  1. I have to disagree. A basically normal woman wouldn't sleep with Ricky on the first date and claim to fall in love with him within days.
  2. Yeah, that was my thought too. That was an act and she's not going anywhere. Him going on a date with Melissa before "choosing" her is not a big deal to a green card prowler. Every woman on ColombianCupid is chatting with multiple American guys and every American guy on the site is chatting with multiple Colombian chicks.
  3. Before this episode I never understood the stuff about Paul being a volatile, house burning stalker. I also didn't understand the segments where Karine said he was verbally cruel to her, because I hadn't seen that. Now I get it. When she said she wanted a divorce, he wasn't sad, he wasn't devastated. He was angry. "How dare you do this to me after I've spent so much money." The psycho side came out.
  4. She does dress well, but I didn't like her horizontal stripes. But I don't like horizontal stripes on any woman, I don't think they are flattering except on super thin chicks.
  5. I thought it was really crass and creepy for Dean, who knows Hazel and Tarik aren't having sex, to say "I hope you're enough woman for him in the bedroom this weekend" or however he put it. That might be enough to coerce Hazel to immediately do the sex with Tarik, she's terrified that Tarik won't "choose" her to go to America based on what Dean says.
  6. Ricky is a schmuck. It's bad form to seek out women from poor countries, send them money like you're their white knight, have sex with them, buy them dresses like you're a big shot, and then sit them down and say "I want to be sure you're not a whore who is only with me for money." And why is he so nervous to tell Ximena about Melissa? Has he never watched this show? There's absolutely nothing the older American dude can say to the younger, more attractive, green card hunting woman from a developing country that will make her want to end the relationship. I don't see how the Jon-Rachel relationship has any future, if he's prohibited from entering the USA and she can't move to the UK. How are they going to overcome that? Maybe the embassy isn't as strict with K-1 visa applicants who have criminal records as it is with intended tourists who have criminal records. For those not familiar with the exchange rate, when Hazel said she is in contact with her ex because he owes her 4,000 pesos and she needs the money, that's the equivalent of 80 dollars. That's sad. It's also sad that Karine's dad seems to own only one shirt. And that Paul's wedding suit was previously worn by Chris Kattan in "A Night at the Roxbury."
  7. No one would be hating on Dean if his interrogation and comments were focused on "How can you be in love with someone you just met in real life and only chatted with online for a few weeks, you're interested in him because he's American, right?" That's a reasonable Margarita Bev-type line of attack on a foreign gold digger to protect your sibling from making a stupid mistake. But Dean was way out of line commenting that Hazel not living with her son was a "character flaw." And absurdly, Dean then kept saying that his treatment of Hazel was respectful. To be honest though, if I met an American woman who had a child but didn't live with the child, I'd think it was pretty weird and she must be a drug addict or bad parent. But in poor Asian countries, it's very common for children to be raised by whatever member of the extended family is best suited to raise them (whoever has free time and money). I meet a lot of single mothers in Cambodia, Philippines, Thailand, etc. who work in restaurants or um, sleazy bars, and very often their kids are living in the countryside with the grandparents while the young mother is working in the city and sending money home for the kids and grandparents. I also know white guys who live in these countries and are married to local women and they very often end up with the wife's nieces and nephews living with them, because the white guy and wife are wealthier than the rest of the wife's family. There just isn't the same focus on the "nuclear family" in some of these poorer Southeast Asian countries like we are used to in the USA. Now to Ricky and Ximena. Why is she so fucking desperate? I guess because she's 27 and she may live hours from a major city and speaks no English. She was online fishing for an American husband, but her options would be limited if she doesn't speak English. Someone suggested above that she's a hooker, I didn't get that vibe, but why go on a TV show and tell the guy you just met you want him to sleep with you? Colombia isn't Venezuela, parts of it are nice, she shouldn't be that desperate to sleep with and marry the first American putz she meets.
  8. Maybe it wasn't that much. I'm surprised she wouldn't string him along a bit just to keep the money flowing. But maybe that's why she at least showed up for the dinner.
