  1. Here's another piece on Benedict's Penguin panel: TV3: Expose Entertainment And a couple on his panel for the Hobbit: Geeks of Doom Radio Times And here's the "Best of Worst of ComicCon 2014" from HitFix, which has Benedict's two panels as two of the "Best"s
  2. But accelerate IS a real verb, just as brake and clutch are.
  3. I had no problem with Erin talking about her novel--for one thing, it's a major undertaking even to get that many words down, and more power to her for trying, it's all a learning experience. I say good for her. (And no, I'm not related to her.) And I agree with Gilmel, it's better to guess something on FJ than leaving it blank. (I got it wrong, too, I was stuck in the US!)
  4. Maybe if Moff sticks his fingers in his ears and holds his breath people will stop asking him to make more episodes of Sherlock per year?: From the Mirror--Sherlock would be OVER now if they made more episodes says Steven Moffat
  5. There are about a bazillion reports of Benedict's highly successful appearance at ComicCon yesterday--here, have a few: Hero Complex TIME Magazine Belfast Telegraph The Independent Movies World Jo Blo The Mirror And there's a 15-minute YouTube of his appearance there: *** In other news, you can enter to win a copy of a Benedict fan book at Crushable.com
  6. Yes, that is accurate--but the wonder is that we hang around and keep waiting, it's just that good.
  7. Wired has The Imitation Game as one of the week's best trailers.
  8. I'm looking forward to the movie as well, especially having done some design work on a book about Bletchley Park. And there's a bit more on BBCAmerica.com about the Madame Tussaud's "fitting".
  9. There is trailer for The Imitation Game: There's a slightly different trailer here. (This one's not YouTube, so I can't embed, or at least I don't know how to embed.) *** And from ITV: Benedict Cumberbatch: Finally I can 'photobomb' myself (as an exhibit at Madame Tussaud's).
  10. I started with Copernicus, but then second guessed myself with Galileo, because I didn't know the specific quote referenced in the clue and it could have referred to either. *shrug*
  11. The International Business Times has a nice interview/article with/about Benedict on their website.
  12. Benedict is going to be at ComicCon again this year, this time on a panel for Penguins of Madagascar.
  13. I got Evita easily because of the Che part of the clue. And I got FJ, not by knowing what chemical substance was described (because I didn't) but by thinking of a chemical substance that matched the other two parts of the clue. I was so sure! (I am also so sure sometimes when I'm dead wrong, so I know I can't go by that. ;))
  14. The reviews are in on Freeman's Richard III, and while Variety's is positive, the reviews as a whole are a mixed bag.
  15. The telephone number reminded me of nothing so much as rhythmic gymnastics.
  16. Here's an odd one, from CNET: If you ever wanted to see "Sherlock" translated into dresses and skin-tight leggings, then Gold Bubble's new collection should catch your eye.
  17. PopSugar has a video roundup of what Benedict has in the pipeline over the next few months. (It's somewhat incomplete, and there's nothing new there--but it is a new video.)
  18. From RTEten: Sherlock in running for TV Choice Awards (in the Best Drama Series category). ETA: And Benedict is up for Best Actor.
  19. I didn't get FJ (I said FBI but I knew that was wrong) and I really should have--I read a book about the Secret Service as a kid that I actually remember reading, so boo me.
  20. I don't think it's better, but how about a play on the line from "Where did We go Right" in The Producers: "If anyone jetéd we jetéd them out the door"?
  21. I notice that sometimes one rotation is done, and sometimes two. Does a double rotation count as a fouette as well?
  22. I read Lost Horizon multiple times in high school, so I knew Shangri-La right away. The wives of Henry VIII? Not so much.
  23. I don't know how to embed this, but there's a piece of an interview with Mark Gatiss on BBC Radio 4, talking about movie detectives.. (I never saw this film, but I have the book it's based on sitting on my shelves, and it's quite good.)
  24. It sounds like he has an interesting take on Richard, for sure. (OTOH, I read The Daughter of Time at an impressionable age and then made the mistake of actually doing the research, so probably it's just as well I can't see it--I always mumble angrily throughout Shakespeare's Richard III!) According to the Daily Mail (and a few other sites that wouldn't show their articles to non-subscribers), there is some disgruntlement at the mid-scene applause Martin's fans are bringing to the show. I understand their enthusiasm, but that could be annoying if you're trying to watch the play. (It's not a musical, where they expect applause mid-scene, after all. ETA: One London Theater Tickets, the director of Richard III says the whole thing is a non-issue, it only happened once, between scenes, in the first preview. (Who knows, I certainly couldn't afford tickets even were I in London!) And there's another review of Freeman in Fargo on Yahoo TV UK.
