I didn't see my cute guardsman among the dying or the corpses, so I still have hopes he'll show up in the future. That's really the only thing that I'll be coming back for in season 2. I never connected to anyone in this group. And boy does it bug that Salazar is being hailed as a hero for unleashing a zombie horde upon the unsuspecting masses. I was so hoping the Shawn Hatosy character would kill him. I'm curious why Strand doesn't like his house setup for the long term. If this were medieval times, that's where the army would build their fortress. Maybe he doesn't have easy access to supplies? Otherwise, I can see settling in and staying there. You can always run for the ship if the zombies come knocking, but no zombie is going to get to that place easily. Speaking of Strand, he had more spark with Madison in 2 minutes than Travis had with her all season.

It was foolish of Peter to let Eli go. He knows where all the bodies are buried, and considering Peter's history, that may not be a metaphorical statement. He knows enough to annihilate Peter and Alicia. That's not the person you let go or allow to become an enemy. He and Margo Martindale will be worthy opponents this season. I like the new female attorney so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing Alicia have a friendship again. I don't know if MJF's meds are working better or maybe he's in a little bit of a remission? He seemed much less twitchy and his speech was better than last season. I could relate to Cary's dilemma tonight. I once joined a club where I was too young for the senior crowd and too old for the younger crowd. It's a lonely feeling.

I want the dark haired soldier to survive and tag along with the main characters. He was nice eye candy and a decent actor, and lord knows someone in that group is going to have to know how to use weapons. I'm skeptical that Strand could look at Nick and see anything but filth, grime and general patheticness, but if his good grooming habits can rub off on Nick, I'm all for this partnership.. I'm unspoiled, so I'm curious to see if Shawn Hatosy is a regular on this show, or will be offed in the finale. A tortured man forced to go along and get along with his torturer has all kinds of plot potential.

I'm trying to remember what designs Lindsay showed in the season opener that made them choose her to be on the show. They clearly haven't liked a thing she's done since. Watching this show you'd swear the only greens are emerald and kelly, and the only blue is royal. Why is it so difficult to cut the shorts/skirt longer than you think you need, then hem it once the model tries it on? Every season, EVERY SEASON, a model has to walk the runway with her cheeks and/or crotch hanging out. It seems so preventable. Laurie didn't even seem apologetic about doing that to her model.

Heh. I missed the "You got Willcalled". Will have to go back and watch. She jalso just recently played Hilary Clinton's anger translator on Key and Peele opposite Keegan as Obama's anger translator. I think she and Keegan have a history dating back to Mad TV.

Isn't there a Kenny Loggins history that made him an obvious choice? In the pilot when Emma is driving through town doesn't she start singing a Kenny Loggins song? I have a vague memory of that. If so, it probably played out the way it usually does for shows that fixate on a certain actor, singer or athlete. The celebrity hears about it, is flattered, and eventually appears on the show. Tears for Fears (or one of them anyway) appearing on Psych, for example. The romance feels a little rushed, and now I'm worried that ratings are bad so they wanted to give a semi-satisfying ending if it turned out to be the series finale. Hope I'm wrong. Good to know Kenny can still flex the golden pipes.

Michael is the one who went against Taylor. Those would be my choices too. Dominique usually has an interesting setup, but her punchlines are never as funny as they could be. She needs a joke doctor. I think if Shang could cut down on the setup to his jokes he would go over better. He probably has fewer punchlines than any other comedian in the competition. The host may have been the funniest guy on stage tonight, zinging Roseanne and Norm.

If we're already paring it down to 5, what is the show this season, like a miniseries? I don't get it. I don't blame the judges for putting Clayton through, because I like him. But I do blame the producers for putting him up against Joe List, who I thought was one of the strongest comics in the whole group. When Norm said they both had a chance to win the whole thing, I was nodding my head yes. So save both of them! What kind of thinking went into that? I hate that the judges like the dorky lady comic so much. I had to fast forward through her set after about a minute. She grates so much. I don't think this final 5 represents the best comics at all.

I don't think they'll kill Cullen. I just don't necessarily think they'll give him a happy ending. Or a traditionally happy ending, anyway.
-
I don't know if Cullen will get a happy ending. So far they've portrayed him as rather a tragic figure. Those dreams of his with the house by the sea and the wife and child...I figure if it happens in the finale, it's only because he's hallucinating as he lays dying. But I'm cynical like that.

