  1. I'm wondering if NF or the writers are Orphan Black fans. About 20 minutes in the Scrabble word was Dyad. I'm claiming it as a generic scifi Easter egg if nothing else.
  2. I didn't turn it off, but it was not fun to watch. The Christ-like imagery of Stephen's dad in the machine was somewhat mitigated by it being even more reminiscent of Peter on Fringe. Couldn't Stephen and Cara have used a couple of burner phones to let them know they succeeded? It was fun to see Jedikiah parting traffic like the Red Sea. So, is he Moses now?
  3. Good catch. Even though he does give the evil vibe, I'm guessing he took the blood to cure his Leukemia after seeing what happened under the microscope. I had thought it evaporated because I used to accuse my teenage daughter of not refilling the ice cube trays, and then after she went away to college I realized they were just evaporating. On Star-Crossed they have a similar plot point in that the Atrians' blood can cure human cancer, so there's this plot afoot by soulless doctors to make them and the healed humans into "lab rats." The Tomorrow People has a similar theme as well, and Believe isn't that far removed either.
  4. Thanks, Dani-Ellie. Wow, Dorothy sure does look like Henry!
  5. Tonight on Castle there was an ongoing Scrabble game, and about 20 minutes in. Castle played the word DYAD--which the closed captioning spelled with all caps, as we've seen it lately for Orphan Black. He said it means "two people talking." There are other meanings, including genetics-related, but Orphan Black's DYAD also an acronym, for what? Although Castle is a simple crime procedural with romantic comedy subplot, Nathan Fillion, who plays Castle, is well known for science fiction roles in Firefly and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and in Castle his character is a scifi fan, so I like to think this is a true Orphan Black Easter egg in the episode. Great article above, Willowy, especially:
  6. Cattitude, yes, that's what I meant to imply.
  7. My take was that Peter endorsed Finn because he thought it would make Alicia appreciate him. This seems headed for a backfire in several ways, not the least of which could be that Finn seems possibly headed for a nervous break down (or whatever they're calling it these days).
  8. In the cabin scene, right after Rachel got shot (and died for the 2nd time) after trying to overpower the psycho guy with the gun, with her baby daddy in the cabin after the trained federal agent told him repeatedly to stay outside, after the local sheriff with no backup lost his gun to the psycho, I was almost sure I saw a CGI thought bubble above Bellamy's head with the words, "That does it. I am getting out of this f'd up town with all these crazy white people." And then, in a subsequent scene, he appears to be trying to do just that. But then one of those crazy white people (Rachel 3.0) appears in the middle of the road right in front of him. So maybe Omar Epps, who had already scene the entire script back when they did the cabin scene, really was thinking what I thought Bellamy was.
  9. Every time Bo said, "I LOVE horses!" I kept picturing the writers sitting around asking each other: What do 10 year old girls love? And then they were thinking of Bo's gambling abilities, and, Bingo. A race horse. The fibbie lady actually explained that they picked them up through facial recognition software. I'm sure they borrowed it from Bones or CSI. I'm not sure if this is a shark jumping moment, or if they are just laying the ground work for a MST3K direction of the show.
  10. Every time I hear it, I wonder if they go back now, will they still have that gorgeous piece of real estate that would cost 20 bail bonds persons' salaries per month. And even as annoying as it is whenever Emma or Henry says it, it is very realistic. I have an adult daughter who went to NYC for college and is still there at 30. I think talking about how great a place NYC is to live is actually a necessary psychological defense mechanism if one is going to live there. And I suspect New Yorkers usually keep their hearts in train station lockers to prevent loss due to mugging, but that's a metaphor on a Brooklyn Bridge too far to nowhere. I found it oddly satisfying that Philip and Aurora became winged monkeys; to me they never seemed to have personalities anyway.
  11. I've gotten used to all the fairy magic induced retcons on this show, but I could not quite understand how Snow, looking like a 10-month pregnant Ginnifer Goodwin, could possibly pump blood for herself and a baby with only half a heart. </end of mother-of-3 rant> If Emma can't forgive Hook, I'm sure there are plenty of other damsels who will. Yeah, what preteen boy wouldn't be thrilled to find out Mom is dating Robin Hood?Well, actually, it would at least take the edge off of Mom dating period. But isn't Henry going to need some sessions with Dr. Hopper to resolve his confused Mommy issues? I mean, he still has memories of 12 years in New York and Storybrooke, right?
