I agree Jack wanted Kayla first but then Jennifer came along. Does anyone think Jack wanted anyone more than Jennifer after that?

Gabi hasn't had a pairing that took off I think her and Stefan have that potential if there was decent writing behind it and well there's not.

I have always wanted Jack to have a romance outside of his iconic pairing with Jennifer. I wish Jack had fallen in love with another woman during his missing years. I got tired of seeing Jack fight for Jennifer for some idiot. However, I did like Jennifer with Peter. Those two were hot and it made it easier for me to root for them because Matthew was fired as Jack and replaced by Mark Valley who should have been Mike Horton.  Horton men don't care well on this show. Bill should have been on the show and it would be interesting to see him interact with Kate who is no longer that naive young vulnerable woman he got with all those years ago. Not to mention, Bill bonding with Lucas and Will.

Still loving Brigitte. LOL Not really missing Eve at all, but it must be nice to be able to take a vacation and then still have a month long hiatus to look forward to in August. I wish I had those kind of vacations.

Don't we all wish we had those type of perks.

I love Brigitte as well because she is being who she is.  She can be a bit much but, she is comfortable in her own skin..

Well she slowly moved to the dark side when she changed Parker's paternity test.

    That was the beginning.

I would say lying to her husband about him being Bo's dad for years to keep her family together was worst. I always felt her changing Parker's paternity was random and made no sense. To be fair, the show has not made any sense for years.

Geddie was the one who came up with the conservative seat.

That is when Barbara lost control of her show. I always hated Bill Geddie setting the tone of the show by pushing his right wing agenda.

  6. The Wilson scenes were just too awesome for words. I loved them with Gabi, they have always worked as a trio and it will be interesting to see Wilson's reaction to Stefan. Their trio will soon be a foursome.

ORK was amazing as unhinged Claire. She is the best actress in her age group. She gave me chills, when she said "if I can't have Tripp, then no one can". Trip is a symptom of something very wrong in Claire. I wish she was not so isolated from her family. She is still a blank slate after all this time. Shelle should be here for this story. I have to remember that Claire is a Kiriakis biologically, she could be channeling her great grandfather Victor who did devilish things in the name of love.

I have no sympathy for Ciara and Ben. I just don't care about them and their pain. I feel more for their tormentor Claire who I find to be more sympathetic, despite everything. I do love how Eve is so maternal with Claire. I want Eve to torment Ben mercilessly for killing her baby Paige.

  7. We don't need fireworks, we need intelligent informed well read sane conservative women who will agree to disagree with the ladies who do not share their point of views. I wish the show would go back to their original roots with different women of different ages and stages of life discussing things that are important to them over coffee.  I know that will never happen but I liked it better when it was not so political and tense. Starr was a Democrat but she also had conservative views on certain issues she had a nuanced view of the world.  Also, you can be a Republican and not be a conservative.

This wasn't so hard to write she was a pathetic imitation of Sami as much as I hated her I at least got why Sami turned out the way she did. Theresa OTOH just showed up as a raging bitch from Day 1 with no real reason as to why. JJ showed up around the same time and I at least got his resentment towards Jennifer/Abby they ditched him after Jack "died".

Its also ridiculous that Shane wouldn't pay for Paige to go to Stanford I get him not wanting to give Eve money but his granddaughter? One who Shane would actually be proud of I don't think so.

So true when it comes to Paige. However, Shane would have provided for Eve because he always felt guilty that Eve grew up without him as a dad.  Eve being desperate for money and having to fight Jennifer for the income stemming from Jack's book never made any sense.  Eve and Jennifer never hated each other back in the day.  Eve called her out for playing games with Frankie and Jack.  Back then, heroines were allowed to be called out without the person doing the calling out being portrayed as an evil bitch.  Heroines were allowed to be flawed good people and not self-righteous saints who looked down on others.

Theresa never should have been focused on money in the first place.  Her father had more money than the Dimeras or Kiriakiases.

Plus, Theresa lived at the Dimera mansion as a child with her brother Andrew when it was called Donovan Manor. She also spent time at the Donovan estate in England where her uncle Bo married Hope in a church that was in the estate. Her father is also of British aristocracy, so she comes from old money. Theresa's characterization was a mess because they wanted her to be a Sami clone. All the show had to say was that Shane cut her off from her money for being irresponsible.  She could have been a spoiled princess who always got her way with her permissive mother.  I will never buy that Kim and Shane were bad parents.