A pity Nick isn't the one who got stuck in the barber shop.

Speaking of...didn't she develop into a gambling pro last season? What became of that? Why is her future so uncertain if she can win at cards ?(as unlikely as it is that she was able to become such a pro in such a short time). How dumb is that prostitute? Isn't the money usually down her cleavage, in her boot, or hidden in the bed? Dude, go outside and bury it somewhere. I had a brief thought about googling how Brigham Young really died after his son stabbed him. But ...naturally he can survive multiple stab wounds (to the abdomen! with the knife twisted in there for effect!) and is in such good shape that he can wrestle and overpower his son. Sure. Whatever. So glad the Swede didn't snap the dog's neck before he left. Would be totally in character for him. Fingers crossed for resolution to the Swede's storyline next week. It's past time, really.

These villains ultimately didn't work for me. And it seems like they started a brother vs brother plotline between the two leaders that never had any payoff. Plus being stuck in a sub and on a ship and trying not to communicate so as not to give away your positions lessens some of the dramatic tension betrween the opponents. Hoping for better villains next season. I was kinda hoping it would end with everyone the captain thought needed special protection vanishing at the end, making their victory a little hollow. Maybe they've left a lot of footage on the cutting room floor, but Tex's comments to Rachel seemed out of the blue. What has he noticed? Why would he assume she's worried about the captain? They kinda dropped the storyline of his crush on her this season, and they've barely spoken. That whole sequence seems to have been designed as a "early antagonism leading to a hot affair" trope.

The stupidity is strong with this group. Did Madison ever go outside and inform the neighbors what was going on, like she promised her daughter she would? If not, then it's partially on her that the people at the end of the episode were getting attacked. Just like Tobias's death would have been on her for sticking around a little too long for Artie to attack. If Travis's son won't answer the phone did it occur to Travis to send him a text? "The dead are coming back to life. Get inside. Call me." I think he might get a call back. And the whole phone conversation with his ex, where he's still talking to her like there's a bad flu going around and they really need to find Chris, while she spouts off their custody agreement instead of listening...I just...hate these people. It's not a good sign when I'm hoping for some main character deaths 2 epis in.

I thought it lacked the cinematic quality of the first episode of The Walking Dead. That pilot I can watch again and again, and there are so many scenes that are iconic and beautiful. This was more paint by numbers, and I have no desire to watch it again. I'm in for the season, as I imagine most Walking Dead fans are, but I wouldn't want to use this show to introduce any friends to the franchise. Too slow, and I'm already tired of the blended family and their issues. Please let the junkie wash his hair before they get totally cut off from civilization. I put up with it from Darryl, Rick and crew because it makes sense in their circumstances. For this version, everyone should at least start out with clean, shiny hair.

When Taken 3 came out, I couldn't help but remember Lachlan Patterson's tour guide joke with his suggested name for the next Taken movie...Taken 3: Why Won't you Stop Taking Me? It still makes me laugh. I haven't kept up with him, but I hope he's capitalizing on his success last season. I'd love to have an over the shoulder camera view of the judges poring over everyone's profiles as they sit at the table and make final deliberations with snippy little comments like "Not him. He was terrible". Glad someone in this thread explained who Taylor was. I like her too but her name doesn't stick with me. I seem to only remember them if they stand out for reasons other than their great comedy e.g. memorable names like Sheng Weng or their dufus-y acts a la Brian Kellen.

I saw it, hated it, didn't understand it, and so instantly knew the judges would love it. I once saw a Good Housekeeping magazine circa 1972 with Mary Tyler Moore' s house featured in all its floral glory. I swear the print on her sofa was similar to the cape of the "winning look". So when Zach said it was "fun in a '70s kind of way" I knew exactly what he meant, minus the fun part. I have a lot of sympathy for what Edmond was dealing with tonight. Talk about passive aggressive...the way she wouldn't even watch him to try and learn how to make a swimsuit, for example. All because she didn't like the fabric? So grab the fabric you really want and make a good swimsuit!Stop whining. Don't let him boss you. He has immunity! But at the same time, I couldn't quite get where Edmond's head was tonight. He says he's made swimsuits before, so he would have to know their print wasn't a suitable fabric I notice when he went to make the backup suit, he didn't mess around with that fabric that they just had to use, according to him.. So why not let his partner have a stretchy fabric and he could make something out of the floral fabric? Why was garish yellow the only solid fabric that would match? Why are tacky, full length day glo yellow skirts suddenly "in"? If Edmond's taste level is questionable for designing one, why isn't Ashley's taste level questionable for wearing one? So many questions...

