  1. I thought Riley let his nerves get the best of him; he sounded much better at practice.  However, I also have the minority opinion of being underwhelmed by Jason.  I thought his falsetto notes were out of tune and borderline painful.  At least Riley brings a little novelty for those of us who are tired of people confusing yelling with singing.  Riley, you got a second chance here so get control of those nerves.

You know, with a couple of exceptions (okay, maybe only one exception - the Pats),  it feels like this football season is taking place in Bizzarro world. Expectations are being upended. Good teams play like crap. Bad teams are good. Pretty soon up will be down.

And yet the Browns will continue to provide the comforting consistency you need in this topsy-turkey season.

  3. It is fascinating to see the parallels between the Cavs' run and the Tribe's run in the post-season: both swept a team (2 in the Cavs' case), both had to go through Toronto, and both ended up in the finals facing the media's darling with the best regular season record.  I just hope the Tribe can win it all without the 1-3 comeback the Cavs needed.  I don't think my heart can take that again.

  4. A lot of our Tribe players are home grown.  Our family has been cheering Francisco Lindor since AA in Akron.  Kipnis, Chisenhall, Salazar, Allen, Rameriz, Tomlin, Naquin, Perez . . . We are the anthitesis of the George Steinbrenner "buy a team" approach.

  5. And the players association and owners say the 4 year old he murdered deserved to die so they are protesting that quarter suspension.

  6. So Trevor Bauer leaves with blood gushing from his finger and the Toronto fans cheer?!?  Stay classy, guys.  I assume beer cans are being lined up now.

The booing during the national anthem was more disrespectful than what he does.   At least Kaep kneels quietly.   You are supposed to stand still, with your hand over your heart and your mouth SHUT.   But it's all about some faux outrage over his kneeling.   And the sniper shirts went way over the line.   No wonder he is protesting.

I have been saying that if people were as outraged over the reason he isn't standing as they are over the fact he isn't standing, Colin would already be standing again.

Hey. Their house. it was a wreck when they moved in. when did it get so beautiful????

In the last episode Jimmy cleaned it up so that Ray could have friends over.

Hubby and I don't qualify for any government rehab projects on our house.  It's a fast jump to families being responsible for 100% of the cost so we would be more likely to DIY.

The family fun day is a struggle for us.  We try to balance it all out, and there are many things they get to do because they have a brother with special needs (the zoo has a dedicated night for families or the hospital has a picnic for families).  That scene again is where Jimmy shines by pulling the mom aside and telling her the kids need to see her happy.

  9. I tried to watch Raising Arizona once and didn't make it too far, but I do remember liking the scene when the adoption agency points out his criminal record and Nicholas Cage says with Holly Hunter being in law enforcement they can give the child a balanced look so the baby can choose for him or herself.  That is one of the movies that made me realize I don't particularly like movies described as "quirky."

  10. They didn't say, but I assumed it has to be positioned  "just so" to get in/out and we were supposed to think the steam from the hot shower might have caused problems, too.

Another great episode that hit home for us on many levels.  My favorite part was JJ hitting Kenneth's hand and Kenneth telling him not to shout.

  11.  Any real life pet peeves that you're hoping the show will address? My biggest one is people who use the wheelchair ramp as a loading zone and park right in front of it. Usually the medical transport vehicles are the worst offenders. You park to take your child into a doctor's appointment only to find that the ramp is blocked. How difficult is it to pull your car ahead of the ramp so that others can use it while you are helping your passenger exit?  Drives me crazy and I would like to live vicariously through Maya's rant.

  12. We didn't love the pilot and second episode.  They were just fine, not great.  I don't know why I tried again the next week - certainly didn't plan to.  I had to talk hubby into trying the third episode and now we are all in.  I hope some others give it a second glance.  KB has really stepped her game up, and Chidi is a revelation.

  13. "Rubbish" should have tipped them off, but we are talking about a group of guys who didn't know why there was a key lying in front of JJ. I think she was safe!  Actually, I had hoped that Kenneth and she would've shared a wink because he figured it out.

  14. Given their business acumen, I'm guessing they sold their story for a couple of plane tickets and a night at a fancy hotel where she can recover from the trauma of her life.

If I were Candy, I would monogram any gift to the grandchildren (so it couldn't be returned for cash) and make sure any gift I made is only for the grandkids.  "No one has eaten because you can't afford groceries?  I am picking the grandkids up so that they can eat with me.  You two are on your own.  I hear Raman noodles are yummy."  No more freebies for these two.

Once I saw the lineup last night I figured the Sox would lose.

LOL.  When we saw the Indians' lineup for the first game after they clinched, our only question was what Carlos Santana did to annoy Tito because he was the only regular in the game.

  16. I think Kenneth is going to get the training; I assumed the principal was going to blackmail her brother the superintendent to get the funding.

I sense the money aspect of CP will be hand-waved, which isn't realistic but would certainly take some of the laughs out of the show.

I think it's partly a disinclination to form relationships with their patients, which is why they go into a specialty where you fix 'em and dismiss 'em

I had to comment on this because when my mom had heart surgery, the surgeon was one of the best in his field and had a wonderful bedside manner, but even he described himself to her as a bad boyfriend who would basically drop her after the surgery and never contact her again.

Romano on ER was a complex, amazing character perfectly played by Paul McCrane.  He didn't deserve the exit ER gave him, but when they knew what to do with him, he was wonderful.  I don't have high hopes for this show to be able to recreate anyone even close to Romano.
