  1. I give up with trying to work out which leakers might be legit lol! In regards to Dany possibly being portrayed as a tyrant in s8, the show has set it up so that Jon is the main male hero and moral authority. If he approves of Dany’s actions then she is good, and if he disapproves then she is bad. If the Tyrion leaks are legit then it sounds like Davos and the rest of the Starks judge Tyrion as guilty of some kind of treason. In this case it would appear the decision to execute Tyrion would be something Jon would support, therefore the show is likely to portray it as just and right. Of course some Tyrion fans might hate Dany if she did execute him because he’s their fave, but it seems like Jon and the Starks etc would probably get the same hate.
  2. I will laugh if after all this talk of the ending being surprising and unpredictable, it turns out the “shocking” events are things fandom pretty much took as a given. For example, the IT is destroyed, the dragons all die etc.
  3. If the majority of the cast really don’t like the ending I’m curious as to what they hate about it. Is it because fan faves like Jon, Dany or Tyrion die? Is it too “Disney” and they were hoping for darker? Or is it that they don’t necessarily hate the outcome but hate the way it happens?
  4. How dare you, don't you know the Starks are the most moral people on GoT lol? Dany has proven she is unfit to be a ruler by burning prisoners of war, if she wants to be a fair and just leader she needs to do what the Starks do with prisoners of war - have them eaten alive by dogs. Clearly that is much more humane. Or maybe she could hold a sham trial to judge her enemies and include sterling evidence like visions from a tree, or suddenly changing her story in respect of the death of a relative. Or perhaps Dany could poison all the male members of a family who wronged her and start baking people into pies.
  5. The Rebellion didn't even really start because of the alleged Lyanna kidnapping, it started because Aerys called for the heads of Robert and Ned, which resulted in Jon Arryn calling his banners. Although I guess you could argue that the alleged Lyanna kidnapping resulted in Ned's father and brother stupidly riding to KL and demanding the crown prince's head, which led to Aerys killing them in one of his mad rages. But yes, who exactly told the Starks that Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna and how did they know this? Did Lyanna leave a note saying she was running off with Rhaegar and someone disposed of it? The show will likely not answer these questions, and GRRM is never going to finish the books so it will forever remain a mystery. Yeah, the conversation between Theon and Jon in s7 was some pretty major foreshadowing of Jon's ultimate response to the parentage bomb. I expect he will brood for no more than one episode, then Winterfell will be attacked so he will be forced into action mode and it will be bygones. If Jon does ride a dragon by the end of the season, then thematically he probably needs to accept his Targ side before this can happen.
  6. I think it would probably be pretty difficult for Westeros to rebuild if the kingdoms try to go their separate ways. For example, going by s7 the North doesn't have too much grain left, whereas the Reach still seems to be doing okay food wise. Obviously it depends on what happens in s8, but it seems like things will go from bad to worse in the North. Assuming the Reach still has a decent amount of food left after the war, a centralised government would presumably work to distribute the foods amongst all the kingdoms to avoid people up North and in other places starving to death. If the kingdoms stay separate the Reach would have no incentive to send food North (or anywhere else), unless the other kingdoms are prepared to pay top dollar for precious food supples. However, one assumes that after the war the Northerners are not going to have stockpiles of cash and thus would be unable to afford to buy much food from the Reach. Although, I guess they could set up sort of council so the kingdoms are separate somehow work together to try and better Westeros etc. Jon and Dany have been through so much shit (as have pretty much all the main characters), that I wouldn't begrudge them if they wanted to run off and live a quiet life with baby Targ. But I agree with others that peacing out and leaving others to clean up the mess seems to go against their mutual desire to help people and their deep sense of duty.
  7. I think they might also use Cersei’s miscarriage as the catalyst for her to lose her tenuous grip on reality and go full cray cray, ie deciding to send her army to WF to kill team D/J instead of hanging back in KL.
