  1. It sure was. Also good synergy with Grimsburg. I guess Dennis and the Penis Cloud were here in place of Alanis. I would've loved to hear what she thought about all this.
  2. Sure did. The story goes that Matt doodled the Simpson family before his pitch meeting so he wouldn't sell the rights away to Life in Hell.
  3. Larry trying to reason that losing your father-in-law isn't as bad as losing your father was just great. So Susie got a puppy for her birthday from Cheryl and Ted. I thought Larry's gift was better. Larry was in the right about not caring if Frankie was dead. But the sigh of relief I had when he turned out to be alive. So the key to a good episode: yell at a dog. Last week didn't have it, that's why I thought it was the weakest of the three so far. Man, the whole scene on the golf course was fantastic. Richard and Larry arguing about the will was probably just a real conversation they were having that got filmed. Leon's balls saved the day! And Larry used it on Mr. Takahashi was gold.
  4. Episode 2 seems too soon to be meta about making a show based on the show. Man, Stan couldn't even get his fake dad to like him. We got some development on the ex-wife: She was raised by bears. Which definitely explains the scars and the ear tag. I liked Flute killing all the cartoon rabbits in his mind. Alan Tudyk's characters are the best part of this show so far.
  5. Boat: Fish Fish Bang Bang Wolf's Shirt: Life on The Gas Lane Sasquatch sighting: eating out of a trash can while Jerry and Moon were leaving a party. It even ran off! Jack McBrayer as Beef's dead penis cloud! (That's something I never thought I'd type). And hey, it's Grimsburg Jon Hamm as Beef's Heart Dennis! Love the turn of phrases in this show like "Downstairs Dad." "I'm Sex Tobin. I'm here to Beef you." Love all the attempts to get Beef back on his sex horse. Just how many of them were the same woman? And also Delmer matched with him. Man, Nick Offerman was knocking his performance out of the park this week. Hell, I love Jenny Slate's completely uncomfortable performance here, too. Watch Judy in the background! She was a hoot. Jerry and Moon's plot was cute, and of course it gets weird with the clowns. I'm glad they had the sense to run off the moment it was gonna get violent.
  6. So the "contagion" is Empathy, and it makes everyone not want to kill each other and they can't deal with that. Okay, that's clever. Okay, Deliria with empathy and regret just felt wrong. And of course Tyrannis is chewed out by her when he has to cure her.
  7. Title: Angel Flanders, Devil Homer Couch Gag: The family as leaves, they dry up and fall to the ground, and Willie blows them away. Of course Homer only knows how to do his job is because Frink is just offscreen telling him how to do it. Frink was even in his ear at his home life. This was definitely a comment on ChatGPT, wasn't it? Homer just uses it to write dirty limericks. Oh boy, a combo of Lisa's song and the more qualified person Homer took the job from ("You'll have to be more specific!" got a big laugh from me) got through to Marge to get Homer to tell the truth. I bet someone's gonna be thrilled about that last minute turn. How far they've come: everyone in Moe's has an Emmy. Barney uses two for corn holders. "This is the 691st time you've left us for another job." I liked yet another montage of all of Homer's jobs. It even included the one from this week, plus a future job as the Zardoz Head "coming in Season 49." They even referenced the dome from the movie! Also loved that Smithers has forms for how Homer's leaving the job, and another for when Homer inevitably comes back every week.
  8. We're back! Season 35 ep 11: Frinkenstein's Monster Airs 2/18/24
  9. "That child does not have a child!" My god, Barbara burning Janine like that is too much. And yeah, not surprised Ava sees Janine as a mole in the district. Of course she wants Janine to help out with the ASL teacher because the kid can't keep up with her zingers. But that is still incredibly sweet in her own way. The absolute stink face that Nick gave Tariq when he called him TJ. Loved seeing him again. I absolutely loved Barbara's interactions with him. She had no patience with him at all and just walked away. Loved that Gregory can't handle being the "cool" anything, let alone the cool teacher. Of course it's been Jacob's biggest dream and he's so jealous. And I loved Melissa and Mr. Johnson laughing in his face about having to deal with it. And changed his name to Nick Sr., and wants to start a Parent Tariq Alliance.
  10. I was waiting for him to take off his mustache to reveal he was Mocha Joe the whole time, and he didn't. I have the feeling we'll be seeing him again. It's sure looks like it's heading that way. Larry's gonna go on trial, and everyone whose lives he accidentally (or not) ruined will show up to testify against him. And his cellmate will either be some combo of Jeff and/or Leon, Seinfeld, or the guy he met this week that he gave the coat to. Huh, never thought of the cover, either.
  11. Yep, five month timeskip. It was a good way to address the long wait because of the strikes. And I bet we'll see more "security cam" footage as flashbacks to fill in those five months the documentary crew weren't there for.
  12. I also realized I never commented in the Abbot Elementary section of this site until this episode. Oops, yeah, completely forgot what grade Jacob taught. One day we're gonna find out his first name is Mister. "Pull out your Walkman. Open up Napster." Please never change, Barbara.