  9. Well, in Ricky's defense, the love of his life refuses to video chat with him or return his texts. I don't see her withholding sex very long. She agreed to stay with him at the condo, she was pretty quick to agree to him sleeping in the bed with her with the "barrier," she agreed to kiss him. She wants out of the Philippines, which means marrying him, which means having sex. I don't see her saying no to Tarik on anything.
  10. Rachel's got the dead eyes. She's into Tarik exactly as much as Jenny is into Larry. And do Larry and Tarik have the same travel agent? Tarik said he had five connections (that would be six flights), maybe he meant five flights. That's still too many. And Bangkok is a pretty far overshoot that you then have to double back to Manila from. There would have been a bunch of reasonable itineraries from even a Podunk airport to Regional Airport to LAX to Tokyo/Hong Kong/Taipei to Manila. That's four flights, assuming you can't fly from your home airport direct to LAX or San Francisco. Saving $50 - $100 on a flight by choosing a circuitous routing with 3 + airlines is just really stupid and leads to lost luggage, f'cked up connections, etc. They gotta stop doing this. Tarik doing the whole "What's going on? The condo I booked only has one bed? I had no idea" thing was a classless move. I don't know why in the world Jon and Rachel would have sex on the first night after she flew 12 hours and drove for three hours and then spent another four hours having tea with Jon's mom and watching him reach into the empty crib over and over agin for no apparent reason. Let the woman sleep.
  11. He's really short. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it factors into how desirable women find him and what kind of woman he could reasonably get in the UK.
  12. I don't know the details behind Jon's criminal convictions, but I have a few comments. In some English cities and towns, fighting on a weekend night after the pubs close is very common. I wouldn't disqualify an Englishman juts for having an assault conviction or two when he was 19-20 years old. However, in my experience, people with criminal convictions rarely tell the truth about them. They always claim the were the victim, they were acting in self-defense, there was a misunderstanding, they were defending the honor of a woman, they only pled guilty because their crappy lawyer recommended it, etc. No one ever says "Oh, I was a violent thug!" England also has a separate type of serious assault charge called "GBH" for "grievous bodily harm" and it sounds like at least one of his convictions was for that. What you need to do is get copies not just of the person's rap sheet, but of the underlying police reports describing what happened. He could have been mugging old ladies for all she knows.
  13. Chris and Nikki go wherever the cameras go. Yeah, I guess this explains his smirking and not giving a sh*t attitude last week when Molly was melting down and re-evaluating her relationship with him. He already has the green card marriage in the bag. I loved this line. I've met a lot of Thai/Cambodian bargirls/hookers. The ones working in bars where Western guys go are working there "voluntarily," though of course they have extreme pressure to support there families and few other employment options. They can come and go as they please, etc. Many Western guys who would never consider dating or marrying a hooker in their own countries will do so in Thailand. The best way I can explain it is to suggest that in the USA, only a "bottom 1%" troubled woman will end up working as a hooker, because American women have many other employment opportunities. Whereas in Thailand, a seemingly "normal" young woman, who is pretty, and polite, and has all her teeth, can end up working at a hooker bar because it's either that or live in squalor in her village harvesting rice and watching her parents suffer in poverty with health problems they can't afford to treat. Of course, I personally go to Thailand and Cambodia "for the temples."
  14. I agree with some of what you're saying here. I agree that nothing Ashley said could have deterred Annie from getting married, just like nothing Karine learned about Pole could have stopped that wedding. I agree Annie doesn't love David and is only marrying him for the prospect of a better life. He could get drunk again well before the wedding, cheat on her, and she'd "forgive" him and still marry him. Her occasional statements of "if you get drunk/don't pay dowry then maybe we don't get married" are just empty bluffs. There would be great shame if she went back to her village without getting married, she would be viewed as a failure, and someone the great white American man must have rejected. She'll marry him no matter what just to avoid that shame, and the disappointment from her mother that she failed in her plan to live in America and send money to the family. However, I disagree with the notion that Annie's plan is to wait two years, get her green card/citizenship and dump David for someone else. That was Anfisa's plan, and Muhammit's plan, but not hers. Her expectations are lower. She just wants a quite life with a husband who doesn't beat her and who can send $200 a month back to her mom. Women like Annie, from poor Southeast Asian villages, don't have high self esteem and most don't have an independent streak or the confidence or worldiness necessary to jettison their American husbands and live their own lives in America. Now maybe two years down the road she'll be more Americanized and more confident and maybe she'll meet gold-digging Thai women in America who take her under their wing and teach her about divorce laws and alimony payments, and maybe she'll meet a younger, richer, better looking dude than David who falls for a (by then) chubby ex-hooker from Thailand. In which case she certainly could leave David for that other guy. But I don't think that's her plan right now.
