At some point it needs to be brought up.  Because it's the question I think everyone wants to know the answer to.

I think she did answer it. She's an idealistic  Republican and was from an early age. The fascinating part of her story is how she barely escaped the rot at the top with her integrity (mostly) intact.

Rachel is usually respectful to her Republican guests. I might roll my eyes a bit at times but civility matters.

  2. Actors can appear on talk shows as long as they don't plug projects that are struck or that were for the big studios, right? But Real Time is usually heavy on writers, journalists and politicians. I don't know if the tv journalists are connected to SAG-AFTRA but I imagine the rest will probably come back. Especially his conservative pals, so they can pat him on the back for at least trying to get out from under the yoke of that awful union tyranny. /s

    I miss having an audience.

I feel like they found a decent balance with the pods so I was good either way.

Yes, having an audience will be weird.  I wonder if LMAD is going back to a full audience as well.

LMAD really needs the audience, imo. The contestants all seem like wannabe actors or influencers and the remote players always seemed like an afterthought.

A normal studio audience makes the shows accessible. In a "that could be us and maybe we should go to Cali on our next vacation" kind of way.

Yeah, I was shocked to read about that.  I wonder what caused his death?

Billy Miller suffered from bipolar disease and severe depression, which ended in suicide. I don't think many people knew of his struggles.

How does she have no money?  Dickolas is a very wealthy man, and I’m pretty sure NY family law statutes probably entitle her to substantial child support.  Like well into six figures based on his wealth.  Prior to that she should be getting lefty of state assistance.  Unless none of that exists in the tiny, tiny nonsensical pocket universe that PC inhabits.

Esme also supposedly has a trust fund from her adoptive parents, which she oddly has no access to.

Any soap needs some characters that  have few resources but Esme's finances are just lazy writing.

don’t know if I agree with that. It gets ignored now because we supposed to think Micheal is the golden child but he had a traumatic upbringing.

The exception that proves the rule? 🙂

You're right, of course. But I think overall, if I had to be a soap kid, I'd want to have villain parents. Even if you are just a trophy.

When Charlotte and Val were at the tea place the other day and he promised they would spend more time together, Charlotte made a point to say "JUST the two of us, Papa." I actually think it would make a good story, as some of these adults have zero regard for what their illegal/violent/repulsive behavior is modeling for their kids. Hopefully it would make Valentin take a good look at himself. (Sonny, Carly, Ava, Nik, Michael, etc. should do the same.) Maybe if Valentin leaves Anna to focus on Charlotte, Anna will get her mojo back and stop crying all the time.

I don't think the adult misbehavior is necessarily a problem with their kids, at least when they are younger. With the exception of Michael's first year, Carly has actually been a pretty good mom. (It hurts me to say anything nice about Carly, you guys.) Sonny, too, for the most part. Valentin was a better father when he was a bad guy.

It's the good guys that join the WSB or get kidnapped or put into comas. Or dedicate their lives to healing other people's woes while ignoring the ones at home. Abandonment is a pervasive issue.

Most soap kids should be in therapy.

That was me. Whoever it is, it's one of the characters who died or is presumed dead.

I thought Victor might be a possibility but the mirror and paint doesn't seem like his style. Although he does have minions.  🤷‍♀️

    I still think it's Charlotte!

After the way they were looking at the video footage, I think so too. Because she's the only person Valentin and Nina would both cover for.

And because I'm in denial about that other person being a possibility.

The idea that Freddy (who we knew from birth to age fourteen) becomes a strapping firefighter who drinks scotch out of a plastic jug is gonna take a while for me to accept. I know that Frasier is built around a fraught but funny father-son relationship, but it really would have made much more sense to me if David were the next-gen Crane boy to go into a physically demanding, blue-collar job.

Freddie leaning in to the blue collar side of the Crane family seems like a perfect way to rebel against Frasier and Lilith. (At least on paper.) And I bet Martin would have encouraged him.

My main problem with the clips so far is that KG doesn't really seem like he's quite recaptured Frasier. Of course, it could be that the character is trying too hard because of his son but I don't hear classic Frasier yet.

But I do think a legitimate argument could be made for the continued employment of all the non-writers who are out of work because of this damn strike.

Aren't most of the crew jobs, like camera people, directors, etc also unionized jobs? That's awkward, asking them to cross a picket line. Even if they want to get back to work. (Though I do understand the trickle down effect for caterers and local businesses. )

I think it's a mistake for Bill to go out there and wing it. He's so out of touch anyway, this will just shine a spotlight on it. Without writers his default state is petulant geezer. (Which I can say, since I'm about the same age.)

  11. I liked the Blair and Tracy scenes even though the dialog was a bit clunky. They should know better though, I can't see either Martin or Lucy forgoing 50k a month for holy matrimony.  Blair would have more luck just taking Deception away and then dangling it as payment to Lucy if she got Martin to marry her.

I had some stuff to say about the stupidity of the prison scenes but now I'll just say this - with Billy Miller's passing, it will be even harder to watch CM as Drew.

  12. As much as I love Frasier, the clips are iffy. Though I did smile at Freddie's gf saying he smelled good, so maybe there's hope.  And I thought I read somewhere that James Burrows is directing the first episode,  another tiny hopeful sign. We'll see in a few weeks.

They did do development and testing though. That's the information that Brook Lynn stole for Tracy.

Again it doesn't make sense. Tracy and (presumably) ex wife #3 could have sued Deception just for marketing the Deceptor if someone else held the patent. The fact that there is development data is a point in Deception's favour, not Tracy's.

Maybe they plan on using the real development artifacts to fake their own? 🤷‍♀️

Honestly, I would be okay with Lucy and the others losing half of Deception and having to scramble a bit. When characters have too much money their storylines get even more far-fetched.

Not if they filed and own the patent. Martin stole the idea, gave it to Lucy who ran with it, while someone else already owned the rights to it.

I expect the writers will handle patent law just as well as their other legal stories. 🤮

We've now learned that Tracy is pursuing the Deceptor case for control of ELQ. I wonder if Martin's ex will be going after him for his part in it to save 50k/mo in alimony?

But if they are going to do a crossover, I wonder why they have also mentioned Erica Kane from AMC, frequently?

I think she was a red herring, which made sense considering that Lucy and Felicia followed clues to Pine Valley and Jackson Montgomery.

This didn't make sense to me. Lucy has done nothing but yowl that her company is her whole life, and she just throws away a 49% share of it to settle the lawsuit, in which she could lose it all, to retain a 1% share of Tracy's family's company. Any guesses as to who Tracy's phone pal is?

I can believe it, Lucy and Tracy have decades worth of issues between them. Maybe once she has a chance to think about it more clearly.

    And...

    Spoiler

Spoilers say Tracy's friend is Martin's ex-wife and OLTL character Blair Cramer. Since she is supposed to visit on the 15th we won't have long to wait.

  17. Today was nice and soapy. In fact, the only thing I didn't enjoy was that that awful thing Jordan was wearing.

I had a real "duh" moment when Tracy offered Lucy more of her company in return for Lucy's 1% of ELQ. Of course Tracy would do anything for control of ELQ.  Nicely played.