  13. On that same note, Jacob teaching elementary school kids about the Korean War.
  14. "My boy, my king!" "Roll up those sleeves and respectfully welcome her to the gun show." This whole episode was a roller coaster of emotions. And I agree, Manny is suspicious as hell. It was so weird hearing Janine swear! Of course Melissa thought it felt forced. Loved that Ava was wearing a Harvard sweater with the bedazzled "AVA." And that gif of her saying "she mad" while eating popcorn is gonna go places, I guarantee it. Melissa might've gotten the Eagles, but Jacob and Mr. Johnson won Career Day. I'm officially on team "Mr. Johnson is probably not even his real name."
  15. Singing the JG Wentworth jingle, too! (In an episode about Larry not getting his money, to boot) Larry finally dates a woman his age, and he's stuck with her. And I agree, she's the woman he deserved.
  16. There were THREE game show sketches in one episode?! I didn't know the writers were still on strike...
  17. There was also the visual of Larry letting his room look like that after, what, a day?
  18. Is People's Court still even on? I mean, they were there first after all.
  19. Everything Leon said in this one was gold. Every time he was yelling at the dog I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. "I got a 4.0 APA. Ass point average. Was the valedictorian of tapping ass." Kinda wish the grieving waiter scene went somewhere, same with Leon putting back the piece of cake he ate. Larry is so me at a party. Faking cordiality and feigning interest, the awkward conversations when leaving, hating people, yet having to be among them. The staredown with the other woman wearing the old lady glasses was great, too. I'm just so happy to see this show back again.
  20. And yes, I wrote down my thoughts on the episode: Cold Open: And here’s a Trump Sketch. And hosted by Charles Barkley for some reason. But he and Gayle King are needed to be the people to constantly ask him “what the hell is wrong with you?” And Jeez, they actually brought in Nikki Haley for this?! It’s the closest she’ll ever get to actually debating Trump, but I mean, they actually got Ayo Edebiri to ask her the slavery question to her face, but really?! Monologue: And now for a palate cleanser, Ayo Edebiri was very charming. It’s nice to see a host seem like they’re in their element again. Why’d You Say It?: Taking people to ask about their awful instagram contestants is a great premise for a game show sketch. Especially since a white guy left immediately and was replaced with a white girl and wasn’t told what the game was. This was great. Dune 2 Popcorn Bucket: Covering this weird popcorn bucket in song was genius. Yes, it’s real. Either the prop department spent a good chunk of the budget buying them for the sketch or they were given a few to promote it. Microdosing: The contrast of Mikey and Ayo freaking out like in a 1990’s PSA at someone eating a little bit of a mushroom was great. The rolling backpack was the perfect icing on the cake. Of course all the straight edge nerds had those. Meet Cute: I love sketches that use everyone, and you know when they use everyone when they bring in the PDD guys and a random old guy to round out the cast. JLO 1: They needed an epilepsy warning for that. Good to see Redman, too. WU: Che was honestly killing it. Sarah’s bit was Colin’s bastard lovechild was incredible. Making an allusion to Scarlett too, and being named CJ to further twist the knife. Trivia Quest: Another game show sketch?! But I really liked Ayo and Ego’s chemistry in this. Elevator Town: This was a weird one. Hypnotist: Just a great performance by Ayo. And Kenan came in and made it better. “RELEASE THAT BISEXUAL BOY FROM YOUR MAGIC!” People’s Court: Ayo having a haircut so bad her brain was exposed was a great visual. Again, her chemistry with Ego was great. Man, that cold open poisoned the rest of the show. I loved most of the rest of it, but I couldn’t get that out of my mind. Like…WHY?! This show didn’t learn a thing from 2015. The show returns February 24th with Shane Gillis. Wait, why does that name sound familiar? …Goddamnit. WHY?!
  21. Since there was no topic made for it: Airing 2/3/24
  22. Cold Open: Oh good, they remembered to joke about Boeing this week. But they're right, the Super Bowl doesn't count for real football. It's the one football game I watch every year, and damn if I still don't know how it works. "Yellowstone is our Barbie!" and Kenan looking right at the camera and saying "There is no other live tv that's remotely watchable" were great. Monologue: Oh right, she's in Madame Web, technically a Marvel movie! She's endearing but this was awkward, even when Timberlake and Barry Gibb showed up. It's a little tough since Robin died in 2012. But that hasn't stopped this show before. Waitress: Sarah was great in this. This was a weird one that didn't land with the audience, but I'm a fan of "purposefully mishearing phrases" humor. "And a Diet Dr. Advil for The Little Gay" cracked me up. Home Videos: The reveal of the Maury sketch was the first big laugh I had in the episode. They completely nailed the look of the show so much. You really gotta wonder if those kids ever found out if their parents ever appeared on Maury. They oldest ones gotta be around Dismukes's age by now. Barry Gibb Talk Show: They're actually doing it! One of the Gibbs was clearly more into this sketch than the other. Timberlake was rusty. I'm convinced that Jimmy never stopped embodying the character, but man, even he can't hold the voice anymore. I mean, the original sketch didn't have much going for it, but you really noticed the dead air in this. Please Don't Destroy: Everyone sniping at each other was great. "The Lonelier Island" "Nepo Truce" "42% on Rotten Tomatoes." Big Dumb Cups: The inevitable Stanley Cup sketch! Loved this. "I'm a virgin, but I also have six kids" definitely nailed the vibe of those people. WU: Gotta love OJ jokes. "He didn't even do it!" And Spirit airline jokes are always welcome. Bowen's Ethan character was weird, but I was oddly entranced by it? I hope he comes back. I liked Heidi's tarot reader character. I hope she comes back. It was refreshing for Che to be the butt of the feature instead of Colin for once. Book Club: Was not expecting the sharks to show up. But man, it was an awkward sketch. Delta: I liked it when Kenan inevitably came in. I felt like there should've been more to this, but there wasn't. Well...here's hoping NEXT week is better.