  15. Maybe while he was cheating on their mother with prostitutes she was cheating on him with Carrot Top.
  16. I loved it when David's daughter told Annie, the younger Thai woman he met in a Bangkok bar, that David frequents prostitutes, and she had to act shocked. And then she said she had to start over with David by asking "What your name? Where you from?" which are the standard questions that Thai bargirls/hookers ask customers 50 times a night.
  17. Why would she be ordered back to the Philippines? Also, I think she would be adjust her status a lot faster than that.
  18. In defense of Josh (I can't believe I just wrote that) Aika is insisting on a $13,000+ , 2 carat ring. That's the equivalent of about 3-4 years pay for the average Filipino. And when the storekeeper mentioned the price, she said, with a straight face, that it wasn't so expensive. Josh giving her the ex-wife's ring was a classless move, but she has more than a bit of Anfisa in her with her financial demands to be "taken care of." Being a 36 year old tattooed ex-bargirl and living in a shack with your impoverished parents in a remote village in the Philippines is not a good life. Her reasons for marrying him are just as self-serving as his reasons for marrying her.
  19. For what it's worth, it's very common for long term expats in Cambodia and Thailand to die of "natural causes" in their 50s. Basically they drink and whore themselves to death.
  20. Good point, my guess is the fiancee visa has already been approved, and it can't be revoked it the financial sponsor later loses (or quits) his job.
  21. Larry has lost his mind. He quit his Mcdonald's job and is selling everything he owns to move into an RV and drive across America, and he thinks he can earn a living posting youtube videos about it. Jenny's dream, undoubtedly, is to have a nice house and kids. She doesn't want to spend 24 hours a day cooped up in an RV with Larry, he will drive her nuts.
  22. As a denizen of sleazy bars in Southeast Asia, I can answer this. The girls working in these bars speak "Bargirl English." They say things like "Me go with you" "Him good man," "Today happy happy," etc. Some American and British guys who hang out in these bars decide that the best way to communicate with these girls is to parrot their bargirl English back to them. It's incredibly annoying, when I'm just trying to drink myself into a stupor while ogling scantily clad impoverished young Thai women, to have to listen to the dude on the barstool next to me chatting up girls and saying stuff like "Tomorrow. I go Philippines. Same same Thailand." And then in the rare scenario when one of these guys meets an educated, fluent English speaking Thai woman, like when's introduced to the Thai wife of a friend who didn't marry a hooker, he will still speak to that educated Thai woman in bargirl English, leading to her thinking he's a f*cking idiot.
  23. Righto. They have it for sale on the counter at the ubiquitous 7-11s all over Bangkok. Or you can buy it from street vendors if you're too lazy to step into a 7-11. It's called "zeagra" and imported from India. You have to be careful not to buy the counterfeit pills though, and . . . oh never mind . . . I'm disgusting.
  24. Moldova isn't in the EU though, which is part of why it's so poor and many of its citizens want out. Chisinau, the capital, is a fairly nice place, if you have money to spend for comfort. The rest of the country is pretty poor and backwards.
  25. These are great questions. The big tattoo on the back of her leg (and she may have other tattoos I forget) suggest "bargirl" to me. If her breasts are as fake as her eyelashes, then someone must have paid for those. It's surprising if she has no kids, Filipinas are pretty baby crazy and condom averse. Many of your prettier and savvier Asian bargirls will have multiple "sponsors," i.e. boyfriends who just fly in to see them a few times a year but send them money all year long. It's possible she has just been a "professional girlfriend" for a while but now wants to settle down in the USA.
