am not justifying at all what she did to Sasha in the end but my mind cannon will forever be a lot of this was addiction-fueled - not malicious wanting to hurt Sasha fueled. so I'll always feel.. sympathy to Gladys for lack of a better word

I had a smidgen of sympathy for Gladys in the beginning. She was clearly targeted at a low point in her life but once she let Sasha get tortured time and time again, with only token protests, she became just as vile as Selena and Dr. Montague. She left Sasha alone, imprisoned, mentally anguished and unstable - not to mention in mortal danger just so she wouldn't have to come clean to Sonny. Ugh. No amount of monetary restitution could help rehabilitate her.

I suppose Sasha, an addict herself, might forgive Gladys someday but after having to watch all that, I won't.

  2. I have been creating topics until recently. Real life has put Real Time at the bottom of my list of priorities. (I am not the Real Time mod.)

Technically any user can create an episode topic, though if someone does it here please pay attention to the existing format.  Also, while anything discussed on the episodes can be mentioned here, all the Primetimer forum rules still apply. So tread carefully with political topics - digressing into personal politics is still not allowed. 🙂

  3. I'm glad that Kevin had Esme's back with Ace's doctor appointment.  It was the right thing to do for both Spencer and Esme.  And it's easier to imagine them developing a relationship,  even if we never get to see it onscreen.  Kevin is the only normal family member she has besides Ace and maybe someday Steven Lars. And Kevin hasn't been doing much besides holding Laura's pocketbook. 🙂

I'm so over this stupid 'get out of jail free' card they're making up out of thin air for Drew.  So now the judge has to be correct/in a billionaire's pocket.

Half points for trying (lamely) to tie into current events?

It's hard to remember that this nonsense all started with Michael and Drew stupidly trying to merge Aurora and ELQ so they could oust Valentin as CEO.

Ordinarily I'd say the writers should just give up on writing business/legal stories if they can't be bothered to watch half an hour of CNBC or do the occasional Google search but then all we'd be left with would be babies, illnesses (which they also rarely bother Googling past the first few paragraphs) and the biannual paternity shuffle.

To be fair, they did okay with Leo's story and have finally delivered on Sprina. They brought back Tracy and I'm mildly interested in where mini-psycho Charlotte's story goes. So there's that?

I love the way Cyrus talks though. So articulate and commanding!

Jeff Kober is a very talented actor. Cyrus, otoh is an awful character. But then I loathe bad guys with mommy issues. Or tbf, daddy issues. (Sonny, several decades worth. Ugh.)

Laura struck out with her pair of bio-brothers.

  6. Cyrus was lurking in the hospital corridors when I came off the barge a couple of years ago and now he's back. I didn't miss him roaming around threatening people. (I do miss the pony tail and scruff.) And wimpy cringing doesn't suit RoHo. Two thumbs down for this development.

And can I borrow a couple of thumbs down for Mason still being alive? I really wanted Ava to grab Dante's gun and finish him off. 🙂

  7. Frasier and Sam had their own relationship, though it started out with Diane in the middle. It was an unlikely friendship but seemed genuine enough. (Like comrades bonding after a war? 🙂)

Sam's visit to Seattle was much different than Woody's. There was real pleasure on Frasier's part, at least.

Eta:  Forgot to add that while I would love to see a Cheers visit if this version has multiple seasons, I don't expect it.

acting)...but he worked a lot better than I expected. There were times when he and Kelsey were in the same shot, or it was switching between them, and I could see a believable resemblance that made it possible to buy him as Frasier's son (if not the son we remember...). He still needs more of a distinctive personality--the original Frasier pilot is one I rewatch frequently, and the way the characters are clearly defined within their first appearances is one of the masterstrokes of that episode--and the fact that this episode doesn't do that, mostly with him and the psychology chair, is one reason it falls short. But the actor is likeable enough that I enjoyed watching this Freddy interacting with Frasier, and can imagine wanting to continue to do so.

It's funny, I didn't really see any resemblance between them but as I was watching it occurred to me that I could see him as Lilith's son. 🙂

  9. Okay, they made me cry.

I'd give it a C- overall. The character of David is a major fail imo. Urkel-lite is the kindest way to describe him. I read they were comparing him to Sheldon Cooper but no.

I'll keep watching, hoping it improves.

Sonny and Sasha bonding always scares me into thinking she will end up pregnant by him.

Eww. And here I was thinking of Sonny and Nina as Sasha's parental figures.

Does anyone want more babies for Sonny?

I'm sorry to see Gladys go, if she's gone.  The character was entertaining.  I don't really think that Gladys is irredeemable or anything like that.  I'm sure Sasha would be angry with her for a while, but then eventually come around.

I was surprised how reprehensible they made Gladys after mostly redeeming her via her support for Sasha after Liam and Brando. If they had stopped with just the stealing, maybe but the drugging and commitment to Ferncliff... ugh.

I wouldn't mind some ongoing scenes with Sonny and Sasha bonding over how awful gambling addiction is.

I’m not sure what to think about this running theme about people not believing that Chase can handle bad news so they keep it from him until he finds out in the worst possible way.

Right? Chase is a cop (they see the worst of the worst), not a delicate flower.

That's why I didn't think the last Molly was a bad fit.  HP will always be Molly to me, but that's not an option.  I haven't seen the new new new one yet.  I guess she was on one of the days I missed last week.

I saw the latest one in a drug commercial the same day.  Kristen Vaganos is her name.  (I plucked this picture from the Soap Opera Digest site because she's smiling. The pensive brunettes all look alike to me.)

I think that’s what turned people off more than the actors age. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me! I also didn’t think she was very good.

Tbh, Haley's voice often grated too but because we saw Molly grow up onscreen (more or less), she had a lot of goodwill to balance it out.  The earlier Molly recasts were not good fits in multiple ways. The latest seems fine so far.

As for the Kristina situation, Kate Mansi is much better than I expected but I do miss Lexi's liveliness.

As much as I despise pregnancies, a Trina/Spencer baby has some genuine dramatic possibilities if the show wants to mine them. (Ha! As if!)

As a Nik/Gia fan from back in the day, this might be interesting. (They were such a pretty couple.) But I'm not sure I could handle watching Grandma Portia.

  16. This show gives me a headache. Bill was in rare form (for him), delivering some genuinely funny lines and actually pushing back against DeSantis and Ham a bit but good Lord, I just can't deal with the anti-vax stuff.

Eta: I wonder if these guests were the same ones he would have had if he had come back without writers. A whole hour of just the panelists would have been a disaster imo.

  17. I am pro labor so it pains me to agree that I'd rather keep the current writers. Let's hope the WGA writers have been watching the show and taking some notes. (j/k, you know the old writers can't possibly watch the show, considering how crappy the normal writing usually* was.)

    * added because they did occasionally let the Awesome Writer out.

At some point it needs to be brought up.  Because it's the question I think everyone wants to know the answer to.

I think she did answer it. She's an idealistic  Republican and was from an early age. The fascinating part of her story is how she barely escaped the rot at the top with her integrity (mostly) intact.

Rachel is usually respectful to her Republican guests. I might roll my eyes a bit at times but civility matters.

  19. Actors can appear on talk shows as long as they don't plug projects that are struck or that were for the big studios, right? But Real Time is usually heavy on writers, journalists and politicians. I don't know if the tv journalists are connected to SAG-AFTRA but I imagine the rest will probably come back. Especially his conservative pals, so they can pat him on the back for at least trying to get out from under the yoke of that awful union tyranny. /s
