  1. Has anyone read this theory? The theory is mostly based on throwaway lines, like Kate and Kevin being afraid of flying, Kevin destroying his model airplanes he made with Jack after he died etc.
  2. This one hit close to home for me. I saw my father go through almost exactly what Randall is going through very recently, and it took several attempts to convince him he shouldn't handle it alone before he caved and understood he needed help, so I was frustrated and upset pretty much the whole episode with everyone around Randall. Why didn't someone offer to help him earlier? Even in small ways. I know they all seem to think he has it together, but something as simple as Kevin witnessing the phone call about William's nurse and going, "hey, do you want me to go see if I can smooth things over? I'm killing some time anyway." Gah!! I know they all have their own stuff going on, but they've also mentioned this is a pattern for him, so you'd think they'd be a little more observant about it. Of course, that wouldn't make for quite as dramatic a final scene with Randall and Kevin, which made me totally lose it even though I knew it was manipulative as Hell on the part of the writers. DAMN YOU, THIS IS US TEAM! It was a definite turnaround from Teen!Kevin turning away from his brother's pain, which I know was the point, but still. And I agree, Sterling K. Brown needs to submit this one for all the awards. All of them. Give him a Grammy and a Razzie and a People's Choice award. Literally all of them.
  3. Before the revival aired, I was kind of hoping that if they had to have Rory end up with someone, they'd pull a HIMYM and introduce someone new late in the game that viewers learned to love by the end. You know, without the way those writers ended things. Clearly I was hoping for too much from ASP.
  4. If Rory ends up having Lorelai version 4.0, what would her nickname be? Lori? Laila? Lore? Lila? Lee? Trixie McBimbo? I'm out. I realize I ask the tough questions.
  5. So I'll start out by saying that for the first half or so of "Winter," I was really feeling for Rory. I, too, went to school for writing and journalism, and I've had a rough year that has involved several job losses, a move out of my own Brooklyn apartment, and even the loss of not just one, but both of my grandfathers this summer. I'm about five years behind her age-wise, but the similarities were striking. But man has she annoyed the crap out of me in this revival since! I haven't watched the final episode and after how much I wanted to scream at her this episode, I'm kind of afraid to in case she gets worse? The whole Rory/Logan thing has rubbed me the wrong way since "Winter," but it came to a head this episode. Just stop. Get out of each other's orbits already. And I was very annoyed with her attitude towards the Thirysomething Gang -- you are not better than them, Rory, you're just not. Stop acting like it. You're basically in the same boat, what gives? This actually annoyed me too. I grew up in a town with less than 3,000 people, which I think we're supposed to believe is about how big Stars Hollow is, though from personal experience there is seriously no way that's possible with all Stars Hollow has going on. Anyway. During breaks and a few summers in college I wrote for our town paper and I got paid. It wasn't much, but it was something. I can see how maybe that's not the case in every small town, but that paper seemed to have a pretty extensive distribution and looked like it had plenty of ads. The paper I wrote for has since been absorbed by a company that produces and distributes for five or six similarly-sized towns in the area. And A) it's puzzling to me that a paper that is still supposedly operating well wouldn't be snatched up by a similar operation and B) how bizarre is it that they wouldn't pay the editor SOMETHING? Again, given that the paper supposedly does okay. Yes, journalism and the media in general has changed a lot, and Rory was educated and graduated into a weird period for the career field. Much of my own experience post-college has been in online media. Especially as she's living at home, this is a good time for Rory to be putting feelers out to lots of different websites and to see what she prefers, since she doesn't have to focus on making rent and paying the bills. She seriously is driving me crazy here -- in the first episode they made it sound like she'd been published on some pretty big sites, so she must have diversified her work and made connections. Where is the Rory who put out 73 resumes back in the day? I know sometimes people go through rough stuff and need a break -- again, I relate to Rory in some regards because I've done some of that myself this year. But good God, girl, get your self together. I've been watching each episode and then sitting down to re-watch it while my family watches each the first time around, and frankly, I'm putting off watching this one with them. Between Rory, the musical, the fat jokes, and L/L STILL having the same communication issues, it really put me off. One positive: I have a soft spot for April because, like others, I love the actress in Switched at Birth, but also because I think she's a much more intense version of me when I graduated college!
  6. I, for one, will definitely be needing alcohol to get through this. And I'll be tweeting through the show directing people to donate to RAINN. Gotta do something to combat the ick I'll be feeling. Now this, I don't know if I'll be able to handle watching "live."
  7. Not sure if this is the appropriate thread but, Wyndham Hotels responded a few minutes ago to a boycott tweet someone tagged me in and stated, "We share your concerns and have removed our ad from “19 Kids and Counting” which was part of a larger sponsorship with TLC." Dropping like flies. ETA: Macy's just responded, they're dropping ad support as well. I feel like that's a big one.
  8. http://act.weareultraviolet.org/sign/tlc_duggars/ A petition via Ultra Violet to have the show cancelled. Their petitions often get tons of attention and have been proven to cause action to be taken.
  9. Not sure if I should post this here or in the general chat topic, but I just want to comment quickly with some resources. Sometimes, when these stories hit the media, it's triggering to past or present abuse survivors, and/or it can encourage survivors to come forward and look for support. Feel free to remove if this is totally inappropriate. RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) is an amazing organization. Please don't hesitate to reach out to them at their website (RAINN.org) for their online hotline and information on local resources, or through their telephone hotline, listed there as well. I don't even know what else to say.
  10. Josh and FRC Action were both mentioned in this article about today's SCOTUS oral arguments regarding same-sex marriage:
  11. I actually really liked that, because after my grandmother died, my grandfather developed dementia and had a good friend around pretty much daily, and my parents and I referred to her as his "companion." I believe it was at least somewhat a romantic relationship before he finally had to be moved to a memory care facility, though he never made any obvious romantic gestures towards her while his grandchildren were around. I personally read into it as being a similar situation but could be totally wrong, and didn't think of that uncomfortable factor...hmm...
  12. Am I the only one who thought the writing, camerawork and music were all pretty terrible this episode? My roommate and I were laughing at points that should have been fairly serious as a result... But I do adore Timothy Omundson. That hair is a character unto itself. Jensen did an excellent job with the material given, and I was pretty impressed by Jared as well. Kind of over Crowley, to be honest. If he leaves and comes back in like five episodes I think I'd be okay with him again.
  13. First time poster, long time lurker, so let me know if I do this wrong but... This is David Burtka, right? http://s5.postimg.org/9v8b1yad3/image.jpg ETA: I've been told by several people that it's not him. Dang!