  8. I think D&D made a big mistake having Bran actually see the wall falling at the end of s7, because that means Team D/J should be made aware of this fact as soon as they arrive. Also, the Starks sibs and the rest of the Northern Lords / Vale dudes should be up to speed too. So any squabbling between any of the parties just seems petty, unnecessary and something they don't have time for. Similarly Jon looks silly if he spends more than 1 second wallowing when the parentage bomb gets dropped. There's no time for moping and loving family conversations when an army of the dead is literally coming right at you. If Dany tells the North she will only help if Glover eats a dragon turd, he should dig in post haste without argument because an army of the dead is heading straight for them! I think it would have been better to have the wall fall in the finale but not have Bran see it. Just have Ed or Tormund show up at the the end of 8x01 to drop the bomb after everyone has spent the episode having petty fights, loving reunions and staring at tombs of newly discovered mothers. Also in regards to Dany, I don't think we really have enough information to know whether she will ask the Northerns to bend the knee to her. She told Jon in 7x06 that she was willing to go North and fight the Night King with him (and did not stipulate any conditions), and he then bent the knee and said she would be a great queen. Then in 7x07 when everyone was arguing as to how she should travel North, Dany chose Jon's suggestion of travelling together because she was coming to save the North not conquer it. She might turn up and ask Glover and co to bend the knee, or she might not care because Jon has already done it. The Northerners have been established as useless bitch babies so they are still likely to call her a foreign invading whore and whine about Jon bending the knee, even if Dany is happy to wait until after the war to discuss the finer points of Westerosi politics. And again, everyone will know the wall has fallen so there is no time for either Dany to argue with the Lords about bending the knee or for the Lords to try and overthrow Jon for a non-Stark who will tell Dany to bugger off. They all need to be either hauling ass away from Winterfell or setting up / planning for the imminent fight with the NK and his army. I think they've probably already telegraphed what will happen with Dany and the Westerosi people anyway. In s7 Dany demanded Jon bend the knee and he refused, until she stopped asking him and did something heroic for him, then he happily called her his queen in an unprompted declaration and said everyone would come to see her for what she is. Going by this I expect the North to hate Dany until Cersei attacks Winterfell in ep 3. After Dany and her army join with the North to fight GC/Lannisters, they will probably think she is queen material. Similarly, if Dany and Jon are instrumental in defending KL from the NK in ep 5/6, all those citizens will probably be happy to name them king and queen afterwards.
  9. Friki mentioned yesterday that Tyrion betrays Dany. I think it was in the comments of his freefolk post, but don’t hold me to it. In his thing last week he said the Starks (maybe on Twitter, although again don’t hold me to that). From what I can see Friki has provided no information as to what this alleged betrayal entails, so I’m assuming his questionable source hasn’t told him the why, who or how.
  10. Guys, if we believe boatsexbaby has legit info then Emilia (and Kit’s) lack of filming in Seville means nothing. Unless something has changed, BSB claims that there is a dragon battle raging when the Starks et al are in the DP, and Dany and Jon both survive along with their kiddo. Personally I hope BSB’s info is correct because it means a happy ending for my faves, but I think the past week has taught us that we can’t be sure of any leaks!
  11. I agree that Sansa and Tyrion had a fair bit of romantic undercurrent to their scenes in past seasons when they were married. In a way it was kind of the GoT version of the fake dating rom com trope, although we never got the usual conclusion where the fake dating leads to real feelings. However, the fact that they seem to be going in on having Tyrion in love with Dany makes me question a Sansa/Tyrion endgame. I believe PD gave a recent interview where he talked about the J/D/T triangle, and after s7 he said a few times that Tyrion was in love with Dany. Tyrion having feelings for Dany wouldn't prevent a Sansa/Tyrion marriage if it was for political purposes. But if D&D wanted to have a Sansa/Tyrion endgame where they had mutual feelings, I just question why they would feel the need to have Tyrion fall for Dany. Especially when he only has a few episodes next season to fall out of love with Dany and into love with Sansa. Of course, Jon and Dany fell in love in a few episodes last season so I suppose it's not impossible for Tyrion's feelings to change quickly. It just seems kind of pointless to have him take a detour in Dany love if his endgame is Sansa, especially when there's no tension/question as to who Dany would "choose" in the triangle.
