  1. I think she decided at a young age that she wanted to be a journalist, so she never bothered to consider what other options she might be better suited for. Goes along with the commentary on her passive personality. "Well, I said I'll be this, so I'll just be that" and then she quits at the first sign of difficulty. She can't think for herself that there might be a better future for her.
  2. Hear, hear! Jess wasn't good for Rory at all. And when someone (Rory?) brought up the kinds of things he did before they were together, he even admitted that he didn't have to do them anymore because he "got" her. So disgusting. And the way he always left her hanging, despite making plans, resonates with me as an ex used to do that to me all the time. Totally selfish and self-serving, with no regard for the feelings of the other person. So to say that Jess cares about Rory just isn't true, or he wouldn't torture her like that.
  3. I echo what you're all saying. How did the guy swinging the log around, turning Howie and Heidi into a helicopter, get sent home, but the Most Annoying Twins In The World (not to mention seriously creepy!) got put through!? I'm glad that the mentalist was sent to live rounds. I'd love to know how he's performing some of those tricks! Also curious how the card-trick magician did his thing with the book and the card -- and disappointed we get more kid singers, and fewer people who have actually learned and perfected a craft. It would have been nice to see some of the more interesting acts they determined were only worthy of being montaged. With all the singing competitions on TV (and how many of these people have failed on them), it's almost unfair how many singers get put through on this one.
  4. Totally agree with everything you said. I would have liked to see the funny comedian over Trump. Maybe they can get Trump to sing/dance with 5 Alive. Now *that* would be entertaining. Especially when we consider the past winners, that dog has nothing on the Olate dogs! (Ditto when considering the Golden Buzzer child ventriloquist to Terry Fator.)
  5. That would, unfortunately, make a lot of sense. Cute child -- buzzer. Story we can manipulate in an hour's worth (or more) of sappy, sad intros -- buzzer. Oh, legitimately good performer with no tragic backstory? Pffffft. We can't allow that act to go forward! Seriously, if anyone watches this show live, and sits through all the intros (and by extension, judges' adulation post-performance), I tip my hat to you!
  6. I was rolling my eyes, too -- especially at the judge's reactions. Yeah, I get that it's scripted, but their over-the-top "Where did the camera go?" and "Oh no! Let's soothe the woman who's seen these tricks countless numbers of times!" was just cringeworthy. The little girl was fine, but not buzzer-worthy. Unlike a few of the singers, I didn't feel the need to FF through her, though her stage-managed pronunciation was annoying. (The word is "fire" not "fi-yooooooo.") I wonder if the judges ever have Buzzer's Remorse when a much better act comes out after they've used their buzzer on a lesser act.
  7. True, but a few episodes earlier, Rory makes a big deal about Lorelai having food in the fridge (and fewer magazines and dimmer lightbulbs [wtf?]) because she (Lorelai) is having money issues.
  8. I mostly lurk, but "Scenes from a Mall" was on the other day, and the food court scene always infuriates me! They spend half the episode trying to make "skint" happen (skint will never happen) to show us how broke they are, but then Lorelai refuses when Emily offers her the credit card to buy food. They can't afford a single item at the mall, but then easily spend $150 on crappy food court food all of which they can't possibly consume?
  9. I'm catching up with this season during my quiet weekend, so forgive the belated bump to this ep. Reading a recap of this ep on another page, and someone there figured out what happened to the racks: The rookies stole them all! I just rewatched the kitchen scene, and Annie did complain about the ovens all being full, with nowhere to cook her pies (though she earlier told Jim that her crusts were in the oven?). They also made a show of the rookies talking about being in the kitchen first, so it's possible that it wasn't production, but the rookies messing with things. Too bad they didn't show much of the chefs pulling food out of the ovens to get a glimpse of the actual situation. Loving Jim, though. A bit of foreshadowing there in that scene when he came up and asked Annie if her tarts were in the oven, and then mentioned how much time was left with some skepticism/warning in his voice. There are a few vets competing who I really like, but I wanna see the underdog outlast them! Bearded BBQ chef who can't cook pork and tattoo chef who can't to cook veg can leave any time, though.
  10. Get rid of Mel B. I've always been generally ambivalent towards her, though I do appreciate how excited she gets about some of the acts. But the latter half of this season... Either she's taking drugs she shouldn't, or she not taking drugs that she should. She is constantly combative with the two male judges, often being physically violent towards them. I hope TPTB intervened somehow or had a nice, long chat with her after she accosted a section of the audience with a large glass of water -- especially she felt that "I was aiming for Simon!" was somehow a justifiable reason? No. Either she needs to calm down, or get the hell out.
  11. Long time lurker, first time poster. I was too outraged at the pathetic recycled storylines (and songs!) to be emotional about them killing Derek by the end of the episode. Hell, this wasn't even the first Grey's character to get broadsided by a truck! What a kick in the groin to one of the most loved characters on the show. Glad I could come over here and read so many like-minded evaluations of this awful episode. This ep ranks even below the sex storyline with Ghost!Denny. RIP McDreamy.
