  1. Well, yesterday's show only covered the Arbery hate crime verdicts for about 3 minutes before turning to Ukraine... Doesn't feel any different to me than how they momentarily covered that story (and I do remember it being mentioned on the show). She says dumb things all the time, which is probably why it didn't really stand out to me. All I could think was what pointless advice that was; I don't think him talking to anyone is going to change anything. Yeah, I found it very hard to believe that Sunny would be okay with her husband going to a stripclub. I know I wouldn't, so it's hard for me to believe that Sunny would be when she's much more prudish than I would ever be on most other subjects.
  2. Not much of note today. Interviews for nearly the whole hour, so... Loved seeing Marlee Matlin!
  3. I'm not a big fan of Sherri as a personality--she is a very good actor though--still I'm happy for her that she got a talkshow! So this counts her in with Rosie O'Donnell, Joy, and Meredith Vieira as being among co-hosts who had solo shows separate from the show. Are there any others? I believe Whoopi had a short-lived one, too, before my time. Not sure about Jenny McCarthy...
  4. Good to know. I know Sunny is disliked for her relationship stuff, but she has not ever been anti-Asian American.
  5. I thought today's show was a little better than the past two days, although I personally thought Monday and Tuesday were still worth seeing for the humor. I agreed with Joy that the U.S. is fast transforming into what we were fighting against in WWII, and also what she said about the gall that Carlson, Trump, etc. aren't merely advocating isolationism, but outright praising Putin for taking over a democracy by force. Whoopi had the best moment today though, when they played the clip of Trump praising Putin for invading a free country and how this wouldn't have happened if he was in charge: "That's because you would've sold Ukraine down the river" (or something along those lines).
  6. ? Having watched the show, I remember Sunny specifically saying that hate crimes were on the rise against all three groups of Black people, Jews, and Asians...
  7. To the bolded: I doubt that. He'd have to get into witness protection because he wouldn't have anything to dip anywhere for very long. As for Joy, I don't believe she was implying the Queen should be locked in a room by herself somewhere.... It was a one-liner mocking the Prime Minister for the fact that his decision-making can't even keep the Queen safe, much less the country at large, lol. @GHScorpiosRule: Whoopi's eyeroll got me, too, and then Joy describing Sunny like a cartoon princess. I can't stop seeing it.
  8. Joy was on fire today! It probably would've been a little boring otherwise.
  9. Wow, that's shocking. I don't believe she would return because of how the media treats The View these days, but I can't believe they've never even asked her. Then again, I guess it wouldn't make sense for them to since Whoopi's never shown any interest in leaving this show. I believe the only reason Meredith left was because of some sexist / ageist remarks behind-the-scenes towards her when it came time to sign again, basically that she was old and had nowhere else to go anyway... Today was boring, but I knew it would be because of the holiday. Ana made me laugh when she asked for everybody to stop putting their feet on the table already. Sunny did show her feet. I really did think when in the last minute of the show that Whoopi was about to surprise slap down her own foot on the table, but I was wrong. I guess maybe she might've fell over trying though.
  10. The Idol interview will be fluff for sure, but at least I don't dislike them like a lot of their guests. YMMV I actually feel the opposite, that the show is better since she joined. The only seasons I hated were the ones with JLO and Harry Connick, Jr. there.
  11. Surprisingly, I'm looking forward to all the guests this week--Meredith, Gordon-Levitt, and Matlin especially. With Whoopi out on Friday's as it is, it would be nice if Meredith moderates.
  12. Oh, wow. All I remembered was the 3 million number for Joy. I assumed both her and Whoopi got around that same area; I didn't realize they had managed to go higher since. And I recall when the last co-host started there, as the lowest on the totem pole, she made 1 million per season (and so I assume Sara and Sunny are a little above that level--1.5 million or something). A million is still a lot in my eyes, but that's probably peanuts in the scheme of things for TV personalities, and that's taking into consideration they probably have to live somewhere nearby that costs a great deal in order to get to the show on time every day. The grey hair segment was the funniest thing, I had to rewind it several times to watch it again. I think Sunny didn't like Joy telling her she messed up, and so brought up what Joy said to one of the producers. I love how Joy just burst out laughing and played along with it rather than blowing up like some co-hosts might've done. Friday's remain the best days for this show thanks to Joy and Ana.
  13. The guest was pretty vile in the discussion over police bias, for taking a topic that was already about race divisions and then using race to further divide the topic. As far as I know, none of the co-hosts had mentioned DefundthePolice other than her, and I'm pretty sure from past shows that the only outspoken supporter of the hashtag is Sunny. I believe the others have argued that the hashtag is easily smeared despite the fact they support reform. It was nonsensical and kind of disrespectful to Whoopi and Sunny to make the discussion about "White liberals think x" when the two people she was mainly arguing with were Black (as well as Latina in Sunny's case)... When they were talking about masks in the first segment, and she tried to make some convoluted argument that liberals also politicized the pandemic because "something something mask rules changed, people had to wear masks while dining mumble mumble," as if that was equivalent to Joy's reference to conservatives spurring on anti-Asian American hatred and scaring people out of wearing masks or taking vaccines, I loved when Joy just looked at her like she was stupid, lol.
