  1. Alexa, and the other stuff that are popping up, plus a bunch of "secret" developments are A.I's. Not like the all controlling and all powerful, but those are what they are, the divisions of the tech companies developing them call it exactly that: A.I's
  2. I think Katherine is a real estate lawyer? While it is true that some medications can reduce libido, there are many that don't. Doctors do change meds all the time, trying new things. So. it does't have to be meds-or-no-meds situation. Of course, being TV, it is possible. I also hope that they don't go the inspo porn way, the ableist way of dealing with depression. On the first house I bought with my husband, I signed the mortgage papers but I wasn't in the mortgage itself, meaning I needed his authorization to talk to the bank about anything related to the mortgage. It was a pain and reeks of patriarchy. When he passed, I had survivor's rights (my name was on the deed, as it is the law in my state) so that was a mostly painless transition. Banks just want to get their money. The fact that Delilah wasn't contacted is just a TV fantasy bullshit. Besides, she would have to be completely oblivious to all things life to ignore that something needs to be done to record his death, probate if there is one, etc.
  3. Well, I disagree with some of what you say because yes, the Director can do whatever, it seems (besides it is a TV show, somewhat dystopian and - I am guessing now - loosely evoking the movie 2001). It saved a future POTUS. Why not save others? 9/11 did change how the U.S. Runs its foreign policy, and I think it is directly related on how the corporations that help destroying the planet got even more powerful. I think the message of the show, if there is any, is that we are doomed and there is no way to save the planet anymore - especially with this year's report on climate change. There is also this freaky possibility of an A.I. running the whole planet, or trying to, or partially doing so. I don't think we will get to this point but the way we rely on A.I. today is a slippery slope of unintended consequences.
  4. Ok but if something so big and that actually changed the course of a lot of international relations (and human relations if you factor in the bigotry that increased because of that), then The Director could simply start changing who gets elected, who gets to create corporations who basically destroy the planet resources, who gets to become the next "innovator" who ends up doing more evil than good, who gets to be more influential... I can see the conclusion being that things cannot be changed but it does't make sense to me that this one event is what will trigger the new program and that from there things would be different. I hope they keep the event in the show. Erasing it delves too much into fantasy.
  5. I don't think this is where the writers are/were going to. If 9/11 didn't happen, it means that the future was able to change this. So why can't the future change other events in the 21st and save humanity?
  6. Yes, I got an answer for that. I was confused because this one remaining thread is under "Media". I also don't understand why the forum - even tough it is not a real forum anymore - was kicked out of my list of following contents, since it is possible to add this one thread to the list. Really messed up. Unless it is a matter of sustainability, it doesn't make sense to make things worse and confusing.
  7. So, the show forum was kicked out of my list of following contents, it is not listed on the "T" forums, and the only topic that comes up in "other T shows" is this one. This is also the only topic that comes up on the search results. Is anyone having the same problems? The forum was active yesterday. Thanks
  8. Wait, trying to sort this out
  9. I have mixed feelings about the movie Wonder but the actress who plays Taylor has a major part in it and she is quite good
  10. Ah... Thanks for the recap. I think I was dozing off as I watched it because I missed the date/time (plus everything else, haha) I don't remember the episode they showed Rico Colantoni leaving the WTC, therefore escaping his death but maybe Mac also had time/decided to leave? Probably something the writers hope to explore.
  11. Was he in NY? I thought the setting is supposed to be Washington State? What did I miss? And he was sent back before the attacks, in August. I am still a little confused about how things got reseted. Mac knew what to do, so he has memory from he failed program. Marcy meets David but she does't have an intellectual disability anymore. How is this possible? And while the first travelers program happened in/around 2017-2018, the second one is in 2001, which would put Marcy at what, 10 years old? If the new program will use the same bodies, they should get new actors, at least for the young ones because it makes no sense at all. Unless I missed yet another detail.
  12. That's TV World. Have you watched 24? No traffic in LA, crossing the city and avoiding all terror plots one hour at a time. As I mentioned, it is lazy writing. By mentioning something that makes this much sense, how would they put Sophie in the pantry, realizing they had the cider, get her to check her app and go to the hospital? You are demanding too much thinking of the writers.
  13. It is lazy writing. They needed to write this so that Sophie could find the cider in the pantry. They are supposed to take responsibility for their actions and if this means piling up on the others, it is on them. Basically they are excusing their lies because of how they assume others will feel about them (D+E), how they will be seen, treated, shunned, blamed, whatever. It is immature and selfish. They are only thinking about themselves, how to spin the first lie - the affair - with a bigger lie. It would be terrible for the kids but Delilah is simply putting herself before the kids, whatever she says to exempt herself.
  14. Agree and will add: why go back to a Christmas Tree place when you can get the same lights at a dollar store, with no lines? Good observation. And if she was able to do this in the house, she would have been able to find the room in the ER too.
  15. Adding my voice to the collective ewww of Gary kissing puke mouth. You just don't do that! I liked that they went there with Rome and the lack of libido due to the anti depression meds. It is common. Most people do try to change the meds though. Let's see if the writers explore that or drop it completely? I am not buying the working at all times story from the other episode - Katherine (Catherine?) is a real state lawyer. As far as I know, having dealt with some recently, they don't really work at odd hours. So the whole thing might have been the writers deciding that they need to put those two together. And how can someone be served with eviction without some pre-announcement? I gathered that the notices went to the apartment so Delilah didn't know about them, but wouldn't the process be that the bank contact the survivor, or sent notices to the actual address? And why hasn't Delilah dealt with all the bureaucracy involved when one spouse dies? It is a pain, but the sooner you deal with that, the better. The bank would know about Jon's death and would start dealing with Delilah. Besides, as much as banks are basically jerks in corporation form, they do have provisions for situations like that. Does anyone know how this show is written? Is there a writer's room? Is it one writer that develops the script and delivers it as they are contracted to do. I ask because I know some writers and in their show the stories had a head writer but the actual script was developed in a writers' room, with input from all the others in the team - or at least most of the others. The lack of continuity and consistency is something that annoys me (Maggie fainting and not mentioning it again, the dates/time of Jon's death for example.
