  1. Hawkeye keeps getting delayed and they just released 16 and 15 out of order (15 is out next week), which if you're OCD I imagine would drive you insane.
  2. I've tried with Young Avengers and just don't like it. Hawkeye though... mmm, yes, that's the stuff. There's a whole Pizza Dog issue! #11, I think.
  3. I read both FF and Fantastic Four recent runs all the way through and was kinda disappointed toward the end (in that I had no idea what the Hell was going on after a while). I vastly preferred FF to Fantastic. Just had a more fun, family vibe. I would read a comic of just those kids from FF written by Fraction, but alas. How's Pretty Deadly?
  4. Lauren Cohan's this week was the first time I've really noticed it being so bad. It was like she was out of practice or something.

    Ms. Marvel

That's a good question and I have no idea. I'm reading it completely cold. Anyone have some insight on what we should expect/know about Ms. Marvel?

    Ms. Marvel

I did not! I'm not new to comics but I'm pretty behind on most superhero-related stuff. What was that one like?

    Ms. Marvel

The first issue is out and it's really good. The hype around it has been over it being the first Muslim female superhero, but it doesn't feel like the hype has diminished the product. Already, Kamala feels like a real teenager, not an adult's idea of what a teen would sound like. Very promising start, y'all should pick it up.
  8. I'm not into superhero comics either and Hawkeye is exactly not that and dispenses with all the capes and cowls stuff for the most part. And it's funny. "Y The Last Man" is great. The main character reminds me a lot of Marko from "Saga." I think you'd like "Sex Criminals," but I could be completely wrong. There are some incredibly clever porn jokes in it that make me giggle, but it's also got a very intriguing premise and great art. Have heard good things about Nowhere Men but haven't dived into that yet.
  9. If they ever kill Daryl, how many of us will just stop watching?
  10. I think if Chad L. Coleman brings a lot to the party here. The dialogue certainly isn't serving the character too well and he's been written pretty one-note.
  11. Is Glenn worried about Maggie right now? Yeah, probably.
  12. They seem to be making Carl like a normal teen right now rather than the completely fucked-up bag of nerves he would likely be if all those things happened to a real kid. So, he's resilient, then?
  13. Much better character development with her this season, but is that saying much?
  14. I think Andrew Lincoln is a really good actor, but boy is Rick tough to take sometimes.
  15. My comic expert friend Joe Gross recommends the War Rocket Ajax podcast for comics discussion and my friend Ryun hosts one called Modular Megaculture that discusses comics as well as pop culture, toys and other geek-friendly stuff. They turned me on to Hawkeye, Sex Criminals and Ms. Marvel, among others.
  16. I really only picked this up because I've fallen in love with Matt Fraction's work ("Hawkeye," "FF" in particular). I was expecting a weird sex farce and that's kinda how it starts out, but it's actually pretty revelatory about human sexuality (especially for those of us who grew up in the scrambled cable/VCR days) in ways I wasn't expecting and seems to be going a lot deeper (sorry) than you would think. Really great work and perhaps the best fourth-printing cover of all time.

    Saga

I love that they're structuring it as six-episode arcs with long (a few months) breaks in between, which turns out to be extremely satisfying. The end of issue 18 just knocked me out. I could not love this comic any more. The art is beautiful and BKV is not afraid to shake up the storyline constantly.
  18. That struck me as crazy disturbing, especially given Carol's penchant for putting people out of their misery.
