  1. I hadn't heard of Ellen Holly's passing until today. I'm sorry she didn't have the best experience on OLTL but she was amazing to watch. I was pretty young but remember so clearly the reveal that Carla was Sadie's daughter and then was a Carla/Ed shipper before I knew what shipping was. 🙂 It was all riveting.  At the time I didn't understand the complexity of the race aspect of the story but I understood that these were amazing actors.

  2. I like the long opens too, though some go on way too long even for me. But then I'm ADD, so meandering is my default mode. 🙂

Likely UO: There were a few interesting things in the Cheney interview but nothing that earthshattering (imo).

The fact that it fell a little flat for me is probably my fault. I appreciate the principled stand she took, the bts insights, etc but will her story inspire anyone else to do the right thing? 🤷‍♀️

Eta: Liz Cheney's book is selling out in most places in my midwestern city. Who knew?

  3. Normally Rachel's appearance on the WiTHpod should be put in her personal thread but it really was like a combined episode of both shows.

Considering that Rachel comes up in most people's lists of partisan media, I found her comments towards the end moving and a tad alarming. Mend relationships, hang out with people no matter their political beliefs, get out and do real things (paraphrasing). I get the impression she really thinks - based on patterns she found in her research - that things are going to get worse before they get better. (I might be reading more into what she said and I should probably watch the video on Peacock to see the body language. I just caught the audio in my podcast feed.) But it's good advice anyway.

Okay, if things at GH are worse than they are at DOOL, then things must be really awful.  Because DOOL is truly awful.  I can say, with all honesty, that Y&R isn't that bad.

But, we all choose our poison,

I really hope you stick around!

(ETA - I've never been able to tolerate GH for more than a few weeks, due to MB and whatever horror it is that plays Carly, so I don't have a clue what is currently dragging that show down into the pits of daytime hell.)

MB was actually pretty tolerable the last few years once they hooked him up with Nina but yeah, anything Carly related can be rage-inducing. And GH is probably technically better than Days but I'm more irritated with them at the moment.

It was so nice to see the various families interacting. The dialog is decent, too. The only thing that I was iffy on was Trevor St. John but then I never cared about Tucker, so it's fine.

I know MTS gets grief for drunk Nikki but I thought she was pretty good yesterday. It's brave to let an actress look that awful. The last time I checked in, Nikki was just swanning around imperiously. I don't even remember what the story was.

I'm definitely going to stick around for awhile.

tessaray, I don't know if you'll still feel like this is Masterpiece Theater after a few weeks, but here goes...

Well, I don't think GH's issues will be solved anytime soon and Days is almost as bad, so there isn't much competition.  🙂

It's funny, Victoria and Cole were together (and then not) during one of my longer Y&R stints. So the timing works for coming back now.

  6. It's been years since I've watched Y&R for more than a few days but decided to watch yesterday. It felt like Masterpiece Theater next to GH, so I may stick around for awhile this time. I do have a couple of questions...

Who is Nate?  Devon and Abby, when did that happen? And Phyllis was presumed dead, right? Does everyone know she is alive now?

I kinda like that there is a mystery going on. Is there anything I need to know about this Clair person?

  7. In my mind, Mozzie and Gina are living off-grid on the West Coast with no way to be contacted.

Honestly though, White Collar had one of the best endings of any TV show and it would have to be a brilliant script to make it worth doing.

Something changed I point more to season eight. It was really off the rails. It's like they suddenly wanted a grittier show. We got stuck with Hayley who I hated and had no purpose except to be a bitch to Castle and show how great she was, Alexis who was suddenly an expert PI and better then Castle (and what happen her going to college), the stupid Lokset and splitting up Beckett and Castle. I rarely watch season eight because I hate it so much.

While I think some of it started earlier than S8, I agree.

Also, I kept expecting them to reveal that Hayley's father was super spy James Brolin. 🙂  (When someone really makes no sense as a character, you come up with your own explanations.)  No offense to Toks, who is very attractive and a competent actor but after a few episodes I wished Kelly Nieman was still lurking out there.

Ok, it took me twenty minutes to figure out the connection to Nelle.  It's much easier to connect to Nina, as she's Wylie's grandmother and James' aunt.

I thought they were raised together but that Nina was Nathan's cousin, as Liesel and Madeline are sisters? Or did Nina's father cheat with Liesel? I must have missed that, if so. I was only watching sporadically back then and missed 80% of Nathan's time on the show.

I'm actually confused on level of cousins James and Wylie are

If Nina and Nathan were just cousins, then Nelle and James would be second cousins, making Wylie James' second cousin once removed. If Nina and Nathan were bio  siblings, then Wylie and James would also  be first cousins once removed.

  10. The scene with Nina blasting Michael with why she turned Carly in was pretty good, though awkwardly written at the end. Drew chose to go to Pentonville rather than keep fighting after his deal was overturned. That's not on Nina. It's on Carly for letting him take the fall for her arrogant stupidity.