Triangles and interlopers on a soap opera, oh my stars!

Soaps never relied heavily on triangles and interlopers to make a couple interesting as they do now. Bo and Hope never needed an interloper or a triangle to make them magical when Sherry wrote them in their original run before Hope died.  Lazy writers like Ron and his ilk rely on interlopers and triangles because he cannot write character-driven stories to save his life.  Everything with his writing is plot-driven, superficial and devoid of any heart and soul in my opinion.

  11. Ben the serial killer is scum and Ciara his lapdog is even worst. How could she be with a man who bragged about being a serial killer while making threats. Ciara is clingy and loathsome. I can't stand to see her and her crazy boyfriend together. Ciara reminds me of Gabi when she was with Nick. I hope Ben ends up like Nick with Ciara killing him one day.

I still feel bad for Claire despite her heinous crimes. This is all being done to prop Ben, Cin and Hayley. Olivia was just mesmerizing today and she sold that monologue beautifully. Claire's insanity and paranoia is just so heartbreaking to me.  I wish Sami, Jarlena and Shelle were woven into this story. Sami saving Claire from herself could have been a great nod to Sami's complicated history with Jarlena. Not to mention, Sami and Belle said some harsh words to each other when Marlena almost died.

Kristen is not entertaining nor necessary.

I was not a big James E Reilly fan but his version of Kristen was marvelous.  The Kristen who came back in 2012 and after was a campy mess and the writers tarnished her character for no reason. I would've preferred Peter to have been brought back in 2012 to wreak havoc on his enemies.

  13. I still feel bad for Claire and she is the villain in the story and the poor misunderstood serial killer with the abs.  Every time I see the actress, I see the old Belle who I adored and I just can't hate her even though Ron wants me to do that, in order to prop up the serial killer.  I also feel that Ron is purposely trashing Claire because the actress trashed his mediocre writing. He did the same thing with an actor on General Hospital and deliberated inserted fat jokes in the writing to humiliate the actor and the character he portrayed. I never saw anything wrong with the actor, I think a stocky man is very attractive in my book.

Nothing really shocks me on DOOL but my mouth dropped when Ciara was basically said "we convinced my mom to change her mind about you--we'll convince Eve too."

Except Ben didn't kill Hope's kid.  He did kill Eve's. Ciara acting like it was going to be the same was nuts.

I saw this scene and immediately deleted the episode.  This is why people are tuning out and Ciara is just as crazy as her serial killer boyfriend if she believes that Eve's vendetta against Ben is on the same level as Hope's.  I am team Eve on this , she can hurt Ben all she wants and it would not bother me at all. I still remember Paige begging for her life and he showed her no mercy. Why should Eve show him any?  Paige never did anything to him, she just happened to say hello to Chad at the Horton square and that was enough for her to merit that type of brutal drawn out death at the hands of Ben. I am so happy that Bo is dead and does not have to endure Cin as a couple.

I’m not sure what she deleted but in the ones that are still there, she’s getting torn to shreds for her hypocrisy AGAIN. She’s on a downward spiral if I’ve ever seen one...

Someone who cares about her needs to tell her to just stop.

What precipitated this back and forth on tweeter?   Was it her nasty attitude over Amy Klobuchar talking about her dad?

I don't care much for Carrie and Austin because....well Sami was the only interesting part of their love story. But to - at this late stage of the game - assign their only kid (who we've yet to meet!) to Rafe (RAFE?!) is dumb.

I'm hoping this is like the rumors that were circulating during Sami's last return, that she would be pregnant from their one night stand. Or like the rumor that Jordan's child is really Rafe's. Why can't they just do that?

Carrie was diminished as a three dimensional character because the writers who came after Sherry had no clue on how to write a flawed rootable heroine like Jennifer, Hope, Kim, Kayla, Adrienne, Melissa were back in the day. Carrie was supposed to be the female Roman as Sherry her creator envisioned her to be. Carrie as a child and tween was written so much better than as an adult. Sami got better writing overall because it is easier to write a bitchy character than a good person trying to do the right thing in spite of their inner demons.

