is coping with it perfectly.

Jamie was kicked out of the Kingsguard and assigned to command the Lannister army after Tommen converted to Sparrowism.

The only problem I have with Arya's sex scene is that her face afterwards was very mehh/disappointed. I guess due to 7 seasons of building it up in her head.

I meant on this season. 😄

LOL at Grey Worm and Missandei planning to give their 2 weeks notice. (That's not how this works, that's not how any of this works!) Definitely- that was some earnest and proud applause. Loved Tormund and Pod in this scene.

Brienne gets a standing "O" from the Giantsbane, still wants an "O" from the Kingslayer. Ser Jorah is still all sex and devotion and honor dripping in garlic butter. Why does no one love him again?

She asked him when the last time was that he fought for "anyone besides himself." I can't remember a time he ever fought for himself. Maybe his trial by combat with the BwoB, but his hand was a bit forced there- otherwise his combat experience has mostly been in service of others.

Can Arya really be so dense to not remember The Hound was protecting her last she saw him? Protecting her to his presumed death?

Gendry sure forged a new weapon tonight.

I just watched a woman cook fried chicken in her bed, wrap a drumstick in tissue, and shove it under her ass for later. Why.

Throw a teaspoon of white vinegar into your veggies while you're tossing with oil+spices. You're welcome. What's that they say about misery?

Except Robb didn't send Grey Wind to attack Umber. Grey Wind sensed that Umber was being an insubordinate dick and interrupted his nap to eat 2 of his fingers.

Not a council. A Maester and a Master at Arms... neither of whom she has to check in with.

I disliked Sansa in S1 when she chose Joffrey over her family, but I grew to appreciate her during her time in KL and the Vale. She's a slow learner, but she's learning. My favorite moment of hers was sniffing out Littlefinger (to this day, I will end random questions with a pause and ....Lord Baelish?) though I thought it exposed how un-Northern Sansa is (or has become) despite her best efforts. One of Ned's principles was that the one who passes the sentence "should swing the sword" unlike the southern houses/Lannisters who used executioners. Sansa sentenced Baelish and Ramsay to die, and didn't swing the sword. That wasn't a kid. That was Lady Lyanna Mormont of Bear Island, First of her Name, Thrower of Shade and Kicker of Asses.

Because telling his Queen to stop being a queen is potentially the worst idea, ever. Also, Jon hasn't told anyone else to give up their titles. I figure the dragons are still in mourning for their brother. (For us it's been a year and a half, but it's very recent for them.)

For me, saying that Jon should have accepted Daenerys' help without bending the knee is like saying "My landscaper keeps mowing my lawn even though I haven't signed the contract agreeing to pay the bills. He's the best landscaper I've found and I won't find anyone better to take care of my home. I should really just let him keep mowing my lawn in perpetuity and not paying him, because I don't have to because I didn't sign the contract." Jon swearing fealty to Daenerys establishes a promise between them; he and his people are now her people. Jon has seen what Daenerys will do for her people. She will not abandon them. She will not leave them to die or be enslaved by the Masters nor the Night King. She will make the greatest sacrifices up to and including her life and the lives of her children to ensure her people survive and prosper. His oath means she is bonded to them, and he believes she is the leader they need for the upcoming war as well as the (hopefully) years afterwards.

He wants everyone in the North to forget his title. He wants them to forget him as King In The North- because he bent the knee to Daenerys. It's over. He did it already. They gave him the power to do so when they named him KitN, and he made a decision that he felt was best for his people.

Also helpful: if Sansa would stop speaking in riddles. Poor girl's got a character limit on her spoken thoughts. "We need to wait until we have a larger army." "I sent a raven to summon the Knights of the Vale and they'll probably be here in the next 24 hours. Can you give me a day?" "Don't do what he wants you to do." "Ramsay is extremely accomplished with a bow and arrow and uses this skill while hunting people who have wronged him. He also enjoys killing people you care about and making sure you see their dead bodies." Jon doesn't think Sansa is smart because Sansa has not had many fine moments with Jon present. Arya on the other hand came back to Winterfell and witnessed Sansa's finest moment (sentencing Littlefinger) not long after, so she disagreed with him.

I would agree with this is Jon was consistent on this approach but he is not. If nothing matters, if all that matters is the war against the AOTD, then why in the world couldn't Jon have agreed to Cersei's request to remain neutral between Daenerys and Cersei? He had the perfect opportunity, nobody would have judged him for it, even Daenerys told him so. The quoted post says "none of it matters"- the "it" being the game of Northern thrones Sansa and the Northern lords are playing. Jon's honor still matters to Jon, so he couldn't swear to remain neutral when he had already designated Daenerys as the North's Queen. He won't remain neutral, so he won't swear to. Do we really believe that even if Jon had sworn neutrality between the Queens, Cersei would be sending the Lannister army to assist?

Because this can't be said enough. All Jon wants to do is keep these people alive.

Daenerys isn't throwing up liberty bells and peace signs while she's at war. Determining who someone will be as a leader of their kingdom during peacetime by the decisions they make during wartime on a battlefield against sworn enemies who will not yield is apples and pineapples. The country she wants to build will be full of free men, women, and children. She isn't finished building it yet, because right now it's full of a bunch of lords and ladies who feel their lives are more important than their subjects'... oh, and it's also getting full of ravenous marching dead people who need her attention.
