  1. Side note, "like this amazing woman..." Smooth, Colt :-D
  2. I honestly wish they'd just let Maddie perform to her heart's content because she's easily the second best singer on the show and she's got stage presence.
  3. Ridiculously enough... This was the first Nashville episode of the season I did not feel the urge to fast-forward through. In fact, it's the first one where I found myself pausing and even replaying some scenes before making it to the end. Well, alright, I did fast-forward the Luke song because that was just an atrocity. First, the stuff with Gunnar and Erin may have beenn cheesy as hell but I'm positively astonished they managed to find a girl it seemed he had any kind of spark with apart from Scarlett. I know it's just a placeholder silliness but I didn't really mind it. Well, maybe apart from the ridiculous car make-out stuff. Oh, and Gunnar actually had decent hair! Second, I enjoyed the hell out of the Juliette and Maddie duet. It was a perfect move to have them sing one of the first, "teeny-pop" songs together, one that Maddie had actually sung with his sister. I also have zero problem with Maddie and Colt getting it on. I guess it kinda stems a little from me being Swedish and us over here having very relaxed views on premarital and casual sex, the age of consent only being fifteen and me having lost my virginity at a relatively young age with no ill effects. Them sleeping together after they've dated for months really didn't feel either rushed or reckless. Sometimes you've got to take the plunge. Maddie with the "you're not as cool as she is" talk, though, seriously over the top. Third, I didn't mind Scarlett's breakdown at all. Frankly I thought it was perfectly justified. Fourth, I had no problem with Layla's declaration of love for Jeff in front of Rayna. Do I think she's misguided, yes, but in a way I can see where it's coming from and it doesn't seem out of left field. Yes, Jeff is a cynical bastard that probably belongs in prison but the relationship doesn't exactly creep me out to the level I see some of the fans saying, and it does make a decent job of showing that there might actually be a human being underneath that disgusting facade, and that Layla might actually be a positive influence on him. Her song totally sucked, though, and it was mostly because her voice didn't suit it. There have actually been some songs of hers I've been okay with in the past.
  4. It's a huge ass knife. If it's heavy enough and sharp enough anyone can cleave an arm with it.
  5. I actually just wanted to ridicule the writers of the show for making a new mother who is actually suffering from PPD act out an over-the-top version of the disorder on-screen where the mother of the child is throwing a heavy object at the husband and her newborn baby. I don't think that is very classy. It would be poetic justice when it comes to them if Hayden never returned to the show, but obviously the priority here must be the happiness and good health of the actress.
  6. Side note, can anyone think of another show that's assassinated a main character so thoroughly it's driven the actress to a mental hospital?
  7. Well, they kinda did threaten to force her into prostitution unless she helped them out...
  8. Sorry, they need to have Juliette get Jeff killed first.
  9. I agree. I'd also like to point out that the over-the-top overacting villains are perfectly in character for a show like this. Those villains serve as the precursor to the masked villains. I think it's hysterically funny when idiot reviewers complain about James Frain's "bad acting". It's like they are completely blind to the show's intentions. I guess it's sort of fashionable to bash this show. Half the reviewer force and half the DC fandom does it. It's too bad for them, really. It's actually a very easy show to enjoy.
  10. I enjoyed the episode but sorta missed Bruce. I guess next episode he'll meet Selina who will tell him to go fuck himself for ratting her out to Alfred, and then the episode after that she'll spy on him smooching with Silver and get hyper-jealous.
  11. Anyone mentioned that Hayden has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the show to check into a rehab clinic for her PPD? I don't know what to say. Just that I am completely incensed by these worthless hacks writing a PPD storyline so over-the-top and insensitive that it likely has contributed to her personal real life problems. Like so many others have said before me this isn't even PPD, it's simply Juliette behaving like a psychotic asshole. How anyone in their right mind would write a scene where a person who has just given birth to a child would have to throw a heavy object at a newborn baby is beyond me.
  12. Since I honestly think the subject of the Alfred/Selina interaction is really sensitive and also highly dependant on each character's moral core I have tried to avoid branding it and handing out red and yellow cards. If I were to describe my attitude in one sentence it would be that Alfred's actions as well as Selina's were wrong but understandable. I wrote an analysis on the subject that you can find here: http://kathemy.tumblr.com/post/131340115141/the-punch
  13. Well, Lily Salvatore has to die. Actually, that's not even enough. She needs to be slowly tortured to death over a period of no less than three months.
  14. Cool, time to pick up a new placeholder love interest for Gunnar! I can't wait!
  15. Truth be told, I think this is the breaking point. The show is losing viewers like a leaking bucket in a desert. They've pulled bullshit after bullshit move on us for two years and people have finally had it. I wouldn't be surprised to see their audience cut in half over the season.
