However, I never had a problem with Dean killing the murderers, as they were as big of monsters as any vampire, demon or witch, just not of the supernatural variety, and in this instance, it's not like they could be successfully prosecuted and jailed for like/executed. Yeah, as the founder of the YKYWH association, but speaking only for myself, what Pete Martell said. I don 't enjoy watching Dean torture someone, but I do find it attractive when he shows power and strength, much of which is only shown through Jensen's acting talent. I'm not advocating that it's a good idea, or saying I'm happy about it, and it's restricted to a fictional situation and character, but there it is. In my defense, I also find goofy, silly, intense, sad, happy, etc. Dean attractive, so....

I blame Glee, myself. They've done both Sweet Caroline and Don't Stop Believing. And to bring this back to Supernatural, while they've never used it, "Blaze of Glory" by Bon Jovi might as well have been written with this show in mind. The lyrics are so very Supernatural, it's uncanny. Here are a few lines: "I don't know where I'm going, only god knows where I've been; I'm the devil on the run, a six gun lover, a candle in the wind........You ask me bout my conscience, well I offer you my soul; you ask if I'll grow to be a wise man, well I ask if I'll grow old........I'm going down in a Blaze of Glory, Take me now, but know the truth. Possibly my favourite ep: Nightshifter. Take it away, less technologically challenged ones!

Aeryn, while I respect your view of the writer's take on Dean, and perhaps you were exaggerating for effect in the above quote, but I'm afraid I see it quite differently. I've never felt that writers/showrunners hate a particular main character or resent the popularity of a character or set out to destroy or marginalize or beat down a character in some subversive plot to make the character less appealing or deliberately piss off a section of fandom. Aside from the fact that Dean and Sam are fictional creations of the writers and can only do what is scripted for them, the show needs fans to survive, so why would the showrunner set out to discourage anyone from watching. It goes against their best interests. And as I believe the role of a writer is very different from the role of a fan, (although one person can be both), writers don't have to be fans of Dean or Sam or Castiel or whoever to write (a hopefully good) storyline/episode for them. It's an interesting question to ponder: If the writers don't like Dean, and don't understand why he would have fans, and never give him any good storylines and just make him play second fiddle to super-special Sam, it's hard to understand how Dean Winchester become such a popular character in the first place.

Gah, Sammy/Jared looks so young in that Route 666 picture. I don't really notice very often how much some men change in their physical appearance during their twenties, but this is a prime example of the boyz to men.

This episode was a frustrating combination of crap and gold. Everything with Sam and Dean and Metatron was enjoyable but everything with Claire and Rowena sucked badly. Her manipulations are so obvious I can't believe anyone would fall for them, especially the so-called king of Hell and an experienced crossroads demon. And I really, truly, deeply, loathe the convenience of Rowena just happening to work the spell at just the right time to overhear the important piece of information about where Crowley is keeping the first blade. And I honestly, completely and utterly hate how Croley just blurted out where he's got the blade for no other reason than the plot wanted Rowena to know. There is zero reason that Crowley would ever tell the Winchesters where it was especially considering it's with his bones which, if burned, will destroy him. And I'm afraid I must call an immediate emergency meeting of the You Know You Want Him: Learning To Lust Without Fear (YKYWH) club. Because scary, threatening Dean was also hot, melty Dean and I think I need my support group to reassure me that it's okay.

Don't go to therapy, the doctor just won't understand, and may put you in an institution. Besides, who really wants to be cured, anyway?

Well, whether they do it as a backdoor pilot or just as a one-of, I'd still love to see Aaron and the Golem return!

I always assumed that the black-and-white flashbacks, aside from being true to the time of the flashback, were also a tribute to the movie wizard of Oz as the Kansas parts were black-and-white and only the Oz parts were Technicolor. And I cannot forgive this episode for failing to show Dean finding the garage full of classic cars and totally losing his mind with geeky lust and gear head appreciation.

While Pac Man Fever is not my favorite episode, I somehow seem to be unable to vote against it. My thoughts on the next rounds.... Season 10 won't have finished all it's eps before we finish season 9, which will be starting in the next couple of days. My suggestion, therefore, is once we're done 9, we do writers, directors, guest stars, etc until season 10 finishes broadcasting, then do season 10, then do a battle combining the last surviving five eps from each season's game for the epic showdown for the Supernatural soul survivor. -- Tiger -- Goodbye Stranger + Everybody Hates Hitler In memorializing What's Up, Tiger Mommy?, all I can really say is Mrs. Tran was one of their better characters, but she never would have been in jeopardy if Kevin had just left her alone, like Dean told him to. Goodbye Stranger was one of the few Season 8 eps which didn't suck, and had one of the most jaw dropping opening scenes of the series, with Killer Castiel the warehouse full of Dead Deans.
