  1. I may overthink this, but how much was Chuck's decision to not run as governor came from himself vs from Wendy's coaching? Wendy is a master manipulator who can turn a hint of doubt into full blown conviction. I mean Chuck already took care of the kingmaker and would not have been a puppet governor. And granting the wish of that judge to stay at Southern was nice, but that sounded like something that could have been dealt "creatively". The one who reapt major benefit from that decision was Wendy with her revenge on Chuck Sr..
  2. Charlotte is a lackey, maybe #1 lackey but still expendable to the board
  3. Yep. It made sense that Ford and William had agreement so as long as the park was financed, Ford could freely do #1 and William #2. Julliet was likely a member of Delos board and when she died, whatever support/backing given to William crumbled and his pet project got defunded. Other than his immediate family member, who would want Delos Sr back after being absent / dead for 20 years??? per that quote: "you only live as long as the last person who remembers you" Without immortality project, Delos' remaining assets in WW are the guests information + DNA databank. The current Delos board chairman (presumably Emily) realized the data gave Ford too much leverage and told Theresa/QA lady & Charlotte to transmit/move the data out of WW*. This data is now stored in Abernathy. I think the new Delos board is going to close the park once they get the data. Knowing this, Ford flipped his finger by releasing the hosts to kill most of Delos shareholders. ETA: *This part in italic was not a theory, that was pretty much the explanation Charlotte gave to Theresa when they met in Charlotte's room (Hector was there too ;) ). Ford most likely learned about it via eavesdropping through Hector (I thought it was weird how they kept Hector in frame during this scene. It made sense now) Btw Lisa Joy also directed this episode
  4. As we saw in season 1, Theme Park was running just fine with Ford as the head of theme park. William's project is separate from the park, even hidden from the park employees. The immortality tech is William's investment in the future of Delos. It is normal for companies to invest in R&D. Ford turning the host to slaughter rich people was never part of business plan, theme park or otherwise. Plus, Delos company seem to care more about the data stored in Abernathy than rescuing the rich people still trapped in the park. So whatever $$ lost is still small compared to that data. I never said rely on, it was just extra income. Even without insurance, "taking wrong pills" still sounds better than "slitting her own wrist". Rich people like to save face, yes?.
  5. Maybe wife's life insurance did not cover suicide? Taking the wrong pills sounded more like an accident
  6. Because William has not perfected the tech even after 20 years of trying The hosts mimic the creators. Plus, how is Maeve an a-hole? Because they know something you don't :P And he sounded badass !!
  7. TBH this multi episodes Bo&Dre splitting up storyline is driving me away from the series. I know the show has tackled real things and divorce is very real, BUT I tuned in mainly for the comedy. I know Man-baby Dre is not compatible with high strung Bo IRL, but I am willing to suspend my disbelieve for the comedy. If I want dark and gloomy I can easily switch to local news Whatever. I am getting 1/2 hour back per week :(
  8. As much as I like piecing the timelines together, this jumping back and forward is not as effective compared to season 1. In season 1, the bulk of the story was in 30 years between young William and MiB, plus about 35 years for Dolores' story. However, this season, the majority of events happened within the span of 1.5 to 3 weeks, AND there are more groups of characters & storylines to keep track. There is little payoff in deciphering the timelines since events are too close together. Either consolidate the storylines or align the timelines to make better narrative
  9. IIRC last season MiB said his wife took some pills
  10. Sorry, but that is an easy choice for a dad
  11. That was actually a neat thing and showed how the underlying AI had progressed over time. Once Delos realized William was old, he deduced that he did not survive whatever desease he had. Wheras in the previous iterations William had to lead him to that realization (ie piece of paper / the scripts). The breakdown only happened when Delos tried to asses his fitness level, ie. he could not say he was fit. This maybe due to the body is not compatible with his mind as shown by his hands shaking. Or his mind (or whatever approximation William created) could not comprehend how fit a robot host should be.
  12. Perhaps those were perscribed painkillers? You could be in pain (ie. broken bone) even when diseases (ie flu) have been eradicated
  13. MiB pushing Maeve to the edge happened several years prior to robot rebellion since she was still in the house in prairie narrative. Afterwards she was repurposed to be the madam at Sweetwater. Delos 149 happened after MiB's wife/Julliet killed herself (as he mentioned to Delos149) and in season 1 MiB said his wife killed herself just the previous year. So to me, the timeline is more or less: Julliet killed herself, MiB visited Delos149 and let him live, MiB went around WW in season 1 looking for next challenge, Ford told Bernard to clean up the facility where Delos149 was, Ford was killed / rebot rebellion, MiB started Ford's new game, Bernard was dragged by Clementine back to that facility, etc There is a good chance William's visit to Delos 149 happened at the same week as his WW visit in season 1, meaning it happened just a week before robot rebellion.
  14. At least in Black Mirror (I have not watched Altered Carbon), they assumed the tech to move minds (or to translate minds to code) was already there. In contrast, Westworld explore how hard it is to combine human mind / data and robotic body. It took William at least 20 years to put Delos Sr' mind to the new body and the hybrid still broke down whenever Sr tried to analyze how fit his robot body was. I am hoping the show would go to how Ford develop a different (but similar) tech to accomplish immortality. This would make Westworld show different since it explores on how to achieve immortality as supposed to what to do with immortality (a la Black Mirror).
