  1. I'm just now looking at Lauren's wedding pictures. I've never like her but I think she looks so happy and I love her dress.
  2. I have a relative who took Ambien while at the beach to get high and when she came to she was in her car in a mall parking lot 10 miles away. She had driven from La Jolla to Mission Valley, which requires traversing a major freeway interchange in the middle of a weekday. No memory of it whatsoever. Scared the crap out of her. She never took it again. Having said that, I think it was suicide and, IMHO, like a lot of suicides, incredibly selfish.
  3. Well, I went to Hemet today to see my cousin but we didnt drive over to Gold Base because of the rain. However, there is a much better way to see what it looks like. I don't know how to link but if you go to Youtube and type in "gold base", one of the first choices you get is a film taken by a drone camera. It's a few minutes long and flies slowly over the entire base and gives a very good view. If you're looking for "The Hole" at some point you will see two large square buildings with white roofs stuck together. It's pretty unmistakable because the drone flies right over them. One thing you won't see is a human.
  4. Int Base, NEAR Hemet, lol, is on both sides of the road you take to get to it. It used to be that a person would have to go out the gate and cross the road to get to the other side, where LRH's mansion awaits his return, Kool cigarettes and all. The problem was that people were escaping that way. Now there's a tunnel under the road so that a person never is off "church" property. I'm driving up to see my cousin tomorrow and I'm sure we will be checking out the place again, because it drives us nuts that we never see anyone there. My cousin wants to go right up to the guardhouse and see if anyone is in it. I'll let you know if anything happens. Note my name. If you don't hear from me for a while I may be one of them, one of them, one of them.
  5. I've been to Int Base, right outside of Hemet, in San Jacinto. My cousin lives up there. We drive by the guardhouse front gate all the time. We have even stopped and pretended we were having car trouble. The place always looks deserted. I've been by five or six times and have never seen anyone anywhere. And my cousin has gotten herself obsessed so she drives by there all the time and reports she never sees anyone. The front gate is always closed. It all looks well taken care of but you never see anyone doing anything.
  6. Does anyone have any specific information about Marty Rathbun going back to the "church", are there news sites that have reported on this?
  7. Allie's dress reminded me of something Lucy wore on "I Love Lucy." And the neoprene jumpsuit made me think of Eddie Murphy being Gumby on SNL. And Hawwaa's dress looks like a dress my aunt wore to school in 1969 and that she kept all this time. Very colorful and pretty. I liked almost everything this week. That never happens on regular Project Runway.
  8. The winning look reminded me of the terra cotta warriors found buried in China.
  9. My grandma bought Scientology books sometime in the '70s, before I was born, but never read them. She lives in the same house as she did then and still gets stuff in the mail.
  10. I wasn't sure who Geoffrey Lewis is so I looked him up and he's Charlene's dad. (Designing Women) That's what I think of whenever I see him on something.
  11. One of the former scientologists named Tom Devogt (or something like that) said when he got beat up he knew he couldn't fight back because there was almost always someone else around and he feared people would come to Miscaviges' rescue and he (Tom) would get beat up even worse. Everybody, all the men who got beat up, knew that if they fought back, they would be attacked and then definitely sent to the Hole. I read that Shelley Miscavige always had a small first aid kit with her in case it was needed. Be prepared!
  12. I read Mark Headley's book a while back and just re-read it recently. It's not very well written but what he writes about is really interesting. He talks about the events and how last minute everything always was and how they set up the cameras so it always looked like there were a lot of people. When Miscavige told him a event was going to be at the L.A. Colosseum, he freaked because it was way bigger than where they normally held events and it was going to be tough to fill it up. Good camera work and paid actors to fill in the crowds helped. His story about his escape was interesting too. He managed to get out of Int Base on his motorcycle and was edged off the road as he said in the program tonight, and someone called 911. When the police came they ended up escorting him to Hemet and would not leave him until he was out of town in a U-Haul. The officers didn't come right out and say why, they just wouldn't leave him until they were sure he was safe. Being that the only way out of the base is through Hemet, I'm sure the officers were totally aware of attempted escapes. I've been up there, it really is in the middle of nowhere. The other thing is the abortions. I remember thinking "Well, just don't get pregnant" when I was first reading about them. But the thing is, you have pay for birth control yourself and when you get paid as little as they did there's no money for "extras" and nobody's going to let you off base to go to Planned Parenthood. It's all about control.
  13. I loved Leeann's final collection, because of her colors. She also had a blue formal gown that in addition to her wedding dress, was absolute gorgeous, my favorite dress of all the seasons.
  14. I remember Santino's home visit. He took Tim to his married friend's house and while Santino was sitting on the floor talking, the friend's two toddler-type daughters were climbing all over him, they were so comfortable with him and he with them. I thought " Maybe he's not so bad, after all" because even though he was funny, I found it hard to like him after he lied in regard to Kara.
  15. I just started reading a book called Violins of Hope about the Holocaust and just ran across this in the first chapter: "Immediately after Adolph Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany on January 30, 1933, he and his Nazi party initiated an agenda to rid Germany of the Jewish influences that they blamed for the country's downfall." Sound familiar?
  16. Awe, I like Zendaya! I think she's pretty talented, I loved watching her on DWTS, and I guess she sings, too. I just think she's really cute. My mother and I have been watching the show together since Season 1. My mother has the worst taste in clothes. If she loves it, I hate it. And I knew Erin was going to win because mom is a crafter and loved her stuff.
  17. She couldn't understand David Miscavige because he was talking too fast and he has kind of a lisp, and he had to repeat stuff for her, and he got really ticked off about it and days later she was gone.
  18. I love Laura's short, beaded evening wear.
  19. Wasn't there a season where the judge's hated what they saw in the mini-collections and sent them back to Mood?
  20. I know why the Orange one doesn't do press conferences. He can't! Just picture him being asked questions and having to explain himself and how will he get out of answering when he doesn't want to and doesn't have his precious twitter. Do you think hell be banning press he's angry with when he's president? Can he do that? Can he just say no to press conferences the way he has been? What if he thinks he can? Do we have any recourse?
  21. My grandma bought some dianetics books back in the '70s, I'm sure she was pressured into it, she's not a "serious" reader so she probably took one good look and gave it up. It's been over 40 years and she still gets stuff in the mail from them. I want to call them and say she's 90 years old and poor as fuck, you don't want her, leave her alone and I would but she doesn't really know what's going on anyway. But they are persistent. Edited because dianetics and diabetics are two unpleasant but very different things.(thanks, duke2801), I need to proofread better!)
  22. I don't want to go overboard but it just seems like we're on a really slippery slope kind of like when Hitler won the election for Chancellor in 1933 and started building up the restrictions against Jews so that by 1940 he had everything in place to really start rounding them up. It took most people a while to figure out just how evil his policies were and it frightens me to think that's where we are headed.
  23. When I get down, and it happens more often than I care to think, I watch Robin Williams on YouTube. I hate what happened to him but it's impossible for me to watch him more than five minutes without laughing out loud. Always makes me feel better.