  16. I still like the show, or maybe I am still intrigued by it, wanting to know where they are going. There are good themes that can be explored and I hope they do that. I am disappointed with how they turn Maggie into getting chemo. I wish they had focused more on her own feelings about mortality instead of just reacting to a tearful story of friendship. Depression is a hard theme and even harder to be dealt with in shows (like all disabilities) so I am half hoping they will leave it mostly alone. Contrary to (what seems) most of people here I have no idea of who those actors are. The only one i recognize is Grace Park from the very good, very unwatched The Cleaner. So I don't watch the show because of any actor, or think the characters only somehow work because of certain actor. I am still forming my opinion on the actors/character but mostly I blame the writing for the lack of personality on Delilah and Regina. The writers must be all male.
  17. This episode was so bad I cannot say which part was worse. Or who was the worst actor. I will say this though: they are almost right on how they portray Chicago police. The super authoritarian way of dealing with people. That detective (?) was seriously breaking laws (which apparently is rampant in real life Chicago). Is the brother cop part of the other show? I never watch that. They force a civilian to break all the laws and now he is marked for death (ignoring that protective custody does not work like that). The woman who stabbed her husband asked Maggie to contact him but she was conscious so Maggie looking on her phone was invasion of privacy. She should have asked first. Connor cried after he killed the patient to comply with authoritarian "friend". Fuck all of them.
  18. I do get your point but hot? Nah, I thought he was pretty disgusting.
  19. Right about the pipes. The water is already there, you just don't put your face under it. Also agree about Delilah admission and hoping that the writers will make Eddie become an adult soon. If this is well written, it is valid. Even in long marriages, when something happens, it is not a given that one of them will do something. Human emotions are complicated. We see things falling apart and just go on living either by making ourselves believe everything will be fine, or by resenting the other and waiting for them to do something. I think Delilah's excuse is hindsight and that part didn't really bother me. I was annoyed that they didn't pick up where they left with Maggie. I was hoping that she decided to have chemo because she got scared after that moment, being alone. It would have been much better for the story, to show her conflict, the fear of seeing death approaching, the conflict of having her new friends close, known that somehow she is disappointing them, at the same time trying to have some control over her life. Instead, the writers decided to do the inspirational thing, Maggie will have chemo because poor Gary missed her unwavering supportive friend. For the first time Ashley didn't annoy me. I realized she is not a robot faking emotions.
  20. Apologies if this has been posted here already but I only saw this today. Interesting, even though it doesn't look like it will be as radical and unapologetic as the Sins Invalid. https://www.nationaldisabilitytheatre.org/?fbclid=IwAR2VlvBz0MAxRmpqHSf8vbP3fnVwQHnUqDDG2cJg8Qb0eDAMyrvdEWjQciM
  21. I stopped watching the show on season 4. I always liked the concept of having *real* time events, even with the absurdities of crossing LA in 10 minutes, never charging cell phones or eating... It was fun and fast. But I got tired of it. I am finishing watching season 5 now. Still fun and a new perspective of State sponsored violence, surveillance, abuses. But I came here to snark a bit. One thought: For a place supposedly gathering intelligence and fighting terrorism, CTU is amazingly easy to be infiltrated and to produce traitors.
  22. Should we expect that these will not be the reasons than? Because making sense is not the writers' main feature.
  23. ...but because we are talking about a TV show made for the upper middle class, she will not have a moment's worry about her insurance, or denied treatment, and will continue to eat well, dress amazingly - without even wearing the same clothes twice in a month, taking cabs to go everywhere, all her bills will be paid on time...
  24. I agree that Gary is a good friend and that he is the one who can keep secrets. But his "pushy" part is selfish. He is doing this because he sees his loss, not what Maggie wants. It is what most of us feel, but something I believe we need to be conscious about if/when dealing with similar situations. This constant push for treatment and cures, for the heroism, is all fun of inspiration but if it goes against what the person wants, it is just selfish. Ideally, Gary would give Maggie some space and not engage in bets or deals to get her to do what she has decided based on what the doctor told her. She is terminal, she will die in less than a year or in less than five, the treatment might not work. It is not like she will live as a disabled person, which is something that people are afraid of but in some/many/most cases is not terminal, or no one can give an actual life expectancy. If I remember well, it is a matter of time for her (of course, the writers can just forget all this and cure her). One thing I like about the show is this nuanced approach, sometimes the possibility of a nuanced approach, to themes like this one. I do like the character but I don't want them to convince her to seek treatment for the sake of making others comfortable.
  25. I choose to have compassion for people who commit suicide. The person is already empty of hope, probably believing they don't deserve anything and that no one will care if they die. I refuse to allow myself to think that they should have found a "better way" to end their own lives. The burden someone who is bout to end all might carry gives me pause to blame them for the feelings of people who are left. I do feel for those people but cannot fathom the loneliness of someone taking their own life. It is a lose-lose situation. Can's stand Ashley. I think it is the actress I cannot stand but still. It is an unnecessary character, in my view. True, I didn't think about that. I guess I will have to settle for the miracle recovery then. Ugh.