I can't stand Andy, her humor or her voice, but I will live with the choice with no complaints because they didn't also put Brian Kellen through. One annoying comic per season, that's my quota. I wish the Indian? guy had gotten in, and I don't quite love Francisco as much as the judges, but otherwise I was okay with the choices. I find Clayton light years better than his kiosk friend who made it through last year. If he has enough material, he could be a contender to win it all. The most interesting part of the episode to me was Wanda Sikes' critique of their acts, and then how they changed their jokes in subtle ways based on her advice. I wish they had actually shown more of that.

Shaking my head at Lucy and Daphne. The minute the judges said what this week would be about, my first thought was "Lucy and Daphne won't think they need to change much at all". And they didn't. Ugh. Did they even replace that small-ass ceiling fan in the master bedroom? That's where I'm at as well.

Yep. Sometimes I think Eric Danes has been told to clench that jaw until it hurts and don't unlock it until we yell "Cut!". A little more emoting and a little less steely resolve would be good sometimes. I know he's capable of showing emotion, like last season when he found his family. But at no time did he look even a little conflicted when dealing with Rachel in that scene, and just a hint that this wasn't easy for him or that it hurt him to punish her would have gone a long way with me. If the closeup of his eyes at the end was supposed to convey some deeply felt emotion--well, all I saw was constipation.

Why would they not have Eddie visit a Caribbean-style restaurant for his pilot and let him run with the viewpoint he's been touting for the whole season? I don't think anyone else on the Food Network is filling that niche, so that would seem like a no-brainer. Did we really need another show about barbecue? I'm really wondering if they decided early on that the winner was going to be Eddie, so they changed the format of the new pilot to highlight his strengths- charisma, people skills, ease on camera, and minimize his weaknesses--lack of food authority, up and down results of his recipes, etc. If Jay or Dom had won, maybe we'd have gotten an actual cooking show.

It was really hard to be on the side of the "good guys" in this one when they were all acting so prissy and self-righteous, particularly the captain. Although I also wanted to smack Rachel for trying to justify and rationalize it in any way. You did it. Own it and hold your head high when you get your punishment. Don't act so surprised and upset that you're actually going to be punished. She had to know she was on a ship full of people who choose to live by a whole bunch of rules and codes, and she did herself no favors by not immediately copping to it, putting others under suspicion.

I was thinking of certain cultures where when you take out the father, you also take out any of his progeny who could come back and exact their own revenge one day. Or maybe I've just watched The Godfather too many times. ;) Mei is going to be out to get Chang, so I think he'll try to silence her one way or the other if she makes waves. Just outing her as an unprotected female in that camp could do a lot of damage. That was my take on it. He has at least a small amount of conscience. Not enough to stop the transaction from happening, of course. Although really there was no way to stop it without outing himself as a con man, and ruining the scam. The more he protested, the more Psalms was inclined to think he had other reasons for not wanting to sell.
-
I'm afraid Mei is going to give herself away with her grief over her father's death, That's if her and Cullen's flirting hasn't already given the game away ,...Once Chang figures it out, the possibilities for how to hurt her are endless. I wouldn't be surprised if his ultimate revenge is forcing her to marry him. I can't believe Cullen turned his back on Chang because he was so blinded by his hatred for the Swede. Chang is way more formidable than the Swede. The Swede is crazy but he doesn't have an army of minions (yet)to help him like Chang does. They're both huge threats to Cullen and he needs to stop trying to "keep his enemies close" and see to getting them dead. I'm glad they're not trying to pretend that Cullen's wife is his lost love and the center of his future happiness. Is this good news? I got the impression from Durant's conversation later in the show that he was selling the land to the gullible because he knew it would soon be worthless, and using that money to buy land in the soon to be prosperous Cheyenne. That's why he let Psalms buy the land.

Project Runway Quotes: "But What About Andrae?"
