  1. and just to check my hearing, did Sugar refer the shrimps as 'skrimps'? I could swear I heard her say that. more annoying little tidbits. yeah its kinda sad when the top two are just assembling dishes rather than making them. i suppose senoreatas did their salsas and maybe the sauces, but i'm thinking the Cheeses just assembled plates and made ZERO, pasta or sauces or otherwise. exactly. unless you are completely out in the sticks and there are NO other options available, i'd never wait that long. heck if a fast food line makes me sit still longer than 5 minutes (eyeing you Mickey Ds), I'm bailing on the line and going somewhere else. my time is valuable, and you call yourself FAST food, so dangit it better come fast. i don't expect haute cuisine, but I expect expediency.
  2. well i wasn't planning on watching the finale, but after reading here and seeing Sugar and her team lose made me come back. i'm not a big fan of senoreatas either - it feels like each challenge, they bent the rules and just made whatever they wanted (for which I think there should be penalties.) i don't care for pepper challenges, they are so subjective depending on the eater. it's almost like you have to err on the lesser is better side, otherwise risk blowing out your diner's palate. then you get dinged for not spicy enough. LETS PLEASE ADD 'NO SELLING UNTIL THE PREP IS DONE' AS A RULE. these wait times p*ss me off - it's bad tv, i don't wanna watch people just standing around and complaining. oh and sugar, a 30 second standing in place flapping around is NOT a song and dance, so stop selling it as that. it's just a yell and wave.
  3. good epi, tho i can't agree with using children as a means to an end - I would give Haveena more credit intelligence-wise than to go down this path. BUT then again that's a human belief (and maybe just my own), so maybe the Moclans think otherwise. Great epi for Bortus and Klyden, really well done guys.
  4. Agreed. Even if they are both gay, it doesn't mean something has to happen. I talk to my gay and straight friends like Gus talked - it's not flirtatious, it's being friendly and open. I think more is being read into that talk than was intended. Just my opinion.
  5. I think Gus doesn't have much of a social life, so hitting the restaurant/bar is his little celebration for getting the North territory and NOT being discovered by Don Eladio. And for sticking it to Hector. I think Rhea has Skylar syndrome - the actress is good, but the characters are written dislikable enough we can't separate the character. Raymond Cruz is a really good actor - he's done some notable films. But his Tuco is so despicable sometimes you just hate the guy.
  6. I always wonder how far you can bend the rules of the challenge. For Senoreatas, there are veggie dogs, or heck if you're all that as a chef figure out how to make a veggie dog yourself. Other chefs make their own sausage. The tacos seemed like an easy out for them.
  7. helluva episode, this one. eta: according to IMDB, the opening song is: Perfect Day Performed by Dresage X Valente Bertelli (as Slow Shiver) i would absolutely watch a show with Giancarlo E just having wines and talking about whatever comes into his head. Like a Dinner for Five version 2.0 with him as host. Tho the sommelier was being a bit too chatty, you can tell if someone wants to chat by the feedback. If they go all quiet, you've overstepped. that poolside scene....man great edge of your seat stuff. and gus just plays it cool as a cucumber. you know he was thinking of his partner when we got the shot of him looking down into the pool That cross examination by Howard's wife at the memorial. TENSE. i was so uncomfortable. The camera pullback through all the people was interesting. With all that is invested in Kim's time, I'd just have taken a break and not practiced for awhile, rather than submitting a resignation to the board. Does anyone know, can you reapply if you resign? Jimmy and his mansion, man living large my friend. I wonder if that fills the hole in your soul. Mike giving closure to Nacho's dad, that was a nice moment even tho it didn't please his father. That shot in the parking garage was nicely lit, and I wonder if that is the point Kim has already decided she's leaving practice.
  8. Yeah, I think Charly is the helmsperson (like Sulu was in TOS.) So no problem with her sitting in the staff meetings - I'd pull as much as the bridge crew as I could, for the additional input.
  9. i wonder what vince gilligan's next project will be? hopefully we won't have to wait too long after BCS wraps up.
  10. I think Kim is going to leave Jimmy and move away to be alone.
  11. i have to agree, tho i have to shame the show also. just give proper heat fighting gear up front, besides drama what is the point??? G DAMN producers, stop putting up health against ratings.
  12. amen to xaxat. no genius, just appeal to the base of all of us.
  13. GREAT point. we feed based on convenience, so if a food truck is nearby, i'm so likely to hit it. BUT...reality is uber and doordash. i'm likely to hit those unless the food truck is killer. i prefer hitting food trucks, as i'm the mentality support the locality food scene. BUT doordash is still local stuff, so there's that.
