  1. I'm glad you liked it, but I was going to comment that I didn't enjoy it at all. I think Miley is a good singer (she did an excellent duet of I Will Always Love You with Dolly Parton on one of the New Year's Eve shows last year), but didn't think her voice was a good fit for that song. I thought Brittany Howard was a little better suited to it, but also think in general that it's a downer of a song, and they could have come up with many better choices that would have been more entertaining.
  2. I wonder if Jane Curtin declined to be in a sketch. They could have easily included her with Laraine Newman visiting the set in her sketch, and that could have made it even more touching. Or (I know Streep is a legend and was very funny) I could have seen Jane as Kate's mother in the alien sketch.
  3. I loved Gilda Radner (Roseanne Rosannadanna is my all time favorite SNL character), and got a little teary when they showed the dance sketch with Steve Martin, and then again when Jane and Laraine had her picture at the end. I also liked the skit with Laraine and Pete. It was touching, but also funny. Eddie Murphy seemed to be having so much fun in his skits. That was nice to see, too.
  4. I'm trying to figure out if they were really messing with Cam Newton when everyone got videos from their family, and he got a business associate. He has 8 kids (6 biological, and two kids of an ex-girlfriend who he considers his kids). The kids are all young, so maybe the mothers didn't want to let them do it, but they couldn't get his brothers (he has two) or his parents (I think they are still alive), or even a close friend? The business associate didn't really seem like a close friend
  5. I was unfamiliar with a lot of these people and had to look them up. I was interested in how little air time some of them got after two hours of show. I assume that's because they were competent at the tasks and didn't cause any drama. Denise Richards was definitely out of her league physically, but I give her a lot of credit for doing it and trying her best. I give Stephen Baldwin a lot of credit for completing the helicopter challenge, but he shouldn't have done the show if he was worried about losing a future job, and I'm glad I don't have to hear him talk anymore. I was liking Ali Manno, who was shown being helpful to others, and felt bad for her when she had to leave.
  6. I would love to see Teeny get to the final tribal council, and then just admit that although she tried hard, she got fooled time and time again and was clearly outplayed. Then she would recommend that the jury vote for whichever of the other two she thinks deserves it more. She just might be honest enough to do it.
  7. Did you think I was responding to your post? I wasn't, and I know you didn't say it. I was just making fun of CBS marketing the finale as a two-parter.
  8. I am here to say that a 2 part finale does not exist. The finale is on 12/18. The next episode is Episode 13 of the season and that's it. (Or, how about this as an ad for next season: Join us on September 17 for part 1 of our 14-part finale of Survivor: Season 48!)
  9. Gabe seemed like a smart player, but anyone who has watched recent seasons of Survivor should know there is no way to make a move that will "set you up for the rest of the game" (maybe not an exact quote, but that was his point). They have engineered so many advantages, stolen votes, random temporary teams, etc. into the game that there is no way you can really plan anything in advance. You should try to get allied with others if you can, but your focus always needs to be to get through today's vote, and then deal with the next vote when the time comes, because circumstances are almost guaranteed to change. That's the way they want it. They want every vote to be a blindside/surprise/chaos, because it makes for better TV. They don't want anything predictable.
  10. I am also weirdly feeling sorry for Tori. I was not a 90210 viewer, always considered her a below average actress, and found her public persona kind of annoying, but she came across as humble and happy to be there. I was actually liking her. And she was a pretty good dancer, too! I like Reginald and Eric (and have great respect for Erica as an actor), but they are so far below the level of all the others, and at least one of them should have been gone.
  11. I know they probably have to beg well known celebrities to be on this show and they can't be too picky, but they really do need to have some kind of vetting process to make sure the contestants are physically capable of doing something resembling dancing. I was so embarrassed watching Reginald, who clearly is not capable of dancing. He seems like a very nice man, but he does not belong on a dancing show. They have had older contestants who could dance (Cloris Leachman was 82 in her season, and she did very well), so it's not just an age thing, but age is definitely a factor. I also don't know how Reginald got a higher score than Eric, who was bad, but at least tried to move. I feel like Eric could get better with training, but I just don't think Reginald is physically capable of doing much more than walking.
  12. I agree about Abi. I thought that was comparable to Carrie Underwood's performance of "Alone" in her season, which showed her range at the time, and made me think she could really win. I also agree with Lionel's comments about how polished her recent performances have been (starting with the Evanescence song). She is really putting on a show, and looks really confident. I agree with America's choices. I thought these three were the best of the top 10 or so. I'm partial to Jack and Abi, but I'd say Will probably has the best shot at future success, since he fits into the Chris Stapleton box, which is marketable these days.
  13. I've fallen behind on this show and getting caught up now. Just popping in to say that I was happy to find that so many people feel the same as me about Ormewood's story lines. I generally like the actor, and the character is fine as a supporting player, but on a show called Will Trent, I feel like we don't need to spend a lot of time on story lines that don't involve Will. As it was, there was so much going on in the episode with the main story, that they could have fleshed things out more with that and left Ormewood's woes for another episode (if they had to include them at all). I'm wondering if maybe Ormewood's wife or the guy she had an affair with will wind up having something to do with a future GBI case.
  14. I could imagine countrified versions of some of Adele's ballads, so I don't think it will be too bad (although I agree that they can be hard to sing). Since you mentioned Jack, who I also like and find interesting, I could see him doing a killer version of Easy on Me, maybe with just an acoustic guitar.
  15. Q is the worst (oh, except for Bhanu). I can't believe they didn't either vote him out, or just challenge him to quit. If you thought he was your ally, how can you can work with him now? I guess you could justify keeping him, though, because he just made himself the ultimate goat. There's no way he can talk himself out of that performance when it comes up at final 3 (or 2), right? I'm rooting for the Charlie/Maria under the radar alliance. They seem reasonable and likable. They should pull in Hunter and Ben, and try to vote out (or at least rein in) the loose cannons who change their mind every 5 minutes.