Carrie got the shaft by incompetent writers. Carrie had her mommy issues that were never explored to the fullest that could have given her depth. She lost Anna, Marlena, Diana and Isabella before she was a fully formed adult. Not to mention losing both Roman and John as her dad. She was also a Dimera stepchild via Tony who she loved desperately. Carrie should have been the lead heroine like her beloved stepmom Marlena.

Yeah they’re gonna sell Gabi and Stefan as an “us against the world” couple

I hesitate to bring up Ejami because they are so polarizing because they inspire intense feelings on both sides. I thought they had that "us against the world" dynamic before the rape. As as Lumi fan, even I was intrigued.

Since Ron can only write "sick, twisted" romances because he doesn't know how to write a real one, you know damn well they're going to try to sell Gabi and Stefan as this great love story.  From what I see across social media and various message boards, you got people buying in.

For me, they're on that "You can go right now" list.  Stefan is a useless character and I've never cared for Gabi in the first place.

I agree about Stefan.  Gabi could be so much more if the writers gave a damn about her.   She is used as a prop and it is just a shame.  She has a complex history and she is a very grey character.   Dena tried to write her as a traditional heroine and it did not work in my opinion. I think that Gabi has a lot more stories to tell, if only we had a competent writer.

Maybe she'll really surprise us and pull of the Kristen mask and it will be.......Steve!  Who, of course, has been brainwashed by Xander, who will pull off HIS mask and reveal that he is Holly, who will pull off HER mask and reveal she is Nicole and.....

I thought the mask storyline worked better on General Hospital. Faison removing his Duke mask was just so damn awesome...lol.. I criticize Ron a lot but he was really good in that story..

I think that interesting characters should drive stories whether they be heroes or villains. Look at JJ and Haley. They are supposed to be good guys but they are dull as dirt. Bo and Hope were good guys but they were always interesting to watch. Jennifer in her heyday was wonderful to see. It can be done, if they are well written and acted and had an ounce of charisma.

The focus should never be from the villains' perspectives. It should be the heroes and heroines. Why should an unrepentant psychopath like Stefano drive stories for years and be given children left and right.. Why should I care about his feelings and desires?  He has hurt people for decades and never suffered consequences.  Why did Stefan have to be created? Why couldn't he be Andrew Donovan or Alexander Kiriakis. Legacy characters who are blank slates, they could be written as heroes, anti-heroes or even as villains.

The heroes should always win in fiction in my opinion. I don't have a problem with an interesting villain being written well, but, they should lose more than win.  Stefano being able to eat dinner in peace at the Brady pub was ridiculous to say the least. He lived in the same town as his numerous victims. Stefano was much better when he wreaked havoc, leaving the heroes to deal with the fallout. Stefano should have died years ago, preferably at the hands of Roman who was his original victim.  With Roman going to prison for a few years, we could have been spared that awful recast. Roman lost everything because of him. Heroes who commit bad acts should pay the consequences for them. I had no problem with Hope killing Stefano but I did have a problem with the coverup and letting Rafe talk her into doing that.

A serial killer will soon get an ornament on the Horton Christmas tree,  the same tree that Alice Horton. I find that to be despicable.  Ciara could have been a villainous character who would eventually become an anti-heroine as she grew and mature. She could have been like Erica Kane from All My Children who never became a traditional heroine.  Ciara being written as a beleaguered heroine should never have happened. Ciara should have grown up in real time with Chase and we could have been spared that awful unnecessary rape story that damaged Ciara and Chase. Ciara embracing her Kiriakis roots and lusting for power could have been a character-driven conflict between her and her parents, especially Bo, who has never accepted Victor..

I don't think it necessarily says anything about Ron but the nature of the things soap fans root for. A lot of soap fans root for evil characters. I've never been one of them, but it's how characters like Sami back in the day and EJ and Ben now somehow become popular.

I think that has signal the death of soaps in my opinion.  The heroes and heroines should always drive stories. Look at how the show is always bringing back a Dimera. Why can't they bring back a Horton, a Brady.  There are so many legacy children out there twisting in the wind. Perhaps Stefanie or Andrew comes back with a secret. The show is always focused on the villains. The villains have a place but not to the detriment of the heroes.  I watch the show less and less because a serial killer is now a hero.
