  1. I turned it off after the first 10 minutes. Her behavior while just arriving at the new building would have been more appropriate from a 19-20-year-old moving to her first place, rather than a mid-40’s woman. (Or was the character supposed to be much younger than the actress?)
  2. Surely I have misheard the AppleTV announcer - he couldn’t have said twice that the Tigers are too dumb to know they should’nt be there? Why shouldn’t they be there?
  3. An homage to the Little Caesar’s pizza mascot, as the Tigers are owned by the Illitch family.
  4. Tigers did well - took the series from the Red Sox. Only 4.5 games back from the last Wild Card slot. I am not holding my breath, but it beats having no hope whatsoever.
  5. I just checked here yesterday to see if there was any mention of a new season. I guess I won’t be cancelling Netflix for a while.
  6. Not new, but new to me - Faygo Firework soda. It really does taste just like a Bomb Pop popsicle. I loved it. When it was introduced back in ‘21 it became hard to find and was being resold on eBay for ridiculous prices.
  7. Call me a giant skeptic, but I don’t think that flame is real. It isn’t even flickering!
  8. I wonder if anyone has ever compared the speeches Bach has given at each Olympics. I am guessing he just shuffles the paragraphs and changes a few names, dates and locations.
  9. It feels weird to be watching this in the afternoon (here). I feel like everything needs to be shortened or speeded up just a tick. Like Leon Marchand’s walk to/from the flame, for example. Did he have to walk so far/so slowly? I’m not asking for a sprint, just pick up the pace a tiny bit.
  10. I don’t understand the U.S. closing ceremony outfits including jackets. Has there ever been a Summer Olympics closing that was cold enough to need anything warmer than a long-sleeved tee? Especially when you consider the athletes are jammed together on the field.
  11. If you are going to do a split screen, the program should be at least as large as the commercials.
  12. Why is it called 3 ex 3 rather than 3 on 3 or 3 a side? It bugs me, but I don’t know why it does.
  13. I am watching the dressage on Peacock and it sounds like there is a woodpecker somewhere nearby. Is that noise something to do with the competition?
  14. O.k. Now this is cool! But is it going to float/hover for the next 2 weeks?
  15. All of the masked/hooded people remind me too much of the Death Eaters from Harry Potter. Takes me right out of the moment Is this the part where the Olympic flag is usually brought in by past Olympians, or is that later?
  16. I wonder if tonight’s rebroadcast will offer more context to what we are seeing?
  17. Is the masked torch bearer some famous French character that I know nothing about? (From a book/play/opera/painting/movie?)
  18. Does it make me sound stupid if I say I don’t get it? I mean, some of it is cool, but I am confused. I don’t think having so many taped segments helps at all.
  19. With the price of snack foods through the roof, I have taken to making popcorn from scratch. Does anyone have a favorite brand/type of popcorn kernels? I have been buying Amish Country medium white hull-less.
  20. I don’t know who should be more worried, MLB, Comcast or Bally, but I don’t miss watching baseball as much as I thought I would. However, it seems like neither Bally nor Comcast are worried enough to actually do anything to end their dispute. I guess neither side is losing enough money to care.
  21. I haven’t tried it with Kanopy, but I use both mine and my mother’s library cards on Hoopla. I just log out of one and in with the other. I would think there must be a way to log out of your Kanopy account. Spouses and kids should be able to have separate accounts.
  22. Maybe they could just write stories about people who are over 40? My hunch is their audience skews over 40, so why not play to it? You can be over 40 and move back to your hometown and buy a diner and rekindle a relationship with your old boyfriend. The only difference is you are more likely to be divorced (gasp) and have surly teenaged kids who don’t immediately love their new potential stepparent. And it would make more sense for a 70-something parent to need your help to run the diner (farm, orchard, etc.) than a healthy, vibrant mid-50’s parent. Maybe I am wrong and Hallmark is raking in the under 30 audience?
  23. If you mean Hallmark Stores, I live near Grand Rapids and there are 13 stores within 50 miles of me; 3 within less than 5 miles. They are usually fairly busy. But the floor space dedicated to cards keeps getting smaller. I think of them more as gift shops than card stores.
  24. My hunch is that Hallmark knows many of the people watching their movies are not sitting on the couch with their eyes glued to the tv, so subtitles wouldn’t be seen/read. I know I am usually also reading, scrolling, playing a game, etc., while half watching the movie.
  25. I had a second cup of Dole Whip tonight (it was too damned expensive to throw away) and it is almost bitter, rather than sour. And it has a strange mouth-feel. Greasy/oily, maybe? I am guessing the coconut oil is responsible for the unpleasant texture.