  14. an interesting twist, tho a logistical nightmare - if a buyer tosses your dish rather than finishing, that gets deducted from your sales. that'd take care of the mac shenanigans. that and the whole concept - yes mac n cheese fine. i can see a line based on pasta but not solely mac n cheese, that is wayyyyyyyyy too narrow. but then again, bbq does that all the time, so who am i to say?
  15. ah thanks, I missed the Jimmy seeing the fridge part scene. interesting all the suicide talk. so question, in cases where it appears a person offed themself at sea (say coked up and walked out into the ocean), what steps are taken? is there any bother searching in the water, other than keeping an eye on the shoreline to see if they wash up? i know for lakes/ponds they dive to search for bodies. and a darkly morbid thought came to me on the opening shot of the beach - the best way to dispose of a body, rent a small plane and pilot (or boat), have him/her fly you out over the ocean, drop the body a few miles offshore. no chance of recovery and no chance of being dug up. no worrying about wiping down the body and removing personal items. AND said procedure can be used over and over again. (NO i am not a Dexter.)
  16. Exactly. Mike is deliberately cryptic, as the less detail he gives, the more protection for him should Jimmy or anyone else rat out the situation. Good episode, tho yeah Gus' psychic abilities on knowing that Lalo would want a tour of the lab is a little too convenient plot-wise IMO. If I'm a hit-man, as soon as I have Gus in that fan hallway and I've got a bead on his skull, he's gone. Get in, do it, get out. Gloating and disclosing your plan always seems to be the downfall of the bad guys. Ok, someone help me here - I missed why the fridge had to be replaced? If it was prints or something they could've just sterilized the old one.
  17. Ya gotta wonder if the teams told the customers it'll be 45+ minutes, or just said they'll be a wait. As a customer, no way I'm waiting that long - a food truck I'll give maybe 15 minutes if they are busy. Beyond that, forget it. Heck I get antsy waiting more than half an hour in a real restaurant, and if i have to wait that long, I expect a side or dessert or drink comped for the trouble. (I'm not an ass to the wait staff as I know it's not them its always the kitchen, I'm polite but explain my time is worth something so I expect some kind of compensation. I do still tip, I know wait staff mostly lives off those.) I like it when GFTR goes to cities we're not all familiar with - I like seeing the different cultures and heck just seeing the different architecture is interesting. What are some places you'd like to see them go? Durango CO would be interesting - not a huge town but a great tourist attraction. Heck if you wanna stay west coast, go up to Oregon and Washington state, see what they are like. I'm tired of the beach stuff personally.
  18. Not to mention, she said what, 3 girdles and spanx?? My god I'd be a sweating nightmare.
  19. oh lord, dunes. more of Cali. I was hoping they'd get to drive the buggies, not the downhill sled. and please give the teams wet towels and misters to stay cool in those trucks. mabye just me, but i don't want mac n cheese on a BLT - part of the charm of the BLT is the crunch, and I feel the mac would sog it down. amawele making fry bread, awesome!!! and hard to do. I haven't tried a plantain, but senoritas sammich looked interesting. plantains are like a banana but not sweet I'm guessing?? I would order several of the lobster ravioli sammiches ESO made, that looked tasty. and aioli on anything is gonna be good in my book. this has definitely been the season of slanting to help one team in particular, and I don't like it. no favoritism.
  20. eh, ok episode. i hate the time ones, because it opens the can of worms of 'well now we can just go back and fix everything' tropes. huge mcguffin. nice seeing the actor playing isaac. charley still annoying, past or present. lol at bortus trying to smile, that was hysterical. grimes doing great, he is a killer actor. buying all his emotions.
  21. well contrary to posts here, i didn't mind the remake. i do have an issue with future pike interacting with current pike - unless it's all in his head, how the heck does this work? crossing time lines is just a mcguffin we can do now?? weak.
  22. agreed, i give no creedence to these judges. criminy you had Tim Love judging beef in an earlier season episode, and now we're down to no names? get a name in there as an authority, not jim bob up the street.
  23. i like mac n cheese, but i hardly think it's food truck worthy. a cafeteria yes, i would not go to a food truck for that. i expect something a BIT out of the ordinary at least. locally cupbop, does amazing korean style bowls. or the artisian italian.
  24. i think they may be blindsided with the next location, so as to prevent this researching ahead. otherwise yes, this is the obvious thing to do. maybe the next location is recorded the same time as when they set out, day one? a fun thing to do would be take away the social media, and just make em street hustle sales. THAT is old school.