  16. Well, if we include the Cyrano twist this week I've been right about every single point on my year-old checklist for S/G thus far. I fast-forwarded most of the episode because it sucked so bad it wasn't worth watching and we got no good songs either. ETA, "ratings bonanza?" You do know how this show is scoring, right? :D
  17. The actress playing Silver is 15. David is 14. Also I don't think we can conclude Theo is sleeping with his sister out of one fleeting remark that was obviously designed to gross the vice-mayor out. It's not like I would object to it, however.
  18. Sheesh the Selina moments totally broke my heart. Like, totally. I can see where they are going with this and now Selina will probably tell Bruce to go to hell or something, but at the same time, that final scene... It's like, now we see she's really in love with him, and she knows she's in love with him, so she'll probably go obsessive. Like someone above me said, you don't tell a teenager not to see your crush, that'll just make her want it even more. Then we'll unfortunately have to deal with the silly Silver triangle, but I expect that to pass. One way or the other Bruce and Selina are getting back together, I think that's a given. I'm conflicted about the punch. On one hand, it just hurt me. Like, a lot. On the other hand, Selina did murder Reggie, and even if there were extenuating circumstances, those don't just erase that act. He didn't turn her in. He just punched her. Once. Nobody seems to have had a problem with Alfred telling Bruce how to knock that kid in season one senseless using his father's watch as brass knuckles. This is a comic book show, they can't have Cat arrested, but there has to be some consequence to her actions. Right or wrong, Alfred is treating her exactly like he'd treat a boy her age in that situation. Also, yeah, Theo basically signed his own death sentence in this episode. He just doesn't know it yet. The "normal" Penguin would've had a ton of schemes going in a situation like that but kidnapping his mother paralyzed him. When he recovers from that, he'll slowly but surely take Theo and his little gang apart.
  19. Nah, it's not Caroline. In that case the mute heretic wouldn't have had an identical scar.
  20. Copy-pasting from my tumblr... Gotham Review #02 #03 “The Last Laugh” For @camrenbicondova et al… So, the lovely miss Bicondova asked us what we tumblr people thought of tonight’s episode, and since it’s already quite clear I won’t get any sleep, I figured I might answer. Please note that this is a super-spoilery review discussing not only the episode in full but also potential further ones so if you’re not into that, please bugger off ;-) The plot of the episode is pretty straight-forward. Theo Galavan decides to set himself up as a hero, so he has his stooges - Barbara and Jerome - hijack a charity party, murder a couple of people and threaten Bruce’s life, after which he saves mister Wayne by killing Jerome and Barbara disappears. That’s basically it. First of all I’d like to say I really like the tone of the show so far in the second season and I prefer it to the first. At some times, the first season threatened to go into villain-of-the-week territory a la Smallville. I feel the story here is more coherent and better for setting up the factions and players. The tone has also changed in that it has gone into more over-the-top comic book territory, and it suits the show well. The violence is brutal and effective and I actually believe they’ve done a decent job at catching a whiff of the feel of Tim Burton’s adaptation. That’s a plus since in the directing category that was marvellous. Now, there’s been a fair deal of outrage about the show killing off Jerome. I can’t really agree with the cries of horror. It is vital for the Joker character that he is unknown, thus they really had to sell that he was dead. I doubt we’ve seen the last of Cameron. He nailed the role and he’s also in the correct age range to portray the character as he, David and Camren grow up. I don’t think they’ll let his obvious talent go to waste. Before everyone goes, “but, but… he is dead…” See above. This is a comic book show. Bizarre plot twists come with the territory. Do I know how they’ll swing it? Nope, not a clue. I just think they will. Frain’s deliberate overacting selling the hero part was absolutely hilarious, especially when you know what a strong performer he really is. It’s simply another move to get into the old-school cartoon feel. Jerome killing the vice-mayor was obviously deliberate. I’d suspect Theo’s setting himself up for the post. Alfred hitting on Lee was supremely embarrassing. I had a really time watching it… my face goes all red from scenes like that… which obviously meant it was well done. Wish I’ll stop cringing in my seat soon. Bruce to Selina, “I’ve missed you.” Well, we’ve certainly all missed their interaction, I think. Just my opinion, but Bruce only really feels complete with Selina and in another sense with Alfred, and vice-versa, Selina only feels like the real Selina with him. The actors bring out the best in each other.
  21. Again that totally depends on when they do said jump, exactly how long it will be and how old David will be able to look at age, say, eighteen or nineteen. I think recasting would be a huge mistake.
  22. To be quite honest it would be no major problem to put Mazouz into the Batman costume towards the end of the show. You could sell a young Batman age 18 to 20. It's mostly about how he'll grow up. Those kids tend to get big fast. It seems we're forgetting that. If this show makes it to season six, I'd expect it to veer into real Batman territory.