  15. William's daughter's name is Emily. Since Grace called MiB dad at the end of episode, Emily = Grace
  16. So William was trying to build a fresh host and infuse 60(or whatever Delos' age) years of memory into it. On the other hand, Ford was building a bunch of hosts that retain supposedly wiped memories from the past 35 years. I do not think it is a coincidence Ford created a replica of his childhood (complete with home and family). I would not be surprised if Ford is grooming / creating a replica host of himself complete with his memories from the past 30 years or so. That way this new host of his would be ready to accept his most recent memory dump. I think William's daughter is going to be a surprise hybrid revealed at the end of season. But she is not going to be the only one. Per the above, Ford will be 1. And William might be 1 too, he just does not realize it and Ford is guiding him to this realization via the "game". Come to think of it, that memory core Bernard took could be William's (he came to WW often enough). Meaning MiB had been a host hybrid since he woke up the day after Ford was shot. Speaking of predictions (or was it a leak???), someone mentioned last week that Ghost nation was (re)programmed to protect guests. That is true too since Stubbs said they were keeping guests alive while killing other hosts. I love how Jimmy Simpson had a bit of white hair the 2nd time we saw him visit Delos Sr Also, we got to see the couple from season 1 who vacationed for the first time at WW. Last time, the husband got his picture taken with a corpse of outlaw he killed. They were captured by GN along with Emily :P I have a bad feeling about Elsie, just because Bernard said "everything is fine" right after he remembered he killed the techs. They could replicate a near human Delos 149 times, a bunch of furniture in a room is simple in comparison. One questions, the bodies used to build railroad were hosts right? Otherwise it would be a very weak railroad :P
  17. Bond World, definitely Bond World. Gadgets, super cars, and babes. Plus I can play as Goldfinger and hang around with Jaws and OddJob :D :D :D
  18. Possible, but I could not see Ford developing those kinds of narratives Heh, we talked about this last year during season 1. The best we could come up with was some kind of programmable bullets. However, I just could not see how that would work with bigger guns, like the one used to shoot the killer host in Rajworld. The bullets were 1/3 the size of that woman's hand and the gun pretty much tore part of the host's head. The physics just did not add up ;) I just did not think about it too much :P
  19. I think the fake world still needs to be familiar for the guests to be fully immersed. If the fake world contains some fantasy elements that do not exist in the real world, the guests' minds would automatically question the realness of the fake world. Like if I walk around in a jungle and a dragon lands in front of me, I would question if it is real. But if I see an animatronic tiger (fake but look real enough), my first instinct is to run away from danger.
  20. Funny, when I mentioned Rome/CaesarWorld the other day, I was imagining Roman civil war (legions vs legions), conquering britannia, taking over Egypt, gladiators uprising, or burning down Rome :D :D :D
  21. I like this series and watched everything in 1 weekend :P Both Zabka and Macchio worked well with each other. I like Miguel and the other kid characters. I enjoy how the show potrait how both the kids and adults characters learned from each other (a la Miyagi and Daniel in the movies), without making a big deal out of those scenes. I like how after the tournament, it started to sink for both Johnny and Miguel that it was lonely on the top without the ones they love. I think Daniel's life started to fall apart when Mr Miyagi died in 2011 (per tombstone). Timeline kind of fit. His daughter stopped doing karate with him about 8 years ago. Maybe at that point he stopped doing karate too. Probably he started to spoil his then 3 year old boy who became the 10 year old spoiled brat we saw. I wished the season had 1 or 2 more episode so it would have more time to slowly transform the Cobra Kai kids from normal kids to semi vicious. Having them vicious and mean in the tournament was a bit jarring. I would also give more time for Daniel to teach/mentor Robby. Also how did Sam learn her acrobatic moves? Those did not look like Miyagi-do. Did she take taekwondo class on the side ??? :P I hope this is addressed in season 2. I do not think Johnny realized that yeat. With Kresse coming back, perhaps Johnny will come to reconsider the "No Mercy" rule and then teach that lesson to Miguel.
  22. She did not have patience for "children" (ie. hosts that have not woke). Although my question is more along the line of strategy. As far as she knew there were 500-600 men coming to clean up the parks. There were less than 60 people storming the Colonel's fort. Why removed the Confederados now when she knew there would be 450+ more Delos men coming? As far as what happened. IIRC Colonel & most of his troops + some Dolores's people were outside of the gate, with cannons behind the barricades. At some point Dolores men came back to the fort and close the gate. When the Colonel realized they were losing to QA team, he ordered retreat but at that point he and his men were locked out of the gate. Dolores' men shot the Confederados on the gate and Dolores told Angela to blow up the nitros to kill QA team. The Captain and a few confederados stayed behind wall. He objected to the betrayal and was sent to execution wall for Teddy to kill. Dolores' men opened the gates and stab the bodies with their bayonets.
  23. The Confederados were bait to keep QA security team marching forward toward the explosives. I have not the faintest idea why the supposedly trained QA security team needed to march HEAD ON in a SINGLE group ON FOOT when they were equipped with automatic weapons, dune buggies, and explosives
