    Synopsis:

When someone close to him suffers a terrible accident, the Count resolves to save them at any cost, making a decision that endangers his life. As the hotel rallies to protect him, the crisis forces Anna to confront her true feelings about the Count.

  2. Aaron Judge on his ejection. He says he was never ejected in college, high school or any other level.

  3. Judge looked calm. He must have just said the magic word to the ump. I was shocked that he was tossed. The crowd at YS was definitely NOT happy.

Can you explain the coins?  The have not recurred in later episodes.  I have not read the book.

The series is unrolling the story in a similar manner to what the book did. You're not yet supposed to understand anything about the coins, so don't worry about them now. They will come into play before the end of the series. Just pay attention to small stuff that seems unimportant as you watch the show because it all comes together at the end.

Trust me, you don't want to be spoiled.

  5. Please tell me that I'm not the only horrible, awful person who was hoping that stripper DJ Chris would die right there on the couch and become one of the permanent cast members on Ghosts? In only a couple of appearances, we've already learned quite a bit about his character. I like him a lot and would enjoy having him added to the cast. A Nigel/Isaac/Chris triangle would be gold.

About the limitations on Pete's ghost power: We need to know if it's the distance from or the length of time he's away from Woodstone that triggers the disappearance of his extremities.

    How bout dem Os hon?!!

(Gotta jump on the opportunity while I can...)

I don't think it's a "while you can" situation. This Orioles' team is the real deal and I thought so even before your team kicked my team's butt three times over these past four days to move into first place!

  7. I've been meaning to post about this since Laura Bligh told her Merv Griffin story on Tuesday evening's episode. I have a Merv Griffin story of my own that I always thought I'd tell if I ever made my way onto Jeopardy!, but that's not happening,  so I thought I'd share it with you all.

I grew up in northeastern NJ, just across the Hudson River from midtown Manhattan. When I was 6 or 7 years old, the Merv Griffin Show was still filming in New York. In our house, we watched Merv every night, so I was well acquainted with who he was. One day my parents took me (I'm an only child) into the city for the day, as we sometimes would. In the evening, we were walking in the Times Square area (very different in the 1960s!) heading to the terminal to catch the bus back to NJ.

My Mom, who had lived and worked in Manhattan for many years in the '40s and '50s, looked down one of the side streets and saw a few dozen people standing outside a side entrance to one of the theaters. Much to the chagrin of my Dad, my Mom cries out, "Ooh, autograph hounds," grabs my hand and starts hustling down the street. "I wonder who they're waiting for?" Almost as soon as we joined the group, a door opened and out walked Merv Griffin! Merv began signing autographs. My Mom pulled a shopping list out of her purse, handed it to me and my father somehow found a way to get me all the way to the front, where I found myself looking up at Merv Griffin. I heard my Dad call out, "One for the little girl, Merv!" Mr. Griffin looked down at me and said, "Hello little girl." I said "Hi Merv." He signed the back of my Mom's shopping list, smiled at me and patted me on the head.

And that's my childhood story about "meeting" the creator of Jeopardy!

  8. I missed this show! I laughed out loud several times. 😄

When Deb emerged from her "closet" (Wow!) with that hideous dress, I said to my son, who was watching with me, "This is a test to see which of her surrounding sycophants will actually speak truth to power." I was shocked Deb truly liked the ugly dress! 😄 But it turned out to be a well-written way of letting it be Ava who told Deb the truth.

  9. Yay, Michelle!

Savannah's looked very good but just wasn't sausage-y enough.

All the sausages were hilarious.  Is that really what they do at Brewers' games?

    Yes.

Also, in DC, the Nationals have a former Presidents' Run.

Living in Chicago I know snow gives everyone something to talk about (which Sheldon probably wouldn't like, though he'd be the first one complaining). If it was always nice out, what would we talk about?

I live in the south now, where it's hot and sticky for about 7-8 months each year. We talk about humidity and insects. There's always a topic, no matter your weather!

Caltech doesn't even have a chapel (although there are churches of all denominations within a few miles of campus).  It's a great school, though.

Even if every one of his potential choices had a Baptist chapel on campus, Mary can't possibly believe that Sheldon would attend church services!

I was debating whether to watch the Tigers game or mow the lawn (guess which choice was winning).  Decision taken out of my hands, I guess.

Wow. Are you in the Tigers footprint? I'd be losing my my mind over this. It doesn't seem to be temporary, either. Sometimes, if Xfinity (or any other provider) is in negotiations, you might lose that service for a week or two. This doesn't sound like that. 😕

I hate to be the horrible "well, actually" person but my Canadian pride compels me to say that Matty is Canadian. He was born in New Brunswick, lived in Nova Scotia as a kid and moved to Ontario as a teen. All of his current restaurants are in Toronto except the one in Port Erie where he's from. He may be a loud slob but he's our loud slob.

Thank you for this. I'm from the US, but I knew Matty M. was Canadian, because of an Architectural Digest piece I read about him and his latest Toronto restaurant, that's almost two years old now. I also watched a corresponding video on Architectural Digest's YouTube channel. Here's the link to the article: https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/chef-matty-matheson-toronto-restaurant

Matty Matheson is a well respected Canadian Chef and Restauranteur, and that's before he became known for The Bear. I think the level of vitriol against him that's been appearing in this thread is very upsetting, with a good amount of underlying fat shaming occurring, under the guise of calling him a slob. He's far from the first person who's appeared on Top Chef who has licked some yummy sauce off his finger.

I'm not a huge fan of graphic violence so I hope they don't go too far beyond the boiling scene because, yes, that was awful.

I felt the same way after episode 1. Torturous violence makes me think hard about watching additional episodes, but I stuck with Shogun and I'm very glad I did. There is certainly graphic violence in future episodes, but nothing as disturbing as that scene.
