  1. Some more video interviews: RTE Ten ContactMusic And a written interview in the Mirror. *** Maxine Peake is thrilled to be co-starring with Martin in the comedy film Funny Cow. (Did we know about Funny Cow? Should I know who Maxine Peake is?) *** Martin got a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a mini-series for Fargo (RadioTimes, full list.)
  2. We are going to be getting a lot more photos of Benedict in tuxes, that's clear! *** He was on yesterday's Nerdist Podcast. (It looks long so I haven't listened to it yet, I'm downloading it now.)
  3. VH1 has an interview clip up in which Martin talks about his upcoming SNL appearance. (No fanfic re: that last comment, please... ;D)
  4. OMG, that is the truth! (Some of the ACD mysteries are really jokes, aren't they? But no one cares, because they are awesome stories.) *** There's a description of Martin's appearance on Late Night with Seth Myers, as well as clips of Martin's bits, on the NBC website. Also on the NBC website is two-and-a-half minutes of Martin shooting SNL promos with Kate McKinnon. (I am so not into SNL any more that I have no idea who Kate McKinnon is.)
  5. All very well-deserved nominations! (Well, I'm going by the reviews on TIG.) ETA: Hitfix has reactions from nominees; Benedict is #5 in the gallery.
  6. I didn't know V--but I definitely knew My Favorite Martian (IIRC, it was on right before or right after Mr. Ed.) (Shut up, you rotten kids... ;) )
  7. I was pretty shocked that only one of the three got today's FJ--but then, I've been reading and rereading Sherlock Holmes since I was eight or nine.
  8. Thank you! (He clearly pwned Hoda/KL, but, then, he was up against unarmed opponents.)
  9. I have to say that I think that's something of an overstatement. I've watched all nine episodes numerous times, and I really, really, really don't see that--Oh, that Sherlock is fan fiction, certainly; even Mofftiss have said so outright. But homoerotic? Not from where I sit. And not from where the creatives sit, either: Moffat, Gatiss, and the actors have all said, more than once, that that is not something they see as part of the show's universe. So whatever you see--and all fiction interacts with its audience in unexpected ways, so it's valid for anyone see things that were not consciously put there--it is not ridiculous for Martin to feel otherwise, and certainly not scoff-worthy.
  10. And I missed both. :( Although it doesn't sound like I missed all that much. Of course, Today interviews would have to feature the SNL appearance heavily as it's the same network. Speaking of which, there were two relevant SNL tweets yesterday: here and here. Also, there's a "guest bio" for Martin on the Tonight Show website; apparently he's going to be on on Friday, going by the scrolly thing in the upper right of the header. There's quite a good Hobbit-centered interview with Martin on Movies.ie. I like how the last line of the intro para is "Movies.ie sat down with the actor, who was sporting a very impressive beard for his role as Richard III on the London stage, to find out how he feels now that THE HOBBIT is coming to an end..." and then the next line is the first question, which is "How do you feel now that THE HOBBIT is coming to an end?" It's one way to find out, I suppose...
  11. When I clicked the episodes tab, it said the date of the first broadcast of episode 1 is 10 Dec. 2014, but I suppose it might mean that's the first broadcast this time around? Aha! That must be it, because it is a repeat of a 2004 recording: http://www.radiotimes.com/episode/c9h9gg/the-surgeons-mate--episode-1 I still think he needs a vacation, though...
  12. Awwwww: What Benedict learned in 2014. (NPR) Raising the bar for fiancés everywhere.
  13. I mean to listen to Cabin Pressure, I always mean to... *** Surprise! Benedict is pleased and excited to be cast as Doctor Strange (really? I thought he'd be despondent): ComicBook.com MTV EntertainmentWise (There are more, but they say the same thing.) And then there's this video (also found on the pages of several of the links). It's at BIFA, and he starts talking about the Variety award he got, but Hey U Guys (and the links above) focus on the Doctor Strange thing: Among those reporting on the BIFA Variety Award (rather than Doctor Strange) were: the Mirror, which has a video that I hope is Benedict's acceptance speech, but it's just "loading" interminably for me; Hello! has photos as well as a story; and the Mirror has a second story reporting on Sophie's outfit at the event.
  14. Long, very Hobbit-focused interview with Martin by TheOneRing.net. (So no surprise that it was a very Bilbo-focused interview!) Martin (et al.) were on the Today Show this morning: Actors Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom and Martin Freeman join director Peter Jackson and NBC’s Keir Simmons to talk about “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” which concludes more than a decade of movie-making. That's a video there, although I can't get it to play for me, but if it's just what aired on the show, it's very short. On The Hobbit's Facebook there's a video in which The cast of #TheHobbit describes what it was like to go back to Middle-earth #OneLastTime. There are some bits from Martin, and fewer, shorter bits from Benedict as well.
  15. Another long video which I haven't had a chance to listen to yet--a LiveStream Q&A from Frontrunners/Fandango with Benedict about The Imitation Game: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2by5vh_live-stream-qa-with-benedict-cumberbatch-7-dec-2014_creation. *** Hollywood Take (a publication with which I am unfamiliar) analyzes Benedict's (and The Imitation Game's) Oscar chances. *** And apparently there are still some reporters/bloggers (BreakingNew.ie, JustJared) unaware that Benedict likes doing comedy.
  16. Both EW and MTV want everyone to realize that Benedict as Doctor Strange is awesomeness: 4 reasons why Benedict Cumberbatch is a perfect Doctor Strange (EW) Benedict Cumberbatch Is Doctor Strange: 9 Reasons To Celebrate This Magical Casting (MTV) *** The Telegraph has a video of Benedict talking about playing Classified and voicing animation in the Peng-wings of Madagascar.
  17. From the Belfast Telegraph: Hobbit stars reveal parting gifts. (Martin got quite a few! And Benedict said his present was being in the film.) *** From RadioTimes: Martin Freeman: "I prefer to bare all in nude scenes". He also talks about the homoerotic fan fiction engendered by Sherlock, which he's not entirely thrilled with.
  18. Ha! It sure seems to be. There were a whole slew of articles about the Doctor Strange casting (Time, People, Us, all of them), but they don't really add anything to the announcement.
  19. Another Imitation Game interview, this one from the San Francisco Chronicle: No 'Imitation’: Benedict Cumberbatch portrays code-breaker Turing *** From People: Benedict was named Tumblr's "Most reblogged actor of 2014" on Tuesday. There's a little video of him thanking the Tumblr-folk, but I don't know where he posted it originally. *** Who is Danny Dyer, and just how badly is his career going that he feels the need to try to create a conflict between himself and Benedict? (from the Telegraph)
  20. From USA Today: Martin Freeman on being an 'SNL' newbie. (Um, Martin? I think slightly more than 18 New Yorkers know who you are. Also, nationally-aired show. You'll be fine.) *** Martin seems to have done a series of interviews for the release of the Hobbit film... E Online has video of Martin talking ending the series and not having read the books as a child. 3News (from New Zealand) has video of has a 4-minute video about being part of the Hobbit films and character analysis. Malay Online has a video with brief interviews with various cast members interspersed with short film clips. And there's a long print interview with Martin on the Khaleej Times website; he talks Hobbit.
  21. This is 49 minutes long, and I haven't watched it yet. Benedict Cumberbatch, Channing Tatum & Top Actors Discuss Oscar Roles: The Full Actors Roundtable: ETA: I just watched it and it is WELL worth the 49 minutes, IMO.