  12. Yes Friki is/was definitely getting an automatic pass from a lot of people because of his previous spoiler history. Although clearly his past dubbing source cannot be giving him these spoilers. So if some brand new source just randomly contacted Friki claiming to have the goods, I do wonder how exactly Friki vetted this information. I think it would be strange for Friki to purposely lie to fandom because he would be trashing his good reputation for no reason. Unless Friki's dubbing source was discovered (surely the number of people who have early access to GOT episodes to do Spanish dubbing is not huge?), so he knows he's not going to get his usual spoilers for s8 and wants to go out in a blaze of glory or something lol. I think Friki's first spoiler drop where he just said that Tyrion commits some sort of betrayal and there is a reveal/trial was believable. A lot of people were speculating that Tyrion would do something in s8, although I would say popular consensus was an inadvertent betrayal caused by wanting to save Cersei's kid or something rather than a moustache twirling act of villainy. However, these latest spoilers just seem a bit off. Jon and Dany aren't at the trial but there is no explanation for their absence. If the source is legit then I can't see why they wouldn't know whether J/D are dead or elsewhere, so why aren't they providing any info about two of the biggest characters? Last week Friki seemed to be suggesting his theory was that Tyrion dies and Jon/Dany rule. Again, why did he think this if his source has not said one word about J/D, except that they aren't at the DP? Also, Friki's explanation that Tyrion's motive is to keep his family in power does not seem to make a lick of sense. Considering Cersei hates Tyrion and wants him dead, I cannot see any reason why he would decide to try and keep her on the throne. A betrayal to save Jaime or the Lannister foetus I could buy, but to keep Cersei on the throne? Nope. Especially when we know Cersei is going to go back on her word to fight the WW, and send an army to try and take out WF while the AOTD is marching. Pacifist Tyrion of s7 who was tearing up over the death of the useless Tarlys would not be on board with all this carnage. Ever since we heard that the Robyn actor filmed for s8 I have been wondering whether he might end up with Sansa. Her arc in the books is so tied to the Vale that her ending up as LotV would not be a huge shock. Practically speaking show-wise, Robyn is one of the few age appropriate marriage candidates left Her only other options currently (apart from some random, nameless lord's son that we haven't met yet) are probably Gendry and Pod. Obviously there are Tyrion and the Hound etc. too if she were to marry someone older, but the pool of similar age dudes is slim. Robyn is a major lord and has had a puberty glow up, so assuming his personality has improved since his crazy mother died, he might not be a bad option.
  13. So it seems some on Freefolk are seriously questioning the Friki leaks as apparently Tryion's "I never bet against my family" was a book-only line. However, Friki's leaks have Bran saying this line as a supposed callback to a Tyrion/Cat conversation from s1 that never actually happened on the show. Hmm.
  14. Yes I am curious as to exactly what Tyrion’s betrayal entails. Is he just flat out trying to kill team D/J so Lannisters can continue to rule. Does he only want to ensure the survival of Cersei’s kid? Or is it perhaps a battle decision kind of thing with his “they deserved it” comments? Will Tyrion arrange to blow up KL with wildfire to kill the AOTD, which also kills the millions of KL inhabitants?
  15. If Friki is correct and Davos is leading Tyrion’s trial, then I think that suggests Dany and Jon are alive. If Jon dies as a result of Tyrion’s betrayal I don’t see the Starks sitting back and letting Davos run things. Arya in particular would be our for blood.
  16. If Tyrion does betray Dany and the Starks next season, I don't think it necessarily has to be just about him being jealous of the Dany/Jon romance. S7 did a good job of setting up Tyrion's numerous failures as Hand, and his annoyance at being effectively replaced by Jon as Dany's lead advisor. In 7x04 Dany was furious at Tyrion after the Casterly Rock debacle and wanted to fly her dragons to the red keep to attack Cersei. Tyrion advised against it but Dany wasn't swayed until Jon made an impassioned plea to her. In 7x05 Dany disregarded Tyrion's advice about how to deal with the Tarlys. Then in 7x06 he told her not to chase after Jon and co beyond the wall and she ignored him and flew off to the rescue. Finally, in 7x07 Dany overruled all her advisors and decided to sail North "together" at Jon's suggestion. I could definitely see Tyrion becoming worried that Dany will no longer require his services, especially once Jon's Targ history is revealed.