  12. I hadn't thought about it earlier, but the current thinking on sexual preference is that it is biological rather than a choice--quite a few folks consider this to be a political hot button. This might be why Rachel was so surprised. So maybe all of the clones would be gay if they weren't so uptight? Or maybe that's another purpose of throwing in the mirror image discussion--it allows them to be opposites. I wonder if they were all twins in their respective wombs, but Helena and Sarah are the only complete pairs to survive. So is Helena gay? If so, it's a good thing Tomas got nailed (literally) this week, 'cause I don't think he'd approve.
  13. LOL! If the writers don't realize the whole audience feels that way by now, well, they must be smoking something that effects short and long term memory. To be fair, in this episode, Ollie finally denied that had happened in a fairly loud voice (before he got interrupted). And they did throw the audience a bone in showing that Slade is getting his info from an imaginary friend.
  14. That's what I'm thinking. I just theorized on the last episode thread that Cosima's lack of heterosexual experience will become an important point if she gets pregnant after using the differences of Sarah's DNA to cure herself. And thank you Snarkette for the SAT word to describe it. That's what I like about these and the TWoP boards: There are people who know about and share things I wouldn't otherwise encounter.
  15. Rethinking this: Aside from it being a fun exchange, it could be a bit of foreshadowing that Cosima's sexual orientation might become important--like what if she uses Sarah's DNA difference to cure herself, and, in the process, becomes fertile, and has a child without ever having had any sperm come anywhere near her reproductive parts. You know, like a clone.
  16. A lot of posters have remarked here and elsewhere about this change. I interpret it to mean that Cosima has lost all trust in Delphine, but it could also indicate that Delphine is just not really that into Cosima. Sarah drove past her in the truck. Mrs. S was holding the shotgun flat across her body, pointing skyward. To me, that indicates she survived.
  17. Leaving Alison behind is both a bold move and probably a wise one for the story to take. The cab of the truck would've been crowded and the hijinks would've had to overflow into silly territory. Still, if they'd had a crew cab truck... So, will Helena be fertilized the old fashioned way or by the animal husbandry method? Not sure I want to see either, but they did a good job of not making the hand staking gratuitous, so I'll trust them for now. I'm guessing the young nail gun guy will be the sperm donor since science dictates that younger is better, although maybe not, since he doesn't seem too bright. I think this tells us that he hasn't been a monitor very long. Maybe Aynsley was her monitor and he's a recent replacement? Perhaps he had debts and they made him an offer he couldn't refuse?
  18. Ooohh. I was thinking alternate universes. But then, not on this show.
  19. Hmmm. Does that mean the lighter colored branch on the time travel tree hologram was "dead"?
  20. This show could go a lot of ways. They could get the Ark repaired, but run out of enough handwavium to send more folks down to earth.
  21. I like Claire Coffee when she's doing the comic relief. I wish they could develop her story so she could just do that. I've always hated her woge face--which I saw way too much of in this episode. I guess since she has such a cute, girl-next-door look, they figured they had to make her other face 10 times uglier than the average bear/wessen.
  22. Can I get some good thoughts too? I have an emotionally abusive, psycho boss and am too old to change jobs. But now, without recaps to read or a strict 15 page forum rule to adhere to, I am polishing my resume anyway. ETA: mindbird, what is the picture you have for your avatar/icon? It's really pretty.
  23. No, it is a heroin packet. I just checked because I had totally missed it the first time having watched on my 22" TV from 12' away. The card with the phone number was larger, and the logo was also proporitionately larger. In the text of the original story (bakerstreet.wikia.com/wiki/Story_Text:_The_Man_with_the_Twisted_Lip) "twisted lip" is part of disguise of a wealthy man who earns his money pretending to be a beggar. At the beginning of the same story, Watson finds Holmes disguised in an opium den where he is trying to get information. Maybe there is hope that our Sherlock is only keeping the heroin packet for a similar purpose--to convince drug dealers that he is outside the law.
  24. Couch Sweet Potato, I added more that you suggested, even though I too had ruled them out for similar reasons, just in case there are time travel effects that we didn't consider. Are you able to change your vote to one of Julian's followers? If not, I could try eliminating the None of the Above category to see if it lets you make a new selection.