  23. Cold Open: Trump will never leave because the people he hires are so very awful. "I am standing weirder than ever." Even JAJ Trump knows these campaign sketches are running on fumes. Monologue: Someone on Reddit said Jacob Elordi is all neck, and that's all I could think about. And wow, an audience Q&A monologue, haven't seen one of those in forever. Crown Your Short King: Love this concept. I'm surprised this isn't a thing yet. Of course they bring in Pure Neck and Chloe instantly picks him despite being a giant scumbag. I was more surprised that they didn't use forced perspective, Jacob is just that tall, especially compared to everyone else. Katt Williams: Ego was great in this, especially when Katt Williams was imitating Steve Harvey. That's just talent. Lip Readers: This feels like something Bowen just does around the office and they turned it into a sketch. Love how into it Jacob Elordi was. The voice he used for Travis Kelce just killed me. "IT'S CRAZY HOW WE BOTH WORK IN FOOTBALL STADIUMS." Bowling: Nothing will beat American Dad's bowling animations, but these were fun. The pins announcing a divorce for a Split was great. The "GUTTER" one and the strike beaters made me laugh so hard. The ASL interpreter pin was the best. Alaska Air: Nobody died, so it's okay to make fun of that airline disaster! And yes, I really liked this one. WU: 11 more months of "It's elder abuse!" jokes about the election. Joy. Tim Scott looking like someone drawing Ving Rhames with their eyes closed killed me. And forget Ving Rhames, Devon as Tim Scott looks like if someone tried to draw Wayne Brady from memory. Loved Colin reacting to his racist dog whistle. Women Supporting Women: We get two "let's comment on how hot the host is" sketches tonight. Was not expecting "dicking of a lifetime" being a sentence I'd ever hear from this show. And speaking of supporting women...Punkie. Chloe was getting a good look. Acting Class: And yet another sketch about how Jacob Elordi is hot and successful. And Rachel McAdams is there. (And the camera people spoiled the reveal that she was in this one) Wedding: Garrett From Hinge is back. I did like the shot of the old lady organist dressed exactly like him. And we got this in place of a PDD sketch for some reason. There were a lot of "this guy is hot" sketches for a guy who isn't that attractive. Here's hoping next week is better.
  24. Boat: I Like What I'm Herring Shirt: Gass, Kween! There's Bob's Burgers anthology episodes, and then there's Great North anthology episodes. Moon was extra savage this week. Judy's story starts as a Bob Ross story that turns into Top Gun in Alaska. I got a big laugh out of Bob-Judy Maverick Ross letting Ham crash into the mountain, and not being punished because she killed everyone else and owns a killer leather jacket. I laughed at Goose being a literal goose. And then died when he got sucked into a jet engine after he remembered he could fly. And then Goose's Wife (whose hair looked like Goose's wife's) was killed, too, and I got a big laugh out of THAT. "Your groans of excitement are warranted." Beef's Story was Good Will Hunting starring Quinn about flags that included bits from one of the Bourne movies (Beef didn't know they were different Matt Damon movies got a laugh out of me) and once again greased up hunk volleyball added by Wolf. Honeybee telling the story of the invention of ranch dressing by way of The Matrix (with Guy Fieri as Morpheus) was damn clever. And, again, shirtless hunk volleyball provided by Wolf. Man, I missed this show.
  25. Neighbor: Bradley Cooper's Pooper Scoopers Exterminator: Beetles Juiced Burger(s) of The Day: Mrs. Krautfire Biurger Teddy buys sheet metal by sheet loads. And if anyone found a way to get stuck in a safe owned by a rich crazy survival bunker guy, it's Teddy. Playing "Judy in Disguise" while driving down the road so he'd know where to turn was a really clever idea by Bob. I thought Bob hid in the safe. And then I thought he was in the secret fake wall. Nope, Pez dispensers! But he was behind the OTHER fake wall! That was clever. Huh, it's a real song. Well, I learned something from this show yet again. I wish the Beefhemoth B-plot went anywhere. I did like that the kids had their comeuppance by having to eat the entire thing and not the soccer team.