  17. I agree that it would make the most sense to have Tyrion's trial after the AOTD have been defeated, but...D&D and sense don't always go together lol. Although I thought there was some suggestion that they were using fake or CGI snow for the DP scene. which may indicate it was before the NK is defeated and winter ends etc.?
  18. If Tyrion is up to no good in season 8, it makes sense that Arya would be the most suspicious of him. Dany trusts him more than the Starks since he's her hand, but both Jon and Sansa seem to like Tyrion and trust him to some degree ("he's not like the other Lannisters" etc.). Plus, Arya can use her faceless man lie detector skills to sniff out any deceptions he might be perpetrating. I also wonder if Sansa will be the one to suggest that Jon and Dany marry in s8, possibly after the parentage reveal. D&D conspicuously refrained from having any of Jon, Dany, Davos, Tyrion or Varys etc. consider a J/D marriage alliance in s7, even though Dany came to Westeros looking for a man to marry and Jon was trying get her help without bending the knee. Yet, for no real reason they had Littlefinger, who hasn't even met Dany, tell Sansa that Jon probably wants to marry her.
  19. One other thing to consider about the filming at the dragonpit was that Emilia was apparently pretty busy promoting her Star Wars movie when they were filming there. If she was unable to film there because of her other commitments, but Dany is supposed to be in the scene, it's possible she filmed her scenes in a studio and they will use VFX magic to "add" her to the scene. They could have even decided to have Jon and Dany be together and slightly away from the others (maybe even on thrones?), so it doesn't look odd with just Dany by herself in a corner. Hence, maybe that's why Kit didn't film there as well. Or, I dunno, maybe Dany is busy giving birth or something. I will be really surprised if Jon and Dany aren't there because they are dead. Frankly, I don't think GRRM, HBO or D&D have the balls to kill off the 3 most popular characters lol.
  20. I wonder if the “Tyrion betrayal flashbacks” will include a continuation of the Tyrion / Cersei scene from 7x7 where he presumably makes some sort of deal with her? This news is also making me think about one of the previous leakers (maybe boatsexbaby?) who said that there would be some kind of explanation for the WW that would bring everything from the start of the show full circle and explain their motives etc. Perhaps there was some confusion because Friki’s spoilers make it sound like Tyrion is getting the big full circle explanation.
  21. Assuming there is a Tyrion betrayal, I could definitely see him trying to justify a plot towards Jon (i.e. arranging for him to be captured by Lannister forces or purposely trying to endanger him during the war etc.) by telling himself he's doing it for Dany by protecting her title as Queen from Targ competition. Especially if you have Varys or some of the Northern Lords saying that maybe Jon should be King etc. I do agree with others that have pointed out it seems odd that Bran isn't part of the big reveal, or that he apparently doesn't sense this ongoing betrayal with his 3ER powers. Of course, Bran didn't think it was pertinent to tell Sansa and Arya that LF was playing them against each other last season so maybe Tyrion's betrayal is part of the bigger picture?
  22. Why do these leaks throw up more questions than answers lol? The whole Tyrion being revealed as a secret Targ right at the end thing is hysterical. It took the Tarlys a few seconds to turn into ash, so do the Starks and Dany just sprint out of the DP the second after Dracarys if they don't notice he's alive?
  23. It seems pretty strange to have a trial for Tyrion while the battle with the dead rages on. Wouldn’t it be easier to just kill him or lock him up until after? Unless the trial happens post-war, although was there supposed to be snow in the dragonpit? I do think D&D should have kept some of Tyrion’s “darker” traits from the books if he is going to end up betraying DJ.
  24. Well I suppose if the spoiler is that Jon dies and Dany doesn’t, the likely outcome is Dany ruling (whether on the IT or a new ugly chair) with Tyrion as her hand. Alternatively, if the spoiler is that Tyrion dies and JD live, then one can probably assume JD rule together.
  25. Oh yeah someone spoiled ages ago that Jaime died in Brienne’s arms at the end of ep 4. I admit I didn’t think it would happen until ep 6 because I figured they would want to squeeze 6 eps out of NCW.
