  1. I’ve just started watching this show. When I watch this type of food competition I’d much rather watch innovation & different techniques than same old stuff like slapping mayo on a turkey.
  2. The reason truffles are the cost as a diamond ring is because they only grow in the wild & are very difficult to find. You can spend hours hunting for one.
  3. Exactly! Gregory looked to be in a lot of pain and didn’t look too upset at being eliminated. I think Melissa won because her dish was different. I was in Verona last October one night we ate in a little hole in the wall. I had the best dish of polenta with mushrooms. So simple but delicious. If you can showcase an ingredient perfectly, you are a true chef. I feel that the truffle was the star of her dish. However, I think she needs to stop with the congee now.
  4. I wish food network Canada would pony up the $$ for a 2 hour finale...sigh
  5. Imrun is very lucky that Jo made a salad again...once they forgave her, a second time - PYKG. Imrun should have gone last week.
  6. More cut scenes! Yes it was a bit to neat. And unrealistic view of miscarriage as well. You don’t just carry on. what annoys me about the cuts is that PBS adds about 10 minutes worth of behind the scenes footage! I’d rather see the cut scenes.
  7. So Imrun who has consistently been in the bottom week after week stays. Xin who has been pretty good is eliminated along with Dominique. Very strange choice, I’d have sent the person (Imrun!) who was in the bottom for the 3rd week in a row home. To bad 2 had to be eliminated.
  8. I thought the same thing. Either the producers insisted the prom party go ahead or else...or Amy is a famewhore. I keep reading her relationship with her parents was difficult - that may have a factor in going ahead with prom. Zach’s shrug of his shoulders at the news of grandmas death tells me she wasn’t all that close to Amy’s kids.
  9. It might be THE last pumpkin season if Caryn gets her way with the vineyard plan.
  10. So as a chef, you don’t know that you must clean all your veggies first? Does this mean Elyce doesn’t clean her veg before cooking & serving them!? Usually raw chicken sends you home, Adrian should be thanking his lucky stars that there is one thing lower than raw chicken...sand as an ingredient.
  11. Oh Aerin, Spring baking show, yes Miami vice colours, blue, peach, yellow...no need to change the decorations...
  12. I felt a bit uncomfortable with the appearance of Mai’s mother. Being of British background the whole British superiority raised its ugly head to me. The questioning of whether Mai’s birth mum could care for her properly despite the fact the woman spoke excellent English, dressed smartly and had a job. The discussion with the adoption lady of “oh but what if Mai goes back to the orphanage” smacked of typical Brit colonialism. I suspect scenes were cut yet again. Why PBS insists on its 60’s nostalgia scenes at the end instead of leaving the scenes in, I don’t know. But the scene of Cyril showing up for Lucille moved my little black heart. Still love this show.
  13. I think Eric was worried about his concept he lost focus on the food.
  14. I really liked Eric. I just wish he kept his concept simple - high end west African food served in formal surroundings...even as a tasting menu. West Africa has vibrant colours that could be used on a mood board. No way would he have been in the bottom 3 for that. Leanne the food network favourite keeps getting away with low level cooking.
  15. Matt mused that Chris had never been married before so this might be an eye opener for him living full time with someone.
  16. Good to see Nils be snarky, but I have a feeling one of the judges didn’t like him. However I would picked the one that had more difficult elements than pickled eggs. Jmo...but they really want a female winner this year.
  17. I agree, at that age all her dad cares about is someone making his meals. Far more important to take Zach & Jer out for a much needed break from their wives and have a nice dinner (& the wives will thank Chris too!). This is the Dad that never had anything nice to say about Amy’s life. In the previews, I see Amy making a snarky comment to Matt & Caryn not to expect a wedding invitation. Edited to add that Zach requested no surprises on TV, and the request not respected by Amy...
  18. Now this the Call the Midwife I know & love...still some cut scenes but much better focussed and glad to see sisters Hilda & Frances having plotlines & sister Hilda being more forward thinking then Nurse Crane in allowing fathers in the delivery room!
  19. As soon as they show the family photo, you know that chef is gone. It was Sean’s second time at the bottom...so no second chance for him.
  20. I think Usman really said “please say yes Mommy, I need the green card”...Mommy shook her head & still said no,
  21. Yay finally some entertainment Lisa in a white hijab with Mother Usman looking on with disapproval
  22. Listen to your friends Erika. They see Stephanie as a miserable bitch looking for more drama. They are right.
  23. Run Erika run, Stephanie is only play acting anyway
  24. At last Valerie showing some chemistry with someone rather than being portrayed as valiant Val. 4 doctors but only 2 had lines...