  14. The View has always had higher ratings during presidential election years, so some drop from last season was inevitable. That easily describes a fall from 2.918 to 2.478 million. Even the article notes that the year prior to the election, they'd been averaging 2.5 million and that's the area they were in before Whoopi's controversy. As for the 2.1 during the week after Whoopi's screw-up, I'm sure the show will stabilize again in a month or two. Something similar happened last season because of McCain's anti-Asian remarks. The situations were different though, so I wouldn't expect Whoopi to end up fired or anything. For one thing, McCain was in trouble constantly, it wasn't a one-off event like here with Whoopi, more like the straw that broke the camel's back. For another, McCain was only endured partly because of the flawed logic that her nonstop hateful comments and Jerry Springer-esque antics contributed to ratings, so when one of her many controversies caused ratings loss instead, it disproved the show's flimsy justification for keeping her around.
  15. The guest co-host tried to BothSides the Sandy Hook settlement against a gun manufacturer with Texas' vigilante-style abortion ban... For those two things to be equivalent, they'd have to have sued individual gun owners, sued any and all friends who knew those gun owners had guns, the store that sold them the guns, etc. etc. What a leap!
  16. One of their funnier shows today. Between Joy turning her fumble into a recurring joke in the first segment ("You mean AOC?") to Whoopi's voice on the fiances arguing topic to Ana acknowledging Whoopi choking herself at the beginning of the interview, it was pretty much straight through the whole show. The very last shot before the commercials set in being Sara pretending she's about to attack Joy again ("Joy!" "NO!") was hilarious.
  17. Joy Behar's been on TV for a quarter of a century... Clearly she's not a flash in the pan like other co-hosts who come and go. I'd say she's the main reason the show has lasted this long.
  18. I didn't think Joy even used Twitter, lol. Part of me thinks this was deliberate on Joy's part to help divert attention from Whoopi's first day back, who McCain had helped to dogpile after all. I mean, it would be easy to predict McCain going psychotic, since she would over anything related to Joy. Projection is the name of the game these days though. McCain sounds like she's describing herself with the way she spent months whining about how she was fired, then coming out to knife a former co-worker in a weak moment. Joy tweeted one word while McCain has made like five different rants about it already going by that article alone, lmao.
  19. Good riddance to her, wherever she's gone.
  20. Just an alright show today. I loved seeing the wedding photos at the end of Darlene's number, Sunny's dress looked great.
  21. I could've seen Sara moderating 1 Girl 5 Gays. I miss that show sometimes, it could be fun.
  22. I loved that actor for young Dean, too. I generally didn't like the appearances of their younger selves aside from that episode.
  23. Nah, I don't agree that Rosie's that bad or that she's like Whoopi at all. Whoopi's problem is a combination of her ego and being incomprehensible because her mind isn't firing on all cylinders anymore thanks to drugs. She would argue with Rosie and Sunny even on things she normally said herself, just for a reason to argue with them and to feel like she's running the show--all while making no sense at all. That, and she puts zero effort in because she feels she's underpaid. Rosie's only flaw is occasionally becoming too passionate about the topics, not that she wouldn't allow the topics themselves to be discussed. I remember there were some topics while she was there in 2014 that Whoopi wanted off-limits that only ended up on the show because of O'Donnell. And, hey, if O'Donnell would be able to keep some of the more rancid people who've tried to get a spot off the show, more's the better, imo. But my point was to say that it's unlikely Meredith would come back. If the show was still the way it had been then, I believe she would for sure.
  24. I expect Whoopi will be back Monday even though two weeks would technically be Tuesday or Wednesday.
  25. I think it's more likely Rosie O'Donnell would return than Meredith. Like Lisa, Meredith has said several times that she doesn't think she could deal with the way the media treats The View these days. Rosie might consider coming back if Whoopi ever does leave. But Joy is perfect as moderator, imo. The only downside is that she gets to talk less as a moderator than a regular panelist and I admit I prefer hearing Joy's thoughts over most of the others. I have no doubt Sara would put in the effort, she seems to have really good work ethic going by how she handles View Your Deal, The Chase, etc., but I don't think a moderator role would suit her or Sunny, tbh. There are a lot of celebs out there who could fill the role of moderator (Gayle King, Queen Latifah, Ann Curry, etc.) if they ever did need a new one, it would be more an issue of getting them to take the job.
